  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss_ball - Mm, its a ball. Amazing tool though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exercise_band - Theraband is just the best brand on the market. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rope - Skip with it. Free weights are weights such as kettlebells, barbells and dumbbells. Basically, no machines. What you want is a kit/pack that consists of 1 or 2 small bars and a long bar, along with 50kg (or similar) of weight. I wouldn't bother with kettlebells because.. A) You won't know what to do with them and will learn bad technique off youtube, leading to injury (no offence) B) They are rather expensive to purchase multiples By levels/maxes I meant what is your max lift with all the different muscle groups/machines/technique, max running speed, max distance till exhaustion at a pace above 5mph, resting heart rate, maximum heart rate and the dozens of other things I can't know without doing a full evaluation. Dumbbells > Barbells. Higher reps/lower weight > higher weight/lower reps. You don't need to build power, you aren't 60 years old and arthritic (movie reference). What I would expect off somebody your size and age wanting to join the MMA class that wasn't going to attend classes AT MINIMUM Cardio, 2 hours a day, 6 days a week. Core workouts, an hour a day, 4 days a week. Isometric exercises, an hour a day, twice a week. Exercise band training, an hour OR MORE, 7 days a week. After 6 weeks of that, starting at 70% of your maxes (time/speed/distance/length/number obviously depending on the activity being performed) increasing 5% per week (naturally with the exception of maintaining heartrates) I'd ask you to move into some more weight training, again, higher reps of lower weights.
  2. Swiss ball, Theraband, Skipping rope. You can easily get by with the first two alone. Next up comes some freeweights. You should be able to pick up a 50kg set (or similar imperial) for under $100. After that you need to invest in some machinery/homegyms that will allow you to work other muscle groups. If you want a schedule, I need age, height, weight and current levels/maxes. EDIT: And don't use handles with your Theraband. Tie loops in the end. Handles are irritating when you are trying to double up your band.
  3. Soo.. Preseason for football started last week for us young ones. I went in with the expectation of light drills, you know, handballs, a little kicking, talking of tactics. Boy was I wrong. I've been running/swimming over 20km a day. That's a lot for somebody still recovering from surgery on both feet and left pec/lat/rotator cuffs. It's another 3 weeks until I can do decent weights, which means another 3 weeks of insane cardio. The Runescape side of things has been pretty quiet. I've just been far too tired after training, teaching my classes at the gym and doing all my housework . I'm hoping to force myself into finishing off a quest each day until I get to 270. Oh well, I'm off to go swim again!
  4. There is probably an App for that. ESPN 360 if you get that over in Australia. Nope :( No go. I've got tip.it unblocked at work, but for some reason most sports sites are filtered :S
  5. I play AFL. The clubs take stuff like this pretty seriously, because a single player breaking any rule is enough reason for a sponsor to leave. Could you imagine how unpopular I'd be if I cost my club a multi-million dollar sponsorship by wearing the wrong shoes
  6. Does anybody know of a site that allows streaming of entire games to international viewers? It's probably easy to find but I can't get safari on my iphone to work and I won't be home for a few hours
  7. Why can't you? Sponsorship deals. I can't even wear my favourite underwear. How would they know? About the shoes, or about the underwear? Shoes are pretty obvious. The staff punishes us for not wearing the correct branded gear, the exception being if you have a personal sponsorship (I don't) for certain articles of clothing that your managment and the club have agreed upon. Underwear is pretty easy to get caught too. There are staff throughout the changerooms. If I was to put on a pair of bonds, I think they might notice. Obviously I can wear them in my free time, but not when exercising, training, etc. We have to wear the official gear at all training sessions, games, appearances, etc. Anything in an official capacity or media appearance. That includes travelling to and from. The exception is black tie events and in that case we usually wear a tie or pin. I'm not going to pretend I fully understand that section of the contract, but everyone else told me to just play it safe and wear exactly what you are told to.
  8. Why can't you? Sponsorship deals. I can't even wear my favourite underwear.
  9. Bad blanket ban there. Soda water is great. You'd be surprised how many people I have come through the gym with their nutrional plans and see them drinking 5 or 6 litres of water but getting nowhere near the RDI of Salt. I believe it's called seltzer (sp?) in the states? Anyway, soda water is fine to drink. The big 3 are water, milk and soda water. Learn to live off these bad boys.
  10. I get selected in the 1st team more. Extra 5k per selection. I get injured less, which means more 1st team games. I'll get a better contract next year (assuming I get resigned :ohnoes: ) which means more money and a higher match payment. It's all about the money baby.

Got special permission to play 5 matches, so I'm stoked :D First was today, I took 4/33 from 5. We ended up doing them for about 65 runs. Not bad seeing as I'm usually a batsman and I havent played in almost a year! I only got 9 runs though, our openers destroyed them, they hit 20 something off the first over then just tried to slog it for awhile.
  12. Officeworks, 300gb external HDD for $75 or 1TB for $130 I have an external already, except it has important data I can't erase, plus I haven't the money to spare on a second one after I got a fine yesterday. :wall: liquor or speeding?
  13. Haha I went to this terrible club the other night and the typical [bleep]ers were on the dance floor with the circle [cabbage] going. And dead set they could not dance to save themselves. I told one of them he was [cabbage] and they dared me to go in... You guessed it. Me & my mate jump in and go nuts. The shopping cart, lawn mower, sprinkler, fishing rod. Everything :D Then kung fu fighting came on and my best mate kicked his brother in the face :S
  14. It's far less clubbing and more sitting around drinking. And it takes at least about an hours dancing to burn off a glass of coke/beer not including the alcohol. I don't know about you, but when I go clubbing/partying, I drink more than 1 an hour :P So many people slim down heaps because they just don't have time to eat. They get more exercise too, walking to and from classes, busses and housing. I went to highschool with this guy who was 135kg or so when he graduated and was down to 90 after a semester at college! Still had skin flaps though :(
  15. Don't worry about building strength in your arms and legs, that is really secondary stuff. What you want to do is work on your core strength. It's far more important. I'm talking abs, obliques, glutes, lats, traps, erector, to a lesser extent pecs. DON'T NEGLECT YOUR BACK AND NECK. So many people stress over arms and abs. Next comes endurance and technique. As hobgoblin said, lower weight, more reps. Don't worry, you will still build muscle, your gains will be slower but power isn't everything. Don't neglect cardio. We all hate it, but it plays a big part. When I train teenagers, I generally stick to the follow: Weeks 1 - 6: 7 hours core and cardio, 3 hours technique Weeks 7 - 12: 6 hours gym, 4 hours technique Weeks 13 - 18: 4 hours gym, 6 hours technique Weeks 19 - 24: 5 hours gym, 5 hours technique. It's 10 hours per week, just thought I should clarify. This is under the assumption they will do extra cardio in their own time after the first 6 weeks. The real difficulty is stopping them from doing heavier weights to try and build muscle faster. Well, keeping them in the gym at all is probably harder! By the end of the 6 months they are ready to start training with the club full time or, in rare cases, sign up for another 6 months for advanced classes. Source: Been a qualified personal trainer for 6 years, 12 years of kickboxing, 5 years of judo, 5 years of KM (6 years next month!)
  16. I'm going to a punting camp early next year when I'm in the states, to show off my skills and to teach some college guys a thing or two. Hopefully I'll be picked up and I'll become like one of those middle-management types who do virtually nothing all day every day but get paid an exorbitant amount for doing something they hate.
  17. I wouldn't really call it "unplayable" though... It's just a tiny bit delayed which is actually quite negligible... but still annoying. I meant its becoming unplayable for me. I have the works, i7 extreme, 2x gtx 295s, 12gb of ram. My internet connection is the fastest in Australia, and I still have all these problems with RS. The main one, when I FINALLY get into the game, is the lag and the fact that I have to click multiple times to ensure the action is performed.
  18. That has to do with your internet, because I am not having that problem at all. So people all over the world suddenly began experiencing internet problems coinciding with the time of the Rune Tek 5 update? I've been having terrible problems with Runescape for the past few months. It's fast becoming unplayable.
  19. :( If only I was allowed to use Nike gear!
  20. Officeworks, 300gb external HDD for $75 or 1TB for $130
  21. Skillcapes are good because they provide us with a great piece of equipment (once trimmed anyway) for everyday use. Hell, that's the whole reason I'm getting a 2nd 99. After that I'll go back to playing the way i like to play.
  22. Hypocrite much Cynic?
  23. That's your belief, don't state it as a fact. So when did you choose to be straight? When did you choose who/what you're attracted to? I never decided I'd be straight. I'll be with whoever makes me happy, male or female. It's pathetic that you insist you have no control over your sexual orientation. I'm guessing you can't quit smoking either? Or diet well? Just get over the fact that you can't prove that your OPINION is right, because by definition it can't be right.
  24. Don't bother. The advantages over 6gb are negligble. Invest your money in a better video card, or if you have the best, buy yourself a spray tan kit.
  25. 1) Keeping my mouth shut 2) Managing my finances 3) Washing my dog Other than that I'm pretty content with who i am.
