  1. Not always. I'm non conformist but I really can't be lumped into any non-conformist class like "punk," "goth rocker," etc.
  2. Hopefully you realize that you could be fined and suspended from school for doing this. If they say they "hacked" past it they probably didn't, seeing as how all of the genuine hackers do not say they "hacked" something. The poster probably found a really obvious sploit, or didn't realize that there are loads of easier ways of using MSN, as well as AIM, ICQ, and Yahoo.
  3. I have a rather eclectic wardrobe. Pants: Two pair Plugg cargo pants One pair SouthPole Relaxed Fit Denim One pair Levi's Relaxed Fit Denim One pair Old Navy Khakis Shirts: Two white t-shirts Black shirt with Killer Rabbit and picture of said rabbit on front (Monty Python :D) One red and blue striped polo White and blue vertical striped button down Cream and blue striped polo Two flanel lumberjack shirts, traditional plaid and blue plaid Timberland checkered buttondown Etc: Red Adidas hoodie Pair of grey and blue Adidas Metrum shoes Pair of cheap leather work shows with rubber soles from Payless Shoes Try hard as you might, I think it might be a tad hard to label me as something, and that's what I like. I don't like the style of the people who try to be different and all end up acting the same by joining the same "outcast" crowd. I also absolutely refuse to wear any "prep" brands like A&F, Hollister, American Eagle, or Aeropostale, because everyone I know who wears those clothes is an as$hole who purports that they are superior to everybody else because they coerce their parents into spending $80 on a pair of pre-ripped jeans. The price aside, if you pay to buy clothes with "character" because you don't possess any, then you've stopped to quite a low level. These are also the same people that flaunt the iPods that their parents bought them for Christmas in very unfriendly ways, either by strapping them to some part of their body and dancing in their seat or as they walk, or buy asking a person to see what they're listening to when they have a CD player and then saying something like "oops, that's right, YOU DON'T HAVE AN IPOD!" They do similar things with their cell phones as well. The one thread that all these people have in common is not the fact that they identify with the supposed upper-class and dress so, but the fact that they place great pride and value in their possessions and artificialized accomplishments, and that's why I don't like them. If you took away all my clothes and replaced them with cheap equivalent no-names, I'd be content. If you defaced my MP3 player or cell phone (both of which I worked and paid for with MY money) to the point of supposed ugliness but still within acceptable parameters of operation, I wouldn't care, so long as I could still crank out my tunes. If you took away my talent, intelligence, charisma and quirky mannerisms, I wouldn't be too happy. And what separates these people is that they'd trade their talent, quirky manerisms, and all other manners of nonconformity for more designer labels, makeup, overpriced gadgets and financial status. As for the gangstas and chavs, I don't want to be a wigger or identify with those people, because some of them in my area are very prone to crime, and I have clean cred I gots to protect.
  4. I wouldn't be surprised as to how many clicks it has, since blogs all interlink in such dumb ways so often.
  5. My high school had 17 bomb threats last year, and 6 so far this year. We just evacuate to the bleachers, which are about 100 feet away from the school anyway  . But I'm in Maryland, so when people say winter they mean 60 Fahrenheit, and everyoen still whines about how cold it is even though it isn't.
  6. I play violent video games and that does not make me a killer. In fact, many of my friends find me rather strange because of the fact that I believe killing is wrong, even "omfgf omf tah iraqeez!!111" I do not believe that it is our place to determine whether somebody lives or dies, and that God or whatever force will decide their fate. Even if their isn't some spirit up in the sky, fate will make the decision, and one person should not be judged by his peers. In all likelyhood, if somebody handed me a gun and told me to shoot somebody who was attacking me, I couldn't do it. I really have no intention of ending human life or trying to end it, and call me a hypocrite, but violent games and violent life are two different things. The other thing is that people really don't know how guns work, gun control, etc, and they think they do because of a game. For instance, "of course I know how to shoot a shotgun! I play RAINBOW SIX ON XBOX LIVE!" They also do not possibly know how much damage a gun does. I'm no expert, but to me a shot with a gun means a 50-50 chance you'll live, and two shots and you're pretty much dead, unlike in games, where you can take a headshot with a .45 Desert Eagle and stay standing. Now, this is all fine and dandy for me, but I can't speak for others. But just know that if somebody goes out and kills people because of a game, it's not going to be me.
  7. What is "spam?" Don't clog up the forums, moron. Make a sensible post.
  8. Dual core doesn't mess up older software. I thought we established that already... I'm not saying that a normal AMD does as well as the Intel, I'm just noting something :P.
  9. Just an interesting thing to note... I'm calculating a SHA1 sum, converting a DVD to DivX, and copying a file to my MP3 player and browsing the forums, all without slowdown, on an Athlon 64 3500+ Venice 939-pin. Just thought you might like to know that :P.
  10. Mmhrmm and for digital camera videos you need to buy a special version of quicktime to actually convert them correctly. ok this is the MOST silly thread i have heard filled with lies 800 megs for a movie.. your quality is like HD.. reduce your quality and you will get more on (your tv can't use all that quality) Ipod has RCA jacks.. just get a cheap phono jack from radioshack and just remember sound and audio on one of them are flipped also i posted on your thread.. the deal was style ipod.. other creative... also you don't HAVE to use quicktime.. google videora ipod converter... OR.. let ITUNES convert for you (much slower but still does it) and.. your rebuttle is? Wow, I wasn't really aware that it was a debate! 1. The iPod DOES have RCA jacks, but it outputs 320x240 only, not full 640x480, like the Vision:M. That's why I have 800MB per movie - because they're at full resolution, so I can watch them in good quality on a TV. Also I didn't buy a cable for mine, I just used the one from my DVD Player :P That aside, can you cite where anybody on this thread said that the iPod doesn't have A/V? I even said it does in my first post here. Nobody said that you have to use QuickTime either... Insane said you needed it for digital camera videos, not every video. Again, I mentioned Videora in my first post. Even so, you still have to convert it, wasting time. With my Vision:M, I just went to Compfused, downloaded all my favorite videos, and then just copied and pasted them onto the Vision:M. That simple. Read before you post, bud.
  11. I don't get the video thing either, but what I'm doing is transcoding my favorite movies to DivX. Each takes up about 800MB of space, and that's at full resolution. I can therefore fit maybe 30 of my movies on there, plus my music, and then, if I'm ever at a friend's house, relative's, or anywhere with RCA inputs, I can just "jack in" and play any one of my favorite videos. Kinda like your music collection on the go, but movies too  . I tried to watch a movie in bed, and it sorta works, but really it's too much trouble if you're going to hold it up. If you just prop it up and you're a foot away from the screen, it's mildly enjoyable. I used to have a Micro and I loved it BTW :D
  12. NOTE: DO NOT FLAME ME AND POST PICTURES OF IPODS WITH SKINS AND CRAPPY PICTURES OF BEAT-UP CREATIVE PLAYERS! DO NOT FLAME ME FOR BEING A FANBOY! DO NOT MAKE UP SPECIFICATIONS! DO NOT CITE OLD CNET RATINGS! POST SENSIBLY! Sorry about that. I just know that the iPod vs. everything flame war is very strong, especially in these forums, and I just had to write that nasty little disclaimer to avoid any flaming. * * * * Seeing as how there are many iPod-related threads, I just thought that I'd like to bring attention to a different MP3 Player: the Creative Zen Vision:M. Review I wrote from another post: Like I said above, the player is really awesome, but its caveats are size and the fact that you have to have a little dock-type connector to sync and charge. Discuss. Remember, avoid bias, and no flaming.
  13. That's absolutely ridiculous. It might be true if you're gonna be running a massive site but for the sort of person who would come here to ask how to find a good host it is completely unnecessary to script and code their own site and not use a CMS. If you count on being successful, you'll only run into problems if you reley on premade systems... + the coding experience you'll get while making these is much more worth than simply clicking download and install... But yes, to start out with you could just get a free blog at blogger.com or something like that... It's just the rules i base my work on (and everything on Tip.It for that matter), noone says you need to follow them... But just to avoid giving a false impression to a new webmaster, we all feel the need to correct you :P. Nothing against you or your opinion. But then again, given your opinion, then why does tip.it run PhpBB? :P Just a thought.
  14. That's absolutely ridiculous. It might be true if you're gonna be running a massive site but for the sort of person who would come here to ask how to find a good host it is completely unnecessary to script and code their own site and not use a CMS. Word. Get something that's really flexible and has a huge mod community and modding documentation available, like PhpBB, and then just use that. Reinventing the wheel is pointless.
  15. Disregard everything this person has just said. Not only do they ignore the fixed sensitivity of the Zen, But they think Bill Gates owns Apple My sweet lord... I have a 30GB and I watched Big Fish (125 minutes) all the way through. Albeit the battery was pretty much drained, but I still managed it. That aside, it's a known fact that Creative's players have better sound quality and a higher SNR than Apple's players. I dunno, it just might have something to do with the fact that Creative primarily manufactures studio-grade digital audio equipment, but it could just be some sort of weird coincidence.
  16. iPod has less experience making them, seeing as how Creative was a manufacturer of digital audio equipment long before Apple entered the scene. Also, now that I actually have my Zen Vision:M, I can safely write a review of it. When I got it, I opened it up, to find everything neatly packaged in foam, and the player encased in protective plastic all over. The back of the player is a "rough" plastic - that is, it doesn't show fingerprints, grips easily, and is still nice looking. It's not shiny though, and that may disappoint, but it doesn't scratch, so I'm happier with it. The front is shiny plastic, very similar to the iPod. The screen seems to be slightly taller than the iPod, but this isn't via side-by-side inspection. The screen is also more vibrant, and looks much nicer. The Vision also plays DivX videos. I converted Transporter 2 to DivX format in an hour and a half using DVDx, and I transferred it and hooked it up to my television. The quality is amazing - my friend has the iPod A/V dongle, and because the iPod does not output 640x480 at all, the Zen Vision:M also wins in the resolution area. Note, however, that the screens of the two are the same resolution, so don't expect anything different there (except the more vibrant colors on the Vision:M). The Zen Vision also has revamped (read: nicer) controls than its predecessors. The touch pad is not as sensitive as it used to be. Although I never had a problem with over or undershooting using my Zen Micro, the problem appears to have been alleviated further, from the experience of my friends using the player. Also, all of the controls are now tactile (button) rather than touch, like on the Zen Micro. The foward and rewind buttons are situated next to the vertical pad, and also function as left and right buttons. For instance, when viewing the artists, you can hit the left button to go to a list of letters, and selecting one will instantly jump to that letter in the artist menu. The battery life is a purported 4 hours video and 14 hours music, but I have been unable to test this. The player did, however, charge in 2 hours from when I got it and plugged it in. My only qualm with this player is the thickness - it weighs in at .7 inches deep. I thought it would be atrociously thick when I bought it, but it's not too thick, and slips in to your pocket without being seen. Granted, it's just not quite as thick as two iPods, but it's still thick. Just not noticeably thick. It also feels a bit better in the hands, due to the heft. The other thing is that the player comes with a wall wart, which probably explains the $30 price difference. The only downside to the system of charging and syncing is that you have to use a little 2" x .75" adapter, which you plug in to the bottom of the player, a la the iPod. This is a stupid idea, and it would have been better had they just stuck the USB port on top like on the Zen Micro and put the AV output through the headphone jack, because they're the same anyway. The player also has nice software. For instance, even if by chance the Vision:M can't play it, Creative's software will convert it. The player also syncs to any computer that has WMP10 on it, so you can dump your songs onto your friend's computer. My friend has an iPod and he is planning to maintain two copies of his song library - one on the data partition and one on the music - just so he can copy his songs to peoples' computers. This isn't a problem with the Zen. Overall, I'd rate this above the iPod. The only disadvantages it has are price, thickness (but not weight), and possibly control and interface, depending upon your preference. For instance, the Zen Vision:M has a right-click-type button, whereas the iPod does not. The Vision:M also has a voice and FM radio tuner/recorder, but I don't use those really. Pay the extra $30 and get this. If you don't like it, return it and get an iPod. While everyone else is screwing around with Videora trying to get their videos to work, you'll be dragging and dropping your DivX, WMA, AVI, and MPEGs onto the Vision:M and watching them. I may sound like a fanboy, but most of this is quantifiably-justifiable.
  17. This is the worst and most unintelligent stereotype I think I have ever heard in my life. Nah, it's definitely legit. Anything to back this up with other than bold print? now its deffinitly legit. Being "Goth" didn't make him do this, the kids just sick in the head. [/i] I shall. This Purple Crayon character appears to be rather self-absorbed, and this is coming from someone who knows what they're talking about when they say self-absorbed. And this Commandant guy - what a kook. "shut up kid?" Can we think of a more stereotypical comeback than that? I think not! Anyway, on topic, I have a friend who would qualify as gothic, but he's one of the most stable people I know. His parents fight a lot, and he just comes to school every day like it's no big deal, unlike other kids who are like "my parents fight, me so lonely, me needs excuse to cry and do bad in school!"
  18. Just FYI, I ordered my Zen Vision:M and it's coming tomorrow (hopefully). I'll go over to my friend's house and try to get some photos of side-by-side comparisons. I also realized something - if you carry around the dongle with you for video with the Vision:M, you can just load all of your DVDs onto it, in full resolution, and output them at full resolution to a TV. Figure in about 2GB per DVD, and that's maybe 10 movies plus 10 GB of music...sweetness! All my favorite films with me wherever I go, plus my music...
  19. When it does snow, the school superintendent always rips his hair out and cancels, because an inch of frozen, crystalized water is a huge threat to the drivers  . I mean, someone could get poorer traction driving in that kind of weather. What kind of moron doesn't cancel school when there's snow? But then again, I don't drive so I can't say, but it seems to be not super super incredibly hard to drive in an inch of snow.
  20. Godsmack, death metal? Are you taking the piss? I like godsmack, but they're not even close to death metal, and i have no idea why you're comparing them to bleeding through - a band who have a completely different style to godsmack. Yeah, it really pisses me off that you think you're so damn cool just because you're a 13 (or whatever) year old who listens to music thats from before his time. Yes, I do think I'm so damn cool. I also think it's so damn cool how you're 20 and think that I'm a total [developmentally delayed]. That's just absolutely awesome, I aspire to be like you someday. I aspire to never forget any time that anybody wrongs me. In fact, if I ever meet any people I know now later in life, I think that I'll treat them just the way I treat them now, regardless of how their character has changed. On topic, I'm sorry if I do not know the exact classification of such bands. I heard two Bleeding Through songs because one of my friends likes them, and they do not appear to be a band whom I would consider talented. Similarly, I heard a few Godsmack songs at a party and I do not much like them. They sounded similar to me, and as such I associate them with the same genre. I am very sorry, I need to go research all of the subgenres again, I've really fell behind on how many there are. I also find it cool how I don't think I'm so damn cool enough to not make a thread devoted to a single artist without using the shift key (and post it in the wrong forum twice before getting it right) and yet when I decide to post the type of music that I like I get hammered because I'm just "so damn cool" and you're all "jealous" of me and my awesome music. Also, by my last count, 7 Scorpions albums have come out in my lifetime, and 87 of the songs in my 422-song collection in the same timeframe. Man, I'm not as damn cool as I thought, I need to go out and arbitrarily buy some AC/DC albums and accompanying shirts.
  21. Run-DMC Beastie Boys MC Hammer Sugarhill Gang Oldskool (because misspellin' be kool to tha MAXX!) rap/hip-hop is the best, by far. Rap has just become so blown up in recent years.
  22. Godsmack, Bleeding Through...they're all the same. Wailing on a guitar while somebody sings about how their life sucks. Death metal gets real old when it's rather impossible to identify the individual instruments and understand the lyrics. Scorpions is where it's at 8)
  23. Awful help :). Post your specs please and make sure you uninstall and remove all HL2(Mods etc) files and then reinstall it. Per chance, what do you mean by awful help? I don't know what Jammy meant, but I think flashing his BIOS is a last-resort solution :\ I really don't see how flashing your BIOS is last-resort, I flashed my BIOS when I first got it so I had the newest version to ensure compatibility. But then again, I have Dual BIOS , which I guess means I have a backup BIOS as well, so I can just restore from that.
