  1. And all the "skaters" wonder why so many people roll their eyes and treat them with negative predispositions. It seems as though skating is the new "in" thing to do, whether or not you seem to be good at. It's just another thing that people latch on to because they feel that they lack any sort of personality or identity, and once they grow older they'll [hopefully] see the error of their ways and grow out of it. Nice to know that there are some legit skaters here :P. I remember a while ago that some kid posted about skating in indecipherable internet AIMNoob speak about how "sk8in is tehj kewl" and how the "sk8r h8rs can go 2 hell!!!1" Was rather annoying. Personally, I don't skate, but I used to scooter. The most I could do was a PopShoveIt, but then again, that's more than what many people with scooters can do :P.
  2. There is no excuse to type in internet shorthand on a freakin' forum. On forums, you do not need to respond instantly, only in a manner that is not time-prohibitive. In other words, you can TAKE YOUR JOLLY TIME on the forums, and there's no lapse in conversation, unlike in IRC, MSN, or AIM, in which case you need to be quick. In latter cases then I find it acceptable to use acronyms and shortcuts, but on forums? That's just absurd. Same goes for email, PMs, etc.
  3. Sorry to say, but thoughs are the ONLY pictures of the nano, so I guess the "best" of the nano pictures is the nano itself. Thanks for proving yourself wrong. This is an iPod thread, not a Zen Micro crappy durabilaty thread. Leave please. Then why exactly did you post the thing about the Zen Micro being not durable? It is YOU who should leave the thread, seeing as how you have no sense of logic and make biased, untrue statements. The Zen Micro looks like it has low durability. Do you think people would want to buy a product that looks like it has low durability? Sure people give it a 4/5 on the durability. Heres what people say on the Nano- http://www.dealtime.com/xPR-Apple_iPod_Nano_Black_4_GB_MA107LL_A For Zen Micro- http://www.dealtime.com/xPR-Creative_Labs_Zen_Micro_5_GB_Silver --- They both got 4/5 overall. So stop complaining and make your own Zen Micro thread. Kapeesh. Then stop flaming the Zen users. Zen Micros are just as durable. I've dropped mine twice onto the sidewalk, and it still runs great and has no scratches. And just because it LOOKS like it has low durability doesn't mean it does. That aside, given that the Nano is as thin as a pencil, I believe that the Micro looks more "durable."

  5. Cnet.com gave a Zen Micro a 6.0/10. A zen Micro DISTORTS at high volume, and delivers low end preformance and has a weak FM reception. A Nano on the other hand got a 8.3/10 by cnet.com. Quote "The overall sound quality is excellent, with imperceptible hiss, though we've heard a bit better in terms of brightness and bass from the likes of Cowon and Sony. Surprisingly, the iPod's multitude of equalizer settings can make a difference for the positive, whereas we've characterized the EQs as being weak in the past. Reportedly, the Nano uses the same sound chip as the Mini." Lets face it. iPod has better more advertisements which buts it ontop by far. It is sleeker, easy to use and is very durable. From looking at the Zen Micro, It looks like if you drop it, that it will either fall apart, put a dent in the floor, or the buttons will fall off... It looks like a giant walki talkie! iPod has more customization and lots of bonus/extra features. If someone tries to steal your Zen, there is no way to stop them from listening to your tunes, but on the nano, there is a "lock" button which goes to a screen were you ened to enter a 4 digit code to enter back into the iPod. Some of the layouts for the Zen Micro are TERRIBLEY ugly! Not to mention there is no skins that have sylicon, or rubber to decrease the chance of dropping it and it all plastic. That is clearly a win for the ipod in design. That is ONE UGLY ZEN MICRO! iPod ranges from 30-60 GB! The Zen Micro only has 5-6 gb. Also you cannot lsiten to music and play songs all at once. Wow, you are the biggest fanboy, ever. CNet gave the Micro an 8.0/10, not a 6. Learn to read. http://reviews.cnet.com/Creative_Zen_Mi ... ml?tag=nav The Zen does not distort at high volumes, either. In fact, the Zen has a 98dB signal to noise ratio: "As expected from a Creative player, the Micro delivers excellent sound quality (the signal-to-noise ratio is 98dB), especially if you use a pair of high-quality headphones. The Micro comes bundled with a pair of quality earbuds. While we recommend a bigger set of 'phones to take advantage of the Micro's clean and powerful sound, the earbuds are actually pretty decent. There are eight preconfigured equalizer settings that you can use to tailor your sound, and you can create a custom EQ setting as well." In fact, it has better sound than the iPod mini did, and does NOT distort at high volumes (I know, seeing as how I own one). You are also comparing two different classes of players - the big hard drive class to the micro hard drive class, and thus your evaluation of the Zen Micro Photo vs. the iPod Photo is invalidated. And, the photos you provided are extreme. You took the Zen Micro one from an eBay auction it seems, and the iPod Nano ones have skins on them. And, about the no skins for the Zen Micro: http://www.staples.com/webapp/wcs/store ... rea=SEARCH There you go. And that lock thing? Who the hell cares if someone "listens to your tunes?" If your iPod gets stolen, you're out an iPod anyways, and there's still no way of you tracing it. And who's going to bother with entering a code every time they turn on their audio player? Not I, nor anybody else that I can think of. And the FM radio - some FM radio is better than none, wouldn't you say? Your post is the most biased comparison of any two products I've seen in a while. You should REALLY check the sites that you cite information from before posting false ratings, and actually TRY the players you. And, at the last poster: The Zen Micro works with pretty much every download service in existence, and I get my music from MP3Search, for 10 cents. It's legal, in a more universal format than iTunes, and is a fraction of the price, not to mention faster download times (300KB/second on my connection) and working on virtually every digital audio player in existence. You may flame me and everyone else all you want, but the facts are that so far everyone who has posted here who proclaims that "iPOd is teh awesoemeome!!!1111 koolz adverts n certive suzzorz" has totally missed it and has cited inaccurate information, distorted specifications, and had little to no experience using the Zen Micro. Case in point - decide which is better for yourself, given information on reputable sites such as CNet.com. Objectively, the only places where the iPod may excel is the "wow" factor, the clickwheel (but that's just preference), battery life (but Creative's is sometimes better) and the interface. Otherwise, the Creative players outspec the Apple players easily and offer far more features for less money.[/code]
  6. Me too. Creatives are better for the money, and even for the same price, they still have more features and have lower service-needed rates than Apple. Yes but this is an ipod thread, this is about nice parents that bought them an ipod because that is what these nice people wanted. So take your creative zen shove it up your * and go away. There is no need for hostility. It's a logical chain of discussion - someone is talking about getting an iPod, someone so much as mentions an alternative, and then I provide an opinion on the alternative. And that aside, if this thread is about iPods, then it's definently not about correcting and needlessly flaming people, and if you have some kind of problem, then you take it up with me and a staffer, not the rest of the people who would like a civilized discussion. I suggest that you pull your head out of your [wagon] and stop being such a frickin' forum troll.
  7. Me too. Creatives are better for the money, and even for the same price, they still have more features and have lower service-needed rates than Apple.
  8. Tru dat. Creatives have a better history, have more features, are cheaper, and have more intuitive controls (in my opinion). On topic, I have Mario Kart DS if anyone wants to add me. PM me your friend coed and add me, I'm 365133976494.
  9. Tru dat. I'll own you all with Kirby so badly, and I won't even use Down+B more than twice! That's the biggest mistake Kirby n00bs make, flying above an enemy just for the sole purpose of using Down+B. It's meant to be used in a gangbang fight, or just if you happen to be directly over your opponent, or your shield is close to running out and you're playing someone who doesn't know that you can grab Kirby out of his rock form.
  10. I never got any presents from Santa, they were all from people I knew, and my dad is a Jehovah's Witness, so he just sat down and told me that Santa "looks a lot like your mother" , and that the tooth fairy was "big, hairy, and looks kind of like me [my dad]". I was totally fine with it. I really didn't give a crap about the Santa thing, because being the sensitive child I was, I thought the whole thing was a bit materialistic anyways, and a ploy to get us chil'ins to behave.
  11. Hulk, I can help you with Source server configuration (ie installing Mani). I used to start up a Ded Server every once in a while off my home connection for my friends and I, but our new ghetto ISP blocks ports now :(. But it'd be great if you could get a CSS server. 1.6 pales in comparison to Source, it's a bit more random it seems.
  12. Heheh I think thats a bit mean. 800 metre driveway you must live near Dural or somthing like that! I take great offense to that. Not all Jehovah's Witnesses do that. My father, for instance, is a Jehovah's Witness, and he could care less about "converting" people. All the ones he talks to at his congregation don't do that either. We get more Mormons around here than Jehovah's Witnesses. That aside, they're kinda right about everything, on account of the fact that they update their Bible based on historical findings (ie the Dead Sea Scrolls), unlike the Catholics, which use the King James translation, which is 500+ years old. In fact, the reason that so many people renounced their religion as Jehovah's Witnesses was because they were afraid to admit that they were wrong. Except for the door-knocking and no holidays bit, that's whack man. I'm not a JW, but really, it seems that they are the target of ridicule all over the place, almost as much as Jews.
  13. The ultimate anti-telemarker weapon: ladies and gents, I give you the TELECRAPPER 2000! It just plays a sequence of sound files off of a computer and simulates the effect of talking to a real person, to a telemarketer. Listen to some of the recordings about 2/3 way down the page, and you'll see how awesome it is.

    GUN, the game

I resent that. Being a GA resident myself, I can tell you that some parts are not hicksville. Go south and you got hicks. Go north and you got ghetto people in the ATL shootin it up. Go a little further north and you got me in the suburbs chillin just like any other middle-class non-hick family :P. I'm sorry if I offended you, it's just that this guy seems to have no clue and very poor problem-solving skills and I needed some way of demonstrating his inadequacies, and that Georgia comment was a path to that. People from Georgia kick [wagon] anyway :P They're always really nice and seem like they're never mad at anything.

    GUN, the game

Thanks for posting the receipt, wioneo....or should I say ---? Oh and you live in Georgia? Isn't that Hicksville? Seriously, just check GameFAQs if you're too slow to figure out the controls.
  16. I don't like Opera. It's just little things, like the fact that middle-clicking doesn't close tabs, and that it's slower. Firefox is just barebones, and that's usually how I run my computer.
  17. Americana isn't old Offspring.. It was released about 8 years ago so that is quite old. Recently I've been listening to lots of Pearl Jam, they are awesome. 8 years isn't old. I hate it when people say "way back in the 90s" and that movies like Drumline are old, because they AREN'T. At least 20 years is a "long time." Just because you've only been around for a certain amount of years doesn't mean that everything that came before you is old.
  18. Bubsa, I have the Ghostbusters theme MP3. Could you do one of your covers :P. That would own. And, a little piece of trivia: In Ghostbusters II, when they move the Statue of Liberty, they use an NES Advantage controller to do it. [/offtopic] Anyways, last night I saw an orb in the corner of my room, like a small camera flash. I just wondered what it was, but then I rolled over and went to sleep.
  19. Certain people I know who use myspace REALLY need to be smacked over the head with a crowbar. Why the hell do they have to put some [developmentally delayed]ed Coheed and Cambria video in their profile? When I'm using the computer half the time I have my own music, and I don't want to hear mainstream MTV punk/gothic rock/death metal crap blaring out my speakers. I also hate it when they make their background a picture and make the text the same color, and then screw up their HTML so everything is a nonworking javascript link. Or, when nooby screwballs post a comment like the following (actual comment from an acquaitance's space): "yo boo! yea its all good you couldnt come...what can i say im amazin..lol jp..but yea the party is gonna be gay cuz its all chs people (no offense to chs lol)...so yea ill stay for like 2 minutes haha love ya baby! *caught in suspension* *B!* xoxoxoxoxoxoxo" How sad. At the very least I type in English on my website.
  20. Alright, a very elaborate scheme: Go to a costume store and buy a replica firearm, or obtain/build something that looks like a gun. On/around Haloween, camp next to your front door, and when they come, jump out like a crazy and shout "FREEZE MUTHAF*CKAS!" That should scare them sufficiently :P. My neighbor (he's a Marine) got his 12guage and did that (it was unloaded). Scared the crap out of the kids and got them arrested for ringing his doorbell at 2am.
  21. Go. To. Hell. Aliens is probably one of the greatest movies ever. Alien: Ressurection was mildly crap, but still palatable, and Alien vs Predator was mediocre. But Aliens reigns supreme as an officially awesome movie, sanctioned and sponsored by the Authority for All that is Badaass. Like I said earlier, a movie does not have to be deep, have a moral, good actors, an all-star cast, and be a blockbuster hit to be a "good" movie. So long as it's entertaining, I think everyone is fine with it. Aliens was marketed as a horror/action flick, and that's what it is - guns, explosions, monsters, and exploding monsters (Maddox :P).
  22. It's fun when you find a server that's not full of demented morons.
  23. If the Winamp Agent isn't running... Right-click > Options > Preferences > General Preferences It says "Show Winamp in" and lets you select one or both of the taskbar or system tray. Select system tray and uncheck taskbar, and ta-da. To shrink, click the normal shrink thing, and to restore, click the system tray icon. Also get the Winamp CrAzY Toolbar, it's very useful.
  24. I mentioned common sense?! I tell you now, no joke, that my friend (upon telling him when drunk that the nano is bullet proof) through his nano out of his car at 50mph, ala that article someone posted on these forums 3-4 weeks ago. Not a scratch to the screen, nano still works perfectly. It makes me wonder just what the hell these people keep in their pockets and/or how they grip their nano to royally smeg it up. Maybe certain Nanos are made at different factories, and all the ones from a certain factory are "worse" than the others...
  25. I dunno... Love Stinks is my favorite, despite its simplicity.
