  1. I'll just ignore the thread-bumpage. When I started playing, I was very proud of myself for selling a few pieces of cooked meat for 33 coins (and a wizard hat). I fished shrimp, which were sold to the store in Port Sarim, so that I could buy myself a mith b axe - and I was very happy to get it. Back then I couldn't possibly have imagined that it's possible to be as rich as I am now, and I'm actually not very wealthy by Runescape standards. There aren't any abrupt changes in gameplay as you level up, but what I play now is a completely different game than what I played when I started, and sadly, it's impossible to go back. Yes, the world has shrunk. When you're a noob, you think that being a high level would give you limitless options and enjoyment, but the opposite is true. With 120 combat, and nearly 2000 total, I've run out of things to do. I've considered "starting over" with a certain kind of quest pure. I already know everything about this game, but quests have always been my favorite part of the game, so I don't mind revisiting them.
  2. No answers, so I'll ask again. How far can the dark bow shoot? The same distance as other longbows?
  3. Hm, really? I always thought that you could fuel infinite lamps without the oil running out. At least, I've filled a few already. I could be mistaken.
  4. Apparently I'm unable to put imp repellant in the oil still at Rimmington until I empty the lamp oil out of it. How can I do that?
  5. Thanks for the info. I guess I might be better off training with a magic short, but this still looks like it would be fun to use. There's one piece of comparison info missing: how far can this bow shoot? As far as long and crystal bows?
  6. I imagine that vengeance could be a useful spell when fighting the kq, but only if you weren't using your spell list for anything else anyway.
  7. For me, the stories in quests are very important. This has two effects: 1) I get annoyed when a new storyline is started, because there are many unfinished stories that should be continued. I would really appreciate it if Jagex could tie up some of these before opening more new ones. 2) Quests with poorly written stories are unsatisfying, such as Tower of Life. Playing God is very significant subject matter in my opinion, so the quest deserved to be much longer and more carefully scripted - an epic, if you will - instead of a quick nonsensical dash to the reward. Is Devious Minds part of any other story? That kind of dropped off the radar. When will we get our bowswords? And Sheep Shearer is a lead-up to the penguin storyline. :P
  8. I managed to get a few whips from abbies when they were still worth around 8 mil each. I divided the money from one whip four ways, and surprised four friends with 2 mil. They were all very happy, and one friend was absolutely thrilled. Those were the best trades I ever made.
  9. Hm, I had completely forgotten that this was ever promised. It certainly sounds interesting. However, unless Jagex puts HUGE effort into this random-adventure-generator, I'm sure we would start to feel like we were running through the same steps every time. Yeah, Barbarian's Assault struck me from the very beginning as a strange way to encourage teamwork, because you can't force a team into existence. The four roles all have completely different objectives anyway, so any teamwork is only an illusion at most. While teams in most MMORPG's consist of attackers and support roles, Jagex should realize that this isn't appropriate for a game like Runescape with no real character classes. The fact that we all start RS the same way is one of my favourite things about it. I know that that wasn't the point of your post, but I still couldn't help but talk about it.
  10. I always used to kill imps when I passed them, just in case. No scrolls yet. Champion scrolls are really just a trick to keep Zezima playing. I bet that the code for when an imp dies looks something like this: if (playerName == "Zezima") { crappyDrops(); mockingLaughter(); }
  11. I haven't been an active player for a very long time, but I've been catching up on updates for the last week, and I've found that I only have a few close friends left. My best friends are people that I met when we were both lower level - now that I'm 120, it's very hard to start new friendships. Lower level players might just want help/cash, while high level players usually have a complete circle of close friends and don't need more. Here's where the classified ad starts... If I'm going to keep playing RS, I'm going to need a solid group of people to do things with. I always used to be a solo skiller, but now I'd be very willing to try tackling some big monsters, or to play more minigames, etc. I'm still not interested in pking, though. I may have to do some clan shopping. Or, message me!
  12. I don't think he'll show up again. Cyrisus and 'random' in the NPC contact spell are just flavour elements. Contacting Cyrisus just cycles through four conversations, which are kind of a short epilogue to the quest. According to one of the convos, Cyrisus successfully kills Tz-tok Jad! If he is going to show up again, I wish he'd help me with that...
  13. I almost never give gifts for holidays or birthdays, and I tell people not to give me anything either. If someone absolutely insists on giving me something, I try to find something in my bank that would make an appropriate present in return. I've been known to give small random gifts, but those are just items that would be too much trouble to sell. I don't think gifts should be given to brand new players. Looking back, I think my fun would have been ruined if someone made starting the game too easy.
  14. Jagex used to disapprove of the commercialism involved with holiday items, but since then they've come to realize that the rares market is a very significant part of the game. Runescape has one of the most complex economies in online gaming, and there are people who play Runescape only to buy and sell items. Other high level players also use rares as a goal to reach; once they've reached the level cap, they can still play to earn the elusive party hat set. So, if Jagex removed rares, they'd lose countless customers. I'll let you all in on a secret. There's a hidden skill: merchanting. At level 60, you earn the ability to buy a santa. At level 80, you can buy a party hat. There are thousands of players out there right now, working towards level 99.
  15. I have heard your earthly squabbles, from my cave upon a mountaintop, and will share my wisdom with you so that this topic can cease. Boots of lightness: -4 kg Spottier cape: -4 kg Both items together: -9 kg That's what shows on the equipment stats screen, anyway. Some decimal places are rounded off, it's nothing to be concerned about. Also, I can confirm what Wakka102 said: Negative weight acts the same as zero weight. Run energy drains at the exact same rate in both cases.
  16. Of course you can't get any random item. Jagex definitely defined a list of items you can win. It's ridiculous to hope for rares anyway. If you could get more, they'd lose all value, so your dreams of easy wealth still wouldn't come true.
  17. Nice guide, it has a few pieces of information that I hadn't thought of. The main point in this guide is: mining rune at dark beasts is more possible and profitable than you think. Unfortunately, if too many people discover this, the rune rock will become crowded, and the guide will no longer be true.
  18. Yeah, that was plan B. I figured that asking here first might be simpler, and could save me 25k.
  19. My extra 5 workers are currently on coal, but I don't really need more of that stuff. What's more important to me now is cheap firemaking xp and tree seeds.
  20. Bump, can anybody answer this?
  21. Imagine this scenario: I put 5 mil in the coffers, and get 100% favor. I'm already done Royal Trouble, so I put 100% work on maples and then leave the remaining 50% idle. The question is: Will I be charged 50k per day or 75k per day? Do we pay for idling workers?
  22. There's a picture of white sweets in the treasure trail rewards page, under the firelighters at the top.
  23. But if they're all the same, why are white sweets far rarer?
