  1. Graphical Updates are good in my opinion. I personally like to see things updated to look better, I see nothing wrong with it.
  2. http://mmohub.org/news/interview-mechsc ... -2009/307/ Brendon Lindsey, Chief Editor, MMOLife Network: You've mentioned it once or twice, but for those who don't know, you guys have been talking recently about working on "MechScape," a sci-fi MMO... Mark Gerhard, CEO, Jagex: Yes. Is that something you've been working on for a while? And is it tied into "RuneScape's" development at all? Gosh, I think it's nearly four years in the making. So there's a significant amount of effort into this. Basically, a few years ago we sat down and said, "You know what" -- when we started out "RuneScape" we said "This is cool and fun, but I wish we did this, or that, and we can't change this now..." So with this one we went, "Now we know what to do, so what if we built this game with all of this stuff in mind." I mean, "RuneScape" evolved over nine years with all these developers on it, and you can tell. It has all these different flavors. And, you know, it's quite organic. So we thought about, from the start, what if we had a bigger design brief, with these robots almost like Mechs, and it was very consistent. And it was only meant to be a year-long project originally launched in 2006. But every year we went "Wouldn't it be better if we did this..." So the 2006 project became a 2007 one, when I joined it was a 2008... Now it's looking like 2009. But we'll talk about that when it's closer to the gate! For all intents and purposes the game is done. It's finished, in testing, and working. But we're in testing and going, "What if we change this..." I suppose we're so excited about what the end result can be that we're tolerating all these changes in 11th hour so to speak. There's nothing really arbitrary, ti's all things we think will really help gameplay or make it more fun. I do expect it to be released in 2009, but it's hard to guarantee these as I'm sure you know. The Studio is however doing a fantastic job and working tirelessly to get the game awesome and ready for Beta. Traditionally sci-fi MMORPGs don't succeed as well as fantasy, so how are you combating that? That's a good question. I suppose "MechScape" should be clarified as it's not a traditional sci-fi MMO. Even the name, it probably won't be "MechScape." Certainly four years ago it would be sci-fi, robotic, and mech-like. But even now, that's just one of four factions, if you will. So it's grown and evolved as the sci-fi genre allows. I suppose, if you look at who's the most successful but also hardcore, you'd have to look at "EVE." I would say "MechScape" is not going to be as hardcore; it's kind of casual like RuneScape, but still gives you the depth, complexity and intrigue that all of the sci-fi MMOs can bring. We're conscious of what's out there, and of things that haven't worked. But, I think we feel that ours is uniquely different. Alternatively, it may not work for those very factors. But, we think having taken the best lessons, if you will, from "RuneScape" and still making it casual and accessible for a different audience, we've gotten the best of both worlds. As always with these things time will tell, but we're quite confident about it. You guys also came out recently with "Armies of Gielinor," which takes place in the "RuneScape" universe. Do you guys have plans to put out other things taking place in the "RuneScape" world eventually, or was that a side project that turned into a fun game? It actually was a side project that we thought would make a fun game, and it ended up being tremendously successful. Probably one of the most popular games on the [FunOrb.com] service right now. And that taught us that "RuneScape" has an incredibly loyal fan base and is a strong IP, so we'll probably do a lot more with it, but that's a reasonably new element. "Armies of Gielinor" is a great example of what FunOrb was made for, to test new things without having to spend millions a big project. One of the things Jagex likes the most is inventing, be it a whole new product like Mechscape or a game like "Armies of Gielinor." I don't think it would be fair to our creatives to just shoe-horn them into the "RuneScape" world, we like doing lots and having fun, really. But, I do think we will look at other "RuneScape" opportunities. And, at the same time, I'd like to make sure we remain innovative outside of that sphere as well, because we can. So is 2009 still the "Year of upgrading 'RuneScape'" for Jagex, even if you're going to be looking at other opportunities? Yeah, that strategy was actually set by Andrew pre-myself taking over. And, you know, I think it already had a lot of momentum. And you're going to see a ton of upgrades on the game from content and gameplay to graphics and stuff coming throughout the year. The problem we've got is that there are so many opportunities. We maintain documents we call master plans, these lists, are of all the awesome cool things we want to do. And the challenge is the list is like 300 projects long. We're always wrestling with the top 10 on the list, and it's always "That's cool, we should do that." "No, let's do that one." It's hard, what do you sacrifice? So the hardest thing right now is not deciding what we could do; the hardest part for us deciding what not to do.. So that's where we are. The order of projects tend to change rather fluidly, but I think that the overall trajectory is kind of set on what we want to do with "RuneScape." But if that changes you'll be the first to know! [laughs] Thanks for taking the time out of your two-job schedule to talk, Mark! I'll let you get home now! [laughs] Thank you! Take care, Brendon!
  3. Wow that is seriously pretty [bleep]ed up, I mean really the content being delivered by the Post Office is of no business of the Mailman's to make judgment on somebody else, your job is to deliver the mail and that's it.
  4. I make videos every few days which are RuneScape related, here's my latest one enjoy. [yt]LaoKNPoUuHg[/yt]
  5. Yeah it is pretty interesting, I wonder what it'll be used for. I'm hoping a quest. For anyone interested in seeing it who can't play on High Detail, here is a video below I took of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaoKNPoUuHg
  6. Not sure if it's been posted already but just noticed these. Lumbridge Guide [hide=][/hide] Lost City Entrance [hide=][/hide]
  7. Thanks for the input, I think next time he calls I'm just gonna tell him bluntly that it's getting boring hanging at my house all the time and that we have to chill somewhere else from now on ^_^
  8. Shut up and read you [bleep], f2p is the main focus of Runescape now :) and yes we do bring some money in the basket. I've had it with all the f2p bashing idiots! Oh yeh Lordjake you know who it is ;) and I bet you spend 10k hours on rs as well ;) olololol f2p the main focus of RuneScape don't be silly. They say that crap to get more people to play and hopefully become members. Oh yeah and f2p brings in TONS check it out! If I'm not mistaken f2p's "income" is declining.
  9. Well here's the deal, I've known this guy about probably 10-12 years. We haven't really hung out at my house up until l2-3 years ago when my family moved into a new bigger apartment that my mom felt comfortable in with having guests over. My cousin told me a while backs he thinks my friend is a mooch because all he does is come over play my video games and eat our food, I didn't think anything of it (he told me this a few weeks ago) and lately as I am with my friend at my house I do notice that he is mooching it seems. He also lies to, for example he came over once at 2:00pm he was playing the 360 I was on the laptop in the living room reading manga no big deal. 5:00 rolls around and I tell him yo, save your game in a minute I wanna play whatever game his response is what? I just got on the game! I said no..you've been here since 2:00pm and it's 5:00pm that's 3 hours he says what? No I got here at 3:00pm, so I'm not gonna argue I said ok whatever go ahead play. Sometimes at my house he'll stay over until 11:00pm or sometimes earlier than that usually when it's earlier and I tell him he's got to go home he normally stays 15-30 minutes extra ignoring the fact that I told him he has to leave and when I remind him he's got to go then he gets up and leaves. Now recently we were in my friends store talking about some random crap about video games and someone in the store called him out for not having a console and playing at other peoples houses constantly. So of course everyone in the store laughs for *****'s and giggles and I guess he got pissed so he took it out on me, he turns over and tells me what are you laughing for mother ****er you don't even got a job! Starts insulting so I throw some back at him about how he's constantly at my house eating my food playing my games and how he's never had a console for about 10+ years. He called me up last night to see if he can come hang out, I told him no cause my cousin was coming over which I thought he was but he didn't. Long story short I don't want to hang out with him at my house no more so I need to know what's a polite way of telling him we can chill outside at the mall or my friends store or something. Or is the best way to put it to him to tell him bluntly?
  10. yawn, an article about free to play. I think I'll pass and not read.
  11. The lying down animation caused graphical bugs. Solution: Remove it. Dont work hard in order to fix it, and so be more knowledgable about these types of bugs in the future, no remove it. Dont remodel it to a different version of lying down instead, make it sitting down as a replacement - What a great, dull, bland and boring action to watch my character perform! Anyway, it seems like this is Jagex all over in recent times, many of their updates have had serious flaws and now they seem to always resort to the simpler option. I am glad Jagex are working hard for the gaming community, but sometimes issues such as the one above - promoting their own slovenliness - bother me. What do you guys think, are Jagex doing a great job or have they confirmed the belief that they work around hard problems. (No Flaming please, and its a discussion point not a rant) Is this the first time they've done this? Or have they done this before? If so when? can you point it out?
  12. I personally for one don't like twitter, Seems to me people are just growing pretty damn lazy this day and age that they need to get updates from their friends family co-workers news sites in under 140 characters or less. I mean really how lazy of a person must you be this day and age that you can't pick up a nearby phone or your cell phone even and call up someone? Or how lazy must you be that you can't check your favorite news site? How lazy must you be that you can't email or instant message someone to communicate with them?
  13. I've only met one RS player in real life and no we haven't kept quiet, we've talked. Yep I would admit I play RS, why wouldn't I? Nope, I'm not getting keylogged.
  14. Well seeing as the Wilderness is somewhat back I can see prices in potions starting to rise again.
  15. From what I heard in the youtube videos of him the guy sounds like a total jackass. He should perhaps be banned from America as well.
  16. Yep! Went to my mall today knowing there was a Cash 4 Gold booth set up so I went up and asked if they gave cash on the spot the woman told me yes they do. Gave her a Chain and Charm I had bought a few years back for $40 dollars. Turns out I got $80 bucks for it at the Cash 4 Gold booth! haha! Here are pictures below for proof, I wasn't given a receipt or anything.Though the woman there was nice, I forgot to take my ID Card back after trading in the Gold. She was nice enough to find me in the mall after overhearing me tell my friend I'm gonna treat her to lunch now that I got some money at a chinese place. My Gold Chain (haven't worn it in ages, it just gathers dust) http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/2701/chain12314.jpg Cash I got leftover $56 bucks after treating my friend to dinner and buying mom something small for mothers day. http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/6774/cfgmoney.jpg
  17. anyone got a picture of the coupon I can print out and use? EDIT - Found it, will this one work? It looks a bit shady to me >_> I called the local KFC nearby me they said I can cut the coupon off the paper so I don't have to bring the whole big thing. http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/oo39 ... ebsite.jpg
  18. I call it the ring of crap. I tossed all mines out of my bank ages ago.
  19. I don't see why anyone would join RuneVillage really, maybe because it has the word "Rune" in their name. I personally cant stand going there, Hiker's begging for cash to keep the site paid for kills it for me.
  20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgvBQYg_9fM
  21. Yes some sites do pay out, it's just a matter of finding out who does and who doesn't I for one can vouch that I've been paid by Cash Crate for about $15 dollars.
  22. If you haven't heard this woman sing, I highly suggest you do she has an absolute beautiful voice and I can guarantee you'll be touched by her lovely voice. She is 47 years old went on Britain's Got Talent and sung her heart out, stunned the audience and left Simon Cowell speechless. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8 ... re=related
  23. I got a suggestion, I'm not sure if it is possible to be done but I think it'd be a helpful one. I for one always forget to do stuff like Tears of Guthix and few other daily tasks set in game. So my idea was for a Calendar/Notepad option. Now in this option You'll have a split screen access where you'll be able to click to open up the Calendar or the Notepad. The Notepad can be used to keep notes say of what drops you got what you just did or whatever you want to put in there. The calendar I think would be great if we could set events on a certain date in our calendar at certain times (The time will be based off the time we use on your PC maybe there's a way Firefox can recognize it since it is a Firefox extension? I don't know) and at those times to remind us you can maybe have the Microhelper flash a certain color? Or put an aura around it and have it glow or something to alert us that we got something we set up to do?
  24. I just secured my account. If you want to secure your account without clicking on his links just do the following. It was very easy to follow a few simple steps and confirm. 1) Go to the RuneScape home page. http://www.runescape.com 2) Go to Account > Then Account Management. 3) Enter your User Name and Password if prompted to do so. 4) Click Email Registration and follow the instructions from there.
  25. Well it's already begun, the Free to Players on the Rants forum posting about how they want Skill Capes for Free Players. As sad as it is I expect more of these topics to come from them.
