coming from a cell phone background here.. wireless signals are NEVER the same hour to hour honestly ..... temperature and humility change the wireless signals dramatically... and if your using a signal from a mile away.. expect 300-1000 ms ping to be the norm for a long distance.... unless your using cellular.. in which it will vary greatly on the signal

virtual dub will merge the divx files for you.. you do need to have the divx codec bought though to reencode... though there might be issues with the frames per second not matching and such?

I would check the S.M.A.R.T. data on the drive and see if there are any major flaws (in the bios there should be a setting to turn this on) then get speedfan http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php it will have a option to look at the drive and see a in depth report that goes against others that have the same drive as you that should help
