  1. washing trucks, I am not doing it because in the summer the heat + soapy water is unbearable I call uber bs on this. Unless your dad owns some company and decides that he will let you work for one hour a day and make $40. If this is a legit job why don't you post a website or the name of the company, because I will happily work for this company. yeah because everyone who washes cars has a website to go along with it :wall:
  2. I work in the finance department of a helicopter assembly company.
  3. i think my earliest memory of the top f2p list was when it was top 50.
  4. the 'mentos + diet coke' act would be pretty cool to see - I imagine they'd put on a really cool show.
  5. I don't know how many (if any) of the vaccinations prevent spreadable diseases/illnesses, but those vaccines should be mandatory. Any others should be (very very highly) recommended, but not mandatory. If someone wants to risk getting polio to avoid a needle, more power to them.
  6. hey, remember when stocks went down 700 points after mccain unveiled his economic plan, or when they tumbled nearly 300 points in the last 2 minutes of a Palin speech? The fears in the current market are much too big to be effected by the victory of either candidate, especially since Bush still has 2 months left. and somewhat off-topic: I actually heard a kid in my stat class use the words "obama anti-christ hitler black panthers" in the same breathe today. I was curious why he was in class and not at a KKK rally.
  7. I'm not saying each of those phrases are pointed towards the greedy, nor is anyone saying Obama would make the wealthy give all their money to the poor. There are plenty more references to helping the poor in the Bible, have your pick of them. I was merely providing proof that the Bible is about spreading the wealth and helping the less fortunate.
  8. Um, you may want to re-read the Bible. The Bible is all about helping the poor and SPREADING THE WEALTH. "Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked." - Psalm 82:3-4 "He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God." - Proverbs 14:31 "Jesus answered, If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.'" - Matthew 19:21 "When Jesus heard this, he said to him, You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.'" - Luke 18:22 "If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?" - 1 John 3:17-18
  9. To say that I'm very very very very happy would be an understatement. Not only was it a resounding overall victory, Obama kicked [wagon] in my home state of PA.
  10. Indiana, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina (barely), South Carolina, Georgia and Florida are now swinging McCain. Vermont is in the bag for Obama though. Edit: Things are taking an interesting turn now. ^ precisely the point of not taking the early results seriously
  11. Tell that to every news channel. They want people to keep watching, so what would you expect? If one news station is reporting results, regardless of their accuracy, all the other stations will have to do the same to keep up their viewing numbers.
  12. it's pretty pointless to say a candidate has won a state 10 minutes after the polls close, and less than 1% of the votes are taken into consideration. don't get too caught up with exit polls or any of the guesswork, until a much larger percentage of votes are included.
  13. I don't know about other states, but I know Pennsylvania and Florida are expecting 80%+ turnout.
  14. Palin's dire, and has no presidential qualities, let alone vice presidential ones. She has little to no knowledge of the wider world, foreign policy and economics. b-b-but she's a maverick!
  15. Stealing Creation certainly sounds like a fun minigame. I don't mean to start that ridiculous 'what does f2p deserve?' debate, but I hope it's available to f2pers :-$
  16. I guess disagreeing with your party 10% of the time is the prerequisite for calling yourself a maverick now *shrugs* And I never said they have the exact same policies. 90% is 90%, not 100%, not 50%. edit: and i'm quite enjoying the SNL tonight; the opening skit was one of the best i've seen in awhile, and i was surprised how well Affleck pulled off the olbermann impersonation.
  17. There's more to being a p-mod than knowing all about RS. If you've been playing RS for like 7 years but act like a d-bag, it's not likely you'll get pmodded. But if you play friendly, help people out, and report scammers, it's much more likely, even if you haven't played that long. But to address the question, some are worthy, some aren't. A topic didn't need to have been made to answer it.
  18. Wow I'd love to see McCain actually try to use that argument, lol. Firstly, you're assuming McCain and Bush would've differed on 2 of every 5 (or any minority) issues per bill. With McCain backing Bush 9 out of every 10 votes, you can be quite sure that's it's not just a coincidence that they voted so closely. Secondly, not only would he immediately be laughed at, it could then be said that anyone's past voting record doesn't mean much of anything. "Oh I only voted for the bailout bill because it would give wooden arrows a tax exemption" Republicans couldn't claim Obama is a radical liberal anymore because he could use the same excuse you're trying and say he only agreed with 51% of the bills he voted for.
  19. are you [bleep]ing serious? :wall: It's fine if you don't acknowledge Obama's credentials, but if you honestly think Lincoln was an awful president, you may need to re-think your definition of a "good" president. magekillr already said this, but Lincoln is consistently ranked in the top 2 U.S. presidents of all time. You already answered yourself. People outside the U.S are still greatly affected by the its actions. The disaster of the Iraq War, the financial crisis, etc... all of them have affected the world, not just our country. Other people are allowed to be scared that someone who's voted with Bush 90% of the time may become president. I mean, the U.S was stupid enough to elect Bush again in 2004, so I don't think other countries have much faith in our judgment to begin with.
  20. There are plenty of nationwide polls out there to choose from. Majority of them conclude that Obama has an ~8 point nationwide lead, while others have the lead being higher/lower. I think the Reader's Digest poll you're referring to was taken over 4 months ago, so you can't exactly conclude that McCain is winning today by 2%. The DJI was 'only' down 8% on the year then, while its down 40% today, so you can see how things can change.
  21. He lives here. Which makes it worse. You think he'd realize that we don't celebrate it by walking over a bridge of Mexicans. bridge built by Mexicans*
  22. I don't see how you can watch Msnbc and not know. I mean Msnbc makes Fox look like Pbs or something. I mean when you see Keith Olbermann anchoring coverage of the conventions, It is just so blatant that they are in the tank for Obama and the democrats. At least I got to see Olbermann make a fool of himself. Foxnews has Bill O'Reilly and Karl Rove. How much worse can you get than that? O'Reilly constantly makes a fool out of himself, so maybe people have just grown accustomed to him. Yes MSNBC is one of the most liberal channels, but don't try saying Fox isn't as bad.
  23. The situation Lincoln faced is drastically different from the one McCain is involved in. And Lincoln didn't become a great president due to the fact he suspended habeas corpus. It's one of the few blemishes on his otherwise outstanding record as president. I mean, the guy helped save the United States, abolish slavery, and create the Department of Agriculture.
  24. Obama isn't proposing to let individual communities issue a ban on firearms because he closed his eyes and randomly picked something out of the Constitution. Guns are inherently dangerous, and if a community chose to ban them, they should be allowed to. I don't know of anyone that's been killed by a drive-by shouting match or 'Our Father', so I would have a hard time believing anyone would recommend banning free speech or religion. Obama: As a general principle, I believe that the Constitution confers an individual right to bear arms. But just because you have an individual right does not mean that the state or local government can't constrain the exercise of that right, in the same way that we have a right to private property but local governments can establish zoning ordinances that determine how you can use it. Obama :While a complete ban on handguns is not politically practicable, I believe reasonable restrictions on the sale and possession of handguns are necessary to protect the public safety. In the Illinois Senate last year, I supported a package of bills to limit individual Illinoisans to purchasing one handgun a month; require all promoters and sellers at firearms shows to carry a state license; allow civil liability for death or injuries caused by handguns; and require FOID applicants to apply in person. I would support similar efforts at the federal level, including retaining the Brady Law. And speaking of taking away Constitutional (and human) rights, McCain has a history of opposing habeas corpus. -- The Military Commissions Act of 2006, which McCain backed, effectively eliminated enemy combatants' rights even if they were held on US soil. The 2008 Supreme Court ruling nullified it, but McCain's vow to keep fighting for it has disturbed some human rights activists and legal specialists. McCain called that ruling (which established that foreign terrorism suspects held in detention at the US military base at Guantanamo Bay have the constitutional right to challenge their detention in civilian courts), "one of the worst decisions in the history of this country"
  25. I do agree that McCain seems more... alive, during his rallies. He doesn't make those weird grimaces so he looks more friendly and presidential. (Although I wouldn't say he's reached the same level as Obama's speeches.) As for Obama ignoring the Constitution, I haven't heard anything like that on the news so I'd like to see where you heard that. McCain, however.... back in June he protested a Supreme Court ruling which upheld habeas corpus (which is protected in the Constitution). Obama has never said that he wants all guns banned. He believes in the 2nd amendment, but if a local community decides for itself that it wants to issue a ban on firearms, then it should be allowed. That doesn't mean no firearms at all... it means Mr. Johnson from down the street might not be allowed that bazooka he always wanted. "Speading the wealth around" - Taxing the very wealthy companies/individuals a bit more, and helping out the less fortunate families that need that extra $500 or $1000 (or however much it is) more than the millionaires and billionaires. The rich still have a lot of money, and the poor have a better chance of paying for groceries or education or whatever. Sure it sounds socialist, but there isn't much difference between this and donating money to charity. The wealthy pay money, and the poor receive it. It's just that the rich won't feel as warm and fuzzy when they file their tax forms. Obama isn't suggesting we ditch capitalism and set up communes all over the country.
