  1. People who don't get the fast cash quickly can't keep up with the rise in price, and their money becomes less valuable. Um, if they invest their piles of cash into items, then they will keep up with inflation. Next! Yes but if everyone does this it just causes a never-ending problem. Inflation in any situation is bad. If you really can't see that... i'm concerned. Care to try and back up that statement other than just saying that it's bad? Off Topic: Don't be concerned for me buddy. I'm on track to live a pretty successful life, thanks to my education.
  2. Assuming jagex deals with it properly. They have been aware of the problem for a while now, and have done nothing to slow it down, which makes me believe that Jagex want's inflation to continue. Uhm, thats stupid... why would they want it... It makes everything a lot harder for the newest of players... Explain how?
  3. have you watched the documentary "peoples republic of socialism"? because if you have you would understand what im talking about. and i watched that video, tell me what i made up that that goes against? I can't watch the video now, as I'm at work and youtube is blocked, however the head of my department at my university(who is from China) always talks about how the US has to compete with the Chinese in terms of becoming a technological power. I've never been over there myself, but he makes it seem like they have more advanced technology then we do. (btw, I'm going to trust a credible primary sources as opposed to some documentary) goodluck finding it on youtube meaning it is a documentary by Ted Koppel and is actually available for purchase and was featured on the discovery channel. It is the first look at the modern China, the first American documentary that was allowed by the government to be shot there. And i'm talking about the general population btw, do you think all of those over a billion ppl have office jobs? But it is your choice to trust a worldly accredited source or your head of department . I meant the didyouknow video. And trust me, I'm sure I could find the documenatary on the net if I wanted to, and btw just because someone made a video about it, doesn't make it legit. And I never said they all have office jobs, I just implied that it's not a third world country, which is how this thread portrays it.

  5. More than likely, he would be able to sell leather for a proportionally higher amount...so really this makes a better money making method for lower levels(as the cost of tanning stays the same)... however, it all balances out with the fact that the items these lower levels are going to want to buy are going to be more expensive... eventually 26king(because the artifacts have set prices) will not be such a great money making method.
  6. The price of a partyhat when I started was much much less than 1m(i'm thinking around 100-200k) On the flip-side I wasn't able to get a rune 2h, because getting 1m gp(which is what they cost at the time) back then required at least a month for the average player. So this is an inherant part of the game.
  7. People who don't get the fast cash quickly can't keep up with the rise in price, and their money becomes less valuable. Um, if they invest their piles of cash into items, then they will keep up with inflation. Next! And then they have no cash to use. Because of the grand exchange, most items are pretty liquid, IE you can exchange them for gold almost instantly. Next!

  9. Explain why inflation is bad in Runescape(Without using any real life comparisons.
  10. Although inflation may have something to do with whips, its mainly because pkers are loosing whips faster than slayers can sell.Plus, the fact that looting a statue/icon apparently protects over anything, successful pj's will remove whips from the game. As for p pots, they've been rising ever since BH was released. its not just barrows runners and slayers using p pots lightly every hour... its pkers constantly dieing with them every few seconds. Yeah, people get pissed because they think that inflation is causing everything to rise, and then they point out only certain things that are rising, but what actually could of happened is just simple supply and demand. What's the easiest 99? Arguably fletching(possible cooking...w/e)... PVP drops have made it easier for a lot of people to gain some cash. Most people have a goal for a skill cape. So more people with cash = more people buying for a 99(if they didn't already have)..meaning Yew prices rise. If it was simple inflation, everything would be rising.
  11. Just because it's banned, doesn't mean it's gone. Heroine is a banned substance in the US, but how come people still trade it? If people want to product enough, laws and rules don't matter. Yeah but with laws and rules will give a risk that might make gold farmers consider. vietnam is a huge place for gold farmers too, dont forget about them ;) There is already a thread to discuss the effects of Goldfarming being banned in china. This one is to discuss PVP. Not trying to be a wannabe mod, but I was about to reply to your thread with a response when I relized that we were way off topic :)

  13. Why are people acting like China is a third world country? Althrough you can't compare RWT and Drug sales, this is a similiar style of market, yet we don't feel sorry for those making money off selling drugs because the government is trying to stop it... China has more money than the US, and a large population. There is a lot of poor people in China, but the ratio of poor/total population is probably a smaller number for china than the U.S. As to Great_one...you should check out a video on youtube called "Did you know". I feel like people just make [cabbage] up for fun these days....
  14. Doesn't fix the problem, just turns pking into an aspect that caters to the rich. So now, instead of people carrying around warrior rings, they'll put on a set of barrows armour and protect item. Again the only way to fix this problem is a complete revamp, not minor changes.
  15. No, he's saying that with mid 70s attack level, (it seems to him) you hit more eften of players wearing armor then with 99 attack under with the same situation. This would be really weird and since he hasn't shown any proof whatsoever, he's probably wrong. It must just be his perspective then. I could monitor all the damage I did at 98 attack and all the damage I did at 97 attack, and because of the nature of the formulas which include psuedo random numbers, there is a possibilty that I could show that 97 attack had more isntances of hitting above 40 then 98. In reality it shouldn't be like this, but it's possible. So he could go out with two different accounts who levels are exactly the same except one has 70 attack and one has 99 attack, and do 1000 rounds of combat. The 99 should show more instances of hitting, however, because of the randomness, it would be possible for the 70 attack to show more chance. That's why people like strength. It includes no randoms. With x str lvl and y str bonus, their max hit is z.
  16. I think the quesion the OP is trying to ask is in terms of PVP where you're combat level determines the level of your opponent, is it worth the combat levels of gaining 99 attack, or is it more beneficial to just stop at 80ish attack. For instance, if I have 99 80 99, I should get beat by someone who has 99 99 99...however will 99 80 99 beat 93 93 93? maybe thats not what he's asking, but I'm sure 100 post in a row of 99 attack > 60 attack was getting redundant.
  17. Comparing 26k'ing to Monster Hunting is outrageous... When 26k'ing, you without a doubt, risk no money. Depending on the person, you can (really) risk tons of money trying to get lucky at a Boss Monster. Drops are based on luck, yes. But risking nothing and sitting in front of a T.V. while you gain EP is wrong... Sorry Saruman, you are sadly wrong I've lost probably 2-3m during my "tricking" days, and I've only netted 10-15m, I've also lost a pair of agility brawling gloves, which I would value at another 10m. So to say there is no risk is ludicrous. I've also accidentally attacked a person training agility while waiting at the the pipe. I decided to finish my dds specs as i've already attack them. Kill them for around 1m in loot, thus proving that I'm not the only idiot who forgets to turn on protect item. I know many people who train in claws risk the mandatory 75k because the thrill of koing a pker while they are training is very satisfactory. Let's not forget one thing about 26king. I'd like to point out that I'm not over zealous about 26king. Although I do partake in it, I'll agree that it enables people to gain cash at an alarming rate. However, any nerf that ruins 26king without revamping the system completely will ruin pking as we know it. Heck, it's ruined right now. I watched my friend spec out a guy in claws+full veracs who was skulled. His ep was around 80%, he lost around 30 for the kill, and his total drop value was < 300k. The reason the system is this way is because of RWT, I know. The reason 26king brings in profit is Jagex has to compensate. If everyone always received a drop value of less than what the opponent lost, then in theory we would have the opposite problem(deflation), but because there would be no benefit to pking, pkers would leave the game.
  18. I hate how people make suggestions without looking at the whole picture(btw, not anyone in general). You can't just nerf part of the system, because as it is the whole system is flawed. Under no circumstances should I pk someone and get a lesser drop of what they lost, but they make it random to combat RWT. So to make PVP appealing, they give you a chance of obtaining more than your opponent risked, which is why 26king is being abused. There is no simple solution. Pro's and Con's with everyone. The sad thing is that Jagex's bases there decision on how it will combat RWT and not on how it will effect their legitimate players. Of course, there are reason for this that I understand. I would have to agree with Jagex that an inflated game economy is better than: 1. The game not existing because of RWT. 2. Removing pking from the game 3.Drop systems that fall in between that lower motivation to pk because of lack of gameplay.
  19. This would not work, as the math doesn't even make sense. A ratio of what you risk compared to what they risk? and then you multiply by an arbitrary base 10? So in the first situation, you multiplied by 10^8(which to why, I'm curious)...so if your opponent risk 80,000,000 with you, you would receive? 10^8? or 100m? I know a way I could manipulate that with a friend. The second situation is completely [wagon] backwards. This time you multiply by 10^3. So if my opponent risks 1 gp, you would recieve 80,000,000,000?(which is out of range of a signed 32-bit number...so i'd be impressed)...
  20. There is no way to tell the physical location of an IP address except for the a rough estimate as the location of the node. Using any sort of IP lookup website or tool reports that my IP is over 50 miles away from where I physically am. I was thinking the same thing. It's crazy some of the things these kids make up. I'm a little confused of what he means exactly by he "runs a server". And as people have said IP bans and MAC bans can easily be overcame. /thread
  21. Oh? Mind proving why CS and Godwars "trashed" the game? I'm wondering how CS ruins the game too :\ Yeah people often say that Coinshare induced inflation, which doesn't really make sense because money in is almost equivalent to money out.
  22. This point might mitigate the harm that the trick might cause, but don't mistake that for a justification of the trick. Slayer is an intended part of the game. It is designed to be (and is) fun in its own right. People will (and do) pursue slayer even if it is not all that "profitable." The trick is not like this. The trick is an accident -- a mistake. It was never intended. It has no intrinsic merit as part of the game. It is pursued only for the reward by those who seek to gain an advantage in the game, never for its own sake. If the reward is removed, the trick will disappear. (For philosophy buffs, the difference between slayer and the trick is the difference between a "natural" good and a merely "instrumental" good.) Anyway, even if you are right that the trick might eventually inflate itself to irrelevance, that does not make it a good thing, it simply would mean that the trick carries the seeds of its own destruction. But you should not compare slayer to the trick -- there is no comparison. With this post, I agree. There should be no trick. But this is Jagex's challenge. Propose a pk system in which RWT isn't possible, there is an incentive to pk, and it isn't able to be manipulated by a system that redeems more profit than the original intent. So far, Jagex has failed, however maybe they feel they have succeeded. I don't think so. With the death of the 26k trick, comes the death of pking, unless Jagex revamps the system. Currently the thing I hate the most about pking is that I have to stand around for a half hour in between kills. Next in line the fact that if I pk someone, causing them to lose 10m in gear, there is a good chance that the drop I receive will be much less than that. So I hate the current pvp system because it flaws pvp, however I do enjoy the fact that it encourages training other skills(with brawlers) and that it is good money.
  23. I'm sure many of Jagex's employees have taken Micro and Macro. Maybe Jagex is about to introduce a skill that requires quite a bit of cash to be in the game, otherwise prices would be driven down. Eitherway, after so long, 26king won't be the most profitable, just like slaying isn't as profitable as it once was.(and from this, slaying and similiar skills will become more profitable)
  24. Didn't your momma ever teach you that two wrongs do not equal a right? It may well be that pking is messed up. The problem with the 26k trick (along with the new cash drops) is that it threatens to mess up the whole game, not just pking. I don't blame you for taking advantage of the 26k loophole in the system -- that's what people will do. It's up to Jagex to close the loophole. I'm sure they will. I just hope that things don't get out of hand before that happens. I don't think things will get out of hand. One good point that you've made (although I'm not sure that you know that you've made it) is that there is a built in governor on the inflation rate. Once inflation drives the price of legitimate drops so high that real players can make more money farming legitimate drops, people will turn away from the 26k trick. The key is the price of the statuettes -- once inflation makes the price of statuettes seem relatively small, then the 26k trick will be like picking flax -- you can make some money at it, but only newbs will do it. I don't get why you have to downplay me like that. You treat me as if I'm an idiot. I understand the issues with inflation among the real world, but in a game like runescape, I think that these problems will eventually work themselves out. And sometimes two wrongs do make a right, however this decision isn't based on rights and wrongs as I would compare it more to taking two different routes. If I'm going from A to B, and the safest way there(for the rest of the populatioN) is to take the designated roads, but I know it's faster going through residential area, then I'm going to take the route. It's up to the State(Jagex) to deter me in taking other routes by putting up stop signs, speed limits, police..etc. In order words, I'm going to keep 26k'ing until it either works itself out(which you agreed with me that it's possible), or Jagex does something about it. I'm not a bad person as that title ussually comes to anyone who doesn't play the game the way it was intended to be played, I just have to play smart(finding the best way in most cases) because of the restrictions of my playing time due to my personal life(work, social life, girlfriend, other responsibilities).
  25. This is an excellent point. Jagex has created the classic perverse incentive, which induces people to do precisely the opposite of what Jagex intended. Watched a guy who was training agility claw spec ko a pker and gain about 200k in runes...the pker was in full ahrims, fury, infinity, whip...and this is why I 26k, because Jagex's system is so flawed, that pking the way its intended is worthless.
