I would have never known of this quest. I reminisce of the days when you picked your class when you created your character.

Since when was RuneScape ever meant to be a single player game? Anyway, to answer the question, the amount of time required to level in this game without the aid of another player would go up probably six or seven orders of magnitude. Group questing, such as Mort'ton would be impossible. Probably no one would be maxed, or approaching the 1,800 mark. In short, playing RuneScape would be significantly less "play" and a helluva lot more "work". I like the analogy, although it seems as if runescape already requires quite a bit more work. As everyone has touched on, the game would most likely cease to exist, especially removing NPC trade. There are a lot of things that make a game like runescape compete with games like WoW such as (in order of importance IMO): 1.Massive amount of free content. Even though Jagex over-exagerates this a tad bit, the truth is you could play this game for hours without ever paying a cent(although I think it would get boring). 2. Player to player interaction. WoW excels in this as well, but games like Fable 1, Oblivion, Baldurs Gate are very fun games, but lack this content. 3. Afordability. The game doesn't have amazing graphics and started out on very poor graphics. This allowed the game to be cheap and stay cheap... There are more, but you get the picture. Take out one of those, and you pretty much have a failed game.(Although I bet that they could remove number 1 at this point due to the amount of time invested into the game by it's member base, but it would surely lead to an earlier downfall)

[hide=Long quotes!!] 1) Try to run RuneScape without Java. 2) RuneScape is programmed with a scripting language (RuneScript), which is built on top of Java. So yes, you do need Java to run RS. I knew about this, not to thrilled about it. Heard some rumblings that it would be done in C#, which doesn't seem right - why wouldn't they use C++ for this...? You missed his point Its written in runescript whihc a java app inteprets. Therefore all they need is to write a matching c++ or w/e app tht can read runescript and boom same game diff paltform No, I'm certain that he meant that RuneScript was its own standalone language, which I pointed out that it wasn't. Also, porting from one language to another is actually extremely difficult. (Ironically, that's why Java exists. :P) Getting RS to run on another platform, such as C++, would require porting some familiar Java-specific API calls, perhaps one to ArrayList, which simply does not exist in C++. It's possible, just tedious. But that is neither here nor there. ;) EDIT: And this is why I always theorized that porting RuneScape to consoles was all but out of the question. There's a chance that you could use QuickChat, but using that to communicate with other RS players is about as helpful as using a foam cup to call your cousin in Hawaii. I dunno, I'd actually like to see how they could pull this off. [/hide] Just to keep this escalating from a flame war, you did in fact misinterpret what I said. Right now, I could not run runescape on my computer without Java because the game developers are using Java as the medium (Java is a universal language, and thanks to OS dependent VM's, it can run on multiple OS's/Platforms). Please don't treat me as if I don't have an education. I currently intern at a F500 company doing, guess what? Java Development. I hate Java, and never learned the language in college, so I couldn't tell you the advantages of Java over C++(Which I enjoy because it allows direct modification of memory, which Java doesn't allow, which is 1. more efficient and 2. better for hardware oriented people). Thankfully I am a fast learner. Back to where I was going: Right now I couldn't run runescape without a Java, but as you said, it would be possible to port from Java to another language(c++). Regardless of difficulty, something you learn in the business world is that if it has potential for profit, difficulty often takes a back seat. And I don't know how much of Jagex's code is tied with the use of Java exactly, and I doubt you do as well. Because of this, it's impossible to predict how difficult the transformation would be. For one of our projects in my Comp eng classes we were asked to make a program that would read in an assembly document, make sure it assembled in assembly, and then convert it to embedded C, and then make sure it compiled, and if not, output the errors. This was difficult for amateurs, but for an expert, would prove to be a simple task. I would assume that it would be similiar for this instance. Also on a side note, I would expect them to use C# for the fact that XBox is MS and pretty much the same reason for C#'s existance(however not required for the 360, so who knows where that will go). Edit: Vivia kind of touched on what I talked about, which I didn't notice til after I posted, so sorry for the duplicate content.

own clients: does nothing to prevent detection log out every 10 hours: better use a random number, or Jagex is going to notice a trend random giberish: have to be pretty advanced to make a conversation seem normal ... Almost all bots these days are scripted..in fact even auto clickers are scripted...you just don't view the script. And coming from someone who knows a lot about testing, if it can be automated, it has trends, and if it has trends, then it's detectable. It just takes a lot of man hours on a large scale such as the player population for runescape.

and I love oblivion...I think it's going to be a download game though, like castle crashers... and you don't need Java to run runescape(you use a sun java vm). Runescape is programmed in it's own language. I'm sure they could tweak it to run on any platform.

lmfao, no one gets falsely banned because of people reporting them as a macroer anymore... that hasn't happened since back in 04. they can tell the difference between someone actually macroing and someone just not responding. Anyone telling you they are innocent is just trying to avoid the embarrassment that goes with being a caught autoer. And no, not all bots get banned... only the truly blatant ones get perm banned. hell, I macroed one of my friends pures to from 80-94 magic without even taking very many breaks to reduce suspicion and you can clearly look up "illlinois" he's still not banned, and i macroed his magic about a year and a half ago. How would u know? And since 2004? Puhlease

Greens are not only better xp, but also better cash. Also, the difference in color of their hide doesn't change the boring factor.
-
You don't have to accept the experience, but you miss out on quite a bit of xp. 1 def pures arn't very good these days anyway...
-
Use cannon on every task you can as it makes tasks go by much quick(if you can afford it, but remember time is money). Regardless of multicombat, be able to hit 25's on a target with range while hitting it with melee is beneficial.
-
also, if you like pvp, you could try to gain some potential and 26k trick(which seems to give more brawlers than actually pking), firemaking becomes an easy 99(about 1.3m xp per brawler)
-
Well my join date was before yours, and I remember them being down for what seemed like a month(when I switched over to rune village for a while, which was lame)... and aw, yes...Scapeboard. Good times
-
Obviously you're p2p, yet you're making f2p rates with decent skills. I suggest green dragons with your 80+ combat stats, even with using a protect melee and prayer pots, you should pull off around 300k an hour minimum. Also, BGS isn't that great. The only thing worth noting is the accuracy. Otherwise it's slow, two-handed, and expensive. People always gasp at a dm fighting godswords, but the speed of the whip trumps the accuracy.

The agility arena is fun for about 50 tickets, then it gets very boring... I think that training in wild on pvp/bh world (pvp would probably be better) is more benneficial. You can risk 75k, and gain drop potential and it's better xp. Throw in brawler gloves and it's massive xp.

Scenario: Bring a familiar into Fight Caves
n64jive replied to Kirbytimes's topic in General Discussion
yeah...I would predict people would use a bunyip for healing early on. Otherwise, Jagex would probably have Jad attack the familiar and that wouldn't last long -
There was a public beta months before (available to members first, and eventually everyone)...I had been playing runescape for quite some time during the transition. Ironic, around this time, the Tip.It forums were stolen and destroyed. I can't remember the domain name then, but it wasn't the friendly forum.tip.it (in fact, I believe it was something like runeboards or something of that nature). This was quite an interesting time in runescape history. In fact, runescape history is interesting in general. I suggest you reading up on it.

Remember, Time is money. Do something that is faster, like monkfish, because 1. you get money from monks, just not as much, but maybe more if compared to the amount of time and 2. You'll get your 99 faster.

They were being manipulated a few days ago. Might want to check the GE.

heres the thing...if everyone sells for high, and everyone buys for high...then prices raise...however, even if ppl buy for high, but you sell for low or mid..prices fall... because of this, the buyers control market. Thats why merchant clans are successful, they get large amounts of ppl to buy for max, and prices rise...This is why dumping is often confused. Even if all the leaders dump their items, but for high...the prices will continue to rise...the thing is, once everyone else tries to dump...there is no lower level buying the items...so they are unable to sell their items. This causes panick, and thats how prices plumet. Sadly the game is played by kids, who do panick. If no one panicked when their items weren't sold, prices would be able to be manipulated by a greater amount. I don't blame merchant clans for taking advantages of Jagex's flawed system...I blame Jagex.
-
Yes...Search the KB jagex states clearly what requirements of gaining potential are(they even suggest ways to gain potential)
-
Keep it in cash...830 mil is a lot on runescape. Better to know u have it then to fear the items crashing. Selling ur expensive non_rares is a good idea. Good luck

You all are forgetting one thing! Jagex unbanned these accounts because of an error on there part. Its like I get charge with a crime, claim innocent, proved guilty, repeal, proved innocent, and then start my life again. Even if jagex can prove that these accounts macroed, if they unbanned them, its not right for them to reban them after the customer invested into the account(time or money). Jagex should give a chance but keep close watch in my opinion(parole)

I've been doing this for the last couple of days now, and although it seems I did get lucky at first, it still turns a profit either way. I would say the lowest profit I've gained from 2 hours total time is 100k which is pretty low. However, I would say I averaged a 500-600k profit, and many of times I gained close to a 2m profit. If one was able to get very lucky, they could easily come out with 10m+ but I don't know the drop rates for the rarer items. It seems that the amount you lose previously affects how much you gain in some instances(but not all), which could explain why I gained so much at first (I died for over 3m a few days before this first happened)...However, I gained a 2m profit without losing anything previously, so it's unsure if the systems works this way. Also, I spent around 5 hours in the wild at one point, and didn't notice a significant gain over the 1.5 hours spent in wild, so at some point your potential tapers off. Again this was one trial and could be proved differently by multiple trials. I do find that the best thing to do is make an agreement with your bounty hunter target. When I just swapped kills with a friend, the reward was significantly less. Also, if you let your target kill you first, you still get a good sized reward killing them immediately after. This I see as Jagex's flaw, because it encourages this technique.

I always question a lvl 120 who obtained the cannon in the first place not knowing that cannons degrade. I can understand not understanding a new update because people take breaks and miss them. But an update that happened back in rsc...geez

I say give them another chance. If they actually macroed, then the game is going to be boring training legitly. Also, if they have been banned for a while then any advantage they gained macroing is offset by the lengthy ban(except for the fact that they didn't gain the levels themselves)... Give them a second chance, if they get caught again, drop the ban-hammer. off topic: Honestly, I don't see macroing as a terrible thing. Runescape is a grinding game that is very repetative. Macroing teaches a low-level real life skill (programming/scripting). In my opinion, it would be pretty cool if Jagex implemented their own macroing system. Make it so you have to develop your own code and that copying code results in revoking the privilage. Because there is no copy and paste in runescape, the only way people would be able to do this is to type it all out and then someone else copies it. Similiar to how schools teach programming languages, if some code is similar, both the person who copies and the person who gave them the code would have the privilege revoked. I'm sure there are many flaws in this like similar code by coincidence and I'm also sure that many people will disagree with this, and I'm positive this would never be implemented, but it's kind of a fun idea.

They always make a "aim price"..The person who makes the most money is the person who spends the most...As long as they play it right, which isn't all that hard. It gets into two separate catagories...the very rich, and the poor. The poor in this case are spending about 10m on it, and these are the people who get screwed. The rich are spending billions on it. It all starts with a group of billionaires deciding to invest a large portion of their assets into 1 item. Because of this...the market gets bought out and starts to rise(supply, demand). They start to tell these merch clans about it, and thats where the poor come in. They see the rise, and think as long as they dump before everyone else they'll be alright. About this time, some of the rich quit buying and start selling(making pure profit). Prices continue to rise, and the poor think that have waited long enough and dump...When the poor dump, as long as enough rich are buying...the prices will keep going up...more poor see that they're not going down, and buy in. This continues for a while, and pretty much what we get is gems going around in a circle, switching hands. Then all of a sudden the rich get together and say "hey, ok, this has gone on long enough....quit buying, start selling"....as long as their is enough money in the poor at this point to cover the cost of the rich, the rich come out with a big profit, and the poor end up with a large amount of gems. Now no one is buying gems, because the rich bailed out, and the poor is full of gems, not cash. People start to sell, with very little activity, and they sell at min price, still hoping to make a profit. Because of the small demand, these items begin to crash, and continue to do this... This happens viciously with items, and your not at a complete loss if you hold on to the item instead of just trying to get rid of them. At some point, the rich will start the cycle over again, and you can partake to break about even. I know thats probably confusing, and I could show it well with a visual presentation, but I just don't have time to do that now. I suggest that if you want to try and make money this way, you read up on ecominics...because it's just a modified basic supply and demand.
