  1. anyone with basic antivirus (not to mention just using firefox) wouldn't have to be worried by any banner that could be malacious. I wouldn't be too worried about getting some sort of virus from the runescape website. It's comparable to chances of getting aids....possible, but very slim.
  2. Takes up too much time for the average party-goer. Plus I learned that no matter how many acheivments I achieved(for lack of a better word), i'll always be paying $5 a month for something that although I enjoy, really have to bore the heck out of yourself to be good. And in the end, when its all said and done, i'll have spent hours upon hours on something that has no effect on my life. I figured finding a better hobby, something that when i'm done with it, that I can at least tell stories about or get some kind of gain, would be a much more wise decision.
  3. If they only allow one item at a time, I don't think it will have much affect.(I never know the right effect/affect to use)... However, If I can put my whole bank on there if I please, I predict it is going to have a major impact on buying and selling. It most likely will have some sort of search system. The only real problem I see is if they have a sorting system. If when a person is searching for things to buy, they can pick "lowest price first", this will drive the prices of everything down, due to the fact buyers will always be able to find what is lowest priced. I can't predict what will happen, but I know that this definitely has the possibility of having huge affect on the market.
  4. This really makes no sense at all to even have fishing. I've never experienced the assist system, but from what I heard, you have to stand around and not do anything while someone else uses your skills. So instead of fishing the sharks for myself, i'm going to instead stand around, make sure I don't get logged out, while I watch this guy fish sharks. Even if I do get the exp, i'm not getting the sharks. Why wouldn't I just fish the sharks myself? This post seems [developmentally delayed]ed...
  5. People seem to forget...If new rares were introduced in the game through this method...for normal players to get them, they would have to pay normal prices for them. All this would really do is take money out of the game, which in fact would increase prices. Even tho there would be more rares, no one would be able to notice that. In otherwords, if more rares magically came back into the market, but by being paid for by normal means, it would have no effect.
  6. Why do you care who you buy from? Do you assume you're helping stop macroing by not buying from macroers? If you don't buy from them, someone else will. The solution to stopping macroers doesn't rely not buying from them in-game, but out of game. If people quit paying money for rs gold, the macroing problem would be reduced to people who macroed would actually play the game because they liked it, instead of as a profession.
  7. Jagex isn't going to do something so deceiving...Like people have said...if they wanted to introduce rares into the market, they would do it publicly. For some reason I think the Grand Exchange is not going to be an in-game feature. I'm probably wrong, but I could see it being like forums. Where you can put items you have for sale in a database, and people buying can search the database. Most likely, this isn't going to be the case, I think it would be interesting to have an out-of-game feature.
  8. quitting and coming back is none the less taking a break, which is something that is good for all runescape players. So really, once you quit for good(hacked, or just actually never come back...) that is when you can say you quit. In otherwords, I don't think this poll has much bearing.
  9. The author of the review is very biased. Wanting runescape to be as "good" as WoW is just plain ludacracy...Runescape is a Java based browser applet...graphics are at the limit. Pretty much all the author is doing is comparing the game to WoW... Depending on your taste...either game could be better than the other. If you like to do other things on the web while playing...Runescape is better. If you rather spend all your focus on the game...play WoW...not saying that runescape doesn't require much focus(with the 1 minute log-out rule...i suppose you will have to switch screens, make a mouse click, and switch back).... I prefer runescape for it's point and click style...compared to the complexity of WoW... Just because WoW is a more complex game, doesn't mean it is better(nor does it mean it is worse)... Both game's have an appeal to different audiences. Both games are great. There are such things as bad games, which would be games that have no appeal to the vast majority of all audiences. However, someone may still like to play that game. Halo as an example. No one can argue that Halo 3 is not a great game. However, you can argue that you don't like the game. Just because your opinion of the game is unfavorable, doesn't mean the game fails all together. A person's opinion only means something if that opinion is shared by a large portion of the audience, which is pretty much where the term "user feedback" comes into play. If you argue that hotkey's among other things make's WoW a much better game, you could be right...to some degree. Many might rather have a feeling of using one hand solely for functions while using the other for movement, and somehow throwing in a hand for camera angles in there too. However, many who play runescape like being able to keep one hand on the mouse and the other on the arrow keys, and having every action controlled by certain clicks and movements of the mouse. People often forget that there still is complexity in runescape. Using only the mouse, in certain situations you have to switch between different menu's selecting different functions(turning prayer on, shooting a spell, eating food or drinking a potion, switching between armour, using special attacks, switching attack styles...ect) I think the overall rating of a 5 is very undeserving. Runescape isn't a 10, but that's just because it still has many flaws.(bots, repetition, poor graphics, vast amount of players tend to be immature)... However, it does have a massive player base, and has a very high last appeal...not to mention the gameplay is pretty good. I'd rate somewhere between 7 and 8....with it's only drawbacks being what I mentioned above.
  10. I like runescape because it's a point-and-click kind of computer game. Only other use would be arrows keys to adjust camera angles(new hotkeys are a joke...who actually uses them instinctively...and keyboard for typing. If I wanted to play a game where different buttons had different functions...I would play Halo or something of the sort. I don't want to have to memorize hotkeys. I hate that style of gameplay. Even tho I'm in college, I can afford the $5 a month(as well as more if I would care to pay for more), but would rather not pay more due to the fact that I have very little time to play(compared to the kids who can spends 8+ hours a day on it)...So I do believe if they did raise the price, I would quit playing due to the fact that I wouldn't be getting my money's worth. It's not that i'm "poor", but more so that money can be better spent on things such as clothes, beer, food, and a gf(dunno about the last one ;))...
  11. Are you living life to the fullest? ^^Exactly what I was trying to say in my post. While playing MMORPG's, you often spend "Massive" amounts of your time on something that won't matter later in life. I use the example if you would of spent that time working. Then, at least when you were done with that "Job" you will still of had that money earned to show for it. People took my post in the wrong direction, and thought that I was saying you should have worked every our instead of playing runescape. No, that is not the case. There needs to be some fun in your life. I just think that playing runescape all day to "pass the time" is an undesirable way to live life. You have no stories from runescape. You can't tell your kids and grandkids about the time you got a dragon chainbody from a kalphite queen on a video game. Or how you and your clan pwned DI at MB and then DS came and salvaged all the loot. I don't have a problem with playing runescape when you really have nothing better to do. But putting off other important stuff so you can instead sit in front of the computer...just doesn't seem right. Either way, excellent article to say the least. I'm amazed that we're having the same thoughts right now.
  12. I never meant to turn this into a "You should work instead of runescape" post..it was just a mere example... I know that it's very important to have a good mix of fun and work. Currently, I'm attending college, work during the afternoons, party with my friends every weekend/some weeknights... For me to throw runescape into the equation wouldn't be possible...Over fall break, I was bored back in my hometown, and this is when I started looking at forums again..and decided to start up another membership. My membership has been running for 9 days now..and i've probably had time to play a total of 5-6 hours...
  13. I've been playing runescape since early 2002, so i've always known that it is a game that takes a while to level up. That is not my epiphany. What I have recently discovered is that the general runescape public knows that it can take a year to get level 99 in one skill, playing an average ammount a day, yet no one cares. People are willing to spend years of their free time on this game(and why shouldn't they..it is their freetime) to gain acheivments and goals that in a few years arn't going to mean anything. Kids drop out of highschool...don't study for exams in college...don't go out with friends..because they would rather stay up all night playing runescape. Isn't their something wrong with that? People throw away their lives over a video game that will give them no advantage in the real world. Think of this: What if every hour you spent on runescape, you instead spent working a job making around $8 an hour. How much money could you have. And that's just if you spent working at a low wage job. What if you spent those hours studying for tests, gaining knowledge to maintain a 4.0 GPA average in highschool to get into a good college, and continue that excellence to get a degree, which leads to a six figure job? How much better lives could many people lead if it wasn't for runescape. People need to forget the demise of runescape, but instead think about the demise of many young kids lives. Now, I know a lot of people do still excel in life, and put it first...please don't make posts pointing out how you still live a normal life...I understand that. This is just something to think about. Don't say its not really a problem...because I've talked to many who talk about their life, which seems less then desirable.
  14. at one time(recently) xmas crackers were worth more then blue party hats...so many would gamble hoping they get a blue by cracking them on their friends...
  15. seems like some sort of ginger snaps recipe...with pecans and other things
  16. Before Jagex introduced fatigue...there was only a plain pickaxe. You'd click on a rock and it would say either "You mined some .... ore" or "You failed to mine any ore"... Then Jagex introduced hard and soft rocks...which was introduced with fatigue and beds. Then Jagex introduced sleeping bags and also introduced different pickaxes which would mine the rock for more swings then a the lower level pickaxes. When these pickaxes were introduced, Jagex decided to make them unsmithable..probably so runesmithers at the time wouldn't make a huge profit off of them(instead, people who could click faster did, because Jagex only had one pickaxe spawn ever 15 minutes or so...and the pickaxes that were being bought at 31k were being sold around 100-150k
  17. nature rune prices are affected by more then just shop prices. Nature runes are mostly consumed using High Alch. The easiest things to high alch are yew longbows, magic longbows, or steel plate bodies. Yew log=350 gp ea Bowstring=200 gp ea Nature=300 Yew longbows high alch for 768 gp...that means that people are getting about 1 xp per gp plus having to make all the bows.(which they also get xp for). Now yew logs have supposedly risen.. so don't use this as a "guide"...just as a mere example. anyway, if you raise the price of the nature rune...a person will pay 900ish to make and high alch the bow...and receive 768 back... which means they are getting about .5 xp per gp...might not seem like a big deal...but doing this would cause people to train magic in a different way...which would kill the nature market. So in-other words...if nature prices raise to 350 ea...people will find another way to train magic and there will be no need for natures...which will inturn shove prices down.
  18. Exactly. Scamming a scammer still makes you a scammer..scammer. If i read it right, didn't he just hit accept before the scammer could take away the money? Doesn't that mean he almost made the scammer trade honest? Which doesn't make him a scammer if you think about it. Really all he did is almost get one past the scammer. Still, not thread-worthy...agreed.
  19. What a loser lifestyle. Honestly...why don't people understand that there is more to life then runescape? O well, why should I rant...it's not my life.
  20. depending on how old you are, i'd say just goto a bank..open up a free checking account put some money in it and use a visa debit card. you'll probably have t have a parent sign on with you if you are under 19 in the u.s.
  21. i got around 60 an hour 60 an hour? so if this guy has 3500, that's only...58 hours on runescape. Around a month if you dedicate 2 hours of everyday to sitting in front of a computer and killing blue dragons
  22. tbh, jagex is ruining there own game. Jagex can no longer upgrade to level 80 weapons. Anything they put into the game is going to be too strong. You can now hit 52's with whip with the new prayer.
  23. just merchant's trying to take advantage of the situation. The new prayers are still going to be there 2 weeks from now. The autoer's will even out the prices here shortly. Give it a couple of days. DON"T BUY BONES RIGHT NOW.
  24. It's not that they don't dislike pures. It's more that a group shouldn't have an advantage of a different group because they have less levels.
