  1. I'm trying to understand why anyone wears full rune into the fights. In order to get a decent drop, you must risk 25k in gold. A full green d'hide set, Rune Scimitar, Amulet, and helmet is around 25k if you don't protect. Why doesn't this become the new f2p pking standard as: 1. It waste less time, because you won't hit all those zero's with full rune. 2. It doesn't make the drops you get any worse. I was hoping that somehow this would reverse some of the damage caused by the rwt updates...but it's still the same...nothings change...runescape still sucks.
  2. Story seems fabricated... Questions: 1.How did the hacker get the password in the first place. 2.How did the hacker get the new account name, unless he pmed his old account first...seems impossible that the hacker would go through and randomly add the same name with different numbers. 3.What motives would the hacker have of training the account. 4.Getting 99's take extreme amounts of time. You suggest that he got multiple 99's on the account. Even if the kid was at lvl 98, the hacker would probably get bored. Someone who is malicious enough to steal account would do whatever he could to hurt the account. If he couldn't transfer the wealth the kid would either just drop everything, or sell the account on some RWT website. Seems like we have a case of 3rd grader attention seeker
  3. I wonder if these cards are activated when scanned, or if they are pre-activated and could be stolen from the store for activation. From my experience, many employees at target are SCUM and often thief anything that is easy to. also, if Target discount applies to these cards, it would actually be cheaper membership for target employees(10% of 22.50= 2.25 off or 20.25 per membership)... I think this will just lead to a new way of real world trading, but at least Jagex see's the profit this time. At the same time, it could get rid of real world trading if people were previously doing it because their parents refused to pay for memberships. In conclusion, Good seems to slightly outweigh the bad
  4. Well i'm not going to be very much help because I would rather see Runescape be filled with cheaters then have all these restrictions(sorry, i'm pretty conservative, and I liked things the way they were)... however, because Jagex already has the game in lockdown, it probably shouldn't be in vain...because of this, you are right, there will need to be some sort of restriction.
  5. after playing for 6 years, I quit runescape. I have nothing left on my account due to the fact I gave it all away to my friends... AND YOUR GONNA TELL ME I'M NOT AN EXPERIENCED PLAYER BECAUSE I DON'T OWN A RARE!? You shouldn't judge whether a person is an experienced player due to the kind of "ornament" this person wears on their head. And I still don't understand what's so special about being a "experienced player" in the first place. Everyone, not matter their experienced, is babied equally by Jagex these days. Which is why I have given up this game. I don't want someone half way around the world telling me how to play a game. Off Topic: I don't plan on coming back to this game, but the new update kind of interested me. Which explains why I'm on these forums. Also, Hi to anyone who remembers me.
  6. I recently cleaned my bank...everything is gone...gave all my money away. I have no desire to start runescape back up for many reasons. 1. I live a busy life, there is SOOOOOOO many things that are more important then RS. 2. I feel I have outgrown it. 3. My college life is more important to me.
  7. And now they issue a statement saying they will improve the system. No matter how many improvements they make, RS is going to feel like your a young kid who has to have every action watched by someone. Freedom in rs is gone.. I'd like to know the amount of people who are going to quit after this update.
  8. Well, there are two types of the poor. The LAZY poor, and the simply unfortunate. The lazy poor, want everything handed to them, the unfortunate simply can't hold a job, they may be sick, or were never able to get an education. And also, if you need to know one thing, know this, economic equality will NEVER work. If you try to get it where everyone is equal, you will simply destroy any chance of anyone working hard, and busting their butt off to get ahead. Besides, look at 1900s Stalinistic Russia. The goulags (spelling? Not sure how to spell it.) where people died everyday, and since everyone is equal, everyone is poor. So yes, I think opportunites should be given, but not over and over again. If they don't try and work hard to make money, then they want to be poor. No drug can change a persons moral values. It doesn't matter what drugs you are on, if you understand that killing people is wrong, you won't do it. He obviously felt that everyone besides his friends and family were terrible people, and deserved to go with him. He wrote something like "I've been a piece of [cabbage] my entire life, and i'm going to take as many other pieces of [cabbage] along with me."... He's just a loser. Go ahead and state that people possibly calling him a loser contributed to this act, but the fact is that he was a loser in society. He took innocent people's lives to make his pitiable life seem significant. What a selfish [bleep]off.
  9. Congratulations Jagex, You have succeeded at making your game so terrible, no one in their right mind would pay for in-game items. With all the recent changes, runescape now feels like a completely moderated game. You can't do anything now, without it having a set limit. New players will still play runescape, but those of us that like the game for the old way, it's time for us to move on. Sorry, I can't elaborate more on this post, as I have class, but those who want to leave their opinions, go right ahead. Btw, if you want to post "give it a chance", again, feel free to do so, however, I won't give it a chance. I don't want to have to adapt to a completely new game. I liked it before without all the restrictions. If this meant a game full of cheaters, I wouldn't care, because it was much easier to adapt to them, then to the recent changes.
  10. I goto college in Omaha. I had a friend who was walking into Von Maur(the store it took place in) as it was happening. A bunch of people ran out the door and told her to run as they ran by. Honestly, the world we live in today is very depressing. Kids think "Oh, my life sucks, [bleep] it, i'm taking as many [bleep]ers down with me as I can". Honestly, I see this as a trend in runescape. Kids lives suck, so they get away from it by playing runescape. I don't understand how a person can't strive to be successful. The cool thing about living in the U.S. is if you try hard enough, even if you're born poor, you can grow up to be upper-middle class. Sad story that so many people had to die because this asshat thought he would be going out in style.
  11. don't blame the farmers for ruining your game...They are just trying to make a living. Blame the Americans who pay for their service. Without them, these farmers wouldn't of had the idea to sell virtual items. The chinese are not the source of the problem.
  12. It shouldn't matter if people pk in party hats. It's not like there is a huge issue if someone was pking in a phat. I think this would actually be a good idea. Even tho market prices are controlled by the want of the item(which in the case of barrows set is the one you lose when you die), wouldn't changing this just even out set prices? That way 1 item isn't ridiculously expensive compared to the rest of the set? I see no issue in changing the protect item to market price value.
  13. It could be good and it could be bad. It would change pking in the sense that if food was dropped as loot, you could no longer use that food to replenish your stock at that time. However, that could be countered with the fact that you would now only need 1 spot per pile of loot. Also, it would be difficult to see what loot you were picking up. The question is do the pro's outweigh the cons?
  14. so far, no complaints... This update actually makes merchanting easier(to the extent that it is foreveryone easier...) the problem is, it's only 5 percent, which at low number(such as raw materials) leaves very little room for price difference... Almost everyone will sell for the highest and buy for the lowest...which could be a problem.
  15. very well written and very correct. Some aspects of the dueling system are ridiculous, yet the idea is very good. Tourny dueling could be the next most fun mini-game up there with barrows and dagganoth kings. However, the current system is flawed. I also suggest maybe instead of allowing food(which drains bank account), make health-patches or some other means of healing and potions available around the arena that can only be used in the duels. Jagex clearly rushed this update, which makes me believe that there is a possibility that trading as a whole will be removed in next weeks update. It is quite possible that this game will goto hell in a handbasket in a hurry.
  16. to many people act like this game is their life...which in reality, it's possible that it could be. I've read through quite a few post, and many people say things like "Runescape is going through a tough time, things will get better after it all settles in"... That may be true, but IT"S A GAME. I can't stand to sit here and watch it be compared to real life. This reminds me of what the Husker football program is going through right now. Bill Callahan sucked, many people claimed we'd just have to wait it out, and things would get better, and eventually Huskers will be back out on top. Now my argument is ironic and you could say contradicting because football is also a game, but let's just put that aside for now(mainly because it's a lot easier to talk about football in a real life perspective than a MMORPG)... The thing is, I like how runescape is. Autoers are a problem, but the damage has already been done. It's not very hard to live with autoers. It doesn't really affect your playing as much as you think. Why remove such big portions of the game that change entirely how the game is played to stop such a minuscule problem. Making these changes will probably stop autoing and real life trading, but as said, it will also change the style of gameplay. Many people will quit playing(because it's a game and they can, it's not real life), if such drastic changes are made. You don't want to change your successful game style if it works to stop such little problems. I can't emphasize enough how little the autoer problem really is.
  17. The thing is this doesn't stop the real world item trading problem at all. I don't know exactly how Jagex detects it, but my guess is they have a system that looks for unbalanced trades. Why can't they just implement a system that looks for unbalanced stakes... Jagex must have an ulterior motive..but why? Why change a system that has been the same since it was implemented over 5 years ago? What Jagex did is comparable to only being allowed: 12 Magic logs an hour, 40 yew logs an hour...ect 40 natures an hour...ect 1 rune ore per hour... In otherwords they set a limit on the amount of money that can be earned an hour. This is not how runescape has ever been. The fun of runescape is you can play it anyway you want. You should not be forced to level skills you find boring. You should not have to play the game how everyone else plays it. This doesn't seem like a decision Andrew would of made..I have a feeling someone else has decision making abilities. Maybe Andrew doesn't even work for Jagex anymore, but it was never announced because they didn't want to scare away any subscribers...but that's just a assumption, and we all know what assumptions do. Again, I do not like to stake, but I feel some of the recent decisions Jagex has made are a little extreme. Btw, the way you talk, you don't understand the new system either. You can't even stake 1m per stake until you have the highest rank, and in order to have that, you have to have extremely high combat stats. No more lvl 90's-110's stakers making good money. Also(sorry for the poor organization of this post, I'm just posting as idea's pop into my head), If I risk 100k, go through the tournament, get second...Not only do I not gain anything out of it, I only lost 100k...so it's not a big deal to me. Stakers like staking because it gave them a rush...made the game extremely exciting. They could either be among the richest in runescape, or cleaned out and have nothing. It's exciting. The new system isn't.
  18. KBD148: Your post is not only biased, it is also very stereo typical. What you argue is like saying that because the majority of black people are poor hoodrats that live a life of crime, all black people should be punished.(Sorry if this offends anyone, it is merely an example). As to those who say "Find a new way to make money.": Why should these people have to find a new way when staking was primarily a permanent part of this game. Staking has been around almost since the start. People who have been staking for years as their primary money source should have to change the way they like to play? NO! I suggest that these people quit if Jagex makes no change. I suggest that you all quit. That's like Jagex taking out the entire skill of runecraft...afterall staking has been around longer then runecraft. What's to say that they don't take it out? Jagex is in the wrong, and if they don't make any changes, I suggest everyone, affected by the update or not, quit. Who knows how long til Jagex ruins what makes the game fun for you.
  19. although you can blame the autoers for giving jagex the idea to make this decision, it is still jagex's fault for making such a rash decision. I don't stake, as you know, but I believe punishing honest players to help stop RL trading is wrong. Not to mention that this hardly effects RL trading. People will still find ways to RL Trade, and staking will still be ruined. Honestly, I expect the update to be fixed...for the time being, stakers should prolly do something else they find fun(or maybe try the new arena)... If nothing is changed, and the 3k cap remains...i think we'll be seeing many problems in game besides the fact that you can no longer stake for money.
  20. Don't blame stakers for being able to make 100's of millions in a matter of hours.. That's part of staking. It's similar to gambling. Don't forget that stakers can also lose everything they have. I don't stake, but this will have a huge effect on the market. If jagex doesn't change this back, most stakers will most likely quit. That's a lot of money that is now suddenly taken out of the game. This could cause the prices of everything to rise...or fall...depending on a certain factor. Demand. Rares were a huge part of staking as well as merchanting. The demand for party hats will be lower due to the fact that stakers will no longer buy them with the cash they made from staking, but the demand will also raise if these stakers all just quit playing runescape. Serously, most staking is one of the more invigorating parts of runescape. I was never good at it, so I never got into it, but when I did do it, it was a rush that I could possibly lose millions of gp. Money making is all about manipulating the game in a way that you make the most money the fastest. Runecrafting, for exampe...People spend hours runecrafting natures. Runecrafting was not originally meant for you to sit all day doing the same continous thing to earn a large amount of money. Nothing Jagex implements is originally designed the way that it is actually used most of the time. By saying that this is "abusing" the system, you state that not playing the way jagex intended it to be played is wrong. In that case, camping is wrong. Is jagex going to set a cap on the amount of abyssal demons you can kill pure hour? Is jagex going to set a cap on the number of tree's you cut per hour? If jagex going to set a cap on the number of trades you make per hour. Jagex was in the wrong by changing something that has been the same since the start of runescape, just to "help stop RL item traders"...by punishing legit players, jagex has ruined their own game. Autoers/RL item traders are a problem...you can't solve it by ruining the experience for legit players. If jagex keeps this up, it will ultimately lead to their demise. Many people do not realize that this update, if left unchange, could have massive effects on the game other then just getting rid of staking. In a sense, Jagex messed with the past...who knows what they may have screwed up in their future.
  21. The current update ruins staking. Staking is a very big part of the game, whether you stake or not. People spend thousands of hours creating characters that are specifically designed to be good at staking. This update takes those hours and flushes them down the drain. I do not stake, however, I believe this update is greatly in the wrong. I don't understand why they can't implement the new arena as that. A new arena, not a remake of the old arena. I believe this update may be fixed, as their seems to be no bearing as to why you would limit the amount you can earn an hour staking to 12k.
  22. By definition, an addiction is something that is habit forming, or causes cravings. I believe many people are addicted to runescape and don't realize. How strong this addiction is, is hard to tell. People get bored. When your bored, if the first thing you think to do is play runescape, you may have an addiction. If you have something that you need to do(a school assignment, work, ect.), but instead you kill valuable time playing runescape, you may be addicted. If while not playing runescape, you often think about playing runescape, you might be addicted. If you find yourself logging onto runescape, and then just sitting their without actually doing anything in game...only to logout...go and do something else, start thinking about what you could do on runescape, go back to runescape, doing what you thought about doing, find that boring, log out...you may be addicted. Many will argue that it's normal to be bored and decide to play video games, and this may be true. However, if playing video games is the only way to satisfy your boredom(in other words, everything else seems equally as boring), you most likely have a video game addiction. The best way to cure an addiction is to quit completely. This is also a great way to tell if you actually were addicted. If after quitting completely, and after a long period of time, you find yourself no longer having urges to play the game, you were most likely addicted, and are no longer addicted. Although it may be contradicting with the above statement, if you find yourself interested in the game, even while not playing it, and you find it hard to not think about it...you are addicted...If you ever go back to the game, you will be sucked into the addiction. But wait...This leaves no win. With my arguments, you will always be addicted to this game, unless you never play it again...and although that seems rash, it is true, because that is how MMORPG's become successful. You always want to come back to play the game, which brings in money for the company. Eventually, every player will quit(hopefully for the sake of the player), but how great of pull the game has on it's audience determines how successful it will be. Think of those flash games that some of you may play. You play them once, you think it's fun...but then you never play the game again. How do companies deal with this? Make sequels. However, it's very unlikely that anyone will go back to play the original game.(Halo is a good example of that)... So in conclusion, if you play a MMO game, and the game keeps you wanting to play more..then the game is addicting, and you are addicted. Whether this is a good or bad thing is different in everyone's opinion. It's your choice, you decide.
  23. Yes, 5 years at least.. what happens then? My guess is it just won't be jagex's main concern and we get less updates (I have a ton to do anyways) And btw, I can't wait for the new games. I'm staying runescape 100% I want the scammers, noobs, and gold farmers to leave though. 5 years is a long time, especially for anyone who has been playing since 2001. 10 years of your life spent on one video game is very extreme.
