Due to the nature of Runescapes point and click style of gaming, integration to a platform such as a 360 or ps3 seems unlikely. However, if Jagex did a massive revamp on the game engine and suited it more for first person hack and slash type gameplay, then I think runescape would do somewhat well on a council(the graphics would have to be revamped as well and ultimately it would be a large project.) Many gamers are itching for a successful MMORPG to come out for xbox or playstation. Something with elders scrolls style of gameplay seems to be the most preferred.

Although it may be a good safety precaution to ground yourself to prevent risk of electrical shock, in reallity of the risk is not great. Computer components have relatively low current(less than .3 mA which is considered the threshold of perception meaning that you would heal a slight shock(similar to static electricity)). However, it is a good idea to rid yourself of static electricity so you don't accidentally allow more current to go through the circuits than what is intended. But if you like to be safe, by some alligator clips.

Something else that I've found interesting is many of the posters on this thread seem to think that for playing runescape they should receive a typical hourly wage(some with prospects of $40 an hour, which is just ridiculous), plus be paid reparation for membership fee's that they have paid to "there" account. I have many things I could say here. First, you don't own the account. You bounded yourself into agreement with Jagex that they will allow you to use their services, however you will acknowledge(and you've all heard this) that every aspect of the game is property of Jagex. No one reads the terms of service or the privacy policy, and I haven't read it either, but I'm sure many of you would view your account differently if you actually knew what Jagex could do with your account with no reason. Second, you can't expect to get paid an hourly wage comparable to an actual job for playing runescape. One poster mentioned a log of his hours and different things he feels should be taken into consideration for what he could considered "logged work hours"...I can't help but laugh at. "...plus countless hours sitting around and chatting with friends"... With that logic I should be being payed right now for typing on this forum, or sitting on my couch for that matter. Third, even if legally you did stake claim to the ability to sell your runescape account, there is this thing call depreciation, which is the only business term I could think of to even come close to describing this phenomena even tho it is completely inaccurate. When you pay $5 a month for runescape, or whatever it is now, you're not paying for nothing. You receive something in return. Therefore, the amount you pay for membership fee's becomes depreciated down to nothing. (Most federal courts acknowledge previous membership fee's as an insignificant amount of money after subtracting what they feel you earned for that membership) Here some information that some of you may know about, but many people either don't understand it, or just don't feel that it works that way. Let's say your living with a roommate and he has some friends over. Things get out of control, and your computer that you spend $1200 dollars on 3 years ago gets ruined. You confront the person and tell them they will buy you a new computer. They refuse and you decide to take them to court over the matter. Legal action should get things rolling and it will lead to you getting the new computer that you deserve, right? Wrong...What is going to end up happening is the judge is going to make a fool out of yourself. Besides many of the other legal arguments that will most likely be made, one thing they will touch base is the cost of the reparation. Your computer worked just as good as a new computer, in fact possibly better than some new computers. The only thing that you feel is just is that you receive the amount of what you have a lost. The judge agree's and tells you this: "Even though you claim the computer worked extremely well, better than that of a new computer, you bought this computer three years ago. You got use out of the computer for 3 years, and you can only stake claim to the depreciated amount of the computer. What the judge would most likely say is that in todays age, a computer isn't usually owned for more than 4 to 5 years...They might give you 5 for benefit of the doubt. There are many different methods of depreciation, but what the judge would most likely use is just lineal. So 1200 years, 5 years...thats around 240 a year for use of that object. Meaning that the person would only be required, by law, to pay you less than $500 for that computer. Subtract the cost of court. So I ended up getting way off the subject there, and if you're thinking everything you're reading sounds like bull, then thats fine, but I want to leave you with this thought. A poster on this thread said he has been offered around 2500 for his "WoW" account. He was then praised for the fact that his runescape stats were "impressive" especially for having a good WoW account as well. I'm not impressed, but instead I see it as pretty sad. The poster then proceeded to say that his time was worth more than any monetary value that could be offered for "his" account(which I stated earlier, he actually has no legal ownership of". So let me ask you this: If you consider your time so valuable, why do you waste it playing MMORPG's all day and instead do something that is productive or worthwhile?

Do you ever wonder what type of person you would be if you didn't spend as much time on runescape. Not saying you in particular play a lot, but to the general runescape audience, what do you think? I just finished my third semester of college, and I realized that there was a lot of better things I could have been doing, instead of wasting my time on a video game. Hell, even macroing would have been more beneficial as at least I would have gained some beginner programming experience and maybe had learned some other skills along the way. Don't get me wrong, There was something about runescape that made aimless clicking seem enjoyable. Goals you set seem to give motivation for playing the game, even when you can admit that your bored. Something I found out that proved to be interesting is that most people who play enjoy setting these goals(85 mining, slayer, 91 runecraft, maxed combat), but once they reach that level, they soon find that sitting in a room fighting abyssal demons all day, or hopping server clicking on a bright blue rock is almost as boring as getting to that skill in the first place. Some day, possibly in the near future, many of you will move on to bigger and better things. You most likely won't regret playing the game, as I don't completely. One of my biggest regrets is allowing this game to take up so much of my personal time. Although I was pretty good about still allowing time for other things I loved, I feel that if I would have put half as much time as I spent playing runescape into other things that interested me, such as computers in general, work, preparing myself for college, spending more time with my family...etc. It is my honest opinion that MMORPG's like runescape and world of warcraft are ruining the youth of today, especially college students. Kids are skipping classes, not studying for tests, not completing schoolwork just to complete repetitive tasks on a video game that ultimately will only have negative consequences on their life in the long run. It's sad to see smart kids throw away their futures over something so minuscule, so insignificant. I urge all of you to rethink where you want to be in a the next 5 years. How successful you want to be, how much money you want to earn, what type of job you want to have, do you want to have a family, and many other important decisions. Now ask yourself this: Is Runescape going to help you get there? Many people say they would never sell their account. Not for anything. It's very sad that some people's most prized possessions are something that they don't even actually own. Most people will become slightly hostile after reading this, saying things like "People have control over their actions, if runescape was really a problem, they would be able to commit to their lives"...but that argument is undermined by all the post saying that people have devoted too many hours to this character to let it go. I will say I am guilty of the same thing. I spent many hours getting my character to where it is now. And I met many interesting people who's company I've enjoyed greatly. But once you finally do realize that nothing good will ever come out of spending so many hours on this game, and you will understand that you could be a different, better person had you spent that time doing more productive.

Seems to me that the lot of you revolved most of your time management around playing video games. Seems unhealthy... -
sharing internet with a USB wireless modem, possible?
n64jive replied to Furah's topic in Tech and Computers
you say you have vista sp1. This is just a theory, and I am inexperienced if it would work, but if the computer has the proper wireless networking card, you could set up a ad-hoc network(computer-to-computer). To do this, go into the network and sharing center, select set up a network on the left hand side, and select set up ad-hoc network. The only way this works is if you connect the computer to the internet via the LAN port and then broadcast your network via your networking card. -
Is you're old computer a desktop or a Laptop? If the old computer is also a desktop, you could take the hard-drive out of new computer and place it into old computer. If the computer boots up displaying a boot up screen(even if it gives a different boot up than the what it is giving now, ie an boot up error because of configuration issues), you'll know it's most likely a video card problem. If you don't know what you're doing...i'd reccomend taking it somewhere for repairs.

Sorry to tell you but if you play MMORPG, you're gonna be classified as a nerd...by society. So do what you like. If you like video games...play them, but if you don't want people to think you're a nerd...than you're gonna have to pick. or do what you're doing and just keep it a secret. When I was in highschool, I didn't let my friends know that instead of going to the girls vball game, or basketball game, i'd rather stay at home. Now I regret even playing this game because 1.I would have rathered spent that time learning useful stuff about computers/electronics pertaining to my major. 2. I would have rather went with my friends and had a good time. 3. MMORPG are for nerds, and I consider myself to be very social.

I don't trust Mod Kathy.... There have been multiple times in runescape history where Jagex Mods were misinformed...and I believe this is the case...she doesn't really understand how the drops work.... I would only trust a veteran Mod on this one...

How did you Feel after a long break from playing?
n64jive replied to dax1224's topic in General Discussion
I came back after a year long break with no cash either...and honestly, I don't like it. I used to like runescape because although the audience was geared at younger kids, there was very little-restriction to what you could do. Now the game is full of restrictions all just to get rid of a problem that in my opinion, wasn't that severe. I came back with no cash as well, and the reason is I gave it all away to friends before I quit. Now I can't have them loan me some back, all because of these restrictions. LAME.. One day, you'll find out runescape is a waste of time anyway...which is good because you have a lot of time to waste(goodluck healing) -
Ranging in PVP using the wilderness ditch
n64jive replied to extremefish's topic in General Discussion
People used to lure because when you were killed...they got your stuff(Usually expensive things because the lure involved the luree bringing something they were selling into the wild)... For revs to be a possibility, you would have to be lured to a pretty high level for there to be any danger...which is unlikely... Honestly, your argument really holds no baring due to the fact that luring just isn't practical for anyone anymore....not to mention there are worst lures that could be done now that arn't stopped by a gigantic ditch... But in any case, I still don't think the ditch should need be removed due to the fact its just a part of runescape...If you don't want to range, don't fight by the ditch. I'm going to compare this to poker. You have good stats, better stats then the other player...lets say your whole cards are AK suited...pretty good hand. The other player has good stats, but not as good as yours...Pocket 6's..Even if you hit both your ace and your king, you should fold if he hits his 6... In other words, even if you think you should own him, if he is using the ditch for an advantage, you either need to get the same advantage, or fold(run and fight someone else)... -
I think something that would significantly help this is giving f2p snare...10 seconds would greatly help improve mage > warrior...only problem is when this comes to multi...any chance that you might of had escaping that clan has now been destroyed.... There is something that everyone should abide by in f2p, and thats if you're not at least 15 people, you should not be in multi combat....

There is a flaw with the lasting effect of pking on f2p. How many people can make a profit pking on f2p? You can't...it's pure loss. Pking on p2p, you can gain a substantial profit. I believe that you should be able to make a profit on f2p, just as you can on p2p. I recently made a thread depicting why I believed f2p should deserve non-degrading dragon weapons. After many post, I quickly agreed with the general audience that dragon weapons with specials would way over-power the melee side of f2p, as well as lose the effect of becoming a member. The thread quickly got off-topic and changed to a battle between why f2p is a bunch of leechers and people who were currently p2p are somehow superior to those currently f2p(which an extreme stereotype and I attribute this mentality to the age of the tip.it population(my daddy is stronger than your daddy)). Back on topic, the whole point of my post was that there is no-lasting effect for PvP in f2p(ahhh, too many acronyms)...Something nice about PvP is that it is not repetitive like most of runescape. However, in f2p, there is very low risk/very low reward. Most of 1v1 fights end in the other person teleing or running to bank with enough lobsters to outlast the remaining duration of the fight. But why doesn't this happen in p2p? Because there is KO potential! Many will argue that there is KO potential in f2p, and there is, but only if both parties agree to certain parameters(No armour, no "safeing", ...etc). This is PvP! I shouldn't have to set battle parameters for every fight I initiate. But the fact is 2 full rune fights using rune scimmies end up in long drawn out battles where in order to KO you would need to hit max hits 2 times in a row(max hit during a pvp battle averages around 23 with rune scimitar, potion, and 15% strength prayer)... For instance, you hit a 23, and the person had 30 health(most people eat when they fall into the 20's)...so the person has 7 health left+12 for the lobby they eat..so they have 19 health left..obviously a max hit would KO the person...but against full rune, this doesn't happen...you hit WAY to many zero's..KO's never happen..it's a waste. So instead of me offering a solution, I'm asking you, the community, to compile a solution to this situation. Build upon eachother's ideas, what do you think must be done to give f2p PvP a lasting effect. Now I know Jagex is a company, and lasting effect in the free version doesn't seem like a good idea...but the truth is, it doesn't hurt the company. Back in the RSC days there was reason to PK on f2p as it was still profitable, and an even better reason to pk on p2p, because it was higher risk/higher reward. Today this is still true, you can gain a profit on f2p, but you can gain a much higher profit on p2p. This is with every comparison of f2p vs p2p in terms of profit(you can gain profit if you stay f2p, but gain a better profit on p2p), except for pking. You most often lose money pking on f2p, and you certainly never gain, where as p2p, you can lose millions, or you can gain millions. If you can lose/gain millions in p2p, shouldn't you be able to lose/gain 200k in f2p?

I kind of know where your coming from, as I kind of OCD about it too...but not to the point where it makes me want to not use it. There is just something about it being unused and not worn....but it's very good armour...

I have a bunch of old ones that got removed from upload....I suppose because of inactivity...The date of all these pictures is 2004 Here was a cool one where you could exploit a trawler bug to fall into the cosmic alter. You could walk around entire different dimmension of the map...it was really cool, and I wish I would of had time to explore the whole map before it was fixed... Cosmic Alter Different Dimmension of runescape...contained a huge hill that you could walk down in 1 step... and a big bush stretched up and down it: Old Treasure Trails: Me and Smavey being dumb when I quit runescape for the 100th time:

Um, Runescape has never been better in terms of keeping cheaters out of the game as it is now...but it's definitely not a better game than it was from rsc to rs2 and then from a year after rs2 to a year before rwt updates.... rsc was by far the best of runescape. No miniclip, there were autoers but they wern't goldfarmers, instead just nerdy kids who thought it was fun to program cheats for the game. Pking was the best it ever was...and now it sucks royally...Pking has turned into a high risk monster drop system.

Tactics... runescapers are smart enough to use them?!
n64jive replied to Snipers_end's topic in General Discussion
Um, welcome to the old style of p2p multi pking... The only thing that beats a clan like this is a similiar clan...or a army of 1000 melee soldiers -
Forget this degrade BS, F2P now deserves dragon weapons...
n64jive replied to n64jive's topic in General Discussion
I agree, I would have...and after all these arguments, I still do. I realize the idea came from myself being pissed that I could no longer enjoy a game that I spent so much time on without paying $5 a month on it... No more, there is nothing exciting for f2p, and I don't have enough time to play p2p....if I want to have fun for now on, i'm gonna do the "noob" thing, whip out my scimmy...and 1 item for enjoyment...honestly, it's the only thing thats fun. BTW, I would gladly be buying massive runesets and letting the cash all goto waste if I never would have gave my cash away just before the rwt updates....and no longer can I receive anything from my friends because of the restrictions....sad really. All in all, I think Jagex took a great game and turned it into a game with all sorts of limitations...but maybe i'm just bitter -
How does taking a rare item, and making it more rare introduce a stable economy. If the item has real benefits(makes you pking god), then the item will continually be sought after

Forget this degrade BS, F2P now deserves dragon weapons...
n64jive replied to n64jive's topic in General Discussion
I hate the attitude of this "we" [cabbage]....I have been paying for members probably years before you even heard of runescape...so don't act like you're superior to me...as for any mods, you can just close this post...it was a idea that required more though(thats how good ideas are made, isn't it?) Some benefits of the post: Many people suggested repairing corrupt dragon items...I think this is a good idea, as the item is rare to get...making a rare item that continually disappears just makes a rare item more rare. -
Not similiar at all...94 mage requires a lot of time which some players don't have the ability to spend on the game. 43 prayer can be obtained in a few hours of play. So you're saying because I have at least 30 mage, I should be able to tele from every pvp fight. Not cool. If level 40 wild had as many players as varrock or fally has, I would pk there because it takes out tele(instead we get running-tree hugging-logging)...

Forget this degrade BS, F2P now deserves dragon weapons...
n64jive replied to n64jive's topic in General Discussion
Thats a good point that I didn't think of...but fixable. Instead of making corrupt dragon weapons last a certain time limit, make the stats less then normal dragon weapons. Or if you don't want to do that, make a whole new type of weapon for f2p that is better than rune, but weaker than dragon. There are limitless possibilities. Glorified demo that I now belong to after spending $300 on the premium. New weapon class, pvp only, doesn't degrade, better than rune, worse than dragon, drop from pvp combat, tradable...also you're not a mod, don't act like one. When a mod reads this post, he'll move it to rants, where it will receive no attention, and die out like all the other posts in the rants section. After thinking about it, this would give runescape f2p lasting effect. Jagex is trying to make money, thus making something free that has lasting effect wouldn't be very beneficial for the company. So I offer another suggestion: Special worlds that are available to members, and former members who gain enough credit. Runescape is a game that requires a lot of time. As you get older, you have less time to spend on the game, which is why I quit in the first place(Not to mention BS restrictions that have been added). I would like to come back to it and play around on it every one in a while...but f2p is boring. It has no come-back effect. I would much rather play halo or COD4 when i'm bored, then come back to a game that has no potential. But this is hard for me because I've invested $300 in membership fee's into my account. -
Teleporting and praying just leads to waste of food. Guess what, you protect melee during a fight...I protect melee during a fight..it's like adding more armor onto us, which in f2p, just leads to longer fights. But if one person does it, there either has to be agreement between people that it's noobish, or everyone has to do it. Because agreeing is difficult, most people just all do it. So this is what we get...a bunch of pvp where 25 lobsters are ate, 1 law, 1 fire, and 3 airs are used up, over the time frame of about 30 minutes....no kills, no risk, no fun. congrats, you are wasting your life. It's like watching those boring videos in science class...You really don't learn any useful information, and you don't have any fun...waste of life.

outfits that last an hour.... IRL situation:I was wearing some sweet new clothes I bought the other day...Paid a pretty penny for them...all of a sudden, the clothes degraded off my body...that was no cool

EDIT: Someone pointed out that dragon items would require change in quests, which is a very good point. I decided that a whole new weapon class, somewhere between level 45 and 55 to wield, better than rune, worse than dragon... 4 years ago, if anyone ever suggested dragon weapons on f2p, they would get the whole "members pay for it, members deserve it"...and I would have agreed...but times have changed, and so should this argument. I believe f2p should now be able to use dragon weapons w/ specials and this is why: Pking on f2p has been ruined ever since the change from rsc to rs2. In single combat, in order to get kills, both players must agree to only eat when falling below the KO limit(for instance, at my level, I must only eat when my hp falls below 29)...There is very little risk of dying, very little risk of getting any loot, so all you really do is waste lobsters...yippee, not cool. A couple years ago, Dragon weapons were the main weapon of choice for members...not the case anymore. The only one used is the DDS, and the only reason it's used is for KO's. The scimitar is used for strength training, but not often. The longsword has become obsolete on p2p, the battle ax is used for it's special when training if you don't have enough money to afford super sets(honestly, most p2p do), the spear has been a joke since release as well as the 2h. The mace is rarely used. In conclusion, if you give dragon weapons to f2p, you making pking on f2p much more profitable/risky as well not harming p2p because of all the items that have been introduced since dragon weapons(whips, god weapons, barrows...etc). Note: I do not think f2p deserves dragon armor...although it is just as obsolete, it kind of cancels out the KO argument. There is more to elaborate on this, please don't just go and flame. Support your statements with valid arguments. I will try to reply to my feedback on any points anyone makes. Optional reading below this point: (Keep in mind, I no longer play runescape, and I have only been on recently to try out the new update...which I think is over-rated, but yes more enjoyable then it has been(nothing compares to the old days of RSC pking). I could care less what happens in the game, and I know dragon will probably not be introduced on f2p at least for the next couple years....but I just think with all these changes Jagex made, it makes no sense to not be able to adapt in other ways) I also want to note that Jagex regulates runescape to much to be enjoyed anymore. People have to wait forever to get lobsters today because of Jagex's new system. Rares are no longer traded because of Jagex's new system. I want to decide what I pay for an item and don't want that number to be capped. If I want to buy lobsters for 400 each, I should be allowed...but no, this would bring back rwt...like the game was soooo terrible with it anyway. The only way it bothered me was if I wanted to train where autoers were training...which honestly wasn't hard to adapt to. I wish I would have quit runescape after the release of rs2, and saved a lot of time in my life. I had fun with the game all the way up to the rwt updates...then no longer is it fun anymore. Games should be like they used to be. I don't play Super Mario 3 anymore, but if I wanted to hook up my old NES and play it, I would still have fun. I don't play runescape anymore, but if I decide to log on to have some fun, i'm met with restrictions, a whole different style of gameplay. It's a completely new game. O well, deal with change.
