If you want to spend the time(and have fun learning) make an excel file and then use macro's and forms to make a user interface where all you have to do is click a button and it records it into a spreadsheet. If you have two monitors, it makes for an easy way to keep track.

I don't like merch clans either, but it makes for an interesting way to make money(somewhat long term)... If you have a lot of cash, you can just stock up on random things you think will be manipulated(or manipulated in the past)... If you notice, these items show somewhat of a sin wave graph. Meaning that if you can manage to get quite a few when the graph is on the low, and just make sure you check it everyday as prices go up, you can turn a pretty easy profit. While they are on the rise, the items are being bought by these clan members for max price...all you have to do is sell them at max price at a point where you will make the money you want to earn. You click sell, you get paid, and you forget about that item...it will eventually crash when the leaders dump. The key is to not get greedy, your already a step of the game if you bought the item in between the dump and the buyout. I would keep that in mind for those of you who have an extra 50m to blow. Don't hate the merch clans, just benefit from their loopholes. (btw, the merch clans don't do that many bad things to the economy...they may get a price to rise for a day, but the price levels out...as long as you don't need that item on that specific day, you should be able to just chill a week until the plummet, where you will end up getting that item for cheaper.

I don't know if that statistic helps them or hurts them...anyone who has played runescape would go insane after 13500 hours on ftp. I'd play rs on 360. I already browse forums while playing oblivion, I just set my laptop on my desk and swivel my chair :). Goodluck persuading ms to allow a completely free download over xbl for indefinite play

I agree with you...the system is flawed...but it's really not hard to built potential...an hour of training agility, and boom...then start pking....ever get any brawler gloves? build more potential...and then go and pk...the thing is I seem to get better things just making agreements then wasting food and scrounging for a pk...I really don't think pking is all that fun...

I feel this topic is similiar to asking if anyone has ever collected zero tears in tears of guthix...sure it's possible, but it's absolutely pointless...

D mace is alot better than dds for pking yes?

To be honest, it's all theory and all luck....I'd say choose one of them and go with it...I prefer dds because of poison... -
I think if Jagex keeps this system then you're going to have to go a different way about pking...You're going to have to build up potential and then pk, and Jagex is going to have to devise a way to keep people from just making agreements. It's not something that one can just think of, it requires a team of planners, and thats really what needs to happen. Jagex needs to work on a new system and not just accept this new system as "it works"...because it doesn't... If you pk the old way, and you have a good day, the value of your drops taper off...The best thing to do currently is to quit once you get a good drop...and either go build potential, or do something else. And the old system used to work the same way...you pked other people that were dress similarly to you...Every pk was like making what I risked (1:1)...only if I got lucky would I get payed off big time, or if I risked more at higher level wilds(mage banking, deep wild, staked(which is ironic, cuz stakes were mostly 1:1, but at much higher levels)).....I don't think it's unreasonable that you risk 250k and make 200k...I think its unreasonable for the people risking 20m and only gaining 1m...
-
A friend gave me 1m cash through this method and he said it's pretty reliable. He said as long as you take the time to gain the potential, you will most likely get the cash drop(assuming around 1m...he said he never tried to loan a friend more than that).... If they capped it at 1m, it really wouldn't be that bad...No rwt is going to want to spend an hour per 1m transfer...and rwters could only deal with 1 customer per hour per account...which kills their business. I would say this solves the rwt problem, but doesn't solve the easy money problem. If jagex introduced a new money making method that made about 1m per hour, everyone would agree that it isn't acceptable. I think I could probably get close to those numbers with this method...

I'd say fasted melee xp is brawling gloves at axe hut on pvp world(assuming no interuptions)...sadly this only lasts for about an hour unless you have multiple gloves...

...I can head to wilderness and stand next to the lesser demons with full food, full armour, dhides, and tele tab...I stand there attacking lessers for a couple hours, soon as any pker comes, run down into KBD lair, tele to my house, and call it a good time to go expel my potential. Also can include go around agility course with 75k coins on you, killing ice giants/spiders in dhide, or even sitting in the middle of the lava maze attacking random npcs. Maybe I've just been lucky, but if I can risk 100k total(75k + 25k loss), to gain over 1m, i'll gladly take that...not to mention it only takes a few hours to gain this potential and find someone to expel the potential on, making it one of the best money making methods around(and its also not grinding)... I made over 4m today by doing it in an unorganize manner. If I could streamline this process, it wouldn't be hard to gain mils from it(not to mention it attracts people to help you out with it, because they gain mils from it as well). I still think it's flawed...but I'll keep on doing it until Jagex changes it, or until it becomes so widely popular that items on the pvp drop table become worthless(I don't see the best ring/best armours in the game becoming worthless)....

From watching vids, it seems that D claws have amazing KO potential(able to hit around 60-70 hp consistently almost instantly) -
So I'm sure this has been brought up many times, and many people say Jagex knows about it, it's part of their system. I think this is another one of Jagex's flaws that they continue to push off as "how things are supposed to be"... Today, I decide to take up pking...I'm a terrible pker...Dragon Claws own me, and I lose a whip out of the whole ordeal...(i'm kind of pissed)... I have some brawler gloves(melee) so I decide to kill some greens...greens are packed, so I decide to use them on lessers and enjoy the 400% exp. They run out, and a friend of mine messages me and asks me if I want to expel my drop potential. He says all I need to do is kill him, and then we'll switch (25k loss).... I agree, and we goto bounty world and I kill him...1.9m worth of items from his drop...he kills me, he gets about 1.2m worth, I kill him, I get another 500k or so worth...he kills me for about 500k...we stop...I've gained back my whip potential...I also gained some more brawling gloves(ranged)...so I go use them in the wilderness. I want to do this with my friend again, but he isn't online, so I sit at bounty world looking for someone willing to do it. I don't find anyone, but instead I gain a target...My target tells me that if I let him kill me, he'll do the same(he knows about it too apparently)...I agree, he kills me for around 800k, I kill him for zerker ring and d hally(around 1.5m)...I managed to gain over 3m in items from simply training in the wilderness. Does this seem right. I also heard that if you are a good pker, you don't get that good of items because of the amount of kills you get. I heard of people killing other people for godswords and not gaining over 1m in items(doesn't seem right). So if someone would start a clan, and organize a system where you train in the wild for an hour, and then you pk eachother expelling your potential, and then you train some more in the wild, you could totally manipulate this system... Is Jagex going to change this, or do they accept it as their system. It doesn't seem right. What does the tip.it community think?

What would it take to kill the Runescape Economy?
n64jive replied to sees_all1's topic in General Discussion
I feel this post is too hypothetical. I feel Jagex did ruin an entire aspect of the game with the introduction of the Grand Exchange, but perhaps they didn't like this aspect of the game. The G.E does make skilling quite an easier task, which is something that Jagex developed. The market, before the GE, was a player made market. Players controlled the prices, and players manipulated the prices. Players scammed, and players merchanted. Players deemed a totally worthless item as investment items. It wasn't the looks that made these items appealing, but the fact that they could only be purchased from other players. Jagex tried to combat rare items with introducing all sorts of head pieces and hairstyles that could be purchased cheap, but it wasn't the same. I feel every update since the RWT updates has made the game more linear. I used to train in the wilderness because I liked the fact that it was less crowded and I could always attack someone who wanted to challenge me for my training spot(a person who would be equally equipped as myself). I find it very difficult to train on pvp worlds. Because my I often risk enough gear to make me an applicable target anywhere, I am killed by pkers. It used to be a pker would search the training spots(like greens) for anyone who happened to be killing greens in expensive gear, or people who specifically take joy in killing autoers...but now you will be killed, regardless. And because of this, training on pvp worlds is pretty pointless. All the crowded spots are going to be crowded with pkers, and all the spots that arn't won't be crowded on non pvp worlds. -
Back before I let my runescape character go, I shared some traits with Joe. However, because I started playing back during the Runescape Classic ERA (RCE), I was able to gain quite a bit of wealth just through small investments. At age 12, when I started playing runescape, I instantly figured out the importance of owning a rare. The price of these items went up just for allowing them to collect dust in your bank. The only problem was obtaining them. I was able to collect santa's and Halloween masks on their drop dates, but I kept my account very insecure, I managed to lose all these items shortly after that Christmas. Thankfully, I had over 500k cash in coal(at this time, that was quite a bit of money), which the hacker didn't take due to the fact he didn't want to put all the work into certing them(remember those days?). Back on track, what I am getting at is as soon as I was hacked, I secured my account, became educated, and invested all my assets into these holiday drops. I enjoyed the skills more than combat at this time, and because of this spent most of my time in the mining guild. Tides have changed however. As soon as Runescape 3D was released, I became more of a fan of combat. I sold my investments, buying all the necessities to finish the members quest that would obtain me the almighty dragon longsword. I began camping at monsters that gave exp, but also had the rare chance of dropping a pretty good drop(Fire giants mostly). One day, Jagex introduced something that would change the game for me forever. Treasure Trails! This is another aspects that I have different from Joe as I always enjoyed reading about the updates. I wanted to find anything I could take advantage of before other players got the chance. I began hunting monsters that dropped a fair amount of clue scrolls and these clues began to consume my runescape life. I managed to gain enough wealth over these to purchase a couple of party hats! Time warp a couple years, and thats where we are now. I just came back to runescape. I managed to lose most of my cash right after the RWT updates. I didn't enjoy the game, and started splurging. Something I have never been good at is pking. Now I'm coming back, doing the things that Joe does. Investments are a thing of the past, as Jagex controls the market. I have some very impressive combat stats, however I don't have the cash to fund of the events. My friends list is wiped out, and I can't get a hold of any of my friends I used to DK with. I am kind of at a stand still. I found pking is more difficult now that it ever was in the past, and I am still terrible at it.

I wish I could get access to Jagex's code...I would love how to see how this works. But after thinking about it, I would probably have results I could see rather than results I couldn't. With any game, ring of wealth introduces an aspect of luck. Kind of like oblivion, supposedly the higher your luck, the better items you will get when you rumage chests/kill monsters. From now on, I'm not going to wear the ring of wealth.

O geez, Happy April fools day everyone. btw, wtf? the literal version is better [yt]Kr2jlCyCJBI[/yt]

My advice...Find a new game. Hopefully a console will come out with a MMORPG. I quit runescape a long time ago, and it was the best decision of my life.

I'm gonna state the obvious and say rape games are bad. I'm gonna state the more obvious and say people who enjoy these games are sick. And there is a difference between games like this and games like Grand Theft Auto. Ask yourself this question: How many movies do you see where the plot of the movie involves being involved in gangs, stealing cars, killing people(war and streets), etc. How many of these are good movies? Gone in sixty seconds, saving private ryan, godfather series..etc. No one gripes about these. All of a sudden you make a video game that does the same thing and all the mothers out there have a hissy fit. Video games aren't just for kids anymore. They have ratings just like movies. If you think a video game is too violent, than don't buy it for your kids. Don't ruin it for the rest of us who are old enough and know the difference between right and wrong. Now ask yourself this: how many movies base themselves around raping woman? None that I can think of. Sure there are movies that may have a rape scene in it, but the whole point of this game is to rape woman and make them have abortions. It's just a sick game. Comparing games like this and games like grand theft auto is like comparing watching a porno and watching the godfather. Although both involve criminal acts, one is more for sexual pleasure, while the other is more for entertainment. But thats just my input. I can only control my own life.

So due to the fact that my roommate is a complete jackass, I have moved my TV and Xbox 360 into my room. The only problem now is that I don't have internet connection. So I set out on a quest to purchase the all-mighty, overpriced MS wireless adapter. I get to Gamestop, purchase a used one, take it home, plug it in...and the SOB fails to work. I take it back, and they refund my money. I was thinking of possible solutions. Something I'm studying in school is internet over power lines, and so I thought about this option. The problem is the equipment is expensive. Next I thought about setting up an ad-hoc network, like I had once with my girlfriends computer in her dorms(the girls had 4 computers and only 1 Ethernet cable.) I quickly ruled this out, due to the obvious problem that the 360 doesn't have a wireless network adapter(obviously, that was the problem...sometimes I try to find solutions by thinking of other problems...I know, I'm [developmentally delayed]ed)... But then I got an idea. I know it's possible to turn wireless routers into receivers and then transfer the internet through the ethernet ports. Could I turn my laptop into the same thing? (If you can share the internet over wireless, you should be able to share it through the Ethernet port). Turns out I was right. I was able to bridge my connections and send an internet signal to my 360 using my xbox. Thank you for reading my story. If you come along this problem as well, I will gladly assist you.

I would also recommend Linksys, and would recommend against Belkin or D-Link. I had a Belkin router that didn't work at all and 3 D-Link routers that all worked great for half a year and then quit. The Linksys router I currently own produces a strong signal and has been working for over a year now.

Call apple customer support. It's their job to help you fix the problem and they will get it done a lot faster than anyone here will be able to..

Steve Jobs has done a great job at making vista seem like a piece of [cabbage] operating system. Vista is better than XP. Once you get used to the new features, you will agree.

This argument is comparable to playing sports unprofessionally. I played football in highschool all four years. Our team made playoffs every year, and the seasons was probably around 12 weeks including two-a-days. During the season we practiced 2 hours a day after school, excluding friday, where we instead had a game.. So thats 11 weeks of 4 days a week. 44 days, 88 hours of practice during the regular and post season. also, we have 11 games, that required at least 6 hours of our time. 66 hours of game play. We had 1 week where we practiced 5 hours a day, 5 days. Thats 25 hours. 88+66+25=179 hours a year. 4 years is 636 hours spent on football alone(I also wrestled and pole vaulted)....So at your calculations, for playing football in highschool, something I enjoyed, I should receive £3,180...And that doesn't even include weightlifting all year as part of the program. So with your logic, a higschool football player should recieve £3,180 a year. Too bad that robots can do the same work that everyone else does to get their account to this (insane) value...and not to mention gold farmers in china would be willing to do it for mere pennies. A high school player can't make 5 pounds an hour easily. A Chinese gold farmer can't make 5 pounds an hour easily. Neither of them have those jobs available. I do. I can line up more work then I could ever do for 30-40$+ an hour as an independent computer consultant. My time is worth much more to me then a high school athlete's or a Chinese gold farmer. You are some what arrogant. Who the hell mentioned your earnings. He refered to a college footballer. Seriously, we do not care how much you earn. Might seem i am picking on you, but why are you worth more than a chinese gold farmer, or a college footballer? You are the definition of a joke. First off, 5 pounds is about 7.35 an hour. Most high school kids can make that easily at a job. Also you can quit talking about your wage. You're whole argument does nothing but support my argument. You can make $30-40 an hour with your work(which I doubt as all you are is a computer consultant, which requires no degree and most high school kids CAN do)....but we're not here to discuss your bs. Anyway, if you can make $30-40 an hour, then why don't you do something productive with your time and work 8 hours a day instead of playing runescape(not saying you don't)...My post wasn't talking about people who do make good use of your time. My post was talking about the people who spend all day playing MMORPG...

I don't think controls would be an issue at all. Besides logging in, you can play runescape just fine with only a mouse and arrow keys. Change it from point-click to moving with the joystick, make context sensitive buttons, buttons that bring up different interfaces(such as the inventory, stats, etc), camera be controlled by the second joystick(which is how most consoles work today). The xbox 360 has 8 buttons(not including start or back(select)), two joysticks, and a directional pad. This is more than enough to control runescape. Many have said there could be an issue with switching from Java. If Jagex really wanted to, they could change how the game is coded to any programming language they want to. Although it would undermine the meaning of their name (JAva-Gaming-EXperts), it could be done. Runescape has it's own engine...Java is used to make it compatible so players don't have to install a massive library to play the game.
