PvP Artifacts and It's Effect on Runescape Economy
n64jive replied to Dire_Wolf's topic in General Discussion
Apparently I'm a dumb little kid. I don't think your comparison holds any water. The difference between hacks that bring in massive amounts of gold in seconds, and the inflation that is going to be caused by pvp items isn't even closs to comparable. I still stick by my stance of just letting it be, and everything will work itself out. PS your avatar looks like Gannon :) PPS: I really do enjoy 26king. I train for 2 hours on skills, and get to take a break to gain some cash. Sometimes I take longer breaks to legitly pk. -
Does "Attack" and "+Attack" actually make a difference?
n64jive replied to @Dan3HitU's topic in General Discussion
It would be nice to know the formula for how each level effects what you hit. They obviously use a random number generator, and bonus would have to increase your chances somehow. The thing is, the difference between 95-99 is like 5-6m xp, however the changes are probably minimal. But because of the psuedo-randomness of it, reverse engineering is almost impossible. Therefore, we'll just have to have faith that Jagex is factoring it in the formula somehow. -
I hate it when people are speaking a different language, however I don't think anything should be done about it. The reason it bothers me so much is because I always wonder..What are they talking about? :D

it's not full proof. Today a guy was redbarred after a dm and I jumped in to finish him off(call me a pjer, it was just WAY to tempting to pass up). I hit four zeros on his protect prayer, he gets his for a 1 from poison and dies, and I get the drop. Not that I mind, but I don't think I deserve it. PS:I don't usually pj, but it's the direction of the wild(with so many rushers etc) and as I said, it was way to tempting for me to pass up.

theclans cc is the one I'm usually in. I suggest joining a clan('the' would be a good one, most the members are pretty mature). They want you to be very active and such, but to be honest, I just enjoy the atmosphere and don't have time to attend the events.

Three ways to fix this: 1.allow agility course to accessed on bh world. 2.Allow the pipe to accessed by more than 1 person(it sucks waiting) 3.add more pvp worlds

I'd say the p2p triangle is pretty equal. Even though mages max hit is 30, you can easily catch the opponent off guard with it. The truth is you're not going to kill anyone with magic alone. Thankfully, switching to claws and specing an opponent who is more then likely anywhere from 3/4's to half hp, has a very good chance of KOing the opponent. Magic can't hold water on its own, but it has very impressive features tagged along with range or melee(or both)... So the moral of the story: hybrids own the combat triangle :)

so if the ratio of x and y are the same as it was, then what difference does inflation make? Alching becomes more expensive, construction becomes cheaper, 26king becomes less of a money maker. Skills like woodcut and fishing may or may not become more worthwhile. Barrows becomes cheaper to repair...I see lots of pros and cons, but the fact that there is pros makes me say LET IT BE!!!! Geez, everyone needs to quit their bìtching

PvP Artifacts and It's Effect on Runescape Economy

If you did not notice, the inflation rate has already spiraled out of control at an alarming rate. The general cost of items whether for combat or skilling has been shooting up. If you still do not believe me, take a look at the ge database yourself. There are many factors that could cause prices to rise, one specifically being summer with more people playing(for N.A and Europe) And I never said prices wouldn't rise, in fact I predicted they would rise, however the rate they are rising could be the cause of a panic. In other posts about merchant manipulation, people claimed they wanted a real market with real supply and demand. Now you have it! True supply and demand. I for one don't care. Jagex has impletemented a fun way to make money, and I enjoy it. -

First off, because of the mechanics of the game, GP will never be driven to the point of the global depression, specifically germany because they combated the situation by printing more money. I don't feel like reposting the same thing over, so I encourage you to go back and read all my posts(on this topic as well as other, although sometimes I contradict myself as I realize things)... I say let it be. See what happens, but don't think that this will ruin Runescape. For many, it has made it more fun. -
PvP Artifacts and It's Effect on Runescape Economy

Yeah...I can say I contribute to it. This story is just crazy..I agree, too much money can come into the game this way...but w/e, til they fix it, it's fair game. So today, I'm pking, and I get rushed+smited...yep, prayer went to zero and I died and lost my whip. I was pretty upset, but I knew I was close to my target. I gear back up, buy another whip, and go into the wild for a little bit. I get my target who is a guy in full dharoks, and he asks me to fight. I tell him I don't fight dharoks as I don't have vengence. Now this kid was a real whiner. I was getting pretty annoyed when I told him I would dds+75k dm him. He didn't agree at first, but after a small bit of persuading, he decides to agree. We both get 75k, equip a dds, and fill our inventories with sharks. We goto the edge of the wild, he attacks(I was already skulled), and it's a close fight...I had 4 food when he ran out...he drops with about 900k worth of stuff on the ground...but he remains my target  . So I tell him to rematch and i'll let him 26k me if I win again. This time, the fight was shorter as I koed him about 15 seconds in. Another 900k or so on the ground. He tries to pj me while i'm picking up the drop, but I forgive him anyway...letting him 26k me. He gets like a 300k drop, and I ask him if I can 26k him to get rid of my last 1ep, as I kind of OCD over that kind of thing. He agree's and I kill him again for another 350k...I'm like wow..and my ep goes to zero. I'm about ready to log and call it a night when he tells me that I can still get a drop even with zero ep. I was pretty sure this was false, but tried the 26k again. I kill him real quick, he drops and i'm going through the loot. hmm, half apple pizza, glory amulet, siren statuet...whatever, I'm thinking that the item is prob the 20k drop. I go to show him the loot...turns out siren statuet is worth 1m  . He tells me to go again...so we do...I get about 100k in junk. we did this about 4 more times where I was making a profit on every drop except last 2, which I didn't get any loot(not even my coins back)... Now i'm staring at the extra 4m in cash sitting in my bank in disbelief. It used to be if I died while pking, I would quit for the day...go punch some bags, lift some weights, blow off some steam. Now it seems like you can make the money back 26k for about 30 minutes :S... PS: I gained 2 sets of agility brawlers during this escapade, which I was excited about. -

The people earning money a legitimate way have to work much harder for the same pay off. 1.pvp isn't cheating, so it's legit. 2.their own fault? 3. That bucket didn't hold much water... -
could someone explain to me how EP% works?

PvP Artifacts and It's Effect on Runescape Economy

All the money I make from tricking, I am going to turn around and spend on skills. One of my top priorities is construction and summoning, both of which are money sinks. And you need to look at the bigger picture. The only way you could fall victim to inflation is if the majority of your banks wealth is stored in cash, which I'm sure isn't true for most active players. Otherwise, And I find 26king very fun. I look forward to getting off work, going home and training skills for 4x xp with brawlers, gaining and killing targets, and tricking when my ep gets full. Random drops are fun as well. It's like a drop party hosted by Jagex. Also, if Jagex has a plan to introduce something new that takes out a good chunk of cash, then inflation is a good thing, as massive deflation(which happens with most items in general as newer stuff is introduced) can have bad effects... Lastly don't try to predict what is going to happen with the runescape economy. There are things that effect the prices of items that go further than just supply and demand. -
first off, -1^(1/2) is ussually represented as i where you treat -1 as it's own number. Most programs treat -1 as -1*1, which in order of operations, you would do the exponent first. Goto ms calculator and type in -1^.5, it all depends on the programming methods used. But your right, for safety, you should put parentheses around the -1. As for the difference between hosting a torrent website that allows copyright protected information to be redistributed and Jagex not doing something about manipulation of their own currency that they created...well, I'll let you figure that one out on your own, as you seem to have issues seeing the big picture, and instead argue your small point. As for freezing prices and instant buys, I think it could have adverse effects. I feel it would get rid of demand, as the item would always be available. Like I said, who knows. Whatever Jagex implements, I'd bed 10 to 1 odds that it will make more people mad then happy.

I still can't believe this. Virtual currency isn't real currency, therefor not governed by the laws of that country. Why do you not understand that runescape is a game, and these laws govern real life trade. The money in my bank is real, the money in my runescape bank is pixels that is stored in a database somewhere. if gold coins are pixels, then $100 dollar bills are just paper actually, people actually work hard for every single gold coin, whereas in real life they just appear out of thin air from the people that print the money, and then give their fake paper to the averange people and in truth, most money in real life is stored "virtualy" in some database. That means it's not real money? (yes, money that is stored virtualy but doesn't exist in real form such as paper) You'll find out a bit of what I'm talking about here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 7695921912 $100 bills are just paper, however that paper fuels the needs of humans(food, shelter, entertainment(yes, people would go crazy without it)). And most people work hard for the money they earn. And the government hardly prints new money without destroying old. The US for example borrows it from other countries. The reason there is a difference between a sticky note and a $100 is people have faith in their money. The believe it's worth something. And other people have that same belief. Runescape, on the other hand, is a flipping game, which is a concept you seem to find hard to grasp. Yes, it's a grinding game, that some people treat as work, but it is a game, none the less. If you fall into this catagory, then I'm sorry that you chose to let fantasy take over your reality.

PvP Artifacts and It's Effect on Runescape Economy

First, I would like to remind everyone that we are players and might not be able to see Jagex's perspective. Next, Just because pking is supposed to be fun(which it is), doesn't mean that it shouldn't be profitable...Fun and Profitable? Looks like Jagex is up to something! Third, it sounds like most of you havn't even tried 26king. It's not as good of money compared to other money making. After the artifacts, it seems it has increased, but still not insane. The first couple of days(after artifacts) I was making on average about 1.8m per 2.5 hours with probabaly being about 80% efficient, so we'll say 1.8 m per 2 hours. thats 900k an hour(efficiently, less than that at my rate). Then I had a dry spell, making only 500k in 2.5 hours. The next was about 900k in 2.5 hours. Then the next three after that was the 1.8m per 2.5 hours. The only problem I see is anyone with very little skill being able to do this. However, I've heard that at lower levels you expel more EP per kill(can someone confirm this?) I agree that the artifacts bring in GP into the game, but because this isn't a real economy with human needs, rising prices just mean that everything is more expensive(you make more per hour, you spend more on everything else). It only has adverse effects on things with set prices(alch price, etc). Also, if you view it from a construction perspective, due to the set value of converting logs to planks, it actually makes it cheaper. Things like MTK become more profitable as well. So I advise, take the good with the bad, and always remember that it is just a game, no need to blow a gasket. -

all it does it makes the price of everything go up, really not a bad thing in runescape. Other money making methods will become more profitable as the goods earned will be worth more. The current system is ridiculous though. Actual pking will lose you money, while tricking has earned me about 1.5-2.5m per 2-3 hours. I don't do the bolting thing, I ussually use my brawlers, train agility, combat...whatever in the wild. The smart thing to do now is to invest your "hard earned" into items(best bet would probably be dragon bones or green hides)... In the end, we are all subject to Jagex's rules. Whining doesn't get anyone anywhere...might as well just see how Jagex handles it. -
at one time investing in rares was somewhat beneficial. I remember investing in a couple party hats when they were 4-8m each. Went on a 3-6 month break, came back and it was worth over 10x the amount. I recently went on another break(about 1 year), came back and santa's are less than what they were when I left and party hats only went up slightly(and I heard they're hard to sell these days)

this is kind of irrelevant, and it's nice you're trying to provide a service, but why not mine granite? Much better xp.

Looking to efficiently make 2M with my skills
n64jive replied to shadow_sp's topic in Help and Advice
made ~2m in 2-3 hours 26king. No skill required :) -
I was thinking up in a house would be less wasteful then praying melee. just goto pvp worlds, have 4 items(over 75k), protect when you get attacked.
-
nettles or scorpion trick. Pretty much you were able to die at the same time as your opponent and both of you would get the drop.

I honestly think it will fix itself. The leaders of these clans are buying these items for a few days before they release the item to the rest of the clan. If someone else(not a leader, but yet fairly wealthy) was able to stockpile multiple items, and then be aware of when items were being manipulated, they could continuously dump before the leader does, which would cause the leaders to lose out as well. If enough wealthy people who were angry with manipulation were able to do this, it would put fear into the eyes of people leading merchant clans, and help cease their existance. Another thought is this. If merchant clans hurt the lower level members so much, then at some point people will no longer partake as they know that it can have a huge risk. The leaders rely on these peons. No peons = no merchant clans. I think Jagex should give it a while before they do anything about it. As of now, it's not that big of an issue. So you spend a little bit more on an item, again all you have to do is try something else for a few days(which is good for you. Teaches you you can't always do what you want), and then take advantage when the market crashes.
