  1. I still can't believe this. Virtual currency isn't real currency, therefor not governed by the laws of that country. Why do you not understand that runescape is a game, and these laws govern real life trade. The money in my bank is real, the money in my runescape bank is pixels that is stored in a database somewhere.
  2. exactly! Btw, if the -kg = 0kg is true, then I think that should be a DYK for the tip.it times. Seems like it's not common knowledge(I didn't know)
  3. Yes, idiots always have proof and valid arguments to back up their claims, whereas inteligent people insult others without any constructive criticism. Proof and valid arguments?!? There is nothing valid about your argument. You argue that Jagex could be punished by some sort of judicial system if they don't do something about price manipulation. I'm curious, is this the MMORPG Police that handle this? British Government? International Law?...Lol seriously. [hide=This is what you said!!] no http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Price_fixing You just proved his point. No where on that page, or on Jagex's page is their an official statement about Price Manipulation in Runescape. Sorry, but merch clans are doing nothing wrong...as of now Price manipulation IS price fixing. That's like saying America is not USA either way runescape is runescape, and there are no rules against price fixing/manipulating for the game of RUNESCAPE. (People are so thick) Sorry, but that doesn't protect you from the law. Truth is, merchants are criminals, and if jagex supports merchanting, then what jagex does is a crime, and you can complain in court about it. Oh and they don't care about the silly little jagex rules or their game. [/hide] Someone should call the military or NASA, because Jagex also PROVED that teleportation is possible. (and how to do it, obviously) Somebody needs to get off the happy pills and discover the meaning of real and imaginary. (-1^(1/2))

  6. Thats what I was thinking. Seems to be people complaining about how they make better use of their time and people who are lazy should be punished. So it needs to be nerfed because you get money+xp, where as others just get money. People will complain about anything. Tip.It is starting to become RSOF.
  7. I feel I prolly Pvp the way it shoud be. Sure, I gain anywhere from 500k-5m every 2 hours, but I also try to kill my BH target every time. I ussually risk around 1m in items(d boots, obby shield, warrior ring, achievment cape, barrows glove, glory, neitznot, rune plate and legs). Sure I could 26k the whole time, not losing anything, but that's not as fun for me.
  8. I really think price manipulation is over played. The GE makes it easier, but people have been price manipulating since the beginning. Even the great old school merchants price manipulated. If you think Chewy, Duke, R2, and others didn't throw their wealth around, or collaborate with other wealthy individuals to try to corner the market, then you are sadly mistaken. Why didn't the players notice? Because Jagex didn't show the curve of prices on a shiny graph. I remember duke always made his own graphs, which probably attributes to a lot of his success(it does make predicting trends easier, doesn't it?)... Like you said the whole problem is the GE, which Jagex needs to fix. I like your bank wire idea, however, as said, merchanters can still get together and collaborate on buying out the market. Coming out of the shadows or not, Jagex isn't going to ban someone for using their system, and figuring out the advantages. This whole game is about manipulating Jagex's system. Safespots, 26king, and GE manipulation are all one in the same. The big difference is how obvious effect it has on the rs population. 26king is also going to ruin the market(flooding the economy with cash), yet you don't see many people worried about it? Why? Because the only people who lose, are those who don't do it. If I go on a break right now with 100m in my bank, and come back a month later...the 100m I had is going to be worth significantly less if the cash keeps flooding into the market at the rate it is(I brought in 4m today while only playing for 3.5 hours). This is by far the most significant means of creating gold(the worse part is it stacks with alching...I can gain potential alching for 2 hours...brining in cash, go 26k trick, and bring in more cash...if everyone did this, it's going to create a massive gap between the rich and the poor)... Do I think it should be eradicated from the game? No...It's a games economy. Massive gp in the game doesn't pose a real threat. Rapidly fluctuating prices doesn't pose a real threat. It just makes the game more challenging. If people would get out of the "I want this now" mind frame, then people would realize they could take advantage of manipulation clans. When items are manipulated, they always create a sin wave pattern. If you consider the middle the real price of the item(which fluctuates, but almost insignificantly), then by watching the graphs and making smart decisions, you could get things at a cheaper price. Instead, all you hear about is the whiners. If the whiners took my advice, none of them would complain that price manipulation was a bad thing, because it allowed them to get their items cheaper. All in all, I think the topic is over rated. It's a game. Play it. And when other players take advantages of Jagex's system that ruins your gameplay, be creative and try to get the ball in your court. I don't start threads on how I shouldn't be able to be pked while I'm skilling in wild. These people gain nothing out of killing me, yet they are completely hindering my experience...guess what, thats part of the game. Deal with it. Sadly, due to the large attention to this topic, Jagex will more than likely take action. When Jagex intervenes, I'd say its hinders the gameplay for me significantly more than the original "problem". (btw, I have a lil over 5m in the bank, I do not partake in GE manipulation, and I play the game to have fun)...
  9. As long as someone had an offer to sell the bucket for anything less then 50m, it would take priority...(even 20m..) so that wouldn't be full proof....
  10. rofl, i love idiotic flamers. First of all, the reason i have the staff is because it has +7 to slash def! I never said anything about maging in this gear, or even fighting back! And i said that i was just playing around with equipment. And i created the best slash defence. And wanted to get a general idea of what the defence would be! ^This is what I'm looking for. I want to forum a general idea from others opinions. He didn't flame you. You flamed him. Please learn what a flame is, or don't open your mouth. And you flamed him...and wait! Did I just flame you? On Topic: You're asking the blind to tell you the time judging by the position of the sun. Sure, we can all throw random numbers out at you, but there is no way we could give you a percentage. Only way I could think of is if you experimented with the scenario many, many times and found a good number(which still wouldn't be reliable due to the pseudo-randomness of the combat system. PS: 18.3432%
  11. I don't understand why Jagex implemented the GE the way they did. They turned trading into an automated system, which keeps anonymity in trades, yet allows this manipulation to happen. I'm baffled why they didn't set it up as a simple query ran through the data base like so: 1. You goto GE and search for sharks(lets say). It brings up a list of all the current shark sales. It will show current price, current amount(possible using a range to help limit RWT), and any other useful information...all in a big table. 2. You double click on one of the columns and gives you a overview/summary and asks you if you would like to accept. This completes the transaction. Selling would be similiar to the interface they currently use. The only problem would be rendering the table. Updating in real time would cause massive lag, however having a refresh rate could cause instances where you try to buy something that has already be purchased. I'm sure as smart as Jagex is, they would be able to help limit this problem. Maybe there would still be ways to manipulate this system, but I'm sure for every problem there could be a fix. edit: and the post above mine defines irony
  12. This update looks pretty glamorous, but at the end of the day, ur still running around in a circle. I like to spend my time on runescape gaining money, because let's face it: everything I find fun about the game is somehow obtained through wealth.
  13. what are the consequences of not reading the contents of the post before posting? A little conceited wasn't it? FYI, I read the post, I just don't feel that more limitations is the answer I want. My question(which is one that has great discussion value, I feel), addresses a change to the GE that would keep me from feeling treated like a prisoner/child. What if I could offer any price for any item? Why does this introduce an aspect of RWT? With the anonymity of the GE, how would a RWT transaction work if the players didn't feel secure that the GP would go to the right person?
  14. What are the consequences of getting rid of price caps on items through GE?
  15. There is a number of things you could do. if you want xp: You could sell the clean and buy grimey, making around 70gp per ranarr(currently)...+herb xp You could sell all the ranarrs and buy irits(easiest 2nd to obtain) or any herb that you want to have easy/cheap 2nds. or if you just want cash, sell the ranaars. unless you want to collect the snape grass yourself(which is relatively easy), I suggest not making prayer pots(less xp then super anti's and more expensive 2nds)... it all depends...I suggest playing out the scenario's yourself(using tip.it guides and GE)
  16. please read my post on this page. what happened to my (and my friend's) ep occurred in the wee hours this morning. (around 3:30 am EST, date 6/19/09.) I read your post. EP's aren't linked! There is ftp ep and p2p ep. Also, any ep gained before the update, will remain(however I think that anything above 100% doesn't matter either way). So although some people may still have ep above 100%, after they use it(or try to add to it) it will go back down and never go above again. Go to f2p, look at your ep. Then go back to p2p and look at your ep, and then, just for your sake, go back to f2p and look at it again.
  17. I never understood the reasoning behind being a "pure". Back in the day, having low prayer and defense was an advantage, but today that's just not the case. If these people have fun playing the game that way, then so be it. I know the most fun I've had in runescape ussually involves combat(monster hunting, pvp)...sitting at the fishing guild all day can be relaxing, but after so long, it just gets boring. Pvp has an edge that makes it thrilling, and sometimes somewhat stressful.
  18. The EP's aren't linked. 100% ep is the max you can get, except some people had higher because Jagex didn't cap it until the update.
  19. well I just made 1.8m from a single drop, so I havn't had a drop below 800k :)... was another target kill
  20. The higher your ep doesn't mean you'll get a better drop. I was 26king with a buddy, went from 100->5 in 3 or 4 kills, gaining about 1m total. I killed my target after that, going from 4->0, and gained roughly 2m from that kill alone(i've killed targets with 100 ep, gaining only 500k). So there is some sort of system, but it's kind of random/luck based.
  21. In the long term lootshare brings no new money into the game. This does. Why is this such a hard concept to understand? :wall: Ya this does bring new money in, but as Jagex has stated before, sometimes their reasoning for updates is unclear to its players because they cannot see the large scale of things. For all we know, they planned it this way for a giant money sink update comming in the future, or maybe some other reason. Either way, I wouldn't get all uptight about it. I guarentee you Jagex have known about the *problem* since day one, and either planned it being that way, or will change it annouced or un-annouced in the near future. Ya, hundreds of millions are comming in each day, but that is a very small percent compared to the hundreds of BILLIONS already in a game. Inflation isnt something that happens overnight, so nothing to be to worried about. Not but with a small scale economy, it can happen in a week. I have no problem with rapid inflation. It's a video game, therefor its not a severe issue.(Took me a while to realize this.
  22. trade limit should be based on skill total or days since creation date. I've been playing since 2002, and the amount of players like me are limited(not saying there isn't any). It would be easier for Jagex to monitor RWT if say for every 3 months since creation date, your trade limit increases by a set number. There could be other limitations as well. I think the reason they probably don't do this is it gives people who been playing longer an advantage. Really, who cares though. The longer you play, the more loyalty you have shown. Its the same concept of as you get older, the more responsibilites you get.
  23. Aren't you supposed to be banned :-) But yet, from what I heard this update is bringing billions of extra money in the game. Sometimes I feel like they never think about the consequences of updates. And N64, I wouldn't be too sure of that actually (that they keep track of the amount of gp). They might not, but it couldn't be that hard to implement. I'm sure each account name is kept in a database. It would make sense to store everyones bank information(specifically GP in this instance) in another table in the database and link it all together. A simple SQL script could sum the total amount of GP in banks. The only problem is this would fluctuate daily depending on what was bought/sold. But Networth wouldn't be that hard to implement as well. EDIT:Just thought it out, every item bought through player to player interaction just exchanges hands, therefor the money wouldn't be destroyed. So again, this should be easy to implement.
  24. Yes you can get them without a target. I'm not sure whether I like the update or not, It's made me a boatload of money but I'm afraid that so is everyone else and the the economy is being flooded with 100's of billions of coins. Correct! Just stay ahead of the game, Jagex will realize the issue(I'm sure they have systems that keep track of the amount of GP in the game, and i'm sure it's [bleep]ing after this update...
