Wii Launch Date
That would be pretty fun, but I don't want to have to sit out there for 10 hours.

Which skin do you use?
You can change the background color and font color, that wouldn't be a bad idea. When ever I read Ebooks that are word files I always do that. Change the background to black, the font to light grey, and the size to 16. I think that is the easiest to read.

Wii Launch Date
Yeah, that is what the Nintendo of America guy said. Nintendo of Europe guy says that it isn't true. It doesn't seem like something that should be too hard to figure out, but for some reason it hasn't been confirmed one way or another yet.

Wii Launch Date
Would you have to camp out in front of WalMart? They are all open 24 hours a day, at least around here. You would have to camp in front of the Wii display in the enertainment section :D . Come to think of it, thats not a bad idea... Does anyone have any experience with getting a console on the first day it comes out? Will WalMart put it on sale at 12:01? Would I look stupid waiting in front of Best Buy, or will other people be doing the same? One thing I did just find out is that Nintendo of Europe says that the Wii will be region locked. Nintendo of America said it wouldn't be, NoE said that NoA was wrong. Like I said before it doesn't really affect me, but it would be nice to get a confirmed yes or no. That may be difficult seeing as how the two people who confirm the yes or no say different things :D

What is your favorite book?
I added my favourite science fiction novels. Topic starter never specified what genre he prefers, so the suggestion part may not work out all that well. This is more a topic for favourite books anyways.

As a digger I have to disagree completly with anything slashdot says. It's part of the agreement you agree to when you sign up. /Obviously joking //diggers don't hate slashdot at all ///Still not seeing the point of region restrictions on media of any kind though. The really, really important information that I need now is where can I get one the day it comes out? I don't think Best Buy stays open til midnight, so am I expected to wait 10 hours before I get it? That is ten hours I could be spending playing Zelda. Do you think Wal-Mart would put them out at midnight? I might try that, because that would be awesome. What is the deal with pre-ordering? I heard that people who pre-ordered the 360 had to wait longer sometimes. It doesn't make sense to me, I guess I don't understand how pre-orders work.

Don't pay attention, I'm just being stupid.
There are three reasons why everyone's IQ seems high here: 1. It is easy to lie. 2. Taking internet tests which probably give you better results because you will choose the one that gave you the highest results and tell it to other people. 3. I actually can't think of a third, oh well. For evidence of my first point take the topic starter. He said he "maxed out" or something similar, and IQ tests don't have a maximum. I actually just pulled that fact out my arse, but I think its true.

OMGPONIES *snicker* SubBlack here, so don't go posting white spoilers or forget to turn the edges on your images transparent if you have the rest of the bg transparent or it looks like crud to me ! :P Yeah, SubBlack for me also. It is funny seeing sigs and avatars that are just a few lines that dont look like anything because they dont show on the black backround :D . The white spoiler text always gives me a laugh also :D . I haven't even heard of half the themes listed so far, I don't think I've ever changed mine since I first logged in and chose SubBlack.

new planet!!!
Kind of unrelated but oh well, it's funny :D . /Fark cliche, may not make sense now that I look at it unless you see it a lot.

What is your favorite book?
I didn't give you enough time to reply with what genre you would prefer, but I really just felt like posting anyways :P . All these links are to the Internet Book List which is supposed to be like an imdb for books. I just found it, and have no idea how good it is. It didn't list any non-fiction books for my first author, so we shall see. Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged - This is my favourite book. The people who read it either love it, hate it, or love/hate it. The love it or hate it because of the morals and political views that it is preaching. The people who love/hate it like the views but find the book to be very repetitive and boring. Definently a must read for everyone. It is kind of lengthy and can take some people a while to read. The first time I read it took eight days. The second time took four days. That is longer than all of the other books I read. For simplicity's sake (second time I said that today :D ) I will just link to Ayn Rand. Like I said above, no links for her non-fiction. It does link to the Ayn Rand Institute and you can get them off of there. From now on I will do it by author, since almost every author has more than one book I enjoy. Kurt Vonnegut - He is an awesome author. Best described as a satirical humoured science fiction author. Although most of the time I don't agree with the "moral" of the story because of his political or philisophical views, it doesn't affect my judgment of his books. I still love them. Cat's Cradle and Slaughterhouse-Five are probably his two most famous books. Both are excellent. Player Piano is his first novel, and is pretty good. This is probably his most political one also. Mother Night is about an American in Nazi Germany during WWII. This one is one of the less popular ones, but according to this website it is rated pretty well by the few who rated it. Slapstick I thought was one of the best ones, but apperantly not to many agree. Including Kurt Vonnegut himself. While reading one of his non-fiction psuedo auto-biographies he rated the books he had written so far. He is not a modest man, gave him self A+'s for a few. However he gave himself a D- for Slapstick. Oh well, I enjoyed it. I've typed a lot so far, and it has taken a while. I don't want to lose it, and I don't feel like doing anymore right now, so I will just edit it in later. EDIT 1: OK, it took a little longer for me to update it than I originally thought. Here are a few more, probably have to do a few more edits. This edit will be mostly Science Fiction authors. Orson Scott Card - As already mentioned (a few times) his novel Ender's Game is awesome. The whole series following it is also awesome. The parrallel to it is Ender's Shadow, which is equally as awesome. I actually read Ender's Shadow first, and I really had no idea what to expect. I can't even remember why I chose to read it, but I am glad I did. Most people read Ender's Game first, and I think most people like it more. I think if you read it first you probably will. Since i did it backwards I like them equally. Both are spectacular. As for the sequels to the books I enjoyed the ones following Ender's Game a lot more. When reading those books I wanted Science Fiction. When you read the Shadow storyline it is more about politics. I love political books, but for some reason these just didn't seem as good. I haven't read any other Orson Scott Card, so I can't comment on it. Arthur C. Clarke - All I really need to say is 2001: A Space Odyssey. This is in my opinion the absolute best Science Fiction novel, and also it is my favourite. You could argue it is not the best, but not to me because I will simply ignore anything not saying this is the best. :D . It was actually the screenplay first, written by Clarke and Stanley Kubrick, and then Clarke made a novel out of it. If you plan on seeing the movie I actually suggest reading the novel first, makes certain parts less confusing. There are actually three sequals, which are pretty good. For some reason I read them expecting them to be pretty lame compared to the first one, but they are decent. Clarke didn't just write those books though, he has some other good ones. Rendezvous with Rama is really good too, and actually according to iblist it is rated better than 2001. I thought it was pretty good, and apperantly there is also a series continuing after it too. I might try and pick those up sometime, definently would continue reading it. H. G. Wells - Like Clarke, can be best described by naming his best book: War of the Worlds. For a Science Fiction novel wrote in 1898 this is better than awesome. Well, I can't really think of much to say except its great, even though it is kind of slow. All of Wells other novels are great too. These are probably the first science fiction novels I ever read, and after re-reading them all last summer I am suprised I liked them so much as a kid. They aren't too difficult to read, but more-so than most books. They all are a little slow like War of the Worlds, so it astonishes me that I liked them so much. Now they all seem really good, just not the style for everyone. Ray Bradbury - You all know about Fahrenheit 451, right? Well, it is required reading in high school around here, not sure about other places. It is a great book, the only one Bradbury is really known for. It is a Dystopia/Utopia genre of book according to iblist, which is under the Science Fiction genre. I guess it does have some sci-fi in it, I find it to be more of just a political book though. Definently a must read for everyone. The only other Bradbury I have read was The Martian Chronicles, which is really science fictiony, for lack of a better explanation. It was pretty good too, but I probably wouldn't list it in a top 20 list. Just thought I would mention it here to point out that Bradbury does have other books. Apperantly a lot of them... George Orwell - I said I was just doing sci-fi, but apperantly the dystopian books are considered sci-fi, so I guess I will do it now. Nineteen Eighty-Four and Animal Farm. I'm not going to write anything about these since you can find other reviews in this topic and if it continues for a while you will most likely see more. Quick review: Awesome, and both are a must read. Brave New World - This is a book, obviously not an author :P . This is the only book by the author, Aldous Huxley, that I have read. This is another dystopian society political book, with some sci-fi elements to it. Written in 1931 so it was right at the beginning of the Great Depression. Since that was blamed on the capitalist economic system (no comment on that so I don't go off topic) it was a perfect time to write a book about the "tyranny" of capitalism. I can't say I didn't like that it was anti-capitalist because I just now found out. I didn't think it had anything to do with it at all, it seemed like it was all about class struggles, or more correctly the lack of them even though there were classes. I will read it again soon and see how much of the point of the book I actually missed. Alas, Babylon - This time I had to post the book, seeing as how Pat Frank only has one book. Anyways, this book is great. Like a lot of the ones above it was required reading in highschool. Unlike the other ones above, I did not actually read this one until it was assigned. All the other ones I had already read once when they were assigned. After school on the first day that I was assigned it I started, and finished it. One reading session. I couldn't put the book down. I'm sure you've heard that phrase before, but it was literal this time. I sat down and read the entire book before getting back up. I have mentioned it before in the movie threads that the post-apocalyptic scenerio was one of my favourites. This book is probably the biggest reason for it. Well, that is all for tonight. I don't include fantasy fiction under sci-fi even though it normally is included there. I'll do fantasy fiction next, which will pretty much cover most of my favourites. Last will probably be just general fiction.

Wii Launch Date
Movies/Video Games have region features on them to make more money by screwing the consumer. I just said that, I don't know if its true or not. It is the common consensus by the digg community though :D . Like I said above it has never really affected me with video games. Recently with DVDs it has though, had to pay about 50% more to get season 2 of Battlestar Galactica. If I had a region free DVD player, I could have bought and watched the UK version (region 2) which is season 2 in one box set. Instead, I had to buy the US version (region 1) of season 2 which is split in two box sets.

Pretty sure they said they're region free :P Heh, first thing I saw on digg was and I quote "Wii will be region free!"

Dumbest/most pointless movie you have seen?
I thought Life Aquatic was pretty good :? . I'll agree it is not "action packed" so some people may find it boring. It definently makes up for it with a decent story, good acting and good dialogue. It has the same sort of humour that Wes Anderson's other movies have. Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, and the Royal Tenembaums would probably all be considered a little slow, just because there isn't action every second of the movie. If you like that, maybe try a Michael Bay movie.

Does anyone know if the consoles/discs will be region free or not? It doesn't really affect me all that much, really not at all, but it would be nice if they were. I'll go check the websites out and edit it back in here if I find anything.

Horoscopes
I don't believe in luck or fate, so I find horoscopes to be pretty useless. But if you believe in it, more power to you :D .

What movie(s) did you last see?
I actually watched these first two movies almost two weeks ago, I just haven't posted in a while. Alfred Packer: The Musical - I think I have reviewed this one before. I may have even reviewed it a few times. I'll just say that I love everything Matt Stone has put his hands on. I think he is a genious. That is highly debatable, so I will put on the disclaimer that it is only my opinion. Mallrats - A Kevin Smith movie, so it is automatically pretty funny (we will ignore Jersey Girl for the sake of simplicity). I like the humour, and I like the actors. None of them are brilliant actors, I just like them. A lot of people hate Ben Affleck for some reason, but I've always liked him as an actor. Then again, I also like Tom Cruise as an actor so my tastes are a little different :P . These next two I watched yesterday. That was I think ten days without watching a movie. Been too busy. Appurusḫ̨̉̉do - Appleseed for all those non Japanese speaking people out there (like me :D ). I was reading a story on Fark the other day about the "Top Ten Animated Movies." This list absolutely sucked, all the movies on it were pretty average. On the comment thread was where I found out about a lot of animated movies. Apperantly this one is on a lot of peoples' lists. I didn't really think it was anything special. I don't watch much (read: none) anime so this was kind of something new. It turned out to be pretty generic though, and the things I find stupid about anime were in it. It wasn't completly anime though, there was a good amount of CGI in it. If I give them one thing it would be that it looked nice a lot of the time. The Nightmare Before Christmas - Written by Tim Burton, not one of the ones he has directed. It is all animated, so that is probably why. This was another one that was listed a lot in that Fark comment thread. I understand this one there though, it was awesome. It was very, very odd, and definently had a Tim Burton feel to it. That is a good thing of course. I really enjoyed this movie, a good Christmas time movie.

Grammar - Your forum appearance
well daan is foreign, so it is ok. :P i would just like to point out that i dont capitalize because i am kind of lazy. however if i spell something wrong, most of the time it should be close to right, and should be easily understood. grammar i am hopelessly lost at, but i think i make sense most of the time. I may try to start writing with capital letters. It does look a little better, but I don't think it's any more difficult to read what I wrote above. I don't think people should skip by posts because of the way they look, but since it seems the consensus here is that they do, I will write better from now on. Obviously by that I mean I will write better for most likely only tonight, and will forget tommorrow.

Salem Witch Trials
hmm, that actually sounds like a pretty good idea for a teacher. wish more teachers were creative in the way they teach.

School and Video Games
something kind of related but not: at my local community college we dont have books in our library. yes, we have a library, just no books in it. instead there are about 40 computers, with access to every book you would ever need for doing school work. there isnt all that much fiction, but some. and it also has access to many, many newspapers and magazines. i guess this has nothing to do with video games, but it does have to do with technology in the classroom.

Your Favorite Directors, why?
i thought donnie darko was pretty enertaining, thats why its my #1 movie, so i definently disagree with you there. maybe not to many directors would help their actors through drug problems, but im sure most would help their best friend through drug problems. jason mewes and kevin smith were best friends before clerks.

Steve Irwin Fans Get Revenge.
i would like to see it also, but his family and friends requested it to not be shown.
