I thought I made a topic about Dr. Horrible back in July when it came out, but apparently I only mentioned it in the last movie and last ordered topics (=77&sc=1&sf=all&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search]search results). But yeah, I love Dr. Horrible. Most musicals can be enjoyable, but I don't know where exactly the line is drawn between musical and a movie with original songs in it performed by the characters. For example pretty much every Disney movie could be considered a musical since they have a few songs in them. So depending on how you classify I've seen only a few or quite a few musicals.
  2. The current season of 24 would have been good if every 6 episodes they didn't basically go "but wait, there's more!" I remember the other seasons kind of doing that but it seemed extreme this season.
  3. Oh hell yes 24. That really needs to end. I didn't really think it was all that great after season 1, there were parts of some seasons that were ok but most wasn't.
  4. There are a lot of shows I would like to see put down, whether from not really liking it anymore or wanting the series to end before it gets stale. But off the top of my head I have to mention Dollhouse. It's not great, I enjoy it but not as much as I would if it were done right. I am as mad at Joss for trusting FOX again as I am at FOX for screwing around with the show. It's definitely picked up since the beginning but nowhere near Firefly standards. I was hooked on Firefly immediately, Dollhouse not so much. It's possible it will pick up, I didn't really care for the first 3 seasons of Buffy but I really liked the rest of it, and all of Angel (but since that's in the Buffyverse I was already hooked before watching any of it).
  5. Such a statement definetely requires citing a source. But I'll call nonsense beforehand. The source was a science fiction novel/movie/tv show of some kind. I remember hearing it too but not in a realistic discussion of whether time travel was possible or not. I'm reading Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time right now and in the introduction he mentioned talking about time travel later in the book. I've always dismissed time travel as being impossible (unless you want to count relativistic effects) but if Stephen Hawking says maybe, then I might say maybe also.
  6. Yeah the PDF has been posted multiple times. Also we had the wall discussion quite a while ago, probably under page 20 or so. The most efficient use of resources would be to build the wall straight up. Your wall is not really an option practically in a post-apocalyptic setting with already scarce resources and the complications of building a wall designed to fall over.
  7. I've downloaded hundreds of gigabytes from torrents I got off of TPB, never got a virus. Most of the torrents I've got elsewhere use TPB trackers anyways, so they probably originated there. So that's close to 2.5 terabytes over thousands of torrents, no virus ever. Just don't be stupid and you won't get a virus from there.
  8. One that has a god or gods that doesn't mind humans being happy, and lets everyone go to a good afterlife. Because not existing anymore when you die kind of sucks, I'd like to live forever one way or another.
  9. Well, I would argue that the south actually have the funny accents, because the first Americans landed in Plymouth, which is in the north. The first Americans were here long before Europeans "discovered" this continent.
  10. Time is the 4th dimension of spacetime, not space.
  11. Time travel always pisses me off in movies/TV because they always seem to create paradoxes.
  12. This problem wouldn't exist if we used a base 12 number system. Really we should, it would make things so much easier.
  13. Yep, slowly went downhill the entire time. Eagle vs Shark - Well this was interesting. Kind of makes me want to move to New Zealand.
  14. TPB isn't going anywhere, even if these four do go to jail.
  15. To expand on the eye thing the longer a body has been a zombie the worse vision it will have. Blinking serves the purpose of keeping our eyes moist and clear of dust, so when they don't blink their eyes get destroyed. It also means their eyes will look weird after a while.
  16. It was New Hampshire a few weeks ago. It was Indiana a few days ago. Nothing comes of it, it's just news vendors sensationalizing to sell more/get more ad revenue.
  17. Saw the first two episodes, it's not all that great. The chick in it is hot though so I will probably continue watching.
  18. As an objectivist (or maybe I am a nihilist, haven't decided yet) I believe that any action between two consenting adults is ok. So incest and polygamy are ok, and necrophilia if consent is given while the person is still alive. Pedophilia involves person not considered adults, and so even with their consent it shouldn't be legal. The definition of adult will need to be lowered though to 15 or 16. Bestiality involves property, and you can do whatever you wish (that doesn't infringe on any other person's rights) with your own property.
  19. /b/ has been here before. They ignore OT, so I never saw them or really cared.
  20. If you want to watch something like that you might as well go all out and watch Salo. Makes Cannibal Holocaust look like Toy Story.
  21. Woahhh someone else knows of random Swedish Vampire Horror Romances besides me?? Yeah if she hates movies with creepy children and lots of blood, i wouldn't go for Let the Right One In..but horror movies are generally a good pick as long as you're ok with em Everyone knows about Let the Right One In. I second Carlo's suggestion, Stardust would be great for a first date. Enchanted wouldn't be bad either, if you don't like that sort of movie at least you get to look at Amy Adams for an hour and a half. Of course you could always go for a classic: The Princess Bride.
  22. "Six Feet Under" - This is a really great series, but for some reason the only things I want to say about it are complaints. So I'll just sum them up: pretentious, self righteous and preachy. The characters are severely narcissistic, and they will describe themselves as such sometimes but never strongly enough. By the end of the series some of the characters were almost unbearably annoying. It really is a good show though. The Day the Earth Stood Still - I enjoyed it, but I like these sort of movies. Whereas the first movie was preachy about anti-war this one is more about environmentalism. This movie got a bad rap, I think mostly because there are a few things people really don't like and most people don't like at least one of them. A lot of people don't like Keanu Reeves, and while he isn't great in some parts he played Klaatu just fine. It really does get to be really sci-fi with weird orbs and von Neumann nanoreplicators, and some people won't like that. And there are a portion of the people who do like sci-fi who don't like remakes of their classics. So there is a significantly small group of people who don't mind any of those things. I am one of them, and that's why I enjoyed it.
  23. I think that meme was from the South Park episode where the gnomes that stole underwear explained why they do it. Do you guys not even bother reading the topic? Someone already explained it was South Park and I expanded on it and explained where it came from, showing this exact picture.
  24. I'm pretty sure the Duckroll is just a variant of the Rickroll, but I'm not entirely sure on that. Duckroll was around before youtube like websites were around.
