I have no problems buying or selling the things I normally trade at the same, or nearly the same, prices as before the update. Though, the things I normally trade in aren't directly related to the PK update, so the chaos probably hasn't hit my corner of the market. Still, it's only been like 3 days since the update. Chill out and give things time to settle down. EVERYONE's going crazy right now figuring out how to adapt to the new system (or re-adapt for the pre-GE veterans) and it's going to take a few weeks for prices to stabilize as buyers and sellers find a reasonable compromise.

Yes. When you give 2 tons of metal, plastic and rubber the ability to move at speeds over 50 mph, it inherently becomes potentially unsafe. It's the skill, experience and maturity of the operator that draws the line between potentiality and actuality. The same is true for information handling. It doesn't matter what the information is, or the system being used, if the user - i.e., the government - can't be trusted to handle simple information like an email list, how can they be trusted to handle something like an all-encompassing personal ID database? The government has proven time and again, at all levels, that their employees generally aren't capable of handling or keeping sensitive information secure. I'm not alone in thinking they really shouldn't be trusted to manage our online IDs.

Sorry for the double-post, but this is why a government run online ID is a bad, bad idea. If you thought the Facebook information leak was bad, this would be far worse.

That was annoying... That's one of the reasons I didn't do a lot of player trading back then. I either made my own, or bought from stores. I always sold to stores though - I know I could have gotten more from other players, but I was willing to sacrifice that for the convenience. I like that idea, personally. Having a middle range as a suggested price, as opposed to just a single number, would be far more useful. For example, I make throwing knives for smithing EXP and when I sell the knives, I tend to just use the floor limit and they sell almost instantly (

I thought he was trying to be witty, trailure, like failure, sounds identical to trailer, used because the video pretty much completely fails at accurately representing RuneScape. It's more epic then the last trailer, but that one actually represented the game. But nope, just spelling fail I guess. Same here, like Rooster Teeth's "Failures of the Weak" series. Alas, the rampant illeteracy of the world fails me again... Still, I do like trailure as a description of the preview video. I see people who start playing because of that video being so disappointed that they quit and tell their friends not to play that fake game. Jagex, bait and switch is never good unless the switch turns out to be better than the bait.

This seems most useful to soloers like myself, but like was stated above, would slow down a group too much. I can't get the dg guide up on this computer, but can't members make altars in the construction hotspot in the home base room? EDIT: Home now on my much faster computer and connection, and yup, members can make their own Altar. Whether the cost of 5 Bovistrangler branches and 5 Zeph bars is worth the extra exp is up to you and the kinds of bones you get, I suppose, assuming you have the construction skill to make it.

My girlfriend can outlast her dope-head friends when she's sober, and on the rare occassion she does a little, she can go longer. Unassisted, her longest that I know of was 4 straight days (we usually stop counting hours after Day 3). With a little pick-me-up, she went nearly a week. She usually crashes for about a solid day afterwards, though. I wouldn't say she was comatose, as she does respond to me when I kiss and hug her, but she does sleep hard and deep, and it's very difficult to rouse her. Myself, I can barely go 48 hours without at least a nap, and I've never done drugs so I can't say how long I'd last with them but I don't intend to find out. I just pulled an all-nighter last night (saturday) when I got called into work for a graveyard shift when I expected to have the night off. Was up at 9am saturday morning, and didn't get to bed til about 9am sunday morning. Wouldn't have been so bad, except the graveyard shift at my job is very mentally taxing, and the computers were giving me problems all night so it made the sleep deprivation seem worse than it was. -
That's the way I see it. As it is, if my RS account ever gets hacked, they get my pixels and nothing else. If my Paypal gets hacked, they get... well, nothing since atm, I don't have any money in Paypal and it's not linked to any bank accounts. If my Amazon account gets hacked, I can call my credit card company and deny the purchases and get my money back. All three of those accounts are separate from each other, so if one of those scenarios ever happened, the damage would be minimal and fixable. With the new ID system, as I understand it (and I'll be the first to admit there's a good chance I don't), all three would be linked through the same ID and could possibly be hacked simultaneously if someone got my ID, so I wouldn't just be out one thing, I'd lose my time investment in RS and the hacker could bleed my credit card through both Paypal AND Amazon, not to mention the other dozens of sites that would be linked to my ID. Plus, there are things I do on the Net that I don't want known. Whether it's looking at pr0n, torrenting music or looking for a gift for my girlfriend, there are some things I want to keep hidden from others, and I go to great lengths to do it - secret email accounts, alternate logins, etc. Anonymity is the Internet's biggest draw, and having some kind of universal ID that can be used and seen by anyone kind of destroys that.

My girlfriend totally buys into this BS, but I think it's a bunch of quasi-religious mumbo-jumbo. I think a person's sign has nothing to do with their personality; there are some correlations between certain personality types and birthdays, but I have a feeling that it has more to do with the general weather conditions (people conceived or born during colder months do seem to act different than those conceived or born in warmer months with some kind of consistency) when a fetus is conceived or born than some (apparently) arbitrary symbolism based on pin[puncture]s of light in the sky that are several thousand years out of date. Think about it, the light that reaches us from those stars takes thousands of years to reach us, so by the time we see it, those same stars could have gone nova, burnt out, been consumed by aliens, whatever. We won't know for another few thousand years, really. So, to say that something that old has any kind of effect on our lives or destinies is baloney. Or, bologna if you want to be technical... It's like the equivalent of using a Farmer's Almanac from 1711 to predict tomorrow's weather, or using old WWII newsreels to learn about the current political climate of Europe. It's not scientifically sound. If some alien on another world orbiting one of those stars thousands of light years away were to look at our humble sun and somehow see Earth, they'd probably see either dinosaurs or large sheets of ice, not the cities, pollution and satellites we have now, unless they had some way of correcting the time dilation. So anyway, my point is, as a form of entertainment, the zodiac is kinda fun, but as a serious field of study, nah. Did everyone's personalities suddenly change to coincide with the new zodiacs? I don't think so... I'm still the same person, even though my sign is different. The people I see frequently still seem to be the same, though their signs are probably different now too.

That's why Slayer sucks - I shouldn't have to have a BS in math or practically make a spreadsheet just to train a freaking skill. I'm a fairly smart person (supposed evidence in this thread notwithstanding), but the way Slayer works is not only confusing but convoluted and unnecessarily complicated IMO.

I thought Vannaka was supposed to be faster? Really? 64 Werewolves is faster than several assignments of goblins, banshees and crawling hands? I don't think so... It's a good thing I need the charms from the werewolves for summoning anyway.

That's really got nothing to do with this. This nested menu update is everywhere, not just when you die. And it truly is the worst interface they've ever implemented. There's no excuse for poor design. At all. How about that one, no fake. It's bad :( Oh, my bad. Yea, that looks bad. I haven't been anywhere where the nested menus have come into play since they were released and thus didn't realize the scope of the suckage they represent. I thought it was a rant that they just made it take a little longer to recover items from gravestones... Now I see that it's a rant that the nested menus just simply phail. In that respect, yea, I agree.

Welcome back! Glad to hear things worked out and hopefully your trials will serve as a warning to others to keep that info on hand, just in case. Though I wonder what Jagex would do if someone hasn't changed their password 3 times?

Not strong nor relevant enough to disprove his very valid point +1. I had been playing RS for well over a year before I found Tip.It and it took another year or two before I joined the Tip.It community, so there really isn't much of a correlation. As for the original post, welcome to the Internet. The annoying people are everywhere.

If you're finding the sheer numbers of your goal to be intimidating, you should consider using smaller steps to get to your goal. 19k mith ores is a hell of a lot, I agree, but instead of getting to 70 in one massive push, you could try giving yourself smaller sub-tasks that are easier to handle. I feel your pain, as a fellow smither with a lofty goal (am currently going for 85 smith and I started at 70-something with Addy...I'm now at 81 for the record). The easiest way I found to get there was to take it a little bit at a time. Instead of getting all the 10+k ores and tons of coal to grind it out, I attacked it with smaller objectives like finishing a set of 100 bars, selling the product and reinvesting the returns into more coal/ores for the next 100 bars. It's not significantly slower than grinding out thousands of bars at once, and it will save you a bit of money since you're investing smaller amounts of capital per step. You could try that for a while and see if it works for you. It won't make things cheaper in the long run, but it could make getting to 70 a little easier to deal with.

I'd say Coal Trucks, personally. There's usually less competition per rock, and if you have 20 Agility, you can use the log shortcut between the mine and Seer's Village and cut out a significant portion of the travel time. Plus, you can load the trucks with over 4 and a quarter loads of coal normally (totaling 5 and a quarter if you take a full inventory with you back to Seer's Village), but you can increase that amount up to 200 with the Seers Headband if you complete the Elite Seer's Tasks. Emptying the Trucks in the Village takes about as long as it does to run to the Mining Guild from the east Falador bank, but loading the trucks themselves takes significantly less time, not including the time to mine the actual coal. I've extensively done both methods personally (before I started buying it on the GE), and when I need to mine my own coal, I usually go to the Trucks. If you can get a decent mining pattern down on 4-5 rocks, the time goes by real quick and you'll have filled a Truck before you know it.

My pranksense is tingling for those exact reasons. If it weren't December, I'd suspect a poorly-conceived April Fool's joke in the making - unless this is preparation for April 2011... Either way, something doesn't feel right about this whole thing and I'm not voting. I want to see what the other shoe looks like when it drops. I get the feeling more player riots are in our future... -

Wait, what? Dammit, I gotta go see Diango...brb. Also, the seal-sliding is crap with lag... -
I remember the days when dying meant automatically losing all but your best 3 items... which makes my point: be happy you at least have a CHANCE of getting your stuff back now.

Wait, that's an option? Oh sweet, Wild Pie here I come!

I'm trying to finish the second part of Rag and Bone Man, and the last special bone I need is the Basilisk. Which I need lvl 40 Slayer to kill... and I'm only lvl 36 at this time. I've been going to Turael in Burthorpe for my Slayer assignments because he gives short, easy tasks. I'm lvl 97 with 70 att, 81 str and 71 def and using melee, so blowing through 45 Goblins or 37 Crawling Hands is a breeze. Why, you may ask (and Turael does!) don't I go talk to higher level Masters to get better exp tasks? Because I hate training Slayer, it's boring, tedious and I'd rather not add difficult to that list. Sure, I COULD go slay dragons and demons to get better XP rates, at the cost of food, pots and frustration I don't want to expend. If something is going to be boring and tedious, I'd at least have it be easy. I'm lazy like that. I say all that to say this, I really REALLY wish Turael would stop asking if I want to talk to a higher level Slayer Master. If I wanted to, I would. I'm not stupid, just lazy, and if I want to risk life, limb and monk fish battling dragons and demons, I'd do it. But the honest truth is, I don't want to, so stop freaking asking, Turael! I really wish there was some way to turn off that damned question (like the danger warnings), but I doubt there is. *sigh* Guess I gotta keep clicking "No" for the foreseeable future...

All I can say to the new bank update is: "About freaking time!" I've been wanting something like that for a long, long time. Nice to see that I didn't have to suggest it lol!

That attitude is exactly what's wrong with the RS community in general these days. Everyone is so busy looking out for themselves that any sense of teamwork or camaraderie is lost, and that's why DG teams generally suck. Back in the days of RSC, it was common practice for higher lvl players to stop and lend a hand to struggling newbies. It was called being courteous and made for a more pleasant community and playing experience on the whole. I miss those days, tbh. Now, ppl play so cut-throat that it's a wonder newbies stick around for more than a month or two before moving on to more newb-friendly games. The eventual death of RS will stem from this prevalent "Me first!" attitude, I guarantee it. I'll get off my soapbox and get to the reason I came to this thread: The "Did you know..." is completely useless if you're looking to actually do anything on Lunar Isle. I just tried it, and yes, I got to the island, but as soon as I tried to interact with any of the residents, I got kicked back to Rellekka. So it's best to just bring your Seal; there's really nothing worth doing on the island that you don't need the local bank for, and trying to use the bank without a Seal is rather pointless and inefficient.

I don't even use QuickChat, but my typing speed is so fast that using QC actually takes longer for me to say something than just spelling it out normally. And yes, I do mean "spell it out," as I don't use chatspeak if I can at all avoid it.

You actually expected a quest reward to live up to the hype? I've been disappointed by quest rewards - especially "uber weapons" - that I don't even bother using them outside the quest (or any required post-quest activity) anymore. In fact, the only reason I do quests anymore is to unlock areas, exp rewards or to unlock another quest; the item rewards are just rubbish most of the time.
