  1. Does it count if they're on your Friends list?
  2. Because you certainly didn't when making this thread. Runescape is a stat-based game where you grind individual stats to mold the character of your choosing, and you get better at doing things by doing them, a lot. What do you want, Runescape to be like Free Realms where leveling your certain skills requires you to partake in mini-games, like woodcutting would be you gain exp based on how close to the green meter you get the the swinging axe? Skill in Runescape is figuring how to do things more efficiently, not acting like a 10 year old with ADD and a twitchy trigger finger shooting enemies. The issue is that you're equating the slower paced portions of Runescape, the non-combat skills, to tactical fps' and arcade fps' (Cod and Halo respectively). You're comparing apples and Boeing 747's, they are 100% different games with completely different goals, methods, mechanics, and ideas. No, Runescape isn't as fast paced, tactical, or flashy as Call of Duty, but it's not trying to be, and that's where the massive difference comes in. You're comparing chess to a game of GOT YOUR NOSE, complaining that chess doesn't give you the flashy ADD-driven gameplay you long for. And I'm sure the reaction half the people had here was along the lines of "what are you, stupid?" You're asking an obvious question, to make obvious conclusions, to make a stupid point. Ok, so Runescape is a "second job" to you, virtually all MMOs have a huge element of grind to them, it's how companies rope people into paying a monthly fee, they give them countless hours of grind. And you know what? People like it. You might not, but you're not the demographic that companies are shooting for, and none of us who enjoy grind-games care that you think of it as a second job. You say "wake up and see it" as if we're all in denial that Runescape is a massive grind. If you can find me one person who truly believes that Runescape is NOT a massive grind, go ahead and show them to me. Until then, all you're doing is stating the obvious to make some invalid argument. I'll show how your argument can sum up another genre: You sit there every day for two hours playing Call of Duty. And what do you do the entire time? You lay prone, you take cover, you shoot imaginary people, and finally at the end of the day you find someone that takes more skill. or do they? When does Call of Duty really take any skill to play? When you break it down, even firefights take no skill whatsoever. You lay prone, and camp, wait for someone to run by, and shoot them. You find a spot where people can't see you, and you just pick them off one at a time. There's no gravity pull on bullets, you don't have to worry about damage to the gun from freezing temperatures, water damage, etc. Hit z to prone, click the mouse a few times. So my point is that Call of Duty takes no skill to play, at its core it's a really boring version of tiresome point and click games, just in a 3d atmosphere. Wake up and see it. Your point summed up: That pretty much sums it up. Well said.
  3. I just passed you in Catherby bank while I was farming. I didn't know you were a Tip.It member.
  4. They do boost something. They boost egos. ;)
  5. Metallica was on the radio back in '03 when I made this account and I'm uncreative. Simple really.
  6. ....So you didn't do it? That guy seems ligit. Tell him to PM me, I'll take free AGS and D Claws. :twss:
  7. [hide=Red Tanya][/hide]
  8. I've ran into A Local Guy and Metoo1000 a few times. Seems I should of taken a picture. :wall:
  9. Started RS sometime in '03. I still remember trading my Dragon Med for a Red Partyhat. Also losing said hat to a tank mage 'cause I was young and stupid/cocky. Anyone remember the withdrawal limit on GP from your bank? Something like 1500 or something if memory serves. That was a pain to pay for any mid to higher priced items... Here you go. The interface for when you created your character. <- Seems to be a pretty good video of the basics of RSC. It's not too old as seen from some items worn in the video (Legends Cape for example), still a good video though. I didn't watch it all the way but it brought back a lot. :)
  10. In the rewards section of the quest you have listed the following; Reward: * 3000 Magic Experience * 2000 Agility Experience * 4000 Crafting Experience * 2000 Mining Experience * Tome of XP - Worth 2500 Experience to each of three skills of your choice * Ivandis flail * Blood Talisman * Paterdomus Columbarium rewards (Vyrewatch cremating) * New 'Vyrewatch' event in Temple Trekking/Burgh de Rott Ramble mini game Quest points gained on completion: 2 --------------------------- How after completion of the quest you also get 1k Construction Experence. Proof Picture; Thanks!
  11. Happened yesterday when I was gathering stuff to complete While Guthix Sleeps quest (which I did and the Final fight was quite easy IMO). Anyway I went to GE to buy Black Salamanders because you can use 3 attack styles with them. Well I didn't know that you only used the one Salamander and then use Harralander Tar or whatever it's called as ammo. So I bought 500 Black Salamanders for max price ('cause I wanted to get started on the quest ASAP). Then found out that I only needed one, so I tried to resell and ended up having to put them at the min price just to sell. So far I've sold one.... #-o
  12. Some random pictures. Most are older, and one being from back in '05. [hide=] ^100 Combat^ [/hide]
  13. Sold 100k essence the DAY BEFORE the Pure/Regular essence update when Essence prices [bleep]ed. I was a member at the time so they'd of changed to 100k Pure Essence. FML :wall:
  14. Level 89 That's with a two year break too.
  15. 6/10. That sig seems familiar
  16. Most people like the easy-to-play aspect of the game. The fact that there are no downloads/low CPU requirements to play the game and just the fact that the game's been around for a while means that it has a big 'built-in' fan base. Those that stick around through thick and thin. You can't really put RS and WoW in the same catagory for comparison because they're two totally different games. WoW has a lot better graphics but you also pay for it in regards to the big CPU requirements to play it and the monthly price being something like $30? a month. RS has decent graphics for Java, a low monthly membership cost and is updated rather frequently. For the price RS is a good game. You get what you pay for.
  17. [hide=]Before; After;  Memories[/hide] On Topic: I remember when I traded my Dragon Med for a Red Partyhat, if that gives any indication of how long I've been around. It's been since the middle of '03.
  18. I wrote the Tip.It Times article/made the forum post about his passing. I wouldn't say we were best friends, but we talked from time to time. @ Mr_Moocky: Thanks! :) Made it a while ago, as I'm sure you can tell by the RS graphics. I <3 Paint, even though it was your basic 'Cut-Paste' job, but still. ;)
  19. Yeah that was me. I always used it with the Dragon axe special. Currently have 1,227 tickets. I'd be getting more but I've been catching up on quests since I had 31 to do when I came back. Down to 18 now, so not too bad. :P
  20. I ran into you at Edge but couldn't remember if you used this site or not. I guess next time I'll know. :P
  21. Still got mine. ;) I was I believe 76 Combat when I did Legends Quest.
  22. Since recently coming back I haven't been able to train Summoning due to some computer issues. Well on the same token I couldn't train combat either. Well I recently got a new laptop so I can play and train all the skills again. I still have yet to actually train Summoning (all levels are achieved through TOG and the like) but levels are levels. Anyways, here's my most recent achievement. I noticed I was close to an Attack level and remembered that Dagannoths were pretty good/quick exp sooooo....
  23. RuneScape Name: Metallica56 P2P - 1872 Skill Total Add me. :D
  24. Haha, I remember doing that event. I still have the pictures from it too. [hide=] [/hide]
  25. Congrats on all Non Combats 80+. If I ever get off my butt and get my Hunter/Summon/Mining up I could have all 70+. :P Anyway, nice work!
