  1. So, Nex was humiliating me in front of my team. Blade gets a kill, oh look Torva legs. Dyingsilent gets a kill, oh look another Torva legs Soma gets a kill, oh look teeth half. Soma gets another kill, did you want the loop half too? Soma gets a third kill, here's a nature talisman to go with that. Ohhh that wasn't enough? How about Dragon Daggers, a couple more half keys, some coins, a small pile of watermelon seeds. And then, since you mentioned Nex always drops 40 torstols, Nex drops 23 as a rare drop. And the grand finale? [hide] REDEMPTION!!!! [/hide]
  2. I'll be honest I don't fancy going back to DG for rigour just yet, but everything else is really useful info. How about luring? I personally like Woox's lure spot he showed in his TD guide here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOAoLnGrjds You don't need a titan to use the same spot. It takes quite a bit of improvisation and reflexes, but it reduces downtime between kills quite a bit.
  3. Torva full helm dropped to 300-320M Pernix body dropped to 900-950M at one point, but rebounded a bit and is now 1000-1050M Pernix chaps dropped to 460-480M Virtus mask dropped to 70-100M Virtus robe top dropped to 180-200M Virtus robe legs dropped to 140-160M
  4. No, you're just unlucky. 92 DG here and I've seen at least 12 hoods. My brother destroyed 2 before level 50, since back then they were glitched and didn't work with bound. My brother, my friend (and other perm teammate), and I all have hoods. On top of that, we've found hoods for 3 friends, two 117 randoms, and had 2 or 3 more hoods that no one needed and hence we left.
  5. Go earn a Scroll of Rigour first. Karil's crossbow is probably your best choice, but with your FM level, Hand cannons aren't bad either. Any chaotic melee weapon works well, but Maul is probably the easiest to use alongside Karil's / Hand cannon. Definitely get Dragon claws, even if you have to borrow them from a friend. They boost your kill rate dramatically. Since you don't have Steel titan, you may as well just use a Unicorn stallion. If you want longer trips you can use a Pack yak, but it's not worth it in my opinion. Saradomin brew is really expensive right now, and using food can lower your kill rate pretty severely. You can even use Summoning potions with Spirit Cape for healing.
  6. I've personally earned 10M per hour, over the course of 170 hours and nearly 700 kills, with a subpar drop rate. If you're not taking donations, Nex is easily one of the best ways to build capital to fund the expensive skills, especially considering that you can frequently stop by the Grand Exchange and flip items as well.
  7. Maybe. But plenty of people will do it legitimately too.
  8. This. I'm never gonna grind every single level to 99...esp. when so many ppl who actually do are bots. That kind of attitude is pretty pathetic. Just because other people are willing to do more work than you, they're cheating?
  9. IIRC, Dharok's is pretty good for strength training.
  10. Sorry I had my breakpoints slightly off. Anyways, going past Rigour isn't necessary for Nex, but can increase your prayer per dose. 96 is the last breakpoint for Prayer potions but I forgot it's different for Super restore potions.
  11. So, something has to be ludicrously expensive to be high level gear? Bandos and Armadyl are the best non-degrading armors in the game, and as such, they should be considered "high-level." I do agree that Godswords aren't high level gear, though. Frankly, aside from the niche use of Corping, all but the BGS have really no use at all. Who are you to define high level? And degrading isn't relevant unless the costs are unreasonable, which only applies to the revenant dropped items. Look at Soul Wars cape for instance. It generally takes fairly high skill levels to earn, some amount of skill, a fair amount of effort. And it has unparalleled bonuses for that particular equipment slot. Look at Divine/Elysian spirit shields. They come from possibly the most dangerous enemy in the game (barring Dungeoneering), are extremely valuable, and have good stats along with unique and useful abilities. Now look at Bandos chestplate. Its beaten defensively by Torag's platebody, Guthan's platebody, and Dharok's platebody. Its beaten offensively by Statius's platebody and Vesta's chainbody. Its tied with offensively by Fighter Torso. Its prayer bonus is curbstomped by Proselyte. And it's matched offensively + in prayer, plus completely outshined defensively, by Torva platebody. And then there's Void, which is also a viable option in many cases. It's not hard to get either - last I checked, the whole set costs less than 40M, which doesn't take much time to make at all even if you're low level. Armadyl might be a little bit better on account of it having less competition (we have far less good Range gear than melee). But I definitely don't consider Bandos high level at all. EDIT: Also, I was only listing TRADEABLE high-level gear before, as the topic creator added for tradeable instances. There's a lot of other gear I consider high level that's not tradeable. Elite Void, Ardougne Cloak 3, Chaotic weapons, imbued rings, barrow gloves all come to mind.
  12. Off-topic, but when I read your title, I was wondering when I left Tip.It and found a cooking board. :-D Shows how long it's been since I've cooked anything that's not a fish in Runescape.
  13. Okay, kind of off-topic but I'd like to set the record straight. Nothing on our thread is really relevant anymore which is why none of us are posting on it. The_Ancient originally had a bunch of ideas about how we can induct people, but in the end, most of us felt it was just too complicated and not worth the bother. Nowadays, we just look for people who fit the bill and who we think have the right attitude, and invite them to join. I really need to tell Ancient to get rid of that thread or something... :wall:
  14. Most of our team didn't have Divine/Elysian when we started. Many don't have them now, either. It really bums me out that you talk about us that way...
  15. Invited J35u5 to our team since I couldn't stand to see a good Nexer being forced to coinshare. :D Started out as a 4-man but a few more people showed up and we wound up with 7-man Torva platelegs. Pretty large split considering our last few drops were Pernix cowl, Virtus mask and robe legs, and Zaryte bow, all the splits adding to barely 150M. But I had an exam, and went to study, and while I was studying, some people went to bed, and others threatened me with waffle irons, until I finished and went Nex again. Another Torva platelegs, this time only 4-man. :shades: Totally overshadowed by Maz's daily Pernix but I'm happy. EDIT: Here's the drop pic for the second pair, I'm the gravestone.
  16. That is not true at all. The stats (and equipment) required for Nex is very different from the pre-requisites for fighting the Corporeal Beast. Just off the top of my head, magic is nice to have but not absolutely critical for Corp, but it is critical at Nex. Defense is similar to Magic - you don't have to have 99 Defence to corp well (even though you should), but you do need it to Nex well. At Corp, a lower range level is actually better than a higher range level in certain circumstances, and irrelevant in others. 99 Ranged is practically a must-have for Nex. Attack/Strength aren't as critical at Nex as they are at Corp. People with 80+ Prayer can get by at Nex (although 96 is advised), but 95 is a strict requirement for good Corporeal beast teams. You don't need high Summoning for Corp (just enough to avoid losing life to his drains), but 96 is very important at Nex.
  17. If you're only having problems with Jad, use Ancient curses and simply kill Jad with deflect prayers. Pretty much every reliable method of killing Jad requires prayer switching. Melee actually requires more prayer switching since you constantly need to pray against melee attacks too. However, if Jad is killed solely with deflect prayers, healers will not be summoned, making the fight simpler.
  18. Repair Rune Pouch isn't very useful as you already have access to remote chat to the abyss mage, however it makes the pouches degrade slightly slower, wether that time period is long or not is uknown. Vengeance Group is epic in clan wars and soulwars, very epic. Actually, I believe someone already tested it and confirmed that the pouches last five times as long. Plus, it's much faster to cast the spell than to repair via NPC contact. EDIT: Some people claimed 5. However, other tests are showing it may last as much as ten times longer. In either case there is a dramatic improvement.
  19. Virtus, Pernix, Torva, Divine and Elysian spirit shields. I wouldn't call Bandos / Armadyl high level gear. Nor Godswords.
  20. Sorry, but Verac's flail is pretty much as good as of a weapon you're going to get unless you switch to another style, or get a Chaotic maul. The other good Waterfiend hunting weapons are Zamorakian spear (which uses controlled to crush), Saradomin sword (which uses aggressive to crush), and a Godsword (which also uses aggressive to crush). You might try Tzhaar-ket-em + Berserker necklace but it's probably only slightly better than Verac's flail. Or just go Dungeoneering until you have a Chaotic maul.
  21. Thanks for that. I will not use it yet. But some other time. I actually hate making of it most. Takes such time. +-500 hp stinks. Even if you get it back, when your at a boss waiting at 50 hp so that you get regen ain't a good idea. Use the Overload - log out trick. Saves 400-500 LP. And you shouldn't be safing against a boss anyways. Most of the time, it's safe hanging around 400-500 LP under max. Do you use it and log out right away? When you come back - are you stats being restored every 15 seconds? Or is it juts a normal stat boost (like from extremes) Jagex fixed that a fairly long time ago. You used to be able to overload then log out straight away. Depending how fast you logged out you would only get hit for maybe 100 instead of the 500. You log back in and overloads work as normal, you even get the +500 back after 5 minutes. Jagex fixed this however; now you cannot log out after taking an overload dose. They made it so taking an overload dose makes you "in combat". Hence; you have to wait 10 seconds until after combat to log out. So 10 seconds after the -500 lp has taken effect. Bzzt. Wrong. I've used it at least six or seven times today alone. It works. You just need to be faster.
  22. Are you doing this for the Artisan's workshop rewards or the XP? I believe the normal XP-rates outside Artisan's workshop are the same if not higher, and at much lower costs, in the case of Adamant. Once you hit 88 Smithing, making Adamant platebodies beats anything in the Artisan's workshop for both lower GP/XP and higher XP/Hour. If you want to get the rewards first (no shame in that, it's what I did :P) then I believe Ceremonial swords have the best rates. It takes a while to learn, but just remember to err on the side of caution - never use a hard hit if a 5 would break it, never use a medium hit if a 3 would break it, and try to not use a soft hit if a 2 would break it. (Breaks at 9 on the tip, 7 on the rest of the blade).
  23. To be fair, I went Rapier first and I've regretted it ever since. 1) I never asked for what's useful where. I know precisely where each of them is useful. Probably better than you do, incidentally. My point is that saying "everyone should get rapiers first" is an over-generalization, and not entirely true. 2) Chaotic crossbow can be gotten before Rigour for hunting Nex. I know OtG and PiD aren't very open to the idea, but many tests have proven that, if used properly, Ancient curses are actually very effective at Nex. When we did a trio and got 2 kills with absolutely no Pernix items, we had two people on Ancient curses. On the other hand, Chaotic crossbow is an improvement no matter which set of prayers you choose to use. Not true! I also train non-combat skills and do some Dungeons. :D And Corp.
  24. I went Rapier, Maul, Crossbow, and I'm currently working on Rigour. I think I would've preferred Maul, Crossbow, Rigour, with the next 200K being saved for either a replacement CCB or a Rapier if I decide to go back to Slayer.
  25. To be fair, I went Rapier first and I've regretted it ever since. Reading comprehension please. I know it's good for slayer, but for me, that's all it's good for, and I don't do much of it anymore. I never once said I wanted CLS instead. I just said I regretted getting Rapier first, in response to someone saying everyone should get Rapier first.
