DFHs in PvP - A bug... or not?
Or her communication skills are lacking. Plenty of Jagex mods get confused when typing responses. I won't be surprised if she meant something completely different and mistyped it. EDIT: Might as well mention this. Before summoning came out, someone complained to multiple Jagex Mods about how it would be unfair in f2p worlds or the like. Two of the mods responded that summoning would be a f2p skill. One of them was one of the newer moderators, but the other one was one of the older content developers. Jagex mods can make mistakes too, as far as wording their responses. It's pretty obvious he meant "Summoning won't hurt you on f2p.", not, "Summoning is available on f2p."

DFHs in PvP - A bug... or not?
I haven't personally noticed any DFH drop pictures on at least 3 forums that I've visisted within the past 3 days. There are plenty of vids and pictures out there, but most of them appear to be from within the first week of PvP worlds. If Mod Kathy is correct, I think what she is trying to say is that it was a bug, and it has been fixed. Therefore, if you're still getting them, you should report them. And before someone posts a video to show me I'm wrong, there's really no reason to. You can't prove it was recent, nor can I prove that it was from early in the update. This is purely speculation based on the lack of topics in major forums. If you don't agree, then simply report it as a bug next time you see such a drop.

Dragon Full Helm - now a PVP drop (confirmed)
I think players should realize that almost everything gets easier. Being able to cook sharks used to be a huge achievement when I reached it. Cook-X comes along. Being able to fish sharks used to be a huge achievement. Swan Song changed this for good. Manta Rays used to be rare. Trawler update happens. Dragon Chainbody used to have immense value. Barrows is added, Veracs makes KQ way easier, and Dust Devils add another source. Guthans used to be 16M. Look at it now. Saradomin Godswords used to be impossible to find. Someone finds a safespot, others find an AI abuse later, and now the previously 150M+ sword is a whopping... 40M. Get used to it. Item prices change, skills become easier, quest rewards become obsolete. That's the downside of playing a dynamic game.

Ranging in PVP using the wilderness ditch
Which is where you're wrong. When creating a new object, they quite literally have to make a decision one way or the other. Going off your paper airplane analogy, a piece of paper is rectangular in shape. This particular airplane requires a square sheet of paper. Either you're slicing off a piece to make it a square (Not blocking obstacles), or you're slicing off the piece, then folding it into the airplane. If you leave it as a normal sheet of paper, the program crashes. Now, to save time, Jagex could ask the person providing the said sheet of paper to cut it into a square shape first. However, if they choose to do that, then by definition they are stating "All objects obstruct range attacks unless otherwise stated," or, "All objects do not obstruct range attacks unless otherwise stated." If it's the former case, then they explicitly changed it so that range attacks are not obstructed. If it's the latter, then they are the ones who intentionally told the game to set it to that. I can't say for a fact that Jagex intended this to be used as a ranger's safespot. But I'm sure that at least half, if not more of our activities in Runescape were not "intended" from the start. They did however intend to allow attacks to go over it, at one point or another. Therefore, it is not a bug. It is also not "game-breaking", seeing as it's easily avoided with a multitude of methods, and it's not unlike features in many, many other parts of Runescape. TL,DR Version: It's not a bug, and it's not a game breaking abuse. No reason to fix it.

Ranging in PVP using the wilderness ditch
Good job. You've not only proved you can't spell a 4 letter name correctly, but you also have successfully showed the entire forum you don't know how coding works. It is NOT a piece of paper. It's more along the lines of, Does this ditch obstruct attacks? A) Yes, it can. B) No, it can not. Now, they can have a "default" answer, but if that's the case, that needs to be coded in as well. So either in coding the default answer as B (Unlikely, because a large majority of objects seem to fall under category A) , or by choosing "B) No, it can not", they are CHOOSING to let you attack over it. Learn to program before making such arguments, instead of pulling them out of your [wagon].

Ranging in PVP using the wilderness ditch
They DIDNT specifically make the choice to allow range and mage to go over it, they specifically didnt BLOCK ranged and mage from going over it, because at the time, there was no need for such stipulations, as people could only fight eachother on one side of the ditch, and the only thing to attack across the ditch would be the wandering black knight/rats. It doesn't matter if players can attack players now. Jagex intentionally permitted people to attack over the ditch, be it players or monsters. This is not a bug any more than allowing people to cast teleport block is. And this is no more game breaking than being able to be teleport blocked and ice barraged at the same time is.

Ranging in PVP using the wilderness ditch
Are you stupid or just pretending to be? When Jagex adds a new object to their game, programming wise, they have to determine it's properties. There's a property that obstructs attacks. For example, the barrows coffins don't allow you to attack over them. They selected to allow rangers to attack over the ditch. It's not an "accident". They specifically made the choice to allow mage and range attacks to go over it. If that's not intentional enough for you, about half the things in Runescape are "bugs". And if a fighter is dumb enough to fight a ranger next to an obstacle, then he or she chooses to give the ranger or wizard the upper hand. Jagex gives us things to use. USE THEM. "I like this spot" is about as good an excuse as "I don't like wearing dragonhide armor when I'm ranging".

If someone wants to PK there they should be able to do that without these rangers abusing bugs. We shouldn't avoid our favorite place to pk because of these guys. I think Greater Demons should be made non multi. Too many teams have both ancient and normal mages and use both TB and Ice Barrage. If someone wants to PK there, they should be able to do that without these mages abusing bugs. We shouldn't avoid our favorite place to pk because of these guys. Never mind the fact that mages are supposed to use magic, since I don't like it, even though it's clearly programmed to be like that, it's a bug.

Fine. Don't believe it. I honestly don't think Jagex tracks which account participated in which quest. It's probably not easy for Jagex to fix this. If there are numerous accounts by people who claim to have lost theirs, even if it's in all likelihood a fake attempt to get Jagex to give them a holiday event they missed, do you need to wear your holiday item THAT badly that you can't wait a day or two for Jagex to straighten it out? #-o

Okay now finish cruel brawl or endless brawl. :

How to fix 1 itemers and give mage something.
Easier solution: Protect item doesn't work on PvP worlds, and you are automatically skulled. This gives mages a chance, since fighters have to think twice before using whips / godswords / dragonfire shields. Mages really don't protect many of their items anyways, since good magic items all have low protect value, and runes come in stacks.

*****WARNING***** This is a rumor I just heard on RSOF. I am not 100% it's true, but it's best to play it safe. Jagex accidentally allowed you to retrieve certain holiday items from the chest that you did not earn. They attempted to fix this bug. You can no longer do this. Also, if you did not earn that item, the item will disappear when you attempt to wear it, and will not appear in the chest if you deposit it. Diango will not return it to you either. The dangerous part is, some people have reported that this occurs to them when they did complete the event. In other words, don't wear your past holiday items until this is sorted out. If this is true, you may lose your older holiday items for good.

The Majority of Rune Armour and Weapons?
Rune Full Helmets - Almost every higher level slayer monster. Jellies drop them, Greater Demons, Gargoyles, Nechryaels, etc, etc. Rune Platebody - Most obvious example is General Graardor. You've seen how many people are fighting him... and he drops these plates left and right. Rune Platelegs - This one I'm less sure about. I'd guess a large portion of these are smithed. K'ril Tsutsaroth drops some, but there aren't very many other sources of these. Rune Kiteshield - I got ~50 kites alone from Commander Zilyana. I alched the skirts I got so I'm not sure how many of those I had. Ice Trolls drop kites frequently as well. I currently have 140 or so Rune Kites in my bank, all from drops. Clue scrolls yield a lot of rune items as well, especially plates and legs.

Ranging in PVP using the wilderness ditch
A) Because you can still lure people. In some parts of RS, one side of the ditch has a higher attack range than the other. B) Because you can still lure people to a painful death against Revenants. C) Because Jagex wants some sort of "border point" for the wilderness. It makes more sense to keep the ditch, than add "The Great Wall of Gielinor" complete with doors every 5 steps.

Skill Xp - In One Day ?!?!
In Marim Dungeon, you aren't always barraging 9 targets, since monkeys die. You spend time moving bones around once in a while. Sometimes someone runs through and sends the monkeys scattering. They have more defense. Remember that your friend (only the one you target) will have 0, or near zero defense using brews + beers. Also, if you used the right spot, the chance of a PKer finding you is practically 0. In any case, Jagex probably realized how dumb it was to keep this feature in so they took it out, so it's more or less irrelevant now.

Psycho, you're an idiot if you truly think a ditch stops you from ranging. Jagex should not be wasting time finding a way to implement different maps on different servers so that the ditch disappears on PvP worlds. That can result in all kinds of nasty issues. It also makes absolutely no sense for a ditch to block arrows. And realize that the whole damn world is open for PvP combat. If you want to fight without ranged or magical attacks, then choose a spot that doesn't have a glaringly obvious obstruction to melee attacks. -.-

Ranging in PVP using the wilderness ditch
Okay fine, I'll add something. 1. Get 99 Range. 2. Pull out a bow. 3. Shoot them back. 4. ??? 5. PROFIT! Is that better? >_> Not to mention, after 90 range, your max hit doesn't increase a whole lot. Accuracy does, but it's not enough to make a big difference if you're both in range gear. If he's in melee gear, well, switch bow to ancient staff and switch shoot to ice barrage.

Skill Xp - In One Day ?!?!
how? Fastest Magic XP - You used to be able to trade (no trade limit) in the MTA Alchemist Playground. Get tons of friends to go alch, and trade you the gp they get in exchange for natures. You turn in coins for 2 xp per gp. Using this, and just random recruiting on RSOF, I was able to get over 250k an hour on one of my other accounts. Mad personally got 94 mage from like 80 in a single weekend with little to no effort. All you really do is trade, and this was with 5-10 people... now imagine 50-60 people doing it. Fastest Range XP - For about 2 days after the PvP update, Jagex kept it so that if you launched an attack at someone and you were in wilderness, but they were not when the damage would be assigned (AKA I cast a fireblast, you run out), the damage is negated. Since XP is calculated when you attack, I gain XP, and for the sake of all counters, I *did* damage you, you didn't take any damage. Since they decided to keep this with the PvP updates, and the chinchompas have a bizarre attack calculation, you can splash in non multi and train on 9 of your friends. The center friend just has to drink zamorak brew to lower his defense. I was gaining 100 xp per chinchompa on 3 friends... multiply that by 3 for 9 friends, multiply by 4 for brawling gloves, and multiply by 1200 tosses per hour (You never need to stop for any reason, just non stop attacking, so 1200 chinchompas per hour). Fastest Thieving XP - Obvious, collect sq'irk juice. Fastest Farming XP - Again, obvious and said tons of times, collect millions of vinesweeper points.
-
Skill Xp - In One Day ?!?!
Construction, Thieving, and Farming, in theory, can all go ridiculously fast. Just save up hoards of vinesweeper points, or sq'irk juice, or long / curved bones and you can get xp unbelievably quick. I'm pretty sure you can do the same for some of the other skills too, but I'm not sure. If you wanted Range, you could also potentially have gotten ~35M xp in one day. Only, you had to have done it before Jagex nerfed the chinchompa spot, which only really gave you 2 days.

A Prisoner's Dilemma: We Need a Metagame
... No, I am not talking about a clan. And yes, it's VERY easy to enforce. In fact, it's already being enforced. The only thing that needs to be done is to make it more established, such as official posts in certain areas. Why is it so easy to enforce? Because everyone hangs around at safezones, you can just run. All you have to do is get all the PKers who want to PK one way to hang out at the same safezone on the same server, and have a list of the actual guidelines they use. The point *is* to let players choose what style to play, but more importantly, to help them find the people who want to play with the same rules. LOL You are like a brick wall. Ok, I was using a Clan and their willingness to agree to preset rules as an example. You failed to understand me. I'm not talking about building a Clan (although that may not be a bad idea). I'm talking about how they agree upon things before a clash. You also failed to address the Castle Wars scenario. Unless you bring a clan or friends that will follow you, the random players there will NOT do what you say...even if it is a winning strategy. You say it is easy to enforce. What's to stop a bigger group from crashing you? Try as you might, it will ultimately fail. The people speak for themselves and most do not agree with you. Afterthought: Lets say you and your group of like-minded players are chilling in Fally. You follow what ever rules you want. Then a group of equal size and levels comes in and picks fights with you. As we use what is available to use to fight, you stand there and lose ground as you try to hang onto your honor. Then you either die or retreat to a bank...while we all sit outside and wait for you to log out. What is the point? You should honestly go away now. You've just proved you didn't even read my thread. A) I never said those are the rules you should follow. I said that's the set of rules that currently exists, and that a set of rules needs to exist. I never said that we need to go by those rules. B) Okay, now explain to me... why the heck would that group of players choose a multi location? And no one's going to die, because they just walk out. This has nothing to do with honor whatsoever. C) Realizing that there's no risk for them, they can always stop following the rules long enough to waste all of your supplies and runes. Again, with no risk, because the bank is right there and you're not going to ko when your max hit is ~70, max HP is 115 and you heal two 38s for every 70 ags special. Not to mention someone else can always jump in and ruin your chance of killing one of these people. Read the thread, then post. Or else go post somewhere else.

A Prisoner's Dilemma: We Need a Metagame
Please, please, read the thread. Winning a fight means you actually kill your opponent. Wasting 30k per trip a dozen times without ever getting close to killing someone doesn't appeal to the majority of PKers. If you want to play like that, fine. The point of this thread is that their should be a metagame made, so that people who agree to PK a certain way can do so with each other, with every side respecting one another. ... No, I am not talking about a clan. And yes, it's VERY easy to enforce. In fact, it's already being enforced. The only thing that needs to be done is to make it more established, such as official posts in certain areas. Why is it so easy to enforce? MUST WATCH: UPDATE: Holland considers virtual theft a crime
You misread the rule. A can only be traded for A or B. That does not mean B can only be traded for A or B.

A Prisoner's Dilemma: We Need a Metagame
Edited after Ixindor's second post... Ixindor, reread the thread. Particularly the part about what a metagame is. It's obvious you don't have a clue what I'm talking about, since nowhere did I say Jagex should be changing anything. A metagame is something that players create and agree on, above and beyond what is created by the actual game makers.

Do you follow the PKing "Honor Code?"
How many people here like Runescape? By like, that means you have to like it enough to want to perform disgusting sexual activities with the creators of the game, followed by defending it to the death in a roman gladiatorial arena against a WoW player's pet lion with no weapons, armor, or heck, even clothes. Oh, no one thinks so? Okay no one likes Runescape.
