  1. Crap! My plans to get 80+ in all my stats are going to be foiled with this rumor of a new skill coming about! Keep it away! KEEP IT AWAY! AAHHHH! *Falls over, twitching.* ;) In all seriousness though, it sounds like an interesting update will come about in the near future. However, like Storm, I don't like the idea of having future updates being discussed in that fashion. Sure it's great that Mod MMG is making that effort to talk to the players, but is it really necessary to talk about stuff like that that could've been posted in the long awaited Development Diaries instead? The chat's usually full (extremely full once Mod MMG or another famous individual is in the chat) and unless people post what he talks about, the general population aren't going to know and get their information from posts like this, which could end up getting distilled and twisted into strange truths (like cabbages become strawberries after a number of people passed on the rumor). Plus this can produce more pressure on the development teams because now, just like the Behind the Scenes, they're facing expectations of the players again, just without a date. But people are going to be anticipating and if these "updates" don't come quick enough, you'll have people crying foul. And even when people do post the chat's discussion, there's still some speculation. Are those people exaggerating? Are they twisting what Mod MMG said? Now, keep in mind I'm not accusing anyone here who's posted the chat's discussion details of lying, and I do appreciate you guys for sharing the info you're receiving from the chat. I'm just slightly disappointed that this information is just being passed on in this fashion rather than in a more public formal manner to inform the ENTIRE RuneScape population, not a select few who managed to be in the chat at the time.
  2. This sort of news makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. :)
  3. We'll let you guys figure this one out. ;) It's more fun that way.
  4. In case people are wondering why this topic isn't locked yet, the original one was locked due to spam. Please don't let the same thing happen to this one. Thanks. For reference purposes, here's the original topic: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=478115
  5. I actually saw this on TV a while back. http://www.dailynk.com/english/read.php ... 0&num=2136 http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/s ... 9/Overview [yt]ajATPo-HUfY[/yt] I believe this is the one you were talking about. And it's one of the few documentaries out there on North Korea. Everything they did was monitored by a North Korea representative...
  6. I would like to see the rate changed a bit more slightly, since now they practically don't even appear... They help kill the monotony of the skilling for me, but now they don't even come to say boo. >_< Oh the tragedies of completing most of the randoms properly and being level 123. :wall:
  7. Just as a reminder to some of our readers... Many of the articles that appear are editorials and express the opinions of the individual authors themselves. That being said, any bias you feel is there is a result of said expressed opinions. You're more than welcome to disagree with the opinions, but in order to push the discussion forward please do state why, not just "they're wrong" or "so many mistakes!" It's frustrating to read stuff like that and not get a sense of why our readers feel this way.
  8. 93, as in Ninety Three
  9. I feel strangely alone without the randoms. XD But in all seriousness, ever since the update happened, I haven't gotten ANY randoms. Kind of creepy but also a bit annoying for me because now I want the randoms just to get the music. XD Or just to see the cool stuff like the Pilroy and Bee Keep haha.
  10. I'll miss the BTS too. While I'm [still] not P2P, I always did enjoy reading them just for the sake of reading. It gives us a good luck of what's coming to the game this month. Maybe we're a bit spoiled and have learned too much of the things they have in store for us. Previously the game didn't have a BTS and people still whined about when things were coming. When BTS was in place, there was a huge roar for excitement, but extremely high expectations as well and more often than not we find that such updates ended up with glitches and constant system updates. :wall: So maybe the lack of BTS is a good thing. It gives the Jagex team time to polish updates up so we have less of these problems and have a more enjoyable experience. Plus keep in mind they already did announce that the game this year will focus more on fixing things that were already there rather than leave them broken. :P
  11. Well, after high school I applied for UC Berkeley and UC Davis. And I got rejected by both. So I went to the local community college instead for two years to start on my lower division and general education requirements for my major (Business Administration), and tried to apply for UC Berkeley again. They rejected me again. 3.50 GPA + Work Experience + Extracurricular Activities + course work to be transferred completed and they still said no. :wall: Yet the guy who applied with me with 2.5GPA and work experience somehow got in. Oh geez. Must've been something in the personal statements. Who knows. They're not obligated to tell you why you're rejected apparently. Community college cost me around $4000 in total for the two years I spent, but the costs were cut thanks to the Governor's Fee Waiver and the government grant I received to help pay for tuition and books. So I pretty much spent nothing. :| I went to UC Riverside, since that was the other UC campus that had my major. Spent two years down there and actually enjoyed it a lot, probably more than I would have if I had gone to Berkeley instead. During the first year, I got a small grant and some loans, but during my second year, I was unable to receive financial aid. I got a job as a resident advisor, which cut about $11,000 out of my year's expense as the job helped pay for my residence hall fees and food. The rest was out of my parents pocket. I finished a quarter early, so I spent about $3800 on tuition and about $800 on books. :wall: UC's tuition at the time was about $1900 a quarter. Not sure if they've increased the prices since I've graduated last year. Some schools offer discounted living expenses if you're a resident advisor/program coordinator/any other residence life staff positions they may have. If you think you can handle the responsibility, I highly recommend the job. It's a great way to get to know a lot of people. :) Not to mention it looks nice on the resume. Plus you get to have some stories to tell in the end. Some stories: 1. The city was under tornado warning and I was on duty that night. I was told to get any students I saw outside to get inside. It was storming pretty bad already with a lot of lightning and thunder. Try as I might though, there were still students running around outside in the parking lot screaming when the hail came down. The tornado never got close to the campus, but had it done so, I really would have no idea what to do other than try to get everyone into the windowless hallway and pray like I never had before. :| The tornado had touched down about 10 to 15 minutes away from us and had flipped over a train car and damaged a few buildings. Baby tornado it was, but tornadoes in Southern California? Weird. 2. I was studying for a sociology midterm into the wee morning hours. At around 2:30 or so I went to bed. At around 3:30 the fire alarm went off. The resident advisors all have a special alarm in their room that screeches when there's a fire in ANY of the area's buildings. I stumbled off of my bed, put on a jacket over my pajamas, stuffed my feet into my sneakers sockless, grabbed my fire extinguisher and emergency backpack and ran out of my room to check the security panel to see where the fire was. Soon as I found that out I went to the building (and it was freezing cold that night too argh) and found the resident advisor there staring at the closed door of the suite where the fire was. I asked her why was she was still standing there and was told it was really smokey. So I opened the door and just went  when I saw how much smoke was coming out of one of the shower rooms. Finally two RAs went in and put out the fire. The fire was in a trash can. Apparently someone hookah, which is not allowed, and dumped the coals into the trashcan. You can figure out the rest. :wall: 3. So I was in the shower when the special fire alarm went off. :wall: I had to wrap my hair up in a towel, toss on some clothes and ran out of my room in less than two minutes looking like an idiot with my hair in a towel and shivering under my sweatshirt and sweatpants. >_< Someone burned popcorn in another building. Funny enough, almost every RA in the area at the time happened to be in the shower too so we all looked a bit odd when we came to see what happened haha. 4. Early evening, someone was hungry and tried to make some Ramen. Fire alarm goes off and we find this burnt chunk of a thing in the microwave. At first it looked like a coffee cake that went bad. Turned out the guy was trying to cook the Ramen but didn't add water. :wall:
  12. Here, let me write up another article and let you post it three hour later. \ (Just kidding.) Thanks for the comment, Racheya. ^_^ To be honest, I was thinking about having Aestas die... But that seemed too tragic. :| Felt this would be better.
  13. ^_^ Hope everyone enjoys the articles! More surprises to come next week! Sadly my time for the fictional section has ended for now, but be sure to watch out for the next author for next week. You're in for another great story! Please be sure to help us point out any mistakes that are present. Some of us edited these articles without caffeine.
  14. Glad that you guys like the story so far. :) Hopefully the next installment will meet, if not exceed, your expectations. ;) Sorry, no spoilers and no clues as to what's to come next. But maybe try guessing.
  15. :P I don't think a British company would want to celebrate the Independence Day of their former colonies... That's what people are getting at. St. Patrick's Day would probably be next. If not, then maybe April Fool's Day, but that's rather close to Easter.
  16. Please also understand from my part that I don't think it's nice for anyone to get scammed, even if they did break the rules, but the fact that they've nationally said on television they used real life money to buy the items he had which he later lost due to his carelessness/lack of knowledge of scam sites steered the sympathy for him away. I won't say he deserved it or not, but Jagex cannot give his items back, and his parents and guardians cannot expect that either. It's not that Jagex doesn't want to do anything, but rather they can't, or they can only do so much. I don't think anyone's directly attacking the kid, but more on the family on how they didn't do their research properly in the game and see what is it that their kids do on the Internet. I can understand the family's concern for Timmy's feelings, but they also need to look into Jagex's guidelines, rules, etc. before going up to the TV station. If the kid hadn't admitted to RWT'ing, and said the money was say used to pay for his membership instead, and the character was unrecoverable, then maybe we'd have some sympathy there. But that's not the case here.
  17. I wish the news station would have done their research more... Instead they've made fools of themselves. >_< http://www.abc15.com/content/news/inves ... lekJw.cspx ^ Text version of the report if anyone missed it earlier.
  18. I agree. This is a misunderstanding of the rules, which in my opinion have been rewritten to a point where it should be clear that using real life money to buy "points" could get the character banned, and that Jagex is not responsible for any losses as a result of the character's irresponsibility. They will assist you in retrieving the character, and that's it. They're not going to go do a server roll-back to help you gain your items back, and they're most certainly not going to make those items appear magically in the bank again. It'd be unfair for others who may later wanted want to make those same claims and get denied. Better to not give anyone who gets hacked anything back than give some at all. Fair and simple.
  19. Locked. I'm sorry to see that the thread turned out the way it did. Hopefully some better discussions will come out of it later in the near future.
  20. Considering how often you log on? (Which I'm sure is for 2 hours each night; the cc just doesn't know about it, right? ) I've been wcing for the past month or so, and I get about 3-4 randoms per session. The oven bell just rang. My personal pizza is ready. :twss: :P I've been logging on a lot more during weekends now so bleh. Blame the tiring work week for the other days.
  21. o.o My luck must be good or something. I've only had one random event in the past two to three weeks, and that happened last night with the Quiz Master one. :-#
  22. In regards to the Mark Gerhard article: Keep in mind, it is the author's own thoughts on the matter, thus the reason why it's subjective. You don't have to agree with it. Personally I'm taking Mr. Gerhard's speech as a way of just trying to introduce himself and try to get into the community spirit as soon as he can. Sure his speech may seem out of this world and full of promises we're not sure he'll keep, but we won't know that until later on. He has only been CEO now for a couple of weeks, so give him some time. Not everything can happen overnight. :P If you don't like Mr. Gerhard, that's fine. If you like Mr. Gerhard, that's fine too. No one's forced to love or hate the guy. Just be respectful that's all. And guys, please don't use this thread as a means to try to speculate who "me" is. This thread is not for that purpose. :P If you're dying to know who he is and what he does, a PM should suffice, not hijacking a thread on the Tip.it Times or any other thread on the forum.
  23. Locked upon request. :) Have a nice day! Remember, duckies go moo.
  24. You do realize that there may be a Jagex staff member lurking about that reads these forums right? They probably found out of the scheme and quickly made a decision to not allow it. Although now it also means whoever gave you that information is also in trouble. :?
  25. If you're serious about this movie and want to attract people to be a part of it to help you out, Rick Rolling is a bad idea and way to do it.
