Windows is exactly what makes it a big failure for porting. I edited in my last post we can agree to disagree though. I don't want to turn this into a technical discussion over crap like that. Regardless, I am excited to see what becomes of it! The fact MS thrives on being so proprietary is what I am talking about. Now while Sony may be proprietary too, they are a company that is going to be more likely to let someone get in there and look at the nuts and bolts of the code as opposed to MS. And I really wouldn't go trusting the MS camp with my code either. Bad things happen when MS gets their hands on other peoples stuff. If it goes to wii I probably won't be playing RuneScape on the console platform. Just not a console I am even remotely interested in. And I sure wouldn't buy it just to play when I can already play on my computer. I have no intentions of buying a PS3 either. If RuneScape did come out with it on PS3 I would buy a PS3 though. It would push me to do so, because I know I would be willing to buy other games to play on the console. It is a pretty hypothetical question and one that probably can't really be answered. But I wonder how many people are like me on that stance? Edit: While I think the whole idea of it being on console platform is pretty cool. I agree with you on it degrading the game. I think it is best for everyone involved, except for maybe Jagex and whoever they would be in business with on this venture, if this just got swept under the rug and forgotten about. One last thing and I am through with this. The bad thing about MS customers is they really don't know how bad they are being done. They just don't know any better or any different.

It would probably be easier to port over to PS3 due to the fact it isn't Windows like. I have no idea what is inside the wii so I can't say how well it may or may not possibly work. One of the biggest factors i think would be hardware. I don't see them really trying to go with just one console. Maybe not all of them though. I would bet my RS bank if it was just one, it would be with Sony. Edit: And those sales figures look nice till you stop and think about how much later the PS3 came out than did the 360! Think about it. So if you really want to get down to it, PS3 is now outselling 360. Regardless of who they choose, I am pretty sure the Sony camp would be a lot easier to work with than the MS camp would be too. This nonsense can go on forever too. I think this is a good time to say we can agree to disagree.

I am not here to debate MS. Playstation is the better choice capabilities wise and it is not twice as much. It is one hundred dollars more. If we wanted to debate MS I could tell you tons of things that are wrong with the MS camp. And yes, I would quit playing RuneScape altogether if they only made it availiable on the Xbox platform. This is about RS on console, not to debate the merits of the MS camp.

Im not real hip on programming and all that. About the most I do is a little bash scripting which yes I know, it is not programming. But I don't think it is really so much porting as much as just getting a JVM that would run on the PS3. But what do I know? In all reality I suppose you could already play RuneScape on the PS3. Not sure how well, but that really wouldn't be playing it as a console game being as it would be done by running it through a Linux OS installed on the PS3. Not really the same thing. I don't have a PS3, so I don't know how that would work. But if they had a JVM in the firmware somehow, then wouldn't it really just be a matter of downloading to the drive the files you need to run locally on the machine and then just running it natively on the PS3, or maybe it is gonna be a whole big makeover somehow? Would you go and buy it just like any other game initially on a disc at the store?

PS3 browser has Adobe flash now, Java may be next? Besides, unless I am wrong here. sure the Xbox 360 has twice as much memory! But wait, doesn't the PS3 have twenty five times as much video memory!? PS3 has better processor. Sure we could go on, I think the video memory issue alone may be the big clue. But then again with consoles they may be able to make it work with a lot less video memory? Or is video memory not so much as important as system memory for RuneScape? Don't get me to lying. Regardless, PS3 would have to be the first choice.

Quoting from a post in a thread I found on Ren's site. In your face elitist haters. Edit: The only reason I even post like this is, I can see absolutey no reason why people playing on a completely different server than you seems to bother you so much. Honestly, how does having a f2p community grieve you so much. I play p2p when I can. I can't always though. I wish I could. Had it not been for f2p I would probably not be playing RuneScape at all right now though. I don't play online games I can't at least test drive first without having to pay for them. I am doing good to pay for the one game I do love playing. It is people like this that make me despise the p2p community as much as the ones I despise in the f2p community. Double Edit: It is also nice for those of us who can't always pay to play to at least be able to do something. Train something. Because you know the f2p is not gonna have all the benefits or goodies the p2p will. But at least you can still get training or whatever in, and that is nice. I applaud Jagex for not falling to the way of the greedy money hungry corporate types who want let you have anything unless you can pay. I know Jagex is in it to make money. But they really do show a concern for the gaming community even if you don't agree with every thing they do. I know I don't agree with everything they do.
-
Hopefully Jagex will continue in the spirit of allowing everyone to enjoy their games and offer f2p! Edit: What would it profit or benefit you it it was only p2p. Is having it f2p also gonna affect your p2p experience in one bit what so ever? If so, please back away slowly from the computer. Walk outside and breathe deeply.

Aren't monks 150 experience points and not 120?

As someone who got 76 fletching by strictly doing arrows I can tell you iron arrows do not sell. I had 100k irons on the market for several months and never sold a stinkin one of em. I am guessing better arrows probably do sell, but irons do not sell, or I had really really bad luck.

Random event npc are conspiring against me

Unless I read wrong or it is an outdated/read the date wrong or something. Aren't the updates delayed a week? Edit: Nope, that news is dated today. Looks like another week before random update will take place? -
Farming -- How do I get rid of diseased and dead marigolds?

use a spade on them -
If it is only one console, it has to be the Sony PS3. Any other choice if it were just one would be stupid. PS3 would have to be the first choice, thats just good common sense if you know about the hardware in the different consoles. Edit: If they were to make if for only XBox, I would quit the game period. Not because of being a fanboy of Sony, but because I detest Microsoft and I wont support any product or company in cahoots with them. And that is not why I say it should be on the PS3 either. Simply put, the PS3 is the more capable, powerful console. Regardless of which one you prefer, for games or what ever reason, that is the facts.

Now these are quotes from several people. Just to clear that up. Just to more or less give an overall opionion on what everyone always says about f2pers having ability to post on RSOF. First off, it was mentioned it would only be for higher level players. I agree with this. It would cut out on people that make accounts just to be spamiriffic on the forums. Edit: I would agree with that the probably should have seperate boards though as a lot of the things would be related to f2p, and I can certainly understand p2pers not wanting to have to sift through a bunch of extra stuff they may or may not care about. I suppose on certain boards it would make sense for f2p to be able to post to too though? You say they are bad enough as it is, I agree. Being f2p doesn't mean you are more likely to make any worse of a post than the p2pers. Threre will just be more of them. And even if it is a f2p account, if it is fairly high level, most people are not going to want to risk their account after the time spent on it regardless if they weren't paying such a whopping five dollars a month to play. Maybe it will keep them off fansite forums then. Make your elitist little world a liitle more elite. I hear that [cabbage] thrown around. I get tired of hearing f2pers are too stupid to be able to post. To hell with your elitist bull [cabbage]. Some of us are loaners and I don't really have anyone to post for me. Thats some backwoods inbred [wagon] [cabbage] to say anyways. I don't want friends. Your attitude right there shows me why I wouldn't want to be your friend. Yeah, sorry about the attitude. Don't take it personal. I know this isn't rants. But sometimes people need to hear things how people really feel. Nice gets you no where except some comment like. "Oh hell no, it would be utter chaos if f2p could post". I am sure however I am going to get it anyways. But oh well. So be it. -

Freakin sweet!!! High leveled f2p players may possibly be able to post on RSOF in the future!!! RAWR Combat level 111 on f2p and 1900 skill total. Surely I would qualify? Edit: smellysocks, do we really need cheaper herblore? Some potions are already so cheap it makes me sick. If anything, I would hope it would have the reverse effect at the new increase in demand would surely ensue! -
I am going to take a guess and say Air runes.

I want to subscribe to members AGAIN but....
Imamonkey replied to Fivedaysncounting's topic in Help and Advice
I know one option is Money Orders. Not sure where you live, but I hear Target sells cards with a pin on them for RuneScape subscriptions too! I have used the Money Order method before and it works just fine. They tend to credit them fairly quickly too. I know that I always had members about three days after I would send off a Money Order. -

In Kents summoning guide I believe he suggest Barker Toads? I would still make something I suppose. Experience is experience. And unless you already have more terrorbirds than you will ever possibly use, they are great in my opinion, especially for farming runs. I am sure I will find other fantastic uses for them too. I know other people are using the for other things. I certainly don't think trashing them is your best option. Edit: I understand at your level they are slow, but at least they are cheap!

It will sell, make take a month or two, but it will eventually sell. I had an Obsidian Necklace, not enchanted. I think it took me a couple of months to sell. Boy was I ever glad when I unloaded that junk.

While I am aware you can use mice and keyboards with the PS3, shoot you can run Linux on it. I am trying to figure out if you could even get away from the mouse at least. Using an actual game controller. I guess you probably could, but still seems like the mouse for this game is still a better option for manuevering in the game. And I don't thing Jagex would by any means be trying to "take over" the market. I think there are probably just a whole lot of other issues involved that they would probably rather not deal with, and I am not talking about the issues I hypothesized about earlier. Edit: Things like having to deal with the other companies. As where now, it is Jagex and they deliver through the Internet. No having to deal with Sony or other types of issues such as licensing or whatever. I am sure there are tons of issues that would arise from taking it to this type of platform. I am not up on what those issues would be, but it is easy to see that it would be a whole new ball game where you would have more things and people/companies to deal with in the business world.

Random event npc are conspiring against me
Imamonkey replied to sirlonewolf's topic in General Discussion
I totally agree with this. There are just certain situations you should not get the randoms. Training cooking outside the bank. Okay. But seriously. Then you are fighting some hard monster and you get a random that won't leave you alone, not even talking about the ones that kidnap you, and you have to try and respond to them so you don't get teleported or something meanwhile the monster is hitting you high and making it hard to complete the random all at the same time. I don't have a problem with randoms so much as I do just in certain situations. There are just certain things that really don't seem like to me you have to worry about autoers. Just get smarter with them Jagex! -
With a PS3 I suppose you could always just put Linux on it and play on your tv? Of course you can use a tv as your monitor with any computer. But you can put Linux on your PS3 and have mouse and keyboard. Maybe not exactly what you would call a console version, but a way to play on the tv if you already have the PS3 and don't want to have to bother setting your PC/laptop up with the tv.

Stronghold of Security and Stronghold of Safety are two of the best things to ever happen for f2p in my opinion. We needed more spots to train. Especially for players with higher combat levels. And I play f2p more than members unfortunately. Before what did we have. Lesser Demons was pretty much it. And how painfully slow is that. They are almost always camped out on every single f2p world. Edit: Before Stronghold of Security f2p was in bad need or more training spots period in my opinion.

As far as consoles, it wouldn't be a matter of having updates for multiple consoles. Just make it for only one console. The best console suited to doing this. And that would be a PS3. This is unbiased since I don't own any console games. It is just the truth. The PS3 is best suited for doing something like that. So it could be done just for one console only. And it would make sense to do it for the one most capable of handling it. I love the idea though. It would be the final push needed for me to go ahead an go buy one of those overpriced gadgets. Maybe Jagex and Sony could get together. Could be a beneficial deal for both sides. Then I think of the potential it would possibly have to brining in a ton more players. Then I think, forget that nonsense. We whine about players and their attitudes and the things they say now. Just imagine the potential for this problem exponentially getting worse! Edit: I do love the idea! I also think it is a strong possibility that it would do more harm to the game more than be good for it too. Is it possible that Jagex thinks the same thing and is putting current customer enjoyability over money?

I agree with you on the agility. I have always said it was good skill to train if you don't have members much. But I think 20k natures and 5k laws and some other things are going to be my best bet this go around. I have 71 agility and I can bear that for now. Great advice and thanks for the input. Plan on doing a lot of superheating and always good to get around quick by teleporting. And I want to get my runcrafting up a bit anyway. It is only 66 at the moment. Got a good days worth of alching to do still and it is yew longs, so I have to alch them before I go f2p. And I was thinking of trying to get my mining up some with the time left after all that. Its 75, and I think I may be doing quite a bit of mining coal, adamantite and mith in my next f2p stint, which will probably not be much at all and it is going to be f2p at that. On the plus side have 4k mithril ores already from last f2p stint from cockroaches and some adamantite ores to kick off that part. Have around 20k coal to help get started from a little bit of MTK this time around to so even though I may not be getting to play much at all, when I do I will have some things to keep me busy for a while. Oh yeah, gotta take advantage of my gilded altar too and get my prayer from 68 to 70 before I lose members in about twenty days too. Edit: If I were to pursue this in f2p, what is the opinion on swordfish or lobbies. I am thinking it is probably going to be lobbies. But I could be wrong there.
