  1. Usually an item that has a decent Grand Exchange value, yet something no one is really going to buy. So it is used to balance out trades for items that have a higher street price than Grand Exchange price.
  2. Sweet, and enjoy them. Can anyone clarify for me if they do have any other real advantage over another armour other than being a good armour that would protect you from Bandos minions in GWD, and just for the show off factor. Because to me show off factor is pretty much completely meaningless. As I have been considering Bandos armour purchase myself, if the only real practical application is for protection against Bandos followers it may greatly affect my purchasing decisions.
  3. To my way of thinking, Bandos armours really only practical application is just to have a good armour that protects you from a certain Gods minions while in GWD. And at a pretty hefty price on top of that. Could someone clarify or correct me on this if I am wrong. Edit: I agree with you Compfreak, but at the same time maybe they posted this to help in the fiinancial decision making of OP? Although I realize posts like this tend to mess with you super secret high powered network and lantency and ping times!
  4. I don't know what to tell you, but it works for me. That is where I always do my Troll tasks. Maybe the NPC guys are hitting harder than you so you aren't getting credit for kill?
  5. I use the ones in Yanille. As mentioned, Varrock is a hotspot I suppose. If you are like me and prefer a little more solitude then use the ones in Yanille. If you like lots of people around, use the ones in West Varrock.
  6. I usually do the trolls near Netiznot. You get help from the NPC guys killing them too, and I believe they drop Rune Kites?
  7. I would go with a dragon long over the dragon scimitar. Of course a whip is better if you can afford it. Edit: Dragons are weak to the stab attack, which the long has a better stab attack. While the whip has no stab, its stats are high enough that it is still better than the long. But go with long over scimitar.
  8. I am not good at predicting prices, so I would not take my advice as solid, but... I checked the Grand Exchange last night and in my opinion - they may drop in price eventually, but over the last 30 days they have done nothing but steadily rise in price. If that is any indicator, I personally would say they are probably going to keep slowly rising. But that is just my best guess. I stink at predicting stuff like that.
  9. I see no reason not to melee them unless you just want range experience. I find them pretty easy with melee. But my combat stats were fairly high before I ever became a member. Don't let the name scare you off, they are really not that bad. Just somewhat out of the way. If you have never done them, at least do them once I would say. You don't know unless you try. Don't forget to wear a Witchwood Icon. Besides being highly fashionable it is a must for fighting Cave Horrors. As I said, you should at least try them once if you never have. You may find you like Cave Horrors. I never really minded doing them. They were not one of my favorite tasks, but by no means one I dreaded doing.
  10. My advice is that this is more suited to the General Discussion board.
  11. Don't ask me why? But I know for a fact that money disappears. Just happened to me a few hours ago. Oh, nevermind. I was lying for attention. Edit: I guess the same reason it is different for players. If you die, you will lose all money or stackable items you are holding too.
  12. Not sure, but I think stackable items disappear. I know at least that money disappears if you have money in a beast of burden and the timer runs out. But yes, you would have to have another pouch and summon another beast of burden, and pick up any items off of the ground the other one was holding and place them back in the one you just summoned.
  13. You do have to use the complete set for special, this meaning the weapon too.
  14. Well, good luck to you. Hopefully it will only take you a few days to get it. Seems like more people have it now. It used to seem like it was so special. People were always like man, how did you ever manage. Like it was really hard to get or something. Seemed like people were always thinking it was so hard to get. Even some when I told them it took me three days to do it would act like I must be insanely patient or something. I mean what the cabbagety cabbaging kinda cabbage is that? People spend days on end training this or that skill then act like I was crazy for spending three days on lumberjack. RS players really are goofy. I think it is a pre-requisite to play! Anyways, good luck to ya again man. Nothing like being a burly lumberjack. :P Edit: It took me a while to realize what you were meaning by easy and the routes. Been so long since I did it. I mostly took route one. I took two and sometimes three. Most of my drops came from the first route though which I believe is the longest route but less likelyhood of events, or is it more likely? And Seems like I mostly took the chick with me in Burgh De Rott, and coming from Pasterdomus if I remember correctly I mostly brought the guy in plate armour. I did switch up who I brought every now and then for giggles though. You'll figure it out pretty quickly. It really isn't as hard as most make it out to be. You get used to dealing with situations just like any other thing in the game. Pretty much like everything else in RS. Just have to be patient. As you play it more too, you will learn how to position yourself to keep the person you are escorting from getting attacked as much too.
  15. Okay then. Say I forgo the DFS and decide to go with SGS. I do eventually want to get Bandos armour too. Would you suggest getting SGS or Bandos armor first. I do already have SS if that would have any bearing on the decision. Armadyl is nice, but I am more of a melee guy than a ranger, so Armadyl armour can wait. Edit: I wear rune when it is plenty good for the task. Makes no sense to me to pay for degrading costs even though I can afford it, especially repairing it in my POH. As I have stated, I am a sensible player, I try to make cost effective decisions. I guess you could say I am a tightwad. But I don't wear something just because I can or to impress other players. If I can get the job done just as effectively and save a few pennies, then that is what I use/do. Yes, I have been called a noob plenty of times wearing rune. But hey, that's their demon to deal with, not mine. I personally find it silly when I see someone training in torags or some other barrows outfit when they clearly don't need it, but I guess that is my demon.
  16. FFS, thats all I have been doing the last several weeks. And some farming on the side. Body was the last piece I got. Once I got it, I never did it again. I have two or three pairs of boots and hat. I think I only have one pair of britches? If you have the patience to woodcut that long, you have the patience to get full lumberjack. When I set out to get mine, it is all I did till I got full. No diversions. It seemed like I would never get it, but it only took me three days. As it did according to the person I asked about theirs the other day.
  17. Would you mind explaining a little why Rune defender is > than DFS. (I do have defender by the way) Is the attack bonus really that much better than the awesome defense of the DFS? Also, having that much more defense especially when fighting dragons seems like a nice added bonus. Especially since I don't pray on blue iron or steel dragons. I find sharks more effective than praying and using prayer pots, at least in my mind, seeing as how I get full inventory of drops using sharks anyway. Even though I can make my own prayer pots, sharks are cheaper than prayer pots, and why waste them when you get full inventory using food? And that is using Rune armour. No degrading barrows or fancy smancy high dollar armour.
  18. I got most of mine on the easy path. I believe I got the top on medium path. I always have people asking me about it, so the other day I asked someone who had full on and they told me they got all thiers on the easy path. They also told me it took them three days to get full which is what it took me to get full lumberjack. I could be wrong, but I don't really think taking a harder path increases your chances of the drops? Edit: I have had my lumberjack for about a year now, so I don't remember the full details of it all. But I do know the only way to get the drops is from the zombies that come out of the water when you have to repair the bridge. So always fight them when you get them.
  19. So it is better to wear the Netiznot helm over the Slayer helmet with the Salve on Abberant Spectres on a Slayer task? Edit: I forgot about having to have the nose peg. Been a while since I have done any combat or Slayer training. So I guess the Netiznot is out.
  20. I don't do pvp, so I guess that kicks that expensive bad boy out. I am probably going to be concentrating on Slayer mostly, so Saradomin God Sword is looking good. I am assuming you mean Zamorak God Sword for Castle Wars as a first choice, then a Saradomin God Sword for a second choice. I don't do Castle Wars either, so that can help narrow it down. Then I guess you mean Bandos God Sword is a cheaper slightly less effective version of Armadyl God Sword? Since I would mostly be doing Slayer more than likely, and more than likely a little God Wars Dungeon action, still leaves Saradomin looking good I suppose? I was more or less leaning towards the Dragonfire Shield though and whip for Slayer, and thinking it could also be used in God Wars effectively. I don't mind waiting and saving for the God Sword, but at the same time if I can get by with all around effectiveness at a cheaper cost, I am all for it. I am far from a wow factor player. All around effectiveness is more important to me than impressing other players with expensive, although awesome items. I suppose my main question is. Is saving for a God Sword going to be the better decision. I am thinking the shield is the better choice just for all around play and effectiveness and the sword could come later. As I mentioned. Wowing other players is the least of my purchasing concerns. Edit: Well, while competing for yews and trying to type this post, a few replies were made. Thank you everyone for your input. I think I will go with the shield, especially since I already do have the Saradomin Sword and whip. And I have seen in a lot of guides where the Saradomin Sword is actually suggested over God Swords anyway. Thank you, I was leaning towards that and you all just confirmed what I was kind of thinking.
  21. The mining iron idea to get money up to start merchanting is a good idea I suppose. You could mine clay too. You won't get the minining experience you would from iron, but it sells for as much as iron and will be quicker. If you make it into soft clay it sells for about twice as much. I personally wouldn't have the patience for that. I would just mine it and sell as is. Seriously. I don't think the first reply was meant to be as harsh as it sounded? But can't you kids drop it and quit turning this thread into a flame fest. I don't always post the best responses. As said, this is for help and advice. Let's quit trying to hijack peoples threads and stay on topic if we can. I know I don't like looking for answers to my questions only to find it is an ongoing argument, nothing but flames and hijacks. - There is no need to respond to this justifying your flames and hijacks. Just stop it.
  22. I was thinking of going the monkfish route myself, but my cooking is already 94 at the moment. I am not sure what level you stop burning since I was 92 when I came back to p2p. Got a lot of experience on f2p with anchovy pizza and lobs. I do know I haven't burned any from 92 to 94. 99 cooking is not a real high priority for me, but I plan on getting it fairly soon. My plan was to catch about a third of the monks I would need, sell them, buy more with the money from that. Cook those and sell and buy raw till I get 99. It would be a small loss. At least I think it is a small loss. (opinions may vary) But faster than fishing them all myself and getting some well needed fishing experience since my fishing is only 88. Don't think that is the answer you were exactly looking for, but I thought I would throw it in the mix. Might possibly be a method you might be interested in applying.
  23. I know this question has probably been asked hundreds of time on this board, but here it goes again. I have enough money saved up for anti-fire shield. I already have a Saradomin sword and all the Barrows equipment I care for. Should I get the anti-fire shield or save up for a God sword. And if God sword which one is the best all around. I don't care if your opinion is based on which one looks raddest or this one will impress other players more cause it costs more. I could truly care less about all that. I want what is gonna be best all around. Or should I get some Bandos or Armadyl equipment. As far as combat, when I do start working on it again, I plan on doing Slayer and maybe do some fighting at God Wars Dungeon which by the way I have never done, but definitely have the stats to do it. I may be doing some Aviansie killing to which I also have never done. Once again, my stats are good to go on that. I hope this helps on which is gonna be better priority wise. Thanks for any help, greatly appreciated.
  24. So would you say broad bolts are better than adamantite? Or are they just cheaper?
  25. Don't know your stats so I can't say how much food you would need? But I always train combat at cockroach soldiers when I am f2p. They drop rune scimitars and mithril and addy ores noted. If they are to tough, you could train on cockroach workers. Soldiers also drop law runes and workers drop nature runes. I am assuming it is still the case, I don't even bother going there anymore to see, but lessers on f2p are always too crowded for my taste. Not much experience when you have to wait around for monsters to spawn. And in my opinion are less profitable than cockroach soldiers and workers.
