  1. I've figured that if my ashes get scattered over the ocean at least half of me becomes fish food. I'd rather end up as fish food than maggot munch.
  2. No comment
  3. I saw that on the news today :( poor people... I'm not going to jump to any conclusions yet there's nothing to say the truck driver didn't have something go wrong or his breaks failed or anything at the wheel at the time... Just going to play it by ear until more details are revealed.
  4. Goddess, you seem like a good person to ask. Would you be annoyed if men were no longer allowed to expose their chests in public (specifically those with washboard abs and stuff)? If you see an attractive man sporting his 'sexy' chest, do you turn your head and look? If I walk around without a shirt I don't fear I'm going to get raped because people have restraint. If they don't, there's obviously something wrong with them. People who think an attractive chest warrants [assault] are going to [assault] people, shirt or no shirt. I've yet to see a convincing reason why women shouldn't be allowed to go topless whenever they feel like it. haha personally I don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t like men who show off their body. I dig the average Joe and think intellect is more attractive than physical appearance. I'm probably not the best person to ask.
  5. No, stupid people shouldn't be told they're stupid. Stupid people should be made smarter. Never was much of a teacher, either. Some people are also beyond saving. :P You're going to get fat from those carbs you ate :P
  6. I think you should be talking about this to your wife rather than us.
  7. That's very good advice, my grades were excellent the second I made a couple of post-grad and doctorate friends in the field.
  8. I'm happy to walk around topless if it was socially accpetable.
  9. Heh, me too. I also: Just found out about a cool band that I didn't know about, Over the last 2 months or so I've learnt and managed to keep in my head 12 tool songs (guitar). :P And... It's been raining in Brisbane! OMG double-you-tee-eff is this wet stuff falling from the sky? Lol. =P~ (there's been a drought over the last few years here) Totally I've been laying in my nice warm bed watching dvds with all this extra time. The rain is beautiful.
  10. Meditation works for some but not others. Fortunately it worked for me too.
  11. I think the best advice my dad ever gave me was make sure every day you have at least 20 mins of you time. May that be walking the dog, watching cartoons you like with no distractions, be alone with your thoughts, lay in a nice warm bed, play an instrument etc. Sometimes we make ourselves so busy that we wonder why our thoughts conflict and get us down.
  12. That job isn't your life. If it's stressing you out, making you tired and in irritable moods, leave it. Make sure you have a new job to go to before you leave. You should ask yourself if there are ways you can make it better for yourself before you consider this an option though. When things make you depressed, they don't have to be that way. Knock down the wall and find another option.
  13. I bet it makes the Mrs happy
  14. Good things......good things... Hm.... Have 4 final exams next week then 2 months holidays. Extra hours in the holidays arranged so I get closer to the money I'm saving for that ducati :P My ex-partner and I are sorting out our differences and at the moment it seems like we can make things work. That's the main things at the moment that are making me happy.
  15. University can be extremely difficult at times. But isn't it so worth it? :D
  16. Quite contradicting. ----- I don't know what I believe personally but I'm not too phased to hear other peoples ideas whether I agree with them or not.
  17. I believe the topic of this thread was not attack someone's beliefs without answering the main purpose of this thread.
  18. I hope that's a good thing :-k :P
  19. Write songs to cheer yourself up, even write songs about how much you didn't like your guitarist and lead singer leaving your band :P (better to get it out on paper than something worse). You can then stand back and admire something your frustrations have created. Put yourself in situations to get a better lead singer and a better guitarist. Put some ads in the newspaper, put some fliers in your neighbourhood letter boxes, write an ad in your high school magazine or newsletter, put it on advertisement boards, and ask people if they know anyone. If you love someone let them go, if they love you too they'll come back to you. Be there for her as her friend and talk to her about any family problems she might be having, she may really need someone to talk to about it and you can still talk to her as a friend about the things that are upsetting you. Keep yourself busy for a while, go rent a whole pile of funny movies or cartoon series and have some 'you time'. Ask your friends to go to the movies with you, go out for the day, go over there and spend time with them. It's going to hurt for a while but I promise in time you will be like "insert her name here" who?? "Oh that girl" you could probably even laugh in the future and say how silly it was. That happens to the best of us sometimes. They're only car tires, they're a piece of rubber, nothing compared to the value of your life. I think the only thing you can do is probably laugh at the situation because pathetic kids or adults had to commit to something so low as to entertain them, you come from a better family with better morals than that so smile. If you're really worried about the cost of the tires, do a lovely gesture and maybe get a part time job or ask for extra hours and help your mum pay for some new tires, how amazing would that be? You would both feel awesome. There are children born every minute in 3rd world countries, people who don't have a mum or a dad, people in wheel chairs, people born with disabilities, mental health issues, live in poverty, don't have a roof over their head, don't have a warm bed to sleep in at night, in fact never even heard about what a bed is or even seen one before. You live in a country that allows you to drink disease-free water, the luxury of having a hot shower, you have access to the internet, and some parts of the world don't even know what that is. There are a billion kids who would swap their life for yours in the blink of an eye lid. Be grateful for what you have and grow where you were planted. If I were to give people one clue as to how to achieve true happiness, it would be this: Find something you would die for, and live for that. Open up Microsoft word; write a list of all the things you are grateful for in your life. Then write a list of all the things you want to achieve in your life. Find pictures and stick it around make it look pretty etc Print it out and put it on your mirror or your door or your wall. Each morning when you wake, remind yourself why you are grateful and remind yourself what you're here to achieve. Personally, I'll let you in on a little secret. I have a photo of a canary yellow ducati motorbike sitting on my mirror, each morning I wake, I know what I'm saving my money for.
  20. What a wonderful post Striker, after all the depressing posts we've seen I think your idea was a fantastic one to make other people feel good, way to go, respect. I couldn't name a favourite I like everyone equally even if I don't see eye to eye with them. "Don't judge me tomorrow by the way I'm acting today". I take that into consideration with everybody :D
  21. I'll find out when it happens for now, i dont give a hoot.
  22. That is beautiful I love hearing about good deeds like that. It made me smile :D
  23. I can give you some pretty good titles if you want some names :P Don't read them at night time, read them during the day and follow up with a fun activity. Listen to some good music before bed, or watch a funny movie, play a computer game, anything really Just don't read then go to bed and think about it. If you do need to think about it, don't think about it in your bed.
  24. OMG  I hate them! My little brother and I went to the park one day when I was about 12 and he thought he'd show me some brotherly love by throwing a 'worm' down the back of my dress. I screamed and then screamed even more when i realised this 'worm' had a pair of 2 black eyes it was a baby snake! :wall: Then another time we had our new home built in a new area (it used to be bushland) and a snake came in under the garage door and into the lounge room. I grabbed the shovel and started hacking at the bloody thing!
  25. I really couldn't say, it depends on what country he lives in. I know in Australia you can get free consultations if recommended by your GP. Some GP's write out a letter to your local psychologist and have it bulk billed through them personally. As harsh as that sounds I have to agree with you. Sometimes people don't know what they have until it's gone. My ex partner's mum had bipolar disorder and became an alcoholic, it took his dad and his brothers to throw her out of the house and say you're out of our lives until you can get yourself clean. Luckily she loved her family so much and got herself clean; she now doesn't drink, even on special occasions. They need to find out whether there is other motives behind his obsessive drinking, such as a disorder, whether he trying to escape problems he hasn' t talked about etc In my example, they only found out that their mother was a bipolar sufferer, through her obsessive drinking and telling her to get help. I'm not saying it's the case but could be worth checking. However, in all, it does seem like your father is trying to escape some sort of problem in his life.
