Any Christians - Need Help Regarding Christmas Trees
Many Christian holidays/symbols were once pagan holidays/symbols. This is because Christians were using syncretism to help newer believers feel comfortable about converting. As a Christian, I don't see anything wrong with Christmas trees at all - just because pagans use it doesn't mean it's wrong for us to use it. Isn't it kind of like saying, because pagans breathe, Christians shouldn't breathe either?

YOUR opinion on (Soft/Hard-) Drugs
I think drugs should be made legal/illegal based on their addictiveness. Thus, I think cigarettes should be illegal.

I just need some advice..
Your mom is going through all this hassle because she wants you to be happy, and thinks this will contribute. If this won't make you happy, then I'm guessing she will be fine with you not doing it.

Co-Ed sleep over?
I'm kind of like that. When I was young my parents always teased me about having a girl friend and so I stayed away from girls until I hit puberty. Now I'm in high school and I have trouble just being friends with girls. I'd never really had any friends that were girls and now I've got girls that are actually asking me out.. Though I've turned them down because I'm with the girl of my dreams. But all the same, I have a hard time not wanting to be more than friends with a girl. I'm slowly getting over it, but I've got a ways to go.. Exactly. I've had to come to the point where, before I'll even start talking to a girl I've never met before, I just need to tell myself "nothing will ever happen between the two of you". Funny how we're similar that way - I never started getting over it until girls started asking me out, or flirting hardcore. So yea, it's a long way coming, but I've also come a long way.

Responsibility
My parents think I'm responsible. If I had to guess as to why, it started since I was young. I realized that whenever I tried to go to bed later than my bedtime, I'd get punished and my bedtime would be moved earlier. So, I thought - I'll just keep going to bed on time and my bedtime will keep getting pushed later. Victory was mine! I had a late bedtime and when it came time for me to drive, I had a late curfew. Before the end of highschool I had my curfew lifted and I could come and go as I pleased. So yes, my 'rents think I'm responsible. Can't say the same for my brother though :P

Co-Ed sleep over?
Amazingly, I've been able to do the same feat since childhood without giving religion a second thought 8-) I just don't get it, why can't people be friends regardless of gender? I know I can switch my brains into the 'friend' mode if I want to, I bet most people can. Maybe 1/3 of my best friends are female and talking about the issue of sleepovers, I don't see it as any different than having a sleepover with only guys. I think it depends how you are brought up. For instance, if a guy has alot of sisters, then it's going to be natural for him to turn on "friend" mode, in fact, that will most likely be the first "mode" so to speak. I haven't got a sister, and whenever I'd ever talk about a girl at school my friends/brother would always make a huge deal of it so I learnt to shut up and kind of distance myself from females as a young kid. Later on in life, it's hard to get around that, you know? Of course I've moved on now, but it definitely was an issue in high school for me.

Eternity rings?
Yea, that's why I think promise ring is a more popular term for the item. Is this what you mean?

Co-Ed sleep over?
As a Christian conservative, I say go for it! I've slept in the same bed as my female friends before and nothing (sexual) came of it, because we both know our moral convictions etc. It's just a fun way to bond and get to know each other better. Go for it, just don't do anything you'll regret.

Everyman's Right
Yes, I hope to go to Scotland and take advantage of this right. Maybe this summer, maybe after I get my BSc. I just know that there's nothing I'd rather do than travel around for a few weeks and making camp each night at a different ruin.

Everyman's Right
Not anymore. I learnt enough to communicate with my friend's little brother (he was 5) while I was there, but I lost it immediately on return.

Everyman's Right
Last summer I went on a small vacation (~2-3weeks) to Sweden to visit a friend (I'm Canadian). That's not the point, but it has some relevance, in that while I was there, my friend's father told me about this interesting law the Swedish have called Everyman's Right. Basically you can camp out anywhere public (and sometimes private), for one night, no questions asked, as long as you don't disturb anyone on their private property/destroy anything. I kind of forgot about it, I mean, it was a busy day. Then tonight I was walking home from school (~8:30pm), and tonight was incredible. Stars were out, it was crisp, cool, clean air, and I had a sudden urge to go on an adventure. And I know it sounds lame, and I have no idea where it came from, but it was, and still is there. Everyman's law came flying back into my mind. Reading up on it makes this all possible, assuming it happens in a country which upholds Everyman's right. There are five countries listed in the wikipedia article (Sweden, Scotland, Finland, Iceland, Norway), and my friends and I would love to backpack the countryside in Scotland. Sweden has an excellent information page on this. But, part of the reason I am posting this, is if anyone would aid me in finding a similar site on Scotland; a simple search found no results and I'd really like to know the extent that this right is upheld in Scotland before delving further into this endeavour.

PHP Trouble
PHP supports both || and using the actual word. I'm too noob at PHP to really figure out what's going on with your script by just looking at it. :x w3schools needs to add that in :P they just say || is the or function.

A rich family materially is often a poor family in every other way.

PHP Trouble
I don't know much about PHP, but if(get_one_letter($str, $x) == "0" or get_one_letter($str, $x) == "1" or get_one_letter($str, $x) == "2" or get_one_letter($str, $x) == "3" or get_one_letter($str, $x) == "4" or get_one_letter($str, $x) == "5" or get_one_letter($str, $x) == "6" or get_one_letter($str, $x) == "7" or get_one_letter($str, $x) == "8" or get_one_letter($str, $x) == "9" or get_one_letter($str, $x) == ",") Isn't the 'or' syntax '||', and not 'or'?

New Forum Idea - Polls!
Yes exactly. We removed polls because when people can click a button to enter their opinion they usually feel they don't need to say anything else. That's usually followed by a bunch of one-liner posts that really don't contribute to any kind of productive discussion.

Depression...
You can completely ignore this advice if you want, but I would suggest laying off the depressing music. I can't see it doing anything other than contributing to the problem.

annoying things about your family
My dad is extremely formal. I am extremely unformal. This leads to me trying to escape the house without him saying goodbye, and trying to sneak in without him saying hello.
