Waste of money vs. best spent money
Best spent: My lappy, Halo2 (houuuuurs of good times with friends), my education, and this coat I just bought for $60 (CAD) that looks incredible, has a fur (not real fur :P) inlay - it keeps you warm like a winter coat but looks like a stylish fall.... thing. Worst spent: Can't think of anything to be honest - maybe a few CDs I took a chance on and lost, but nothing big. I'm pretty careful with my money.

mcdonalds monopoly game? real or fake?
Once a week I go to McD's with a friend because we have night classes and they offer cheap deals for local university students. We always fill every hotel set except for the one you need to actually complete it.

The Trailer Park Boys Movie is forced into nude scene
Link What do you think? Does a comedy need to have nudity in it? Is comedy really coming to a point where something isn't funny unless some 13-year-old kid can get insert censored word off of it?

Fairness
I'm one that always locks, and never moves. Ever. I don't want to give the users the impression that they can post wherever the hell they want and get their topic moved to the correct location by a staff member. @shadowfax; I never edit posts, but when I split off a reply, it's either a large group of spam replies, or it is dealt with with a warning to the poster or a ban to the poster.

"Jesus Camp"
Not really, but I wasn't the one who posted that the majority of scientists were religious and that it is evidence that we can't live in a world without a strong belief in religion. A scientist's opinion is just as relevant as anyone else̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s opinion on anything. However it might be useful to find out why there are some populations of people who believe in something much less or much more then average. In doing so you might gain some insight, which might have otherwise never been found. Maybe it will spark new way of thinking about religion and its value to society. Yes for sure, I meant my post to apply both to your post and the one you quoted.

Careful driving does NOT pay off...
Insurance companies around where I live take teenagers for everything they've got, and more. I can't stand it. If you're under 24 in Ontario, and have an accident on your record, quite a few insurance companies won't even insure you. The rest will put you at $10 000/yr.

"Jesus Camp"
Hah, I agree with you (for once). Is it really relevant what people who study natural things for a living think about a supernatural thing?

"Jesus Camp"
Science and A Higher Power have nothing to do with each other This coming from the person that believes science disproves God... ON TOPIC: As a Christian, the trailer intrigues me. I kind of want to see it, but I kind of don't. Seeing it wouldn't really enlighten me, it would kind of just... embarrass me in a sense. But it would be interesting.

NHL season
Bear in mind Raycroft was playing injured last year, and has played stellar thusfar in the new season. I'm a Leafs fan, I'm not ashamed to admit it :D Although to be honest, I'm more of a single player fan than a team fan - I like to see players like Spezza, Tucker, and Crosby excel more than I like to see teams excel.

Why do scientists believe the Big Bang created the world?
Actually, I'd trust scientific advise on how to life a good and healthy life both physically and mentally any day over some old scripture that told people how to live well 2000 or more years ago. But that's just me. For example, the Bible does contain lots of good advise and common sense anybody should be able to figure out, such as the 10 commandments. It's not scientific but it's a very respectable (even if not fully practised by even nearly all christians) code of ethics. Yea, I worded that wrong. My point was, science can only really change our circumstance - whereas Judaism/Christianity is full of things that will help us deal with our circumstances internally which will end up improving things.

Why do scientists believe the Big Bang created the world?
The last part after the comma didn't make any sense. But anyways, don't you think, that if someone could walk on water, it would be... the person who created water? Because Christianity/Judaism wasn't "created" to explain scientific phenomena. It was created to tell us how to live. Something science can never do. "Or whatever it is". Before you start quoting the Bible, read something in it. And no, they do not conflict with each other. I love how everyone thinks the point of the Bible is to explain science, when that is not what it is for. If you read the Bible like a science textbook, you're going to be just as disappointed as if you read a science textbook for relationship advice. Those would be religious people in the same boat as you - reading the Bible looking for knowledge it doesn't contain. See above. You know nothing about the Bible, so therefore you know nothing about the point of the Bible. If He thought He was the Son of God, and He was wrong, then He would have to be crazy. Read the Gospels - He definitely wasn't crazy. And of course it has never been scientifically proven that miracles happened. Miracles are supernatural, science only explains the natural. Science will never be able to explain a miracle, that's why they're called "miracles". Except the religions today aren't trying to explain natural phenomena. Again, see this point repeated 3 times above. You believe there is no God because religion doesn't explain the creation story? You've really missed the point.

How come you registered at Tip.it?
So eight months ago? Heh, get it... 3/4 and in three-fourths... heh heh. Like pretty much everyone else said, because of Runescape, but have since quit and just come here for OT and M&M. EDIT: 3/4 of a year is 9 months, I am an idiot. :D I noticed that after I posted, but thought "nah, nobody's going to quote that and make fun of me" :P

Programming a game (egads he must be insane!!)
Java is probably a better learning tool - that way you get "pure" Object oriented programming engrained into your head, since that seems to be the way of the future.
-
Programming a game (egads he must be insane!!)
For starters, maybe you could write a simple algorithm that verifies that a sudoku has been completed properly. That will give you practice with arrays and parameter passing. As for game making - for starters, get a really good grip on classes and what they do. That way, before you start actually coding the bulk of your program, you could do simple grunt work like creating character classes that will get you used to the easy stuff.

Programming a game (egads he must be insane!!)
Java GUI is just ugh. And make sure you are absolutely sure you've got the concept of object orientation perfectly understood in your mind before attempting a large project - it is pivotal (assuming you use an OO language, which you should).

Don't use Java. I'd suggest C++.

Why do scientists believe the Big Bang created the world?
I'll do my best to shed some light on these questions. In philosophy of creation, there are what is known as contingent beings, and a necessary being. All contingent beings come from the necessary being - thus the necessary being is uncreated. There has to be a necessary being - an infinite regress of contingent beings is logically/mathematically/theoretically impossible (and no, Xeno's paradoxes and set theory doesn't refute the fact that an infinite regress is impossible - since in Xeno's paradoxes you are travelling from one finite number to another finite number - in this situation you are travelling from a finite number to a negative infinite number). It all boils down to what you believe is the most logical necessary being - I personally believe that inanimate matter is an insufficient necessary being (for many reasons), and that leaves me with an animate being, or God. A God existing doesn't necessarily have to have followed the literal Genesis account of creation - a God isn't restricted to have created in six days.
