I figured a philosophy major such as yourself would not be prone to asking loaded questions. I can't subject myself to answering such a fallacious question, ergo I won't.

Yes, I made an assumption that you couldn't back up your statement that the majority of the world hates George W. Since you didn't provide the statistic in your reply, I'm guessing you don't have one, and cannot prove your assumption. Sure, I can't prove mine, but at least you didn't make my assumption look incorrect.

1.) Not everyone here is American. 2.) You are just a former colony of the British empire, you fought a war for tea, or independence as you call it. Your amendments were drawn up by a bunch of traitors and backstabbers. 3.) Anybody with the slightest hint of a brain would have noticed that the majority of people in this world hate George Bush, many people also want him dead. Just because some dumb femaleteenager was trying to be cool doesn't mean the President was ever going to be in any danger. A leader should be strong and prove he is worthy of his post, cowering a way from a 14 year old girl that might 'assassinate him' is quite hilarious if you think about it. The majority of people in the world eh. Got any statistics, or are you going by the opinions of your politically uneducated highschool friends? Lately it's the "cool thing" to hate George Bush, but really, tons of people have no idea what they're talking about.

Is it just me, or is threatening the life of your president "totally inappropriate"? In my eyes, if you break laws, you forfeit corresponding rights.
  5. Try $14 trillion, bud. A nation that isn't in debt probably has a dictator in charge. The fun thing is, if we ever paid off all that debt, the value of currency worldwide would plummet and all nations would go back into debt. Over $8 trillion of our debt is owned by foreign nations :P. I thought we had a surplus while President Clinton was president? Maybe I'm wrong, I just remember hearing that. Either way, if you link dictatorship/fascism to having more money, I would think we'd be doing better, since under Bush's reign, he's been heading the country closer and closer to a fascist state. ( http://scienceblogs.com/evolvingthought ... on_fas.php ) Canada has surplusses every year - they go to paying off the debt :P

So you're saying people deserve to be yelled at/thrown in jail for expressing their political views? She wasn't making a death threat against him, only expressing what she felt (or being that she was young, what her parents felt). Communism ftw? Her opinion was "kill Bush". That is a death threat. So because girls cry we should never discipline them?

May I add "lifestyle decisions that don't harm others", to the end of your quote, so the person who eats children as a lifestyle decision doesn't sneak their way into an upcoming post? :P

Pasta is fairly easy and common for a date meal.

Worked on a fruit orchard farm - it's not worth it. Just apply at a local greenhouse - the work sucks, but it's consistent and you usually get good pay. If you've got a friend that needs a job, apply together so you can keep each other company. Before you actually get a career, I wouldn't make alot of effort to get the "dream job" that doesn't actually exist.
  10. So you expect the government to let us do whatever we want and then spend money to fix us when we abuse it? The thing is, you have to deal with problems directly. "Cars cause a lot of accidents, so let's ban all cars!" is not an effective solution. It's a different solution though. Getting in car accidents is not addictive :P in that situation, the problem lies solely with the people. In a situation such as drugs, there are properties within the drugs themselves that are the problem. With gambling it's sort of a grey area as to whether or not the problem lies solely with the individual or not.

  12. I think five is fine. Why would you need 7 different links in your signature? Honestly, there's nothing uglier (on this forum) than a signature stocked full of quotes and links. I just don't see the point.
  13. As opposed to what, "pretend" poker? There's plenty of examples of people who've made silly amounts of money from playing internet poker, and the biggest reason it's "dangerous" is the same reasons "RL-poker" is, not because it makes people overestimate their own abilities. Well, not overestimate their own abilities more than a RL poker game requires anyway. I think he was just saying that real life poker has a totally different dynamic than internet poker. Ever seen the movie rounders? Matt Damon calls every person's hand at a table based on their facial expressions/the way they act. Of course it's a fictional movie but really good poker players are able to read other players - on the internet, a really good real life poker player doesn't have that ability any more, and has to make a call based on cards alone.
  14. Ukranian/Russian/German/Canadian.
  15. Any more stupid replies and you get banned or something (keyword - or something). Congratulations PDJ :D bank pic please ? ;)
  16. I think I can get something together as long as the deadline is after the 20th :D (million things due that day)
  17. I can't stand any of the new album. Every song is identical. That sums up the RHCP to me.
  18. The first time I used it there were like 3 really "out there" songs out of 20. The rest were pretty close.
  19. I googled the first sentence and came up with cheathouse.com - essays with works cited :D Me as well. Two major comp sci assignments and a comp sci midterm.
  20. Looks cool, I'll check it out and update back :)

It was 10 degrees at 1pm today - at 2pm, it was snowing. Go southern Ontario! :D Winter/late autumn gives me weird nostalgic feelings, I can't really describe it.
  22. Have you tried calling the phone?
  23. That must be so annoying. You know you're a millionaire, but you really aren't, and you'll have to wait for 20 years to get the full sum. During tha time you could get bored and spend your annual 'pension'... You could totally live off of that though. Of course it would be nice to take the lump sum and collect mass amounts of interest off of it, but this way you can't blow it all on some stupid impulse buy.
  24. If they know about it, it's just as easy as finding any other file. That's if they know about it. You could do this and just bank on the fact that they have no idea what you did or how to fix it.
  25. Hahah yea, a certain TIF user sent me like 100 in the mail :P didn't win.
