Almost Got Scammed? Want To Tell Your Story? Post It Here!
someone_els replied to The_Sith's topic in General Discussion
On two occasions, I have been harassed by someone claiming to be a Jagex mod, boasting a screen name that might fool an inexperienced player. I humored them both for a minute or two. One of them was offering me a choice between two new weapons: the "Iban blade" or the "Twin Blades". The other was less creative, and just wanted to offer me free membership :shame: -
Where would you be with out tip.it?

I'd still be struggling with Ernest the Chicken  -
Incredible. Truly amazing. You are a phenomenal economist. I wish I could have developed some kind of economic savvy so soon after I joined in September of '04, maybe I'd have some kind of rare in my bank by now.

Maybe needles are stackable for the same reason mysterious boxes appear stackable but really aren't. Which I also don't know. Or perhaps it was planned to have needles randomly break, which would meant it would be convenient to hold several needles at a time, but the code was never implemented for some reason or another.

My spirit tree seed. When I picked it out of the nest I thought I must have been the luckiest player in the world. I'm really not sure if its that rare though. I carry it around with me sometimes, and it's one of my few member items I allow to burn a hole in my now minuscule bank account.

Question: Least-Admirable Skill Cape
someone_els replied to Lunar_Drifter's topic in General Discussion
But Firemaking is pure grinding. Smithing at least has a make 5 or 10 option. Don't you think that kind of effort stands out a little? -
Serum 207 is inexpensive to make but won't get you any money back. If you've already done every possible quest with a herblore reward and possibly tears of guthix too, you might also be able to make and sell strength potions that can be sold on free servers to get a little bit of money back. I never trained this way, so I can't say much about it.
-
I did this quest at a combat level of 70. I think you're more than competent to kill a demon three times and take on a few ghosts. Just don't forget your prayer potions and food
-
I'm pretty sure the 50 agility and thieving is a prerequisite, but you can use the greenman's ale as far as I know. I strongly recommend you get them all up anyway, because inventory space is precious. If you can't stand the Barbarian agility course, take a summer pie (+5 agility) up to the wilderness course (extremely fast training) along with some agility potions so your agility is always at 49. For theiving, I believe I pickpocketted fremmenniks, and made Serum 207 (very cheap) for herblore. Good luck with the quest anyway!

If you don't mind sitting there for a very long time, you might be able to get away with a cheap spell like Fire Strike
-
Same for me, plus it goes well with pretty much anything. Not too expensive either.

Ditto. Shame I'm F2p now... world 16 is my only ray of hope :(

I used to collect Chef Hats, but my efforts were very passive. I managed to get 16 or so before POH shelves discouraged me.

When you started, which skill was released first?

:( I guess I have to go with the majority here, slayer. At least I have a yo-yo to prove it :D I do know someone who was around before fishing, but his memory of those times isn't too great. -
I had a very peculiar dream some several months ago. I was at a party on a cruise ship at night. Everyone, my friends, family, and people I see everyday was there. I noticed a blue partyhat on a small table next to me: It was more like a strip of a partyhat, like you would see if it were on the ground in RS. When I picked it up, it wasn't even the size of my palm. For whatever reason, I decided to stuff it in my mouth for safe keeping. Needless to say I felt shreds of paper in my mouth soon after. After that scene, I was along some kind of waterfront that reminds me of san francisco. The rest of the dream had no reference to Runescape, but at one point I was in Build Mode like the Sims.

Don't sweat it, you may even be able to survive melee'ing the demon if you have adequate food and equipment, but if you're feeling to confident even your mage and range levels will be enough to slaughter him from the safe spot. Prayer is essential for most other quests though, so if you get the chance definitely try to get those last three prayer levels ASAP.

The below coming from the mouth of a former abyss runner and completely inexperienced pker: I'm dissatisfied with the limited opportunity to pk solo in the wilderness. Pking multiway combat should only be encouraged in the higher levels and only be motivated by group vs. group combat, not pile jumping. Aggressive monsters ought to lay off in non-multiway combat. In regards to teleportation, I think people looking to make a run for it should have some sort of delay when casting teleport spells: similar to the delay of the Home Port spell, but with milder restrictions. Instead of huge, dead forests blocking the flight path of pkers, more maze-like areas should be implemented. Not quite like the Lava maze, but with doors or some kind of temporary obstacles. This goes without saying: Randoms, OUT of the wilderness.

Wow, I wonder if this was ever abused?

If you cant use 0000, it is 9998  Actually, if 0000 was the only combination not allowed, then there wold be 9999 combinations. But I'm pretty sure that repeating number combinations such as 5555 and consecutive numbers like 1234 are not allowed either, so it's still a few less than 9999. As for my pointless fact: If you try to enter the Mage Arena at less than 60 magic, your feet will get wet. Kolodion can tell if you're under the influence of a Wizard's Mind Bomb. -
Tip.It Times Presents: Jagex and Emergent Gameplay
someone_els replied to Kiara_Kat's topic in General Discussion
Runescape is still very young. The ideas behind WoW preceded its MMO counterpart by a decade or more, and was represented in several different mediums. And as the author mentioned, Runescape sacrifices much of its potential content for incredible convenience. -
I'd just about throw away my bank to play RSC again, but what happened to the worry of autoers?
-
For years Runescape has been transitioning from a home-run MMO with a tiny client base into a worldwide gaming phenomenon. Bumps will be hit, pieces will chip off, but in the end Jagex should have everything cemented over.

Is rc pking all that bad? how to escape rc pkers?
someone_els replied to mrmyk's topic in General Discussion
What benefit to inflation? nat prices have barely changed in 5 years, 200 in rsc, 300 now. Nats hit 300 gp long before the abyss existed, dont ever think that you and every rcer will ever out supply the demand for natures. For every 1 rcer making nats there is 4 or 5 people alching there way to 85-99 mage. I don't mean inflation in regards to the price of a nature rune: I do mean the quantity of nature runes available for alching. An abyss free of pkers would make crafting nature runes almost as easy as mining the essence. I dont think there is even enough rc pkers now to make a noticable difference in the ammount of nats reaching rs, and no matter how many nats come in, there is more yews, steel plates, magic logs, steel+ armour and weapons, rune meds, emerald + amulets and rings, ahrims staffs, battlestaffs, normal elemental staffs, ect reaching the economy, that will need allching. The absence of Pkers would negate the need for food and protective items (in most cases), which would both increase the number of nature runes per rune and decrease both weight and the the amount of time spent walking. I'm pretty bad at speculating these sorts of situations, but I would expect tens of thousands more nature runes would be produced, including that of RCers that previously did not use the abyss because of Pkers or switched from using the traditional method instead. -

This stimulates more alchemists, and more gp poured into circulation. -
Question: Least-Admirable Skill Cape
someone_els replied to Lunar_Drifter's topic in General Discussion
If you dont' strictly mean within the boundaries of skill capes, then I definitely admire the quest cape the least: I managed to earn one with a combat level of 78, with a total level under 1300 and not a skill above 70.
