Jagex' new rares? - 3A vs discontinued - PRICE UPDATE 7/2
Its a mixed blessing I suppose... In one hand you have the massive ammounts of gp youre getting form all this... But in the other you have the slim to none chance that you actually get that item...

Jagex' new rares? - 3A vs discontinued - PRICE UPDATE 7/2
Unfortunately, we can only estimate at certain things... The only ACTUAL evidence you're going to get, is a Jmod saying something on forums...

Skilling Clan Explosion
Although as I understand it... GUILDS is not a clan, but more of a community. Atleast loose enough to have people form other clans just participate int heir stuff... Someone from Guilds should clarify this though, dont asume anything from a person who only thought he read something somewhere :P

Jagex' new rares? - 3A vs discontinued - PRICE UPDATE 7/2
Rofl... And full dragon will do what?. 3rd age is better then full dragon remember, and 3rd age is about 1000 times harder to get then full dragon. a 1 in 90,000 chance or so of getting a 3rd age piece.. 4 pieces per set.. 2 hours per clue.. Indeed... Funny now with the release of Granite Plate and 3rd age (both indestructable); Granite will slowly replace Rune Plates, making Rune Plates even cheaper. Same thing will however not in the near future happen with 3rd age and Dragon. Dragon will get slightly cheaper yes, but 3rd age will not replace it.

Jagex' new rares? - 3A vs discontinued - PRICE UPDATE 7/2
I dont know if Jagex sets different drop rates "at first" But it is coincidental that someone can have such rare items by the masses just after it got released, and few to none thereafter... Especially if as you say, the chance of you getting one at your 16.000th kill is the same as the first kill

Jagex' new rares? - 3A vs discontinued - PRICE UPDATE 7/2
The question really is: Even with more people doing level 3 clues, the "droprate" is still amazingly low. Is it low enough that it cannot "outrun" runescapes ever increasing populace? If this is the case, it will be a chance for everyone to get something LIKE the rares that we currently know, and hence I asked: Has Jagex released more "rares" into the game...

Fairy Ring destinations we still dont know about?
I know what youre going to say; "every combination all (4*4*4) 64 combinations have been tried out already". But.... There is for example atleast 1 Fairy Ring in the Haunted Woods, close to Port Phasmatys, that is just 1-way, only leading you back to Zanaris. During the quest, to get to the Fairy Queen's secret chambers, you had to "dial" a combination of 4 addresses (AIR, DLR, DJQ - a nonexisant ring, and AJS if memory serves). AJS is normally the penguin island, so this lead me to wonder... What other combination of addresses could be out there that could very well lead to one of the nasty little secrets that Jagex has in store for us? There are ofcourse an immense ammount of combinations to try; 64 * 63 * 62 * 61 IF you are asuming that none of the 4 addresses used are the same. This puts us at over a million and a half possible codes. So for the curious people out there: get to work!

Jagex' new rares? - 3A vs discontinued - PRICE UPDATE 7/2
1 in 16k... That is, once you get a lvl 3 clue, and went through all 6 of them, 0,00625%. Imagine that you can do a clue every 2 hours (including killing the creatures to actually get the clues), then youd need to be 32,000 hours at it (or 1,333 days, or 4 years). That, or 32k players are currently chasing a clue, and ONE SINGLE 3rd age item is released every hour. The point is clear... They are probably the hardest item to optain in the entire game... How will this affect its price? read my earlier posts for my analysis.

Jagex' new rares? - 3A vs discontinued - PRICE UPDATE 7/2
Hevendor_Guy: Some of the previous posters have already disproven your point to a certain extent, however due to your plain badgering, I'll take a swing at your shakey arguments as well... You say that there is a difference between rare and discontinued, in RuneScape, people call the discontinued items a rare, and you know this. I may be dutch, but my understanding of english is far better then the average american, englishmen, or australian... So please forgive me if i stay with the terms that the people of RuneScape are familiar with. You say about phats: "No supply + High demand = Extremely High prices" You are right, but with extremely high prices, also comes the impossibility to buy one. At a certain point these prices will reach a point where they can no longer be attained by members who are starting out within any reasonable ammount of time. At this point your "demand" stays constant, since phats are often not sold for cash, but for other rares. Then about 3rd age items you say: "Low supply + High demand = High prices" I think that with the current drop rates of clues, and the drop rates of any of the aforementioned items per clue (0,01%), the supply doesnt get much higher then "low". The populace of runescape increases however, and since a 3rd age kiteshield is far more useful, and currently much more of a status symbol, its demand may be well higher then you expect. That and the hype of everyone rushing to hellhounds to camp out there for days to get a clue dying out; I am willing to wager that the prices of these 3rd age items will not have settled in 1 year from now, they will still be increasing provided that no drop rates, stats, or anything like that have been changed by then, nor better indestructable armor released. Ofcourse when jagex releases even MORE possible rewards from lvl 3 clues, the 3rd age stuff only gets rarer. frogmite: Thank you for seeing what I have been trying to piont out. I have not been around during the early days of the items you mentioned, so I'll have to take your word for it. However I do disagree with you to some extend when you say that 3rd age items will eventually level out. I think there will be an ever increasing price on these items for all the reasons I mentioned earler. r2-pleasent: You seem to agree with me that, although not as steady as Duke Freedom once showed with his graphs, and not as much as the "rares", these 3rd age items will have an ever-increasing pricetag still. However you are right about my topic title, I will edit it to reflect that. Duke_Freedom: I knew you couldnt resist to post here. As usual you are right, but I disagree with yuo on 1 thing. I don't think that the ammount of players that is doing clues has halved. I think its much worse then that. I used to be unable to find any good Hell Hound spots that I even considered tackling them in the Wild with just 2 items (3rd being the clue dropped). Now even at the Family Crest dungeon I can camp out for hours without seeing anyone. This is blamed on several factors ofcourse: holidays are over, hype of clues dies down, and perhaps even sheer discouragement from not getting anything good. Let's do your same calculation but then with more people in the first month: X items a day, but 5*X during the holidays equals to 150*X items with getting X every day. This translates into an increase of 3rd age items per day of 0,667%, less then half of your 1.4%. So I end up at 20% increase a month instead of 42% I agree that this still does not approach the 5% you say that the subscribers base of RuneScape increases a month, but it puts things more into perspective, and allows for a much greater time period in which the price of the 3rd age item will "settle", if at all.

Few 'minor' PoH suggestions to make life easier
No, just bronze axe and bronze pickaxe. Why not? I've surprised many people with my fried onion/cheese/pitta bread/Chefs ale dinners. Exactly the point. Why not let us make it ourselves, and in return let us butter up our potatoes, so we can make much more various things with these. It would be just for the teleport spells (not telegroup spells or any of the others) You can make a new one by chopping a log from that tree and using a knife on it, then buying golden wool from that troll, and then you can charge it. You can have multiple lyres. Morytania, perhaps at Burgh de Rott, but I thought it appropriate since the dwarves have been working down there for months to increase the room for more people to live. So why not us.

Few 'minor' PoH suggestions to make life easier
Ever came up something short for your house? Ever thought to yourself "why didnt they just do this or that"? I have, on several occasions. So heres a few minor suggestions that could make all the bit of difference: 1.) Tool Store 6: With spawns of a bronze hatchet, and a bronze pickaxe, for obvious reasons. How often have you realised that there is not a single dart or knife present for a game of darts? or no log to ligth the fireplaces? 2.) Knife in the kitchen: Because it makes sense? 3.) A churn in the kitchen: Let us make our own cheese and butter and cream, so we can prepare something more then the very basics of food. Replace the cheese in the larder with a Spice or Gnome Spice. 4.) A new room called the Farm: Hotspots are 3 patches you can build (allotment, fruit tree, bush, and mushroom). In there you have to have the farming level as well as the construction level to plant a seed. Mushrooms and allotment however, grow back much like bushes and fruit trees do, but with limited supply ofcourse. 2 more hotspots are there for farm animals (cows, chickens and porkers) which can be killed like normal and respawn ofcourse (pigs would drop bones and meat). 5.) Instead of just Eagle and Demon lecterns, why not let us have Lunar and Ancient lecterns as well? 6.) Or what about a few more portal options: - Ice Plateau (Ancient version), deep wildy, close tot he Obelisk - Port Khazard (Lunar), close to Trawler - Barbarian (Lunar), close to Barbarian Assault - Moon Clan (Lunar), self-explanatory 7.) Mounted Lyre. The Rellekkan teleport would, could, should be able to be mounted as well. For added difficulty, it could require that it has to have 4 charges to be mounted (so charge it with a Manta Ray). 8.) A new house location. Remember what the dwarves are building for the Miscellanians? They are building an entire underground village under the castle to house the many new arrivals. A new hosue location there at level 60 Construction for 50k would be reasonable (with Royal Trouble completed ofcourse). I'll edit it some more when i think of some mroe ideas... please discuss :)

Jagex' new rares? - 3A vs discontinued - PRICE UPDATE 7/2
3 new 3rd age items a day, and how many new members a day? its the relative ratio of 3rd age items vs total active members that may cause these items to stay up there rising in price for a looong time...

Jagex' new rares? - 3A vs discontinued - PRICE UPDATE 7/2
I just been browsing the popular priceguide site who's link I will not put here. One thing I noticed was the price of some of the new Treasure Trail items released a month ago. Third Age kiteshield 50,000,000gp - 70,000,000gp Third Age platebody 50,000,000gp - 65,000,000gp Third Age robe top 30,000,000gp - 40,000,000gp Third Age range top 29,000,000gp - 32,000,000gp Third Age platelegs 25,000,000gp - 30,000,000gp Third Age robe 25,000,000gp - 30,000,000gp Third Age full helm 20,000,000gp - 25,000,000gp These are the items currently (Januari 10th) worth equal to or more then a Santa Hat. Now I know that jagex sometimes exxagerates (or rather the opposite, understates) certain things in their news bulletins, but "rares then getting a champion scroll from a pesky Imp" may not have done it justice at all... Everyone has seen a Phat at some point, but how often have you seen someone wear a piece of 3rd age armor? Has Jagex set the droprate of these new items so low, that the ratio of new members to new items remains constant, or worse, shifts slowly still into the direction of more members then items dropped? (relativly speaking ofcourse; where it was 1 item every 1k lvl-3-clues, it could now be 1 item every 1200 lvl-3-clues)... Either way, it is very rare, if not unique for a non-rare (items that are still released into the economy) to INCREASE in price still after the initial surge of the "new-ness" that has to wear off still... So with these items released; Are they the new rares? If not, what then are they? One can introduce the term "uncommon" item here, which would certainly suggest it is hard to get, but not impossible. My opinion is that there will be more of such items in the future, most likely similarly introduced via the treasure trails. PS: One thing puzzles me though. I know that more people have been hunting for lvl-3-clues then before the Treasure Trail update, which should make items like the Saradomin Plate more common. On the other hand they should be far less common, since the variety of items you can get from a clue, is more then doubled. PPS: Could anyone help me out on this thread? Much appreciated. [uPDATE 16/1] The first price updates are in. Since this was posted, the value of these items have been updated: Third Age kiteshield 90,000,000gp - 140,000,000gp Third Age platebody 90,000,000gp - 120,000,000gp As you can see, the value of these items have nearly DOUBLED sicne I first posted their prices. Oh how I wish I could watch the faces of some people while they are eating their words. More to come! [uPDATE 24/1] More updated prices are in: Third Age kiteshield 90,000,000gp - 130,000,000gp (went down slightly) Third Age platebody 75,000,000gp - 100,000,000gp (went down) Third Age plateleg 26,000,000gp - 30,000,000gp (went up) Third Age robe top 26,000,000gp - 30,000,000gp (went down) Third Age full helm 26,000,000gp - 29,000,000gp (went up) For details see my latest post [uPDATE 2/2] Another updated price is in: Third Age platebody 70,000,000gp - 80,000,000gp (went down) For details see my latest post [uPDATE 7/2] Another updated price is in: Third Age platebody 55,000,000gp - 60,000,000gp (went down, but still the next best expensive item after 3rd age Kite) Third Age platelegs 30,000,000gp - 35,000,000gp (went up) Third Age robe top 25,000,000gp - 30,000,000gp (went down slightly) Third Age robe 24,000,000gp - 27,000,000gp (went down) Third Age full helm 25,000,000gp - 29,000,000gp (went down slightly) And the 3rd Age Kiteshield is now a whopping 100,000,000gp - 150,000,000gp For details see my latest post

Battle Assault Tactics -Post yours here!-
I'm a lvl 5 Defender... I got there by basicly having neither of the usually 2 healers have me updated... What i do is i get an invent of the food, and drop iot randomly on the right half of the field (luring all runners to the eastern trap). Then I run north to get hammer and a few logs, and then I make 3 piles near the trap, one for each food. Every 2 Runners you kill, the trap needs fixing, so do so, and make sure that the (right half) field remains littered with all types of food. Then when I get the message that all Runners have been killed, I go to the Horn of Glory, and t00t everyone their instructions as they come in, since I'm usually done first anyways. Having 2 healers is a must. Have the highest level healer heal everyone, and the lowest lvl healer (barbarian level wise) poison the healers as priority (so not as sole jobs). Oh, and occasionally shout whats needed to poison. PS: as defender its getting a lot easier after you get level 3, since the runners will be smelling your food from miles away.

BA Communication
without the horns, you would have to be RELIANT on teamspeak or other outside chatprograms... Now wasnt there an update a few days back about chat programs outside of runescape?
