That's exactly what you're doing right now... just saying. For someone who complained about posts being taken out of context you sure do a good job yourself.

Jagex - Bot Busting
Player Moderators are not forced to do anything different while playing the game. Just because they have the power to report does not mean they should. People who call Player Mods to come do something are the most irritating people in the game, "I know a Pmod I'll get them". As a Player Moderator myself there is very very few occasions where I'd go somewhere and do something for the sake of taking action against somebody, it would have to be a very extreme case that needs urgent attention to stop a risk of safety for others. Also, use your ignore list. I've told you many times before yet you seem to have a problem doing that and always complain about people continuing on saying/doing bad things. Your ignore list exists for a reason, use it. I always wanted to be a PMod. I probably would have non-stop bot hunted/scammer muted in w2. Shame, instead they seem to have given the position to more people who will mute you for saying the F word than people who actually do something. You aren't forced to do anything different, but you should. If you aren't going to don't accept the [bleep]ing modship. Afaik Player Mod reports for bots aren't handled any differently than normal players reporting them, so it doesn't matter who reports them in that case. Your attitude is the exactly opposite of what makes a good player mod. There are better ways of dealing with things than reporting every single person you see for doing the smallest stuff. Going out of your way to find these people is not why I play this game. I use my "powers" when the need arises, I don't go looking for reasons to use it and in my opinion no mod should.

Posting all the things these people are posting on their proxied accounts and what not proves that we were justified in banning them. Not really the best way to argue that we're being overzealous with modding...

This is exactly what is wrong, you are incapable of understanding the problem. It's okay, I give up. And please, in the future, don't call me an idiot. I think that's a banable offense these days. Leaving this alone now to avoid your banhammer. Please show me where I called you an idiot? I provided various points as to why the problem that's being described can be avoided yet all I'm getting back is "No, we shouldn't do that" "Player B always lies" "Player A is always correct and telling the truth!". There are various ways of telling people they're wrong without having to start a flame war.

So what you want is that as soon as someone replies to a thread that is locked as the first person to reply to it is the only one that is correct and everyone else is just trolling that make a point after that. Gotcha

Lord in the heavens above. Are you actually thinking about what you're typing? GOD :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: Yeah so now we have to include every detail, history, future, assumptions and possible update affects connected to our answer just incase a troll enters the conversation ans nay-say's our method? Great thinking, bro! I see nothing wrong with what he said. Just because some troll comes along after you and says something different, doesn't mean your arguement gets thrown out the window. And of course you have to provide detail if you want to back up your method. Let's take a fury vs glory arguement. Player A says: Fury is best. Player B says: Glory is good too, and 15m cheaper. Obviously, this could cause some thinking for the OP to decide whether or not 15m was worth some extra bonuses. Player A says: Fury is better, and gives some evidence as to why 15m is worth the extra bonuses. Player B says: Glory is cheaper. Then of course the OP would take Player A's advice more seriously, and there would be no need for Player A to come back and flame player B. It's a lot easier then that for an idiot to sound smart on the internet. Another problem is that Player B will believe they are right all along and argue to their last breath. That's exactly what you're doing right now... just saying.

So what's to say Player A's information is correct then? Nothing. Also, why are you bringing false information into this? It has nothing to do with the discussion at hand. If people are posting false information then report them, that is against the rules.

An answer to a question is only good if you explain WHY it is. If someone asks what the best way to train a skill is you shouldn't just reply with "X is best". You should reply with "X is best, it gives y xp per hour and only costs z gp per hour.". Then if someone else replies with something different they should be giving valid reasons as to why it's a suitable alternative to X. Such as being significantly cheaper for only slightly less xp/hour or whatever. That's not asking a lot. I fail to see how any sort of argument can break out over that. Discussion perhaps, which can only be a good thing. But someone's got to be at fault for an argument coming out of a situation like that. If you think that's asking too much then I give up all hope.

TIF is bit over-moderated
Surely if Person A's answer was so excellent in the first place they would have included all the information as to why their suggestion is the best in their original post and not have to make an additional post detailing these reasons. If you've explained it well enough then the person asking the question will be able to see the evidence as to why that method is the best and there's no need for an argument to take place. So if Person B comes in with another method of doing whatever they would then need to also back up their point as to why it's better than Person A's method. Or would that be too sensible of a solution?

Intellectual Property
For me, both of these are definitely happening now. I don't want tipit to become a hell hole so I'm gonna remain here and help make it better. Remember the best way to fix something bad is to actually fix it, not continuing to post and complain and stuff. The problem is that we've already gone into private discussion with the admins, and nothing happened. It was kinda chaotic at first, but once everything was settled and our ideas were put on the table, it was basically brushed off. Then a bunch of prominent guide-writers got banned for harmlessly joking with each other. I mean, what else can we do at this point? I just don't feel like Tip.it deserves our contributions. However, that is not to say that Tip.it POSTERS shouldn't be helped. I'd highly advise everyone to sign up at Grimy's forum at least temporarily if you need any sort of help and advice. Any future guides will be posted there, too. Also, nice job on moving this thread away from the public, Jimmy Jim. :) Except the ideas haven't been brushed off. We're in the process of finalising the board and to be honest it would probably have been up and running now if it wasn't for all this crap we've had to deal with tonight instead. You could have simply asked if anything was happening, there was no need to go into toy throwing mode.

First, some of those are out of context. Don't pretend they aren't, I've recognize them and I know. The fact of the matter is it IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING when you are trying to help people and trolls interfere. This makes people mad, it's natural. Please, try posting a little in H&A and you will understand. Isn't the bottom line what everyone contributes to the community? Don't the contributions of individuals-who-I'm-afraid-to-name-specifically-for-fear-of-being banned outweigh their... zeal when dealing with certain types. They tried to explain in the locked thread how it is possible to become frustrated easily in the environment here. They are 100% right in that regard. Edit: @ Jaffy The copyright thing is in regards to a forums guide, not a website guide. He wasn't attacking you. Someone's contribution of content does not give them the right to break the rules. If you've been warned for breaking the rules for one thing and continue doing that exact same thing over and over you can NOT complain when you eventually get banned for doing it. Also, how is telling someone they're stupid and calling them "scum" taken out of context? None of the posts there can be taken out of context. Calling someone a troll and asking why they're not banned yet. I can't think of a single situation where that's acceptable and the context would make that ok. Can you please give me an example of that? Along with telling someone to go away and no one wants them there. Please tell me how they are out of context.

Yes, spending over an hour talking to someone trying to resolve an issue while various members of the side were spamming the forums is really being uncooperative . No, saying "NO WE DEMAND A FORUM AND WILL SETTLE FOR ANYTHING ELSE" is being uncooperative, and guess what, that's not from our side. It would die, if people didn't constantly post crap in the topics forcing us to lock them. Just like when there's a spambot some people think it's a brilliant idea just to quote them and reply to the topic. Yes, that's really helping the cause . With regards to posting parts of what people have done. I will not say who posted what but it's just a very small amount from several of the people who have been banned/warned and seem to be the people arguing the strongest against us. And no, we will never fully reveal everything, the posts are removed from public for a reason so it'd be completely pointless having an entirely open system. "Firstly, you are stupid, and thus did deserve to die. And seconly, why would any tip.it members care for scum like you that make PvP 1 on 1 fighting impossible." " PRO TROLLING LEVEL 120 YOU WIN THIS AWARD http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_QTp2oQ0Q0Xc/StuJVjIjE3I/AAAAAAAAARg/tQh-RPsKTCU/s400/Golden+Internet+Troll+Award.jpg" (Image not put in tags here, but was in original post). The next 3 are from the same user in a short period of time, high content posts right here. "How are you not banned yet, troll?" "Isn't it obvious? FOR TEH LULZ!!111!11shifteleventyone!!" " [bleep]ing reading, how does it work?" That one is good as it involves one user quoting a spam post by another user both of whom are involved. Here are some more from various other users involved: "SCAMMING SCUM SCAMMER SCAMMING NOOB" "Just go away, nobody wants you here. Chaotic weapons." That's just a small selection from just a few of the users. There's much worse things that I can not post here for obvious reasons. These are all very small amounts of what they've been warned for, most of them having at least 5+ warnings, most of which have come in recent months. If after being told to not post like that you continue posting like that, what do you expect to happen? Be given a medal?

There's been a lot of trying to cooperate. They brick walled and then banned a few of the people seeking compromise. That's not something they could have expected not to blow up at them. Spamming the forums, trolling, generally posting crap is not "compromise". Within minutes of the discussion taking place and the first replies coming in which didn't just say "Yes, we will do everything right away" topics were made filled with crap, it's gone on since then.
-
TIF is bit over-moderated
Yes, this topic is very private indeed. Also, we're not the ones who requested a private discussion regarding the cause of these issues. And when that discussion took place we were not the ones to go crazy and start posting crap. Perhaps if we published all the things the people who have been banned have done then people will change their mind and call us too lenient on some of these people. Although I'm sure you'll find something wrong with that.

Efficiency Trolls
Clearly being civil is too much to ask so going to lock this topic. If you have a problem with something then posting crap about it and constantly whining about it and playing up is NOT a way to get it changed. You try doing that in the real world, in a job and you'll have your arse out of the door. You don't request to have a discussion about something and then when you don't hear "YES!" within the first 5 minutes go posting crap elsewhere to try and prove your point, it doesn't work like that. To the moron posting from a proxy, please grow a pair. Your posts are not funny and you're impressing no one with your terrible racism. You're just making a fool out of yourselves and really making the point you're trying to make a lot weaker. If you're stupid enough to do something like that then it just proves we were justified in banning you as we do not want people like that anywhere near this site. We've gone out of our way to try and help you guys resolves the issues you've been having with the forums and the thanks we get is nothing but trouble. You lot know who you are and really should be ashamed. Any respect I had for any of you before this are long gone now and I'm sure I'm not the only one. It's also very strange that the majority if people complaining about this whole things have a lot of recent warnings to their names for various things (and recent I mean within the last few months, not the last few days). Your terrible posting styles have not gone unnoticed and a lot of you were lucky to still be unbanned, so before you go on about overzealous modding you should consider yourselves lucky that we've not been as harsh as we should have been against you previously. Maybe this is a harsh and strongly worded post, but you've brought it on yourselves as this has gotten entirely out of hand now. While we're (moderators) are not entirely blameless in this situation this whole thing could have been avoided if you used a bit of common sense and actually spent half a second to think about what you're doing and realise how bloody ridiculous it is. Any more discussion in public regarding anyone's punishment about this whole situation and you will most likely end up with a ban yourself without a warning as you've had plenty of those throughout this thread and many others. Thank You, DarkDude

12-Apr-2011- Clan Camp, Support and Web Pages
There are 3 different chats: Friends Chat - Exactly the same as before, you type in a name and join that persons chat, no restrictions on this. Clan Chat - You join a clan and you're in this clan chat, forever. YOu can't leave this chat no matter what (unless you leave this clan). Guest Clan Chat - You type in another Clan's name and can join their clan chat if they allow it. So if your friends are all in clans you can still talk to them in Friends Chat. Or if you're in one Clan and your friends are in another Clan you can join their chat and talk to them there.

"RuneScape is currently unavailable for the majority of players and anybody who manages to log in will not have an ideal experience. We are aware of this and have our sysadmin team, engine team and our core hosting providers looking into this issue. Our news module is hosted in the same place as everything else and is also having problems. This is why there are no updates via RuneScape.com once you see newsposts there then the problem should be over. At this time we have no comment on if there will be a rollback or membership refunds. Please bear with us and if you have any questions we are trying to answer as much as possible via our official twitter and facebook accounts though please bear in mind the volume of questions we are getting is quite high at the minute. Thank you for your continued support. Mod Fetzki Head of RuneScape Content http://www.twitter.com/RuneScape" From the Tip.It home page ;)- April 11th, 2011
The site was pretty much the only thing online, they didn't have the ability to create a news post or anything which is why they didn't do it. It wasn't planned so no warning could go up.- Rare Drop Table??
Actually, before there were two rare drop tables. The first one was the simple one, dropped by most creatures containing: Gems, Half Keys, Rune Javelins (5), Dragon Spear, Shield left Half. Then there was a second one, mainly on higher level monsters but not exclusively. This one I can never remember all the drops on but it was things such as: Dragonstone, 45 death runes, 56 Natures, 150 steel arrows, 100 silver ore, Rune Kite, Rune Spear, Rune Square, 45 Law runes, Dragon Med and probably some other things I've forgotten about. Now I'm not sure if the 2nd set of drops were actually a separate table like the first or just a bunch of drops grouped together and put on certain monsters. Greater Demons for example only drop the first set of items whereas Abyssal Demons drop both sets. I'm not entirely sure where the new drops fit into this either (not played enough since the update) but I believe it's the first set of drops where the new drops are and not the second set.- Account Hijacking & Jagex Item Return Policy
WoW for example has 99% of the items are untradable, or one use only (once used can't be traded again) and thus have no worth once they've done that. So being able to get those items back has no huge effect on the economy as the only way to get rid of the items off an account is to remove them from the game. How is that fair to the innocent person who is very happy with their new item? How would they do it? What if it was for example a dragonfire shield and you wanted to take it away when they were fighting dragons? What if this player then sells it on before it's had a chance to be given back to the original owner at an updated price? Hence why it's not been done. So inconsistency in what Jagex should do what be fairer than a blanket statement of saying no, we don't do this? How does that work? You're almost underestimating the amount of work that needs to be put in to do this. First they need to check to be 100% sure that it's not just someone's friend who is "hacking" them to try and gain some advantage by doing so. Also the wealth in most cases would be spread very very quickly, so would be next to impossible to track down.- Account Hijacking & Jagex Item Return Policy
RuneScape's economy is entirely different to other MMOs. Almost every single item in game has a value to it. If someone gets hacked and loses a party hat which is sold on the GE to an innocent player you can't then produce another party hat to give it back to the person that got hacked. If you suggest that every item is tracked down and "returned" so nothing is duplicated then that would take a lot of work to do, probably well over an hour per account. If you think Jagex have enough time to do that then you are entirely mistaken. No company could spend that long doing that with the number of players RuneScape has. I agree that if items are lost to a bug (and completely taken out of the game because of it) then I see no reason why it shouldn't be given back. But for hacking etc, nope. - Stewing for 92 herb
