Brutal greens are usually empty.

If you do mine 2, drop 2 on a full world, it isn't that bad, and it increases the # of spots you can use. I prefer the 2 iron spot at the ice mountain entrance to the dwarven mines. I also like to take nats and superheat the iron and smith stuff on the anvil down there.

Prayer boosting gear is a waste. Barrows drains your prayer by 10 points at regular intervals, and the intervals become shorter the more brothers you kill - almost all of your prayer drain will come from this, not from praying. So whatever you decide, don't bother trying to add in a prayer bonus. Just focus on your offensive bonuses for whatever you decide, but killing the melee brothers with anything besides mage will probably take too long at your levels.

I'm sure you all agree... SURPRISING ANALYSIS - 4TH LINK

There's more to it than just inflation. There is the hysteria that is caused by incessant threads about it making it worse than it has to be. You also have people switching from gathering materials to 26king. Fewer and fewer materials are being brought into the game, and it seems obvious to me that at least some of the price increases are also the product of a fundamental change in the supply of many items. There has probably also been a shift in the demand for useful PvP items as well. The bottom line is, we don't know how much of this is real inflation, and how much is due to other factors. Now granted, it all ties in to the 26k, but take the "hysteria" that has accompanied it - it makes people frantic to buy supplies now that they see themselves needing in the future, before the price goes even higher. This creates a huge [bleep]e in demand for things like bones and logs. And merchants play their part as well, because they will keep buying as prices continue to rise, creating an even larger artificial [bleep]e in demand. In other words, it is likely that much of the inflation we're seeing isn't real. That's not to say there isn't a problem, but there's more to it than simple inflation by an influx of money. -
Well, salamander damage is more level-dependant than magic dart, so at lower mage levels, magic dart may have a higher max hit. For me, slayer dart's max is 19 while it's 23 with a salamander.
-
It's a significant speed increase, because the salamander attacks significantly faster than you can cast spells, and has a higher max hit - so you will use less food against the melee brothers because you will kill them faster. Also, every cast of magic dart costs 340 coins. Each shot from a black salamander costs 254 coins. The magic dart runes aren't free just because you get them from the barrows chest. You still use up 340 coins worth of runes each shot.

A black salamander is cheaper and faster than using slayer dart.

At your levels, you should need no more than 2 doses of prayer pot per run, and you will likely get through most runs using 1 or none, but it varies depending on which brother you get in the tunnels. Here is what I bring - you can replace much of the equipment with more expensive, better stuff, but I really don't think it's necessary: I wear: Rune plate & legs Dragon boots Fury God cape Neitiz helm Barrows gloves Black salamander Harra tar Ring of life I carry: Spade (DO NOT FORGET!) Abyssal whip Magic shortbow Mithril arrows Black dhide legs and body Elemental Shield Home teletab 2 4 dose prayer pots 10 monkfish First, dig at Dharok's tomb. Turn on melee prayer, search his tomb, kill him with your salamander on magic. Then go to Karil, turn on range prayer, equip your whip, and kill him. You are going to kill the rest of the brothers without prayer - first up is Ahrim. Put on your dhides, equip your bow & arrows, and kill Ahrim. After this, put your melee armor back on, equip your salamnder, and kill the remaining 3 brothers without praying, eating when necessary. Go down and kill your tunnel brother, then tab home, refill your prayer, portal to Canifis, bank, and head back down to the barrows. A couple of notes - I've found a bow and arrows is better for killing Ahrim than using the salamander on the ranged setting. It just kills him faster - not sure why. Second, you will use anywhere from 2-6 monkfish, on average, but unless you end up with Karil or Dharok in the tunnels, you will not need to drink any of your prayer potions, since these are the only brothers you will need to pray on. If you bring better melee armor than rune, you will use less food each run, but regardless, conserving prayer saves you a ton of money in the long run.
-
It's all luck. Sometimes you go 40 or 50 (or more) trips in a row with no barrows items, and sometimes you get 2 in one chest. You can't rely on getting a specific # of barrows items unless you do a LOT (like 1000 or more) runs.

Waterfiends would be too much at your level. No bunyip with melee levels around 70 isn't going to cut it. The fastest source of charms from something you should be able to kill easily and cheaply would be greater demons; range or melee them in the wilderness volcano. However, if you are willing to spend a lot of cash, you could try cannoning black demons in Taverley dungeon to collect crimson charms. Wallasalkis in Waterbirth dungeon are also a good cannoning target, as they frequently drop blue charms, but this is riskier.

Yeah, ardy tele is quick enough. You can also use a skills necklace to the fishing guild if you happen to be on ancients or lunars.
-
If you don't mind leaving the arrows and not getting drops, scorpions in the dwarven mine are an excellent choice for lower levels. Just stand behind the tin or iron rocks and fire away. Constant killing. You can also try the scorpions in the chasm mine while standing outside, but the king scorpions in the dwarven mine should provide better targets.
-
Neither. Use barrows armor. Goraks hit through prayer, and hit often and hard, so you want to maximize your melee defence as much as you possibly can. Veracs would be better if you plan on praying piety, but because you are close to a bank but not an altar, you're better off just using food and forgetting about prayer altogether, unless you don't mind spending a lot on prayer pots. I recently killed a lot of these to stock up on gems (and have 4k emeralds as a result :D). I used Torags plate & legs, d boots, berserker helm, obby shield, and a whip. A bunyip is very useful as well. What is most useful is a ring of wealth. Now, it's probably not as helpful if you only kill 66 of them, but you will greatly enhance your chances at a half key drop with one. I typically went through 16 monks in addition to a bunyip to get an inventory full of gems; if you are going to use piety, you will need less. My stats were a bit lower than yours when I was killing them, so you could probably get by with fewer than 16 monks per trip, especially if you use a bunyip.

Enchanting air orbs is slow but very profitable. You can either make or buy unpowered orbs, enchant them, and then either sell them or attach them to battlestaves.
-
i assume you mean the greaters in the volcano... i have done a task there and only got about 5 charms total Really? I'm killing them for charms right now, the charm drop rate seems to be as good as dust devils with a higher % of the charms dropped being crimson.

Mining and banking iron near Piscatoris with a spirit Kyatt is decent mining XP, if you find all the dropping associated with powermining to be a drag.
-
The lever takes you to the King Black Dragon's lair. It is non-wildy, and you will likely get hit by dragonbreath as soon as you enter, but if you use your antifire shield and tab out right away, you won't be in any danger. I would recommend you go on ancients and buy a few mage pots - that way if you do have to tab out, you can use Ghorrock teleport to get back up there in a matter of seconds. Or, you could use lunars and the ice plateau teleport, but I personally find that annoying because it puts you on the other side of the fence.
-
I'm finding that greater demons are decent for crimson charms, probably the easiest monster to kill that has a decent drop rate for crimsons. Easy to kill, easy to get to, and right next to a bank.

It will almost double your costs and it definitely won't cut your smelting time in half. Not to mention it's a lot of clicking. Not worth it.

Unfinished mith bolts currently sell for 72 each. A mith bar costs about 1200 currently. You get 10 bolts per bar, so you lose about 480 per bar this way - costing almost 10 coins/XP. Unfinished addy bolts sell for 178 each. A bar is selling for around 2400 currently. You lose ~600 per bar, again at a cost of around 10 coins/XP. Meanwhile gold ore buys for around 500, bars sell for around 250. That's a loss of 250 per bar, at a cost of around 4.5 coins/XP. Gold ore is a far more economical option than either type of bolt. Straight smithing bars or smelting ores goes max at around 1200 per hour, using Varrock armor 3. This will get you 60k per hour with mith bolts, 67.5k per hour with gold ore, and 75k per hour with addy bolts. Total cost to 88: Mith bolts: 83.2k mith bars * 480 lost per bar is around 40 mil - 20 mil with SC hammers. Around 35 hours w/hammers. Addy bolts: 66.5k addy bars * 600 lost per bar is also right around 40 mil - 20 mil with SC hammers. Around 28 hours w/hammers. Gold ore: 74k gold ores * 250 lost per ore is 18.5 mil lost. 62 hours. Gold ore is slightly cheaper than the other 2 methods, and won't require mucking about for days on end playing Stealing Creation.

Superheating for a member isn't recommended, unless you want the mining XP. Otherwise, it's kind of a waste of time. For pure speed, simply buy bars and smith plates. This is very fast - you can realistically smith 2500 bars per hour if you are making plates. Without hammers, making addy plates, this will be 150-160k per hour - and I hear that getting the hammers isn't a time saver, so it should average out to be around the same. Now, prices vary, but you can ballpark losing about 350 coins per addy bar bought if you alch the plates you make. You need about 138k addy bars to reach 99 smithing from 88 - which will lose about 48.3 mil. SC hammers halve this, so to answer your question: 88 to 99 smithing w/hammers will lose you 24 mil. You will smith 69k bars, at a rate of 2500 per hour, which will take you about 28 hours of time. Varrock armor 3 will save you an hour or 2 over time. To get to 88, gold ore w/gauntlets is your best bet. Mith plates lose too much money to be worth it. Smelt your gold ore in the Edgeville furnace with Varrock armor to smelt faster. Mith plates clock in at over 10 coins/XP, while gold ore is under 6. Gold is as cost effective than addy plates, but since addy plates are much faster to make, they are the far better choice at level 88.
-
Stuff you make yourself is the best stuff to alch.
-
Your only option without losing a ton of cash is smelting until 88. Once you get to 88, it's possible to mine only a small amount of the ore you need to make addy bars, buy the rest, and then smelt & smith into plates, and still break even. The best metal to smelt f2p is actually silver - you'll lose a bit of cash, but since you can smelt 28 ores per trip, it ends up being faster (and requires far less attention) than smelting anything else. Buying the ore and selling the bars could be a challenge, although you frequently see f2pers mining it, so it's worth a shot.
-
Prayer is your only option for efficiently killing them. You'd need black dhides or Karil's to kill them otherwise.
-
Can't you just range all of your tasks? There aren't very many tasks that you can't range normally, unless you are trying to keep your HP level down?
