I think most - if not all - of us would prefer it that way, but I'm not sure that it's an easy fix :(

First DSLR
For artistic still-life using manual focus is great but for snapshots or moving subjects, auto focus is much more important. If you have the option between a camera with great auto focus and a camera with not-so-great auto focus and the price isn't a huge difference, there's no reason not to go with the former.

Glad you liked it! :) So, I went to Barnes and Nobles today, and guess what the first thing I saw was? :P [hide][/hide] Available for pre-order now, comes out October 12, 2010. - - - Also, I'm really, really enjoying The Hobbit! Like I said, I was hesitant to read it due to my dislike of the LotR books, (*yawn*), but that hesitation was misplaced; I've only just now got to the Riddles in the Dark chapter, and Bilbo has just escaped Gollum's clutches. I'm quite excited to keep on reading! :) Yeah I stumbled across that a few weeks ago! Already pre-ordered it, I'm definitely looking forward to it! I'm glad that you're enjoying The Hobbit! :) It's definitely a fun read!

Construction Advice
When comparing doors and larders, the price remains the same but doors are faster because you use 10 planks at once instead of 8 :) That method should definitely cost under 7 million with SC hammers.

That is a good point - going to a camera store and holding some of the options can be a great way to make your decision. Sometimes your first DSLR can feel pretty awkward in your hands if you're coming straight from a P&S.

Custom Rank Contests...
Suggestions are always welcome and I didn't take any offense from yours :)

Custom Rank Contests...
Honestly I think this is over complicating things. We change custom ranks in someone's profile. Groups are stored and listed within the ACP and suddenly having a bunch more would really REALLY clutter up the admins' list. It may seem like a minor annoyance but we already have a ton of groups and it can be annoying scrolling through them all to find the one you want. Also, having regular members in different groups could potentially complicate things if we ever need to change members' permissions. Then rather than changing one group, we may have to change tens (depending upon the change that we're doing). It is true that we do have a bit more custom ranks now, but only within the staff. The rarity of custom ranks within the pool of regular members has not changed. Staff members have always been able to have custom ranks of their choosing since they do not have an opportunity to earn one via the rank contest (they are forbidden from entering since they judge the contests). Therefore, giving staff members custom ranks is both a token of thanks for judging the contests and simply just a small reward because as long as they're on staff, they do not even have a chance of winning one the "normal" way (again, because they're not allowed to even enter the contest). Honestly either way it's a custom name. Does changing the way in which it shows up really make it THAT much more special?

First DSLR
Well here are Amazon prices: EOS 350D: $600 new, $295 used EOS 400D: $800 new, $350 used EOS 450D: $530 new, $395 used EOS 500D: $580 new, $510 used EOS 40D: $1000 new, $550 used EOS 50D: $950 new, $720 used Nikon D40: $700 new, $260 used You might find variations buying through other sites. If you're going to buy one used, I would suggest Amazon or eBay. While I haven't bought any used camera bodies before, I have always had good experience buying through those sites. I have heard a few more horror stories from people who have used Craigslist. I don't know anything about Nikon, but all of the Canon choices would suit your needs just fine. As Shiny said, lenses are really what count the most. Personally, I own a Canon 450D and absolutely love it. It was my first DSLR, it's very easy to use/learn and I have no complaints. The lens is what will account for most of the image quality. For your first lens, you will want something pretty versatile so you can explore many different kinds of photography. That will help you find out what interests you and you can buy more specific lenses from there. If you want lens ideas, I'm sure we can help :) But first we will need to know if you decide to go with Canon or Nikon (go Canon!!).

4 New Additions
We are only freeing up names of old accounts that have zero posts and we're not actually deleting any accounts ;) What if the user's post count displays as having made 6 posts, but it appears all the posts are gone (as in, when viewing their profile it says "There are no posts to display" under the topics and posts tab)? Unfortunately the number does need to be zero :( Our reason for including post count is that if a user has posted, they have more invested in the community and expressed more interest in being an active contributor.

I'm going to address a few points here: First of all, everyone is welcome to contact an admin to express their concerns with a moderator. This can be if you disagree with action that was taken, have any worries or fears, want to report bias, etc. However, doing this publicly is NOT the answer. All of your concerns must be done via private message with an administrator. Doing it publicly only leads to staff bashing, flame fests, and possibly giving moderators an undeserved bad reputation. All concerns that are presented to the admin team will be thoroughly investigated, discussed and action taken if necessary. We admins have never said we don't like the Tavern or its users. We're certainly not going to "ban you all," as we have no reason to. All we admins have done is enforce our rules. The Falador Tavern is hosted on the Tip.it Forums and is thus subject to the Tip.it Forum Rules, which you all agreed to abide by upon registration. We already show EXTREME amounts of leniency in this board compared to others. For instance, on any other board the entire last page or so would probably just be removed due to being off-topic. But I am choosing not to do that because I'd rather help you guys understand the situation and correct some misinformation and misinterpretations. Additionally, once again, the flaming has to stop. I understand that some of you don't like each other, but being around people you dislike is a fact of life. Rather than lashing out at each other, you just have to start ignoring the people you don't like or at least be neutral towards them. If someone flames you, do not flame them back. Then in addition to dropping down to their level, you are also in violation of the Tip.it Forum Rules. Report rude or inappropriate posts so they can be dealt with. I have noticed that some of you have been reporting more lately and that's GREAT. It's very helpful and I'd like to encourage you all to continue. And as said before, the admin team is not going to suspend anyone's privileges because they are annoying or someone doesn't like them. If a user violates the Tip.it Forum Rules or the rules of the game, report them (via the Report Function or directly to an administrator via PM) and action will be taken. We will dish out warnings or bans when appropriate, but we're not going to ban someone without a good reason and evidence to support it.

Well, my brother owned LotR and I managed to read the first two, plus the first half of Return of the King, and then I gave up. A while ago I forced myself to buy a copy of The Hobbit and it's just been sitting on my shelf, so I pick it up every once and a while and at least contemplate reading it. :P Are you enjoying it so far? ^-^ I found LotR to be a lot more wordy than The Hobbit. I prefer the style of writing in The Hobbit much more, so it was easier for me to get through it :) And yes, I'm enjoying Red Pyramid! Tbh I usually do like to have a romantic side story in the books I read but despite this one lacking that, I'm liking the book a lot :) I'm an Ancient Egypt addict, as I think I covered in previous posts, so it appeals to me!

Good luck! I hope you get through it because The Hobbit is a great book! I enjoy it more than LotR :P I'm about half way through Red Pyramid!

so.... i appear to be pregnant
This. That sucks that he left you, it makes me mad when guys are jerks and do that (it also makes me mad because girls fall over and over for these jerks when they could see me, but thats beside the point and completly irrevelent) What if the father didn't want the baby, and wanted an abortion? Its always seemed odd to me it's always the woman's decision but the man still has to go through with everything she wants. But in marriage they're both equal. If she can't help herself with an abortion why should he help her? While I agree that both parties should be involved in the decision, in the end it is the woman who has to carry it around for 9 months, endure morning sickness/etc. and go through the pain of child birth. But maybe that argument holds more weight if the mother wanted an abortion and the father didn't... Although on the subject of the father, from the first post I got the impression that the father didn't leave her when he found out she was pregnant. Rather they were dating, they broke up, then she found out she was pregnant with his child. He didn't jump to get back together with her but is still offering his support as a father to the child.

What movie(s) did you last see?
Lol? I usually like Statham's movies, but damn... That movie was [cabbage]e. What did you like about it? I liked it :P Not much of a plot - sure - but I thought there was fun action, I enjoyed the racing and the ending was satisfying. I liked it when they blew up that women lol. [hide=Spoiler]"I always win." *opens box* BOOM[/hide]

Maybe Wongtong meant are you going to raise the baby yourself or put it up for adoption? EDIT: Judging from your response, I'm going to assume you plan on raising it yourself.

The Back Room
Also same here. I can't stand fish D: The smell alone... eeww! The only fish I'll eat is my mom's swordfish. It doesn't smell fishy and tastes more like chicken imo. And well done steak > rare steak

I just watched Death Race... omg what an epic movie :P

The Back Room
All of his Hex vs. everyone else nonsense needs to end. There is too much flaming and arguing going on here. Flaming is coming from BOTH sides and as a reminder, it is a violation of the Tip.it Forum Rules. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Insulting people because you don't like them holds no purpose and will only get you in trouble. If someone flames you, don't flame them back. Report the post so the moderators can handle it.

Herp de derp.
Nice job! :) A few things: I don't like the transition from orange/red to blue in the sky :( It looks really sudden and unnatural. The hair on the character REALLY blends in with the mountains. If it's a portrayal of your RuneScape character I understand that you may not be able to just change the hair colour, but I feel like I have a hard time really picking out the character from the background, largely due to that colour problem.
