I'm not sure if I like the sephia/desaturation on some of the edited ones. The first one is okay but I feel like it could use more contrast. Something about it just doesn't seem right. The sephia works well for the second one ("Christmas Star"). It's probably my favourite of the edited bunch. I'm not a fan of the unedited one though. There's way too much going on and because of that, the focus seems really strange. It's like the outsides are in focus but the middle is out of focus. It's hard to know where to look. I really like the flower one :) I think the colours are really nice.

I think that most of the time, when people do something they don't want to do, it's because they're trying to achieve a higher goal that they WANT to meet.. not necessarily to gain respect from other people. Example: Say someone wants 80+ in all skills.. or 2000 skill total. Why do they set that goal? To challenge themselves or because it's something that they want. In order to accomplish that, they may have to do a skill or two that they don't like, but they're doing it to accomplish something that they DO like. I guess that's something like I was trying to say.

As I said in my post, I have no sympathy for the kid. I agree with you that he deserves to suffer for his crimes. My point was that 38 years just seems excessive. I was surprised by the number, that's all. I agree with you that he has to pay for what he did.

I think it looks pretty good for someone who is new to PhotoShop :) I too am not really a fan of the texture in the background or the text. But like I said, it's definitely a good start! I think the best thing you can do at this point is just keep practicing, reading more tutorials and posting your work here for comments. Keep it up :)

I appreciate the apologies guys, thank you (and I'm sure the OP does too). I don't think we should drive/scare away any potential newcomers to the Gallery just because their work isn't up to par with some of the veterans here.

Lol agreed. I think it's ridiculous how easily some people throw their lives away. Especially someone that young... I think 38 years is excessive but that doesn't mean I have much sympathy for him.. If you hack into the FBI's system they can lock you up forever in solitary confinement, so how the hell is this anything like that? God calm down :roll: I think what we BOTH meant was that something like an 18 year old hacking into a school system probably deserved more like 5 years tops. Potentially getting 38 years for that seems extreme so we compared it to a more extreme example. Obviously I know the consequences could be a lot worse than 38 years for hacking into the FBI systems.

Assuming that what you said was not just an excuse and you really did have a prior commitment, I wouldn't say so. If you like the girl, what you SHOULD have done to prove to her that you weren't just making an excuse to ditch her, would be to decline but make plans for another day (or just say something casual like "but how about tomorrow?"). To let he know that you're still interested, you should try asking her next time (and soon).

Sorry but I agree :( Eragon is basically one book (or series, I should say) full of stolen ideas. You're better off reading works by J.R. Tolkein, Anne McCaffrey, David Eddings, Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman or even watching Star Wars :? I LOVE to read. When I can find books that spark my interest, I usually go through 700 pages a day. Then depending upon how good the book was, I usually read it again right after :lol: Some of my favourites include: His Dark Materials series The Lord of the Rings series / The Hobbit The Da Vinci Code The Harry Potter series Pride and Prejudice Chronicles of Narnia

I guess it could work if you're trying to copy the RuneScape font, but it still looks unattractive in my opinion. [*:25v0adzq]3. The text, "Because you can't chin strength" ? is too small. [*:25v0adzq]4. I don't like the edges of the background. I it makes the background look messy.
