  1. I had a 2 Mega Pixel, 6+ year old camera until just recently  But photography definitely opens up if you get a nice camera.. it's like a whole new world. Can't wait to see more of your shots :)
  2. Lookin' good :) A few comments/suggestions: #1 I like this one, but I think it could have been framed better. I would have moved forward or to the side so that the flower pedal on the right wasn't in the image. With close-up flowers especially, you want to clearly single out your subject. I think we can all agree that you're focusing on the flower in the middle, so try not to cut it off or have things blocking it. #2 I really like the colour in this one :) My main critique is that it's too crowded :( Since it seems like your camera cannot obtain a shallow depth of field to blur out the background flowers (I may be wrong, but I get that impression), I probably would have found a pink flower on its own, rather than one grouped with at least 3 others. It looks like there may be a few in the background, but I could be wrong. #3 I like the colours here too, but I'm not really a fan of the subject. It's almost hard to tell what it is. But I do like that you were able to get more of a blurred background (due to the fact that the objects in the bg were farther away). Keep it up :)
  3. I haven't personally seen any negative responses. But I'm sure that if there are any, the admins and mods are not accepting of them. Chances are that they just didn't see the negative comment. If you do see one, REPORT IT. That is the most efficient and effective way to get the spam/flames cleared up.
  4. I like it :) I think the swirl looks great. The main problem I see is that the character really blends in with the background. They're both dark and similar colours. Other than that, I think it looks nice :)

Agreed. The rock is definitely a little too busy and I agree about the darker shadows/harsher highlights. Since it's so detailed, my eyes don't know where to look first :ohnoes: But it is very nicely done :) I like how you wrote "Grasle" too!

Thank you!! Thanks a lot :) I live in a small town in California.. about 45 minutes south of San Francisco :) The pond where I took these photos is about a 10-15 minute walk from my house.

Thanks so much you guys :D :D Haha I know, isn't he the cutest!? He charges a hefty fee though.. a loaf of bread an hour!
  8. That's a great idea. It might even inspire more people to write articles, if they can find something on the sticky that they would love to write about. I rarely read the Tip.it Times, as there's rarely a topic that interests me. Most of the topics that I've seen are just about things that are already being discussed in General Discussion.
  9. Well.. I guess I'm pretty hypocritical on this idea, actually. I used to have a lot of guy friends, mostly because the girls in my area are definitely not people that I could ever have a serious/interesting conversation with. The guys were always so much more down to earth (things have changed a little bit in high school though..... now most of the guys are just as bad as the girls, but in a different way). However, I always get extremely jealous when my boyfriend is friends with girls. I definitely trust my boyfriend, but the girls are far less trustworthy :P Half of them seem to be obsessed with him, which makes me very protective :P
  10. Sio was also an admin ;) Congratulations to Alduron & Siobhana, Our Newest Admins
  11. Congratulations :) Keep up the good work!
  12. Can only think of two at the moment, but I know there are loads others that I only remember when they actually happen: 1. Similar to the OP #4, I can't stand it when someone (or a group of friends) just stops in the middle of a doorway, blocking everyone else's way and is oblivious to the fact that there's a whole line of people trying to get through the door. 2. Guys who wear WAY too much cologne. I don't like cologne that much to begin with, but some people seriously overuse it, and if you're stuck in a small space with them (like a car), it's suffocating.....

Thank you! :D Sorry I already claimed him 8-)
  14. 1/10. I'm not really a fan of using RuneScape chat screenshots as signatures/avatars. Furthermore, I don't like the way it was resized. The image looks squished and slightly difficult to read.

Thank you! :D I have a Canon 450D (XSi) and in these pictures I was using a 100mm f/2.8 USM Maco lens.

I walked down to the pond today, in hopes of getting some duck photos. When I got to the pond, there wasn't a single animal in sight :( Feeling pretty disappointed, I started taking pictures of some nearby flowers: After about 5 shots, I saw something moving out of the corner of my eye. Thinking it was just a person walking to the pool, I kept taking pictures. The object kept moving, but didn't seem to be getting that much closer so I finally decided to check it out... it was my ducky!! This little guy turned out to be such a wonderful subject. He kept getting too close to me, to the point where I couldn't fit his whole head in the frame, so I kept having to back up. Finally, I ended up sitting down to snap some pictures, and he walked right over and started inspecting/pecking at my shoe, looking for food :D He was as real cutie. [hide=8 Images]#1 - What a natural model! #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7 - This one is a little more edited than usual, which is why I also included the original (above). #8 [/hide]
  17. My current password is 26 characters containing random numbers, letters and symbols 8-)
  18. Agreed. What's so stupid (or nerdy) about having a little fun in your life?
  19. Agreed. I also noticed quite a bit of repetition: i.e. three tree trunk pictures, the only difference being the position of the tree. Try upping the contrast and experimenting with different subjects, rather than staying with the same thing.
  20. You have two options: When you make a reply to a post, below the text box where you type your reply, you'll notice that there are several options with check boxes: [ ] Disable BBCode [ ] Disable smilies [ ] Do not automatically parse URLs [ ] Notify me when a reply is posted Simply check the last option if you want a reply to be sent to you. OR If you always want that box checked by default, go to your User Control Panel, click on Board Preferences, then click on Edit Posting Defaults. Or you can follow this link: ucp.php?i=prefs&mode=post Switch the last option ("Notify me upon replies by default") to "Yes."
  21. Thanks you guys Adding a few more that I took yesterday and today..
  22. *Does research* Canon 450D (with the EF 100mm f2.8 USM Macro?) That's right :) Yes I know what you mean about the branches.. but look at that bokeh! <33 haha. I definitely do have to work on getting the droplets sharper and hopefully you'll be seeing some better ones soon. I know that #3 is particularly blurry, but I like that there's almost a sideways heart-shaped reflection in the drop :P Thank you :) I love droplets too, heheh. Thanks for all the comments you guys :)
  23. It's been ages since I've posted anything in The Gallery.. or even Tip.it.. So I thought I'd share a few pics: [hide=6 Images]#1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 [/hide] [hide=7 Images]#1 #2 #3 #4 #5 This one has been edited in Photoshop a bit. #6 #7 [/hide] The only post-processing on any of these (except #5) is RAW -> JPEG conversion, resizing, and, in one or two pics, minor level/contrast adjustments.
  24. Tripsis - I wanted to find a word that had a 'real' meaning, but was uncommon or not widely known. So I put something like "Unique words" into Google, found 'Tripsis,' looked it up, and found out it meant, "(n) The process of shampooing." So I thought it was cool and have been using it ever since.
  25. Wow you're quite the shallow cynic.. You can speak for yourself all you want, but certainly don't speak for everyone when you say that. -- My current boyfriend conveniently fits everything that I would look for in a guy ;) Sweet, cute, funny, cuddly, smart, doesn't feel like he has to live up to a "manly" stereotype (like the guys at my school who actually go around saying that they have to prove that they're "manly" by cooking steaks and shooting things all the time), isn't afraid to admit to liking "girly" movies/music, enjoys things like cuddling under the stars or just watching a bunch of movies in bed all day, doesn't drink/do drugs/smoke.. etc.
