  1. If you're referring to the signatures updating every 24 hours, Peter talked to a Jagex Mod and they confirmed that it was not breaking any rules. They actually update every 12 hours. :P That's what I said.. :anxious: Stop editing my posts to make me look bad Peter! :shame:

  3. I honestly think that excuse about the writers' strike is BS. The script for Harry Potter was written before that... I'm sure they just think they'll get more money from the movie if it's released during the Summer.
  4. http://backlinemedia.com/2008/08/14/har ... d-to-2009/ Part of me just died inside. That's what.. an EIGHT MONTH delay!?! But on the bright side, maybe now I'll get to see it with my boyfriend
  5. All we need is the e-mail address changed to this link: account_problem.php And glad to hear I'm not the only one who has been having problems! :ohnoes: Hopefully Peter or someone else can look into this.
  6. I think it is a very valid reason and it has been used in the past. When I was an admin, I used to get PMs asking: "Hey, I'm hosting a contest in Off-Topic. Can you please give the winner a custom rank?" and our answer was always no. Why? Because there are a bunch of contests hosted by users on Tip.it, and if one contest was given a custom rank as a prize (other than our official Rank Contest), then it wouldn't be fair to the other users who want one too. And if we give out custom ranks for EVERY contest, then they don't become special anymore. Consistency is very important when making decisions in order to be fair to everybody.
  7. Because it makes them look really cool and important  How sweet of you. Try to contribute something useful if you're going to post. And as I said earlier, you will find nothing in The Rules that states only moderators may post in colour.
  8. I pretty much agree with what others have said. What makes XBOX Live so special? If there's a box for XBOX Live, people will want a box for WoW or LOTRO or other major games. Certain games cannot be given special treatment or attention, because then people who play other games will want the same features. Just create a thread in the Video Games & Consoles forum, as someone suggested :)
  9. So you go though 935 pages of topics in Help and Advice? Maybe delete 300 of those pages? I doubt everyone reads back that far. Not necessarily in Help & Advice, but many people do look through tens of pages in forums that are interesting to read (discussion forums, Rate This forums with impressive achievements, etc.). In certain forums, old topics used to be pruned. If this action has ceased, then I don't see any reason why topics can't be pruned in certain forums (Help & Advice, Graveyard Help & Advice, etc.).. for similar reasons as to why topics are pruned in the Marketplace and Clan Recruitment. Old help topics just aren't needed anymore. But in forums like General Discussion, RuneScape Bugs & Suggestions, Off-Topic, and other DISCUSSION forums, etc., threads should not be pruned. People constantly reference old threads, use the Search function to locate old threads, some people actually do look through tens of pages in forums (mostly forums like Rate This or The Gallery).
  10. I'm pretty sure that's a default "Incorrect login" message that came with phpBB3 by default. I'm sure the Staff didn't hand-write that message. But it probably would be best to get it changed :) And Peter already knows this and it's somewhat unrelated, but has anyone else been having trouble with resetting their password? I'd be interested in seeing if I was the only one. I have been unable to reset my password using the "Forgot my password" feature. All of the new passwords that are e-mailed to me are still deemed as incorrect. It wasn't until I had an administrator manually change my password *giggles* that I could finally log in.
  11. Sounds more like a mooch than a friend. Good move on kicking him out. People like that can't continue having their way when they're not in their own "territory." They need to learn to respect other peoples' rules in their own houses (and that can be extended to other situations).

All the time during sad movies: Armageddon, Moulin Rouge, Titanic... And then there are the moments where I laugh so much that I get tears in my eyes :P
  13. No one is ever going to have an equal chance no matter what type of contest you do. Why not do a great variety of contest types just because a majority of users don't have the designated skill involved? I have no artistic programs on my comp, yet I don't care if there is a contest for smileys that could possibly earn the winner a custom rank, why? Because in the end it'll benefit me. Why is Tip.It going to not do something that will benefit the community because of complainers who don't know what is obviously good for them? Like it's a custom rank, woohoo, there will be other rank contests...>.> That was always my general thinking. No matter WHAT kind of contest we have - you need skill. If it's a caption contest, you need to be clever or humerous. If it's a "Draw something about the Tip.it Staff" you need creativity, etc. Not everyone has those skills. The reason why I discouraged a Rank Contest for this idea is simply because of the amount of complaints the Staff have gotten in the past. I mean if we DON'T involve art, writing, etc. in the Rank Contests, the Staff will quickly run out of ideas if they haven't already.
  14. Thank you so much for getting these up and running Peter! :D It's great to see what was once a mere discussion turn into reality. I'd imagine that anything can be uploaded as long as it's G-rated. I'm assuming it has to coincide with the Tip.it Forum Rules and Tip.it Signature Rules in terms of appropriateness. But an official response would be helpful :)

Same here :P They're the only positions I really find comfortable.
  16. That was what I meant ;) It is still a contest that everyone may partake in, but it is not a Rank Contest.
  17. I'm not sure if this is still being done, but when I was on Staff I used to prune moved/lock threads once they reached the end of page one. By that time we can assume that the author of the thread has read why their thread was locked or located where their thread was moved to. If this is still being done - great. If not, it would be nice if some of the moderators would look into it (at least in the more popular forums: General Discussion, Help & Advice and Off-Topic).
  18. I think it would be fun to have people design from The Gallery or wherever some smilies for us as a contest (not necessarily a rank contest, because I'm sure the Staff would get a lot of "I'm artistically challenged - that's not fair!" complaints). It would be a lot of fun to see what people come up with.
  19. I don't really see a use for forum points. I mean what would you "buy?" You mentioned Tip.it avatars - well most people have their own - and custom ranks - but we have the Rank Contest specifically for that. I have been against a rating system in the past, but I honestly don't have a problem with trying it out as long as there's a MOD for it that will suit our needs/wishes. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work, no harm done. Naturally there would have to be some limits (how many ratings you can give per day, etc.). Clearly it's a popular idea so I don't see any harm in trying it out. Oftentimes people just say "No" every time it's suggested because "The idea was rejected before," but don't really stop to think about it again. As long as limits are set, I don't think it would do too much harm (if any) and as others have said, it may be kind of fun.

After getting very few sleep the past few nights, I woke up at about 8:45 to go out to breakfast which was a real blow. I don't think I've ever felt so tired in my entire life. But I went out to breakfast nonetheless. I came home and hit the sack for about 2-3 hours. Then my parents' friends came over for a little bit and brought their dog, which was pretty hilarious because he was terrified of my cat. I socialized for a bit and then went back to bed for another hour or so. Then I went on Lord of the Rings Online but didn't really do much. After that I read the LOTRO forums and Tip.it for a bit. Then I fed my cat and now I'm waiting for my sleepy head boyfriend to wake up
  21. There is no official Tip.it Chat. Any "Tip.it" Chats out there are 100% unofficial.
  22. I knew I shouldn't have made forum posts or talked to people on MSN while drunk, what have I agreed to now?! You promised to use your admin powers to help me take over the world :( I'm psyched for the release! \
  23. It is allowed :) However there are some specific guidelines for how often you may bump your thread. I would recommend reading the Recruitment Board Rules thread to learn more about them.
  24. I mean think about it: back in the day was YEARS ago. If your group of friends at school are CURRENTLY 13-16, then some of them weren't even teenagers yet when they started playing RuneScape. When you're young, you're usually naive and aren't aware of how many great games are out there, so you usually fall in love with one of the first games you see (in this case - RuneScape). I'm willing to bet that your friends have all moved on, while you haven't. You fell in love with RuneScape and haven't yet lost your desire to play. Your friends have probably moved on to "Bigger and better things" (WoW, etc.). It's not necessarily that RuneScape has gotten a bad reputation, it's just that there are so many other games out there with incredible graphics and a more mature crowd.
  25. I agree with what Laikrob said. It is so unnoticeable because it is at the bottom of the signature. It is easy to overlook and assume it is actually apart of the users' signature (like a quote or something).
