  1. I don't like it when people swear for no reason, sort of like what Ginger_Warrior said. I know a few people who talk like this: "I was like [bleep]ing doing this, right? And then this [bleep]ing girl came over and started [bleep]ing me out for no [bleep]ing reason. So I was like, 'what the [bleep]?' - right?" It drives me nuts, decreases my ability to concentrate on what they're trying to get across to me, and just sounds tacky. It's completely unnecessary to talk like that. But the I don't have a problem with the occasional swear word to express emotion, because then it actually has a purpose and isn't just there for cosmetic reasons.
  2. I hate that :wall: Totally the same with me. I really don't think there's anything I do specifically when I'm alone that I will not/cannot do in front of another person. Anything that I would do privately (occasionally sing, write a few poems, make something on PhotoShop, etc.), I do in front of my boyfriend.
  3. You cannot request specific colours because one that may look better for you, may look worse for someone else. Moderators are allowed to do this because if they edit a post in the default colour, the changes will probably go unnoticed. And if you reread the rules, I think you'll find that moderators are not the only people who may use different colours.
  4. May I kindly say [/topic] :D. May I kindly say "Not [/topic]?" ;) That doesn't work if you have text/quotes in your signature, which do count towards the dimension limits.
  5. Well for me anyway, I can view the properties or information of an image. Doing that lets me see the file name, file type, image dimensions, image file size, etc. all in one.
  6. Everyones' problem - definitely. I live in a pretty wealthy area, so the opposite of the "ghetto" if you will, and I can name tens of people who I know/knew, went to school with or go to school with who are in rehab, have gotten expelled/suspended from high school due to drugs, have gotten kicked out of their house due to drugs, and/or have alcohol/drug problems. Not pretty..
  7. That would be nice, but I'm not really sure if that's possible to do with text? If you want to check the height/width on your own, you can take a screenshot of your signature and then check the dimensions of the screenshot. I used to do that all the time as a moderator/admin to check to see if signatures were within the limits. It only takes a few seconds.
  8. Boredom, lack of motivation, and a better game that captures my interest.. and it already happened :P For the most part, RuneScape is pretty much unchanging. Sure they add/change tidbits here and there, but it's still the same grind towards the same goal. Getting from level 1 to level 99 doesn't change, and how you get there doesn't really change either. After a while it's just kind of... meh.
  9. Congratulations Val!!! :D 10/10 of course!!
  10. tripsis replied to bet you fail's topic in Off-Topic
If you know anything about cameras/photography, my friend's dad who is "hobby photographer" has made a some money from eBay by buying/selling camera lenses. He buys old lenses in groups, cleans them up a bit, takes sample photos with the lenses to paste in the description and sells them for profit. He's made several thousand dollars so far. One of the most important ways to sell your product is to show off your knowledge of the product. People who put one or two sentences describing the product features don't look very knowledgeable and therefore don't look very reliable. Prove that you know your stuff by thoroughly and accurately explaining the product (including sample photos with the lenses he was selling really helped my friend's dad out in this sense).
  11. I love the first three!! Really, really great job. I love the colour schemes and great job on the smudging. The only other one that I really like is "Emerge" or whatever you want to call ilt. It's not perfect, but it's my favourite out of the "Random Stuff." The others just don't really grab my attention. The first one (of "Random Stuff") has too much going on and there isn't anything to focus on. I'm not a fan of the second probably primarily because of the black and white. It just doesn't catch my eye enough. The third one is actually pretty nice okay but I feel like it could use a little something extra and I'm not a huge fan of the man render. He just doesn't seem to fit in with the style of the background. I love the lighting in the fourth one ("Emerge"), which is probably the main reason why I like it. The right side is a little too washed out I think, but other than that I really like it. The last one looks pretty cool, but it's nothing to go crazy over. All in all, nice job :)
  12. I've seen some total rulebreaking threads in wrong forum around here, and all a moderator does after seeing the report, is move and leave a message. I dont think any of them actually reads the content. I may be wrong, and probably am, but this is what i have seen to be done (I dont blame you, i know how busy mods work can be) I doubt that's true. Most reporters don't even specify which forum the thread should be moved to, so the moderators have to read the thread to decide for themselves.
  13. Darn. Wish I had sent my entry in later now #-o . It would have been way better. Ah well, guess I will just have to wait for the next one. It doesn't mean it HAS to be funny ;) All kinds of entries are good whether it's funny, clever or just creative/original. I always try to encourage people to wait until one of the last days of the contest to send in their entry. If you have a good idea, that's great - write it down somewhere. But there is always a chance that you will come up with a better one!! So wait until the last or second to last day to submit it.
  14. Rule-breaking threads pop up in EVERY forum, but that doesn't mean that we need to fix it with an extra subforum. As previously stated, non-RuneScape-related rants belong in Off-Topic.
  15. On that note, I've won two custom rank contests (over 3 years ago) but haven't had my custom rank ever since the board jump over 2 years ago. How do I get that back? (The one Admin I talked to about it couldn't help me, can someone please?) I still get it don't I? Or do they expire? You will have to PM an administrator about that. If the admin you talked to said s/he discussed it with the team and they decided that they cannot get your rank back, then that's unfortunate. Ranks do not expire but yours was lost during the board jump a few years ago. Because your win of the rank contest is no longer on record, the admins may not be able to compensate you. But if you want to try your luck, PM an admin.
  16. Because, if you are trying to back away from meat, why would you eat something in a shape of meat? Because you're still not eating meat...? The shape of the food has nothing to do with whether or not it contains meat. As long as you're not eating meat you're not being hypocritical. Vegetarians don't advocate against meat-SHAPED products, they advocate against meat itself. So if they're not eating meat, they're not doing anything wrong.
  17. Saw the movie tonight.. it wasn't great (I didn't expect it to be), but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I hated the new actress for Evelyn but other than that, it wasn't too bad. Of course it doesn't even compare to the first two, but I still enjoyed it.
  18. Thanks for the clarification Phil :) In the past the three winners' entries have been listed. Hopefully that will happen again this time :)
  19. If you win the contest, you will be able to customize your current generic rank. So instead of it saying "Chicken Feather" etc., it will be able to say whatever you want (within limits).
  20. I agree. The first Dumbledore's death was a terrible loss, but they could have at least found a similar actor, kept the same wardrobe and personality. But they morphed him completely :wall: The first Dumbledore was exactly how he should be: a clever, wise, humerous old man. This new actor seems so... remorse, cynical and unfriendly.
  21. 1. A lot of the people I know do not eat meat because of the way it is produced. Animals in farm factories receive terrible treatment and even abuse. Most of the times they are killed in non-humane ways (tie a cow up to the ceiling by its feet, slit its throat and let it bleed to death). 2. How is it hypocritical to eat vegetarian food that is in the shape of another food that contains meat? Personally, I would love to be a vegetarian. I already eat very few meats simply because I've never really liked it. My diet is mostly restricted to poultry out of pure preference. But I already have a terrible diet and know that I would be worse off if I stopped eating meat all together. I don't eat many other foods that are high in protein. However, I do make a point to buy free range meat, which makes me feel a little better about it.
  22. That wouldn't work. People need to edit their first posts all the time for reasons not related to requesting a lock. But I agree that it is annoying. A global announcement saying that threads will not be locked on request might be helpful.
  23. This is like saying I spoiled the Bible by saying Jesus dies on the cross man Hardly.. there is no need to be a jerk and to try and ruin it for people who have not read the book.
  24. I actually think it looks really cool, Stilev! :D I'm a huge fan of the colours and I think everything works together pretty well. Nice job :)
