Longest movie ever...
I agree with the Return of the King "nomination." But its length does not degrade the film at all. Every second of the film was precious, in my opinion.

The Dark Knight [Tag all spoilers, please]
Heath Ledger really did remind me of a combination of Jack Sparrow, Sweeney Todd and Barty Crouch Jr.. but nonetheless he did a fantastic job in the role. Not everyone can act like that even if he is similar to those characters (and others).

California Fires
I have not been affected but my mom is paranoid. We live in a "high fire risk" area (in addition to earthquakes because we're right smack on the San Andreas Fault) so my mom is constantly running around saying, "OMG I SMELL SMOKE! ARE THE FIRES HERE!?!?!?!"

5 -> 15
And what is wrong with that, if I was correct in my previous post? We wouldn't be scamming anyone, and we'd probably get some form of 'latency' with the 'online' system. 5 minutes is good for a fast PM, but a lot of users re-appear on the forums after 2 minutes of refreshing the page, as it went from 72 users, to 50, to 74, to 80, 87, back down to 69. It was at 4am eastern when I did this. At this point it's just personal preference. I don't like trying to make ourselves look good through things other than website/forum features. "Who is online" is a cosmetic feature and if we used it to make ourselves look better, it's trying to give ourselves a leg up by showing off how many active users we have. To me it just seems more like bragging than trying to advertise the site by creating fun new features. And those numbers don't really prove much unless you noticed that the same users were drifting offline and online. It could have been completely different users logging on. I've never really had that problem, but for a moderator/Admin it could have been annoying, for regular users, I doubt it, unless they are creating an event (TET), or discussing something in a forum topic (Some kind of player-event, or player-made 'game' topic, or picture topic). Anyways, simple fix is to have two different timers, 1 for 'Online', and 1 for 'who is online'. Would be much more flexible. It hasn't really happened to me when sending official PMs. It has only happened to me (noticeably) when PMing friends for fun. I would notice that one of my friends was online and I'd send them a message and then they'd appear offline a minute or so later.

The Dark Knight [Tag all spoilers, please]
Reminds me of Barty Crouch Jr from Harry Potter :P He constantly sticked his tongue out as well. Anyway I saw the movie 2 nights ago and I loved it. I think it was great because in my opinion, the best kind of villain is one who is psychologically derranged and you can only have a good superhero movie with a good villain. As everyone has said previously, the villain was absolutely incredible and therefore made the movie great. He didn't scare people with weapons but with his entire nature. [hide=Spoiler]The details in the movie were fantastic. I loved the little things that made The Joker scary.. everything from his appearance to his various costumes, etc. I love the part when he and a few other people in masks pop out of the truck that says "Slaughter." I loved those little tiny details.[/hide]

GREAT job both you & Peter. It wouldn't be half as what it was without what you contributed to this as well (and others, who worked behind the scenes). : Just because you're no longer an Admin doesn't mean you get no credit. Thanks skatedog :) I really appreciate it!!

5 -> 15
I disagree entirely. It is very, very, very rare that it takes me five minutes to read through a page in a thread or post a topic. And it never takes me more than 5 minutes to create a topic. If I am creating a long topic then I usually write it out on a writing application before posting it on Tip.it.. and I'm sure that most of our users don't create a topic that takes more than 5 minutes to write up on a daily basis (and if that's untrue, then I have no idea how it could possibly take 5 minutes). I honestly don't even see why this is such a big issue... who cares what other people think about us? Who cares if they see that we have less active users than we really do (even though I disagree with that)? Although I disagree with your post entirely, skatedog111, this is such a trivial "issue" that I couldn't care less how it turns out. The only reason I can think of to want to increase the time period is to make ourselves look better. I get that impression from your post and from all the other posts that agree with you. We are not making ourselves look bad by having the limit be five.. and quite frankly, anyone who judges a fansite based on the number of current online users is just ridiculous. I already have problems with PMing someone who I thought was online (because of the list), just to find out that they had gone inactive several minutes ago. But like I said, I couldn't care less what the number is. I disagree with changing it, but it's so trivial that it hardly matters, lol.

Insect Macro Photos (third one added)
Great work - as always!! :D Those pictures of the fly are incredible!

Voluntary Work
If you enjoy what you will be doing then go for it - by all means!! But if you won't enjoy the process or the kind of work that you will be doing, then it would be best not to go. It is nice that you want to help out others but this sounds like a 10 month commitment.. which is huge. So you have to love the work or you will quickly lose interest, or become tired/bored/homesick/etc.

Suggest a Style: PHPBB3
I could do that but I'd have to change the style just for that link because none of the phpBB links are underlined by default. :P I'll add it to my list to look at. Thank you :ohnoes: If you come up with another (easier) way to make it stand out, then go for it. I just think that it should look like a link in some way rather than regular text.

In the Tip.it skin, would it be possible to have our RSN's underlined to make it actually look like it is a link, so people know they can click on it?

Tip.It Rank Contest
Stories and anything else that includes a lot of reading isn't a good idea. You have to think about the judging part of the contest. How many entries do the Staff get? Usually around 75-250 or so. Now can you imagine the Staff all reading 75-250 short stories? And no offense, but I'm sure a number of them aren't even very interesting (since not everyone on the forum is a writer, but most people want a chance at the custom rank). Thats just.. not reasonable. Here are a few of my random ideas/thoughts: [*:11pj8gjy]I agree with Laikrob about creating new ranks. It was brought up before and is a fun idea. [*:11pj8gjy]Re-design the Tip.it logo (it wouldn't actually be used, but it could be a lot of fun). [*:11pj8gjy]Create a Tip.it Mascot that best represents our website/forum. [*:11pj8gjy]Caption contests are always fun, as a few other people have suggested. It was done about a year ago, but I guess it could be done again if that's what people want most. I may add more later.

And why do we have to live up to an "image?" We have no obligation to make ourselves look better or anything of the sort. We don't have to pretend to have more active users than we actually do (which would essentially be what we're doing if we changed it to 15 minutes). From what I understand, you want to increase it so we can get a larger number of active members, correct? And you want to do that because it will look better and encourage people to create an account. Well if that's the case, people will be joining our forum under false pretenses. There is absolutely no reason to mislead users to gain a few more members and/or make ourselves look better.

Weird name? Why not a normal name?
Well for starters, if you want to use a "normal" name, you probably have to add in numbers unless you're one of the first game users. I know a lot of people prefer to not have numbers in their username so they'd rather come up with a unique name without numbers. I for one, would probably enjoy having the username "Ashley" but I wouldn't want "Ashley126."
- dream job

Teen Decapitated At Six Flags
Agreed. It was a really stupid thing to do. It's not the theme park's fault in any way.. if he's stupid enough to knowingly pass signs that say, "Danger Zone," "Do Not Enter" and "Authorized Personnel Only," then I don't have any sympathy for him.

I too would like to see some more skins.. it's sad to have people working hard on skins for us and then just have them go ignored.

books and movies (and other forms of literature)
Don't get me wrong - I love movies.. but I prefer a good book over a good movie any day. Books give you so much room for using your imagination whereas movies kind of spell it all out of you and make you watch someone elses' imagination at work. A good book always gets me really excited when I read it :P And there's always so much more detail in books than in movies.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
John Hannah WAS Jonathan in the previous movies. So he is still the same actor. Only Evelyn has been changed (and Alex because he's grown up now, I think?) and Ardeth Bay just won't exist, which is a shame but makes sense because Imhotep won't be involved. Sorry - double post.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
In my opinion, if they can't get all of the old actors, they shouldn't make a new movie. New actors usually just ruin it for me and contribute to the typical poor quality of a second/third/etc. movie. Nevertheless, I will be seeing the movie anyway just because I love the first too :P
