ROW is still junk for pvm
i'd agree but then the whole game would be too "conquered" in a sense (by those like quyneax haha) and rs would be more of a math class than a game plus, people would be more pissed off when jagex gives out the 1/x drop for claws, and people kill x tds and rage(quit). Knowing my luck it I'd kill liek 3x then give up, and that is why I don't kill bosses. Best drop ever is dragon plateskirt lol If a given item's drop rate is 1/x, then if you kill 3x of the monster, you have about a 95% chance of obtaining that item over the 3x kills. By saying that, I mean if you killed 3x of the monsters a large number of times, you would get at least one drop of the item in 95% of the large number of times. While this may seem high, it also says that if you took a large number of people and had each of them kill 3x of the monster, about 95% of them would get at least one drop of the item. So 5% or 1 in 20 would not get the item which with the several million people that play rs means there are still thousands that, statistically, would not receive the drop after 3x kills.

[POLL] Is Dungeoneering a FAILURE?
That would actually be a fairly interesting idea, though only if there was a modest (say 10%) exp bonus for "risky" dungeons, you could choose whether or not to make a dungeon "risky," and having a teammate die doesn't screw the whole group over.

Guide to efficient dungeoneering C2 fishing/skilling. {wip}
One thing I've noticed about dropping while fishing, while it's not possible to drop every single fish you get, if you drop every other one you can do it losslessly. Doing that, combined with dropping any extras while clearing gds /running usually lets me have very little time standing still dropping.

At what point is it appropriate to kick someone from a floor for not listening? I assume for a first offense, unless unusually severe, I should suck it up and finish the floor, especially since I'm not a ranked keyer. Also, if hosting a floor, am I obligated to take anyone in the CC who wishes to join, or if I have some reason, personal or otherwise, for not wishing to take someone is it allowed to pass them up? edit: Not that this is currently an issue, just for future reference.- Dungeoneering / Fishing
I did 26 c2s yesterday/today, noting how long each took (using the ingame timer) , how many fish caught per floor, and exp gained per floor. [hide] Floor Time Fish Caught Exp gained on floor 4 2:22 0 0 5 6:54 55 7767 6 6:00 53 8109 7 7:57 86 12222 8 6:26 65 9351 9 4:33 0 0 10 6:07 60 8964 11 4:43 12 1620 12 8:28 57 8235 13 7:34 57 8253 14 6:28 44 6318 15 6:34 35 4725 16 7:18 96 13356 17 3:39 12 1620 18 10:13 59 8379 19 8:50 32 4698 20 10:45 116 16416 21 7:03 67 9558 22 7:29 60 8946 23 7:39 41 6273 25 4:09 23 3321 26 5:24 36 6183 27 5:11 46 6183 28 7:01 42 8932.5 29 7:24 81 8932.5 Total: 166:11 1235 178362 Avg: 6:38:50 49.4 7134.48 [/hide] A few floors were removed because I messed up the data, but total over the 26 floors I gained 189k fishing xp. I presume this would be higher at 90+ fishing (I'm only 85,) but how much, around 10%? Also, what is the average floor time of a 5:1 c1? I remember seeing someone say 2 minutes/floor was decent, so going by 2 minutes/floor and accounting all extra time to fishing, it comes out to around 95k fish xp/hr. Not factoring in a time value for completing the floor, it is around 68k fish xp/hr. I will continue keep track whenever I c2, as it won't hurt to have more information.- 200M in all Skills

Yeh or you could find the exact by doing this http://[Censored - Don't use a URL shortner]/fdf4jW inb4 math nerd Except that's not right. Since the bonus rate changes every half hour exactly, simply averaging them suffices. If the rate changed continuously based on some function, then, yes, the integral would be the exact value but in this case it does not change continuously, so not only is that integral overkill, it's wrong. http://[Censored - Don't use a URL shortner]/i41Goc Scroll to the middle of the page of this and click on the picture Goodfight 1.) That page is for the March 2010 Bonus XP weekend. 2.) If you had read the article for that weekend, you would know how, although that formula was supposed to work, in practice it failed and gave different xp rates for that weekend. 3.) All of my numbers are from the devblog for the March 2011 event which, unless jagex is pulling a big switcheroo on us again, are the values that will be used for the event.- 200M in all Skills

I think it's like 1.7x 1.695x Thanks :) For reference, the way to calculate is to sum up the rates for each half hour, and divide by the total number of them, since each rate is for the same time period. This gives (2.7+2.55+2.4+2.25+2.1+2+1.9+1.8+1.7+1.6+1.5+1.45+1.4+1.35+1.3+1.25+1.2+1.175+1.15+1.125)/20=1.695.- 200M in all Skills

- My plan on dg binds
Obviously i wouldnt fish during the floors i key. I've been lucky enough to DG with people who either share the food drops or share what they have fished. It turns a 35 minute floor into a 40 minute floor at most. 5 minute delay for 13% extra exp is worth it. No it's not. 5 minutes is 14.3% of 35 and if you only gain 13% extra exp you're losing 1.3%.- My plan on dg binds
I would rather stick with w117 and w148 as aposed to DG Sweepers. With w148/w117 it's normal to skill if your survival depends on it (by this i mean Fishing and Cutting some logs for a fire). In DSG i've found that if you're on the brink of death its either you Soul Split yourself up to full LP, hope to the gods you get a food drop, or suicide for full LP. Fishing is frowned upon. Stick to w148/w117. Floors are 20-40% faster in DGS than 148 on average, one death loses you 13% exp. I die MAYBE 1/5 floors I do, and I key. It's pretty hard to die as DPS unless you're really bad at praying or you get extremely unlucky with not having enough for an altar. As a keyer, I won't flip out if there's nothing to do and someone fishes, but I will say that it's very rare for the fish to get cooked before we find a GD that drops more than enough food for everyone to survive. The no fishing isn't just to be a [bleep] and ensure everyone dies, it's just that fishing is legitimately a waste of time 90% of the time, and nobody has to die for that to be true. That said, if your attitude is that we make up arbitrary [cabbage] to get you killed, yeah, you probably suck enough that we don't want you anyway. Not all GDs have great food drops. Mind you i've seen quite a large portion of the that drop a few Heims and Red-Eyes and nothing more. And i'm not referring to everyone in my previous statement but some of the members in the group (and i don't want to mention any names) find it "leechy" behaviour when you're 5 seconds late on a GGS call because you don't wish to die for the 3rd/4th time. Sure floors might be a bit faster (i won't go with 20 - 40%, maybe 10% [15% at the most]) but the 13% exp loss on death kind of makes the time saved worthless at the end of the day. On more than half od the occasions i've done floors with DGS i (and atleast 1 or 2 other members of the groups) would die atleast once. Oh and i love how the kids alway run straight at the personal insults. Shows a lot about the kind of person you are :roll: if you've died 3x already you might as well give the floor up and help finish it as fast as possible, your xp is already shot.- 08-Mar-2011 Artisans Workshop

Frequency and length most certainately have to do with how good a task is. If a bad task takes a long time it is worse than a bad task that doesn't last long because you are getting bad xp for longer. Similarly if a good task is assigned often it is better than a good task that is assigned very rarely because you are getting good xp more often. A task taking twice as long has the same effect as a task being twice as likely to be assigned except that assignment rate effects slayer points got/spent which I think is unimportant in the greater scheme of things. Yes I take the max rate I will NOT include profit because it isn't important for what I wanted to use it for. Like I said earlier the formula is adaptable and you can add boredom, afkness and profit (read back if you don't know how to measure boredom). Adding them does result in a meaningful number. It combines the comparisons it has with the other (max) tasks in an equal way, note that multiplying them together does not work because then Jad and mages would have a 0 base efficiency. Also if you cared about slayer 3 times more than effigies and summoning the formula would be like B = 3x (slayer) + (summoning) + (effigies) But, by ranking a good task that is rarely assigned badly since it is rarely assigned, you are saying it's a bad task to do and someone might get confused and think they should skip/block that task, when in reality they should definitely do the task, it just doesn't come often so it's not something you can expect to do consistently.- Need TD advice
