Melee, Ranging, and Two Slight Diversions
Are you sure +2 str > +19 slash? indeed i am. i have used rune defender there before and THE EXTRA SLASH MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. with super sets, piety and a salve amulet(e) you will amost always be hitting. ive done 2 trips to test this. one with obby shield (+5 str) and rune defender (+5 str and +19 slash) and the exp was only 1k/hr higher for the defender which can simply be down to luck (your never going to hit exactly the same between 2 trips). im sure if i did the test enough time that the split would be 50/50 on which one gets the most exp in the hour the +2 strength will help more. ill test this to prove my hypothesis when i have time and the will to You honestly think 2 strength will give you 1k bonus xp? It probably won't even raise your max hit, only increasing your average hit every so slightly. Wait, first you say +19 slash doesnt make any diff, then you say +2 str doesnt make any diff either. What to pick then? Also, the results you had may have also been lucky in the obby shields case. I mean, you might have been very lucky that hour and gotten 1k more than what you would normally gain. That would make the difference 2k already. Same applies for defender, with an unlucky hour. 3k difference... You can't just play with "statistical fluctuations" to prove everything you want. Note: I'm not saying you're not right (dfs might be = rdef), just that it's very cheap to "abuse" the principle of statistical fluctuations.

A Guide to Hunting Waterfiends
G maul is a decent special weapon. The 150k price really isin't much to consider, although I would just stick with D Mace. Regen Bracelet might help if you are bunyip or Unicorn tanking, and are just slightly dipping into the food, although Barrows gloves are best if you are fine as is. I'd personally never give up my barrow gloves for anything but void. Also, it's not the price of the maul that decides it's usefulness (you can resell anyway). It's the inventory space and the loss of another speccing weapon that decides wether it's good to bring one. This leads me to the conclusion that you shouldn't bring a maul. SGS, enchanted excalibur, D mace, maybe even dds are all better options.

I tend to reply only when I disagree. I mean, what does another "Nice article" contribute to the discussion. Same goes for every other topic. "+1" doesn't contribute, except if it's a poll.

Ouch, mine takes 15 seconds too now.

It really wasn't that complex, he just made it look complicated. I felt like he thought the reader is stupid with the over explanation of simple stuff. So in successive posts, we have complaints that: 1. It was too complicated. 2. It was simple and condescending. Thank you for proving my point. The community can never be satisfied. Kid meant the basic concept of the article was simple but the author just explained it poorly.

KBD attack is magic, but isn't magic defense based (or something, anyway, pros should protect just as much as karil), so you should use proselyte, according to zarfot.

Time for armoury and weapons update for 120+ cb players?
Dude, 1 billion is 1000 millions, meaning 1.000.000.000 coins. I think you meant 100 millions =) There is an easy way to make PvP armour usefull. Just make it last forever, but only useable in PvP worlds. And new 120+ combat gear without K0ing people with 1-2 hits is also not hard. Just make it non-useable in PvP worlds and PvP minigames. Maybe this will happen someday  No, He means 1 Billion. (yes 1000m, not 100m..) And the PvP armor suggestion is moronic. I'd just get a group of friends, all grab a statius set, and camp bandos (or insert boss here) in a PvP world. A group of people in statius + Vesta Longs would rip through bandos (or other) much easier than normal.. and no ones going to go try to pk one alone.. they'd just pile the person... The suggestion isn't moronic at all. Fist of all, look at the amount of pvp worlds: it's minimal. 5 worlds or what? Wow, gonna have a lot of influence. Second of all: Bandos is already ridiclously easy. It's not like that pvp armour would change a lot. Maybe increase the killing spead by 5-10%, and that on 5 worlds, wow, big deal. On top of that, clans will be fighting for the few world there are, so I hope you will have A LOT of friends with you... Same thing applies to every other boss monster. Really ,the suggestion of Elchris is IMO one of the best suggestions of this thread. It would make GS prices crash though. (since they are mostly used in ... pvp)

Nobody would, the author just complicated things way more than what was needed. Sorry but I find it very poorly explained of the author.

Hmm, did another test with z spear. Both tests had perfect conditions. This is the result (112/hour). So spear IS better, but just by a little.

I liked the concept of the scientifc article, since that's how I play (I do a lot of research, timing, etc...), but I find it badly explained. Really, it isn't that difficult, but this article made it seem like that. Also, I think the author forgot about the fact that you can sell your unstrung yew longs for about the same price (sp?), whereas you are stuck with unstrung maples. (I might have missed the part where he did include the selling cost, I admit that I didn't finish the article because of the unneeded complicating of things) I dont know abot you, but I find it fun trying to maximize my xp and comparing methods. That's what keeps me going when doing a skill for a long time (for instance when I did my 16k bursts at rock lobsters)

Sadly enough, it really is a business. Nearly no one seems to do skills they like anymore (Or they grind a skill so much they start to dislike it)

I recently made my house bigger and it seems to take longer now. Havent timed it yet, but I will soon.

7.5m - A good Dag Kings trip maybe?
Anti++ are just plain too hard to get. With an excalibre or SGS it's easy, just bring 3-4 rows of antis and the rest ponys. You really never need any pots whatsoever besides 1-2 restores for the ponys. They really aren't that hard to get, I used to have about 400 Anti++ and 300 Anti+, they skyrocketed at one point though so I sold them off. When I do my max trips I bring like 6 Anti++, 2 Super Restores and 2 brews. And rest uni pouches? That's a lot of pouches :o

Godsword isn't that bad at fiends... Stats are in siggy. I'm getting about the same rates with z spear (107 crimsons an hour max so far)

A better way to slay Dagannoths! ~Revamped!~
You use them on the helm recharging it every 100 or so scrolls, it auto uses them randomly (it seems to fire them off massively quick in the CT). It should be noted you don't get any exp from the scroll ability and if you get the kill solely via the scrolls you will not get any drops as it doesn't count as your kill. As it auto activates you can melee them with the slayer helm (black mask can't be enchanted). Hmm, that's a bummer. (no xp)

Melee, Ranging, and Two Slight Diversions
Ouch Maybe you forgot potting up? Or you spend more time dropping bones and shifting the monkies than actually attacking?

A better way to slay Dagannoths! ~Revamped!~
Wait, you used 1k scrolls in 25 minutes? Did you just spamclick the scroll bar and didn't bother meleeing yourself? Please explain? If you did (and didn't use any melee, so black mask bonus is neglected), this might be a good alternative to waterfiends for some people. (around 100 crimsons an hour + magic xp, breaking nearly even) (allthough waterfiends is up to 115 crimsons an hour and making around 50-100k)

If it are grey chins, that's normal. Red chins should give you easily 300k+ though.

Addy arrowtips. When you are patient with selling the tips, you pay like 1.5gp/xp, if not less.

A Guide to Hunting Waterfiends
Wait, you mean 115 with void + ss and 110 with bandos + ss, right? And on the excalibur: Isn't an SGS better? It has 2 specials AND restores prayer. I haven't figured out the average healing of it, but hitting a 55 sgs spec is pretty darn handy. (just went on fiend trip) Now my records so far (first time with uni and piety): I recorded 2 trips: Setup: Void Zammy spear 2 super sets 11-12 pray pots Piety 1 unicorn (trips of 45-55 min) First trip: 107 crimsons an hour (80 in 44min30s) Perfect trip, no crowds Second trip: 95 crimsons an hour (87 in 55min) (took brews instead of super def) Pretty crowdy :( EDIT: I tried using SGS as my main weapon and got this: I'm surprised how good this is. It's about as good as z spear. I have to add that I had the full area for myself when using that sgs, so further testing is needed. Also, the SGS prayer bonus let me last around 10 minutes longer per trip, which adds up. (and might make up for the slightly lower rate)

Dusties -VS- Cockroach Soldiers
IMO dust devils are very overrated for their crimson charms. The rate is lower than 1/3 but higher than 1/4. I recently did a test on cockroaches and I came out that it should be possible to get around 50 crimsons an hour there. I think the number for dusties is pretty similar.

Dragon claws/Dragon plate pieces Droprates?
I got 3 Dragon Claws in 25 kills. Following that logic would indicate the drop rate is 1/8. Though I'm at about 60 kills now, and nothing since then. Judging from others, I'd say 1/100 is pretty accurate. Ruined Dragon pieces are definitely rarer, though. @3 claws in 25 kills. [bleep] YOU! WTF LOL :wall: Tijger is right. You seem to lack some mathematical insight but that's allright. You play Runescape after all.

i don't have a 99. so leave me alone -.-
I understand the process involved in getting a quest cape. I have a quest cape. That is why I state that getting a quest cape is easier, simply because it doesn't involve doing the same thing over and over. Plus the other reasons I already outlined, which you completely ignored. I think your rant, and the million other rants with almost identical wording, can be fixed by this: Get a 99. If it's so easy, and the insults are affecting you this badly, just get a 99. Or, see a psychiatrist. You have to understand that you're just developing a persecution complex, like everyone else. "BAWWW, people pick on me because I'm too skinny." "BAWWW, people call me names because I'm using an adamant scimitar." "BAWWW, people comprehensively demolish every last tenet of my cherished religion." Everyone's got problems. If you can't deal with someone claiming that their account is superior to yours because it is, you need to rethink your priorities. (Man, I'm really channeling /r9k/ tonight) Why should he get one? I am also very annoyed by this stupid race to skill capes. All those lvl 85's that want a skill cape so badly and grind their way to it through cooking or fletching... That kind of people didn't exist before skill capes. Hell, I could get 99 cooking in 1-4 weeks, but I really see no reason why. Be number 70 000 to get it? Yay... I'd much rather get all my skills 80+ and get a taste of everything.
