  1. Oh really? Waterfiends themselve have a 75% (more or less) crimson drop rate, so I really doubt those easily killed roaches are better. Anyway, it's basicly what Zaaps said, all though he missed a very good one: Nechs. And tbh, dusties aren't all that great for crimson charms. They are very good melee xp and easy to camp, but I wouldn't ever consider camping them for summoning xp. The roaches actually do have a decent crimson drop rate. Go see for yourself. I do believe they have a good rate, but if it really was 3/4 then why the hell are people still at waterfiends?
  2. I guess you don't skill a lot? :P Personally I have: Money/recent stuff Runes/tele's Potions and food Herblore and farming Summoning Ores/bars/gems/tools and that kind of stuff Slayer and combat Junk/quest items I never use but might come in handy some time Herb run Hehe. Anyway, I've got something pertty similar. I still am thinking about changing it though, since it's not perfect Tele stuff (all kind of tele jewelry, law and dust runes (home has nearly all tele's), elf crystal, ecto, tele tabs, ....) Slayer and melee armour Runes and magic armour + staves + rcing stuff Ranging stuff (dhides, arrows, cannon, crystal bows, crossbows, bolts, void, ...) Food, pots, and farming stuff Skilling stuff (tinderboxes, logs, ores, gems, hides, battlestaves, moulds, sc hammers, ...) Summoning tab (including slayer heads) Quest and clue stuff + other things I rarely use Things I use a lot (outfits, whip, defender, dds, dragon boots, proselyte, merch stuff, money, ...) (actually part of this belongs in the melee tab)

  4. Up untill now, nearly every armour CAN be achieved without buying it. Want a bandos chestplate? Do Bandos GWD till you get one. Want dragon platebody? Do the quest and kill tormented demons for 2 more lumps. Want an elysian spirit shield? Go on a corp team and stay there for years. Want a 3a plate? Do clues till you drop (hehe, this can take a while). The armour is expensive cause it's hard to get, but it IS obtainable. Now, for lvl 80 or 90 gear, I think that armour should be EVEN HARDER to get. What would be the point of a bandos chestplate when they release a lvl 80 equivalent (non degradeable, etc) with better stats and which can be bought in a quest shop for 2M. Adding an armour that requires lvl 99 and making it easily accessible is another thing, since getting 99 in itself is already pretty hard. But lvl 80, c'mon... There will always be the cheap barrow alternative, which is still VERY good. Now, onto something else, that's been said already too: We DONT need better armour or weapons, IN PVP. Better weapons (higher hitting)? We are already able to KO somebody in 2 seconds (if we are lucky) Better armour? Fights are already 0 0 0 50 0 0 39 0 0 75 KO. Don't make it 0 0 0 0 0 50 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 *get's bored and logs off) More accurate weapons? Hmm, that sounds interesting. I love the accuracy of SC daggers in SC, and as long as the weapon wouldn't hit too high, it wouldn't be another KO tool. Now, for PvM: ALL bosses besides corporal beast have been solo'd. Still, you are asking for better gear to solo those monsters, which were probably meant to be killed in a team, even more easily. WTF I do agree that there should be higher lvl content for combat. But I fear they already gave us too much at too low lvls. IMO they should have made barrows require 80 defence, godsword require 85 attack, whip requiring 80 attack etc. That's where they belong (looking at how they are obtained).
  5. Very nicecly explained and all. I recently made a guide on chinning myself and it's handy to see what things I missed (or you missed). Gonna update my guide soon lol.

Gonna buy Zaff's staves, kill Bork, go to my kingdom and get popular again and perhaps start that black demon task.
  7. Are you even at zombie monkeys? You keep saying Monkey Guards. I think you are going too far back. First of al, it is skeletal monkies, not zombie monkies :-) Second of all, this is the first time I hear that problem. If you use my spot, and have the 5 monkies on you, they should all be able to reach you and shouldn't retreat. The only problem that could occur is that the monkies are losing their agressiveness. However, monkies spawnt from bones will always be agressive towards you (unless someone else walks past) so as long as you drop drop some bones every now and then, you should be fine.

Definitely. I can afford both just need the charms for 90. I just wondered if it was worth speeding up my summoning so I could use the unicorn if all I'm going to do is slay until I hit 99 defence. It seems it isn't so it can wait. Allright, that's very reasonable. Even at kbd, it's better to bring food and a lava titan / bob (if you're on ancients) than a unicorn. (I have to drop black hides when I bring unicorn, which is a big waste). Have fun on 99 def. After that, all your melee xp will be "wasted" :-)
  9. lol, this question pops up everytime someone of tif gets 99 summoning.
  10. bedman replied to cat666's topic in Help and Advice
As long as you'll get 90 summoning in the end :-) Cause generally, 88 summoning vs 86 summoning >>> 85 prayer vs 80 prayer
  11. I don't find this indepth.
  12. bedman replied to cat666's topic in Help and Advice
It's useful, but like you said, for slayer a bunyip is mostly enough. I only use it for scabarites, and maybe black demons in the future.
  13. A. A high level quest is an high level update -.- B. It gives people something to shoot for... Why make WGS require all quests done before you can start it? So people can't easily do something that requires dedication to achieve... A high-level quest is not a substantial high-level update, as it offers no difference in terms of content than if the requirement had been 10 levels lower, except to require a massive time dedication to a skill. If, for example, Jagex were to release a quest that required 80 herblore, I doubt that it would be hailed as a boon to high-level herblorists. Rather, it would be met with grumbles and groans from questers who can't access the exciting new content unless they train a skill that, for all intents and purposes, is prohibitively expensive and still has no benefits associated with a high level. Meanwhile, the herblorists who have level 80 already will do the quest, finish it, and their herblore level will once again be worthless to them. When making an update that targets a relatively small subset of players, the high level requirement needs to be properly justified. Just saying, "Yeah, this quest requires a high smithing level, so now high smithing is important," can feel arbitrary and unsatisfactory, and serves only to cut out the low-level players. A much smarter approach would be to involve high-level stuff in a way that scales down to lower levels as well. Summoning accomplished this well as a skill by spreading familiars of gradually increasing power over the entire level range all the way up to 99, such that almost every level-up gives some sort o incremental increase in the value of the skill. Stealing Creation is another example of such a solution, where level 80 is a significant advantage, but you can still play effectively with level 60, and you can join the fun even if you aren't so experienced. There's got to be an analogy here somewhere, but nothing comes to mind except putting ketchup on ice cream. You know the customers of your ice cream parlor want something exciting and new in their ice cream flavors...but that doesn't mean you should pull random condiments off your shelves and pour them on top of your ice cream. It will satisfy the demand for flavors that are "new," but it's more important to stick to your main goal, which is to make the best damn ice cream in town. Jagex shouldn't rely on simply putting a large number where, like ketchup, it isn't necessary and only detracts from the flavor of the ice cream...sorry, I better shut up now. :-# Very good post and I totally agree. Stealing creation is really well made, I really love the concept of that game (use your non combat skills in a minigame)
  14. I'd have to say Ahrims However, with a 3a amulet, inf boots, master wand, Arcane (or was it spectral) spirit shield, god cape and a seers ring, your base accuracy (74 I think) is already very decent, so with void on top of that, it might be close to as good as ahrims, if not a little bit better. Void IS the only option if you want a bit of ranged def through magic armour though.
  15. Wtf, how on earth do you get 330 crimsons / 1k barrages, when compfreak only gets 240, and other people report 330 at the NINE lob spot. Your rates are insane :o Did you use a ring of wealth?
  16. Thanks for the input. As soon as I get some more results I will make a "low level" rates section.
  17. Mostly, yes. If something is that good, it gets well known. Look at chinning, it didn't stay hidden that long, did it (longer than most good things though). These mummise have been out for a year now. Armoured zombies got "discovered" very quickly after the quest came out.
  18. Decided to do KBD for my Black drags task and I must say, I like it! I use a lava titan for quick banking trips. Each trip lasts less than 20 min and yields me around 8 kills. Baskets of strawberries just rock at this place (you have to wait 45 sec for a spawn, more than enough to empty a few and eat them). I bring 7 baskets and 12 monks, 1 pure set, prayer pot, 1 brew, 1 super restore, 1 antifire, 1 super antipoison Pretty good trip: At that rate, the kbd is around 500k profit an hour :o (and 60 + crimsons) Results would be even better if I use ancient teles and a BoB. Basicly a unicorn isnt that good here cause you wont have enough space to bank the hides.
  19. with fire giants would bunyip work and does any one know about mummies? Never heard about mummies, dont do them. For fire giants: with super defence pots, enhanced excalibur, full torag and a dfs you will surely last with a bunyip, it might even be overkill. Just make sure you dont get piled by them. Decrease your armour in steps (defender in stead of DFS, neitz in stead of torag helm, dds specs in stead of excalibur) till you dont make it. That's what you should wear.
  20. I used to get around 30-40 blues a trip, and a trip yielded me about 1k crimsosn, so yes, that's a normal amount. Btw, that's for the 7 lob spot or which one? EDIT: must be 9 lob one, otherwise the 7 lob one would be too good. FYI, bursting at the 9 lob spot got me 180k xp per 1k bursts

Oh I like him lately. My task list has been like this (more or less) Kalphites Black dragons Dust devils Kalphites (skipped) Dust devils Spiritual mages Nechs Bloodvelds Abby demons Greaters Aberrant spectres Black demons Abby demons Gargoyles (skipped) Abby demons Spiritual mages Abby demons Aberrant spectres Waterfiends Black demons Black drags (the exact order is a bit off, I did get 4 abby demon tasks within 10 taks though, and 2 dust devil tasks in row, not counting the kalphites I skipped) 3 boots and 1 whip as notable drops + a ton of crimson charms :-)
  22. Ah skirt isnt the best option anyway. Infinity bottoms is much much lighter, and that's what matters too, more than the magic bonus.
  23. I'd be glad to test it if I wasn't 99 ranged already. Now, I feel it as a bit of a waste TBH. I might test it some time, but don't count on it, I'm a bit lazy :D

I am certain that drop rate is higher than 1/700, it is somewhere around 1/400 to 1/450. Since it is a rate of 65k melee xp/h, that means you get 108.3 kills per hour, which is approximately 1/4 of a Whip every hour. Only taking that into account results in about 375k profit per hour, however the other drops are not worthless. On Slayer I get over 150k per hour from all drops exlcuding the Whip, so the average rate for off Slayer will be slightly less, around 125k. So it is about 500k profit per hour for camping Abyssal Demons. While you get about 35 crimsons per hour camping, you will get about 17 gold, 5 green and 2 blue charms. This is about 17k Summoning experience, maybe less depending on what you are able to make. If you add up all the experience gained, you get roughly (65,000+21,666+17,000) 103.7k experience. Armoured Zombies is (103,000+34,333+9000) 146.3k experience per hour (according to compfreak847, also the 9k is for experience form the charms). Also profit rates would be 500k and 190k respectively. In short, for Abyssal Demons to gain the same amount of experience as Armoured Zombies would in one hour, would take approximately 1.41 hours. In that amount of time you would gain 705.4k profit. Armoured Zombies now has 0.41 hours to make back the 895.4k (705.4+190). This requires about 2.18mil per hour to be made. After all that, what does it show? Absolutely nothing  . This thread was intended to show that Slayer "sucks" for combat experience by showing a method that is considered to be more efficient (and at my Slayer rates, Slayer wins). It isn't a comparison of a whole skill to one monster exactly, it is a comparison of the rate of combat experience gotten in each. P.S For picking up any drop (charms or otherwise), if timed right you lose no time at all. I like your facts and all but you got to realise your rates are very hard to obtain. I've recently been slaying and I can't give exact numbers, but a few times I did 10 minutes, or 1 hour samples and got MUCH lower rates. (fiends for instance, I got only 92 crimsons per hour last task, flicking piety mostly, and using Z spear. I reckon I could get up to 100+, but certainly not 140, yet my stats are only 5 lower than you) I don't claim your rates are impossible, but it seems that getting your slayer rates is quite a bit harder than getting comp's AZ rates. AZ's are much more simple. You don't have to quickly change gears and inventory, knowing what you'll need by heart and not forgetting anything. You don't have to know the best spot to place your cannon (I always forget that one...). You don't have to ... I'm 86 slayer, so I do have *some* experience with slayer, FYI.
  25. this is it. Total wealth is a bad parameter. Dragon spears for instance are very rare, but worth nearly nothing. Same goes for left half.
