Tip.It Times: 15 Mar 2009
Okay, I decided I will try to cover the mathematical content of the article in an hopefully more clear way. Let's get stated First of all, skills DO stand alone. With the GE, nearly anything can get sold easily. Example: Wanna train farming? Don't be an idiot and think you train it for free, because you get your seeds from you kingdom. Why? You are losing out on the opportunity to make MUCH more by putting your workers on fish. I dont have exact numbers but for instance: when investing 75k on fish you get 200k back, investing on maples get's you 120k back (including seeds or course, maples itself are making you lose money). Conclusion: Just be smart and put your money on fish, sell the fish, buy the seeds. Getting something yourself doesnt mean you get it for free. Allright, that's covered, now let's get onto the subject: We are comparing a) getting 70-80 woodcutting with yews + getting 70-80 fletching with yews. B) getting 70-80 woodcutting with yews + getting 70-80 fletching with maples. (thats another thing, the author first says "cutting logs and fletching the latter, but in both his case he is cutting yews) Both have the option of stringing or not. Comparing this is very easy. We will calculate how much time each method takes and how much it costs/makes. Then we compare those 2 data and we'll see for ourselves (based on you hourly income) whether it is worth it. Now some completely unnecessary data: [hide=Data for cutting]250 yews cut per hour 7134 yews to cut 28.53 hours cutting 3.089M profit[/hide] Why unnecessary? Because in BOTH cases, the player is cutting yews. There is NOTHING to compare. What you did before the fletching doesn't matter AT ALL. Both actions are independant. You don't HAVE TO keep your logs, you don't have to sell them either. If you do want to compare it with cutting maples (which is the most stupid thing you can do though), here's how (fyi). [hide=Comparing]7134 yews to cut 28.53 hours cutting 3.089M profit Maples: 450 maples cut per hour 12483 maples to cut 27.74 hours cutting 0.449M profit So, to save 0.79 hours (28.53-27.74), you are paying 2.640M gp. Thus, if you are making more than 3.341M an hour (2.640/0.79), go cut maples. if not, you better spend 0.79 hours more and make 2.640 more. (i.e. you are paying 2.640M to save 0.79 hours)[/hide] On to the fletching: Assumption: 1200 actions made an hour (1200 bows cut) I'm not adding in stringing, because strining a maple bow is a stupid thing to do. It's much cheaper to just buy and cut another maple log into a longbow (u). Maples: 32829 to fletch 27.35 hours The profits/costs are a bit harder to determine for maples, since they are considered as junk. Let's say they are worth 50gp each (lower than junk/GE price, higher than what shop pays). Thus, the profits are (50-36)*32829 = 459.6k Yews: 26383 to fletch 21.99 hours (432-429)*26383 = - 79.1k profit = 79.1k loss. Let's compare them: By doing yews, you save 5.36 hours, but you pay 538.7k more. This means, if you can make more than 100k an hour, do yews. THAT'S IT. Really, it's that simple. I'll put all that matters in a hide tag again, because I put a little bit of chit chat in between. Notice how short it is (and hopefully clear). [hide=summary]Maples: 32829 to fletch 27.35 hours The profits/costs are a bit harder to determine for maples, since they are considered as junk. Let's say they are worth 50gp each (lower than junk/GE price, higher than what shop pays). I'm not going as far as saying that my writing style will be as smoothly and all, but I'm pretty sure I could explain it MUCH clearer. And actually, if I find some spare time tonight, I will. Don't expect too much text though. Numbers say much more than words in this case.

Slayer Sucks
Just make a vid or meet in game please, I'm getting tired of you two saying the same thing over and over.
-
Slayer Sucks
Why dont you guys just meet up at gargs, and you, morningrise, show compfreak what you mean, cause I think there is a misunderstanding. Just show it in game, really is the easiest.
-
Slayer Sucks
Allthough I tend to agree with morningrise that compfreak underestimates the effect of combat familiars, I do agree that using a combat familiar at gargoyles is a stupid thing: There are only 2 gargoyles within an okay reach. How on earth do you let your familiar have one on your own without slowing yourself down?

There is time and money too, but the thing his, the author's calculations were unnecessarily complicated and totally flowed for the fact that they don't factor in SELLING of logs. So, at one point the author overcomlicates things, and at another point he simplifies things too much. I could expain the problem probably in 1/3 less text, but 3x more understandeable. Now don't get me wrong, it's nicely written and all, I probably couldn't do that better. But the content is just inaccurate.

The NERFED Bandos Agility Course
dump it guys, it's been nerfed...

17th March 2009 - The Chosen Commander|Route-finding Update
Ew looks like they nerfed the agility course. Apparently its now only 380xp a lap stead of 600xp TBH unless they have nerfed the fail rate as well this is kinda bs Wtf, I was looking forward training there, with the extra str xp and such, but no...

New 26k pvp method
 I know I would get this :-) Fist fight them better?

New 26k pvp method
I dont get Jagex. They obviously dont want players to do "the pvp trick", yet they refuse to think of a general solution. Banning air strikes. Wow, brilliant plan, players will just find something else? You don't cure a disease by removing some symptoms. Now on topic: Why is everyone suggesting bronze weaopns and stuff? Why any weapon at all, just fist them. Or isnt that allowed either?

Wow really? thats awesome, I'm gonna start buying from him again. Woot! Amazing little update

Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
Didn't expect "mr efficient" to wear a granite shield at armadyl. Do you realise it's melee defense stats are worse than a rune kite. You are protecting from range anyway...

What combat skill, Range or Mage, should I get 99 on? (F2P)
Lets see, ................Members...........................F2p Magic.........120k xp/h.........................75k xp/h (bolt enchanting/plank making, bursting opposed to alching) Ranged.......260k xp/h.........................35k xp/h (grey chins opposed to lesser demons or whatever) Melee.........100k xp/h.........................35k xp/h (armoured zombies compared to spiers or whatever) So xp wise, magic seems to be the closest to the rate of p2p. However, magic is the least ufeful of these 3 (for f2p, magic stops at 60, maybe 85 for teleblock). I'd pick melee or ranged because of the usefulness. If you plan on getting members soon, I'd postpone these 2 though and go for magic.

The NERFED Bandos Agility Course
From what it seems, this course seems a good replacement for ape atoll at high lvls (80-85+). However, we already have a very good replacement for ape atoll at those lvls: The dorgeshkaan course. I heard you can get up to 70k+ xp there.

Fastest 99s?
prayer, I heard it's over 500k an hour with mousekeys and pack yak. Besides that, flethcing high type bolts is like 300k + xp an hour. Burning yews is over 200k an hour Blackjacking menaphites is over 250k xp an hour Smithing addy plates with SC hammers is over 200k an hour (not counting time to get hammers) Making air battlestaves is 240k an hour Chinning with red chins is up to 340k xp an hour Making oak doors with SC hammers is up to 280k xp an hour (560 with sc hammers) Making sara brews is around 180k xp an hour Making wines is around 500k (?) an hour, but very expensive. Sharks is over 200k

Solo Zammy GWD
The few lvls wont make the difference. 84 82 83 or 85 85 85 is hardly a difference. I think you should be able to do it, but dont expect it to be efficient, and expect to tele out early from time to time. Get 90 90 90 .
-
should i powertrain 99str?
dont powertrain it at some boring monster like yaks.
-
Anyway to bring back smithing? or is it dead?
I like the idea of living up old skills but I disagree with what you are stating: Smithing isn't insanely expensive to lvl anymore. In fact, I can get 99 smithing with around 20M, at a rate of around 90k xp an hour (smithing arrowtips with sc hammers)

Melee Void Setup at Waterfiends
I don't intend to Dharok, haven't needed to even flick on protection prayers in my last 5 waterfiend trips using void, and would gladly pay a measly 10k for 10 more crimsons per trip :D Yeah, there is a difference. At first, I thought there wasn't (or a very small one), but afterwards, I realised that was because I didn't have optimal conditions when taking the data for the z spear. After a few trips, I had an "ultimate z spear" trip to compare to my "ultimate sgs trip". Generally speaking, I think the difference is around 5-10 crimsons an hour. Also, I think he meant 100k for 10 more crimsons. Lastly, on the 15% prayer thingy. I wouldn't know. Simply pietying all the time seems the easiest and really, i more than break even, so I dont mind.

Slayer Sucks
Magic experience is costly. Melee experience is quite easy to accumulate, as you've shown yourself. I share Inuashakent's sentiment that combat familiars should be used as often as possible. Off the top of my head, I can think of Abyssal Demons, Mithril Dragons, Dark Beasts and Wyverns as tasks that require healing/BOB familiars. While it's not 15k experience right off the bat, it's still enough to warrant the extra speed and experience of a combat familiar. Also, the point still stands that Slayer potentially trains eight skills at once. I'd rather get melee experience than magic from my fighter familiars. In fact, I'd wish I wasn't 99 magic already, since barraging for charms feels such a waste now. I wish I trained all my magic at rock lobsters (70 through 99).

To buy or not to buy!
Do you really find that tiny skirt good looking?
-
To buy or not to buy!
Looking at your stats, I'm guessing that buying those tassets would break your bank. Do NOT buy them. Why not? 1) + 2 str is nothing 2) + 1 prayer is nothing 3) defense, but ranged defence, is rubbish compared to barrows 4) 11.6M when you only have 12m? Big no There's so much more useful stuff you can buy with 11.6M

Melee Void Setup at Waterfiends
I recently timed some waterfiends trips and got these results: Void, Z spear, Piety, Unicorn 112 crimsons an hour 45-50 min trips (sgs for specs, 11 prayer pots, 2 s restores, 2 brews in stead of s def) Void, SGS, Piety, Unicorn 104 crimsons an hour 55-60 min trips (sgs for specs, 11 prayer pots, 2 s restores, 2 brews in stead of s def) Both tests were conducted on an emtpy world. I started timing as soon as I hit the first fiend, and stopped timing as soon as I picked up my last drop and tele'd. (so no banking time included) I did more tests, with similar results. The ones I'm posting here were those for optimal conditions. Also, I get like 170-250k worth of drops per trip, which more than pays for the pots. I don't have any non piety results yet.

Need help with Dagganoth Rex.
I find monks a pretty weird choice. I guess you don't like long trips. But if you do, bring sara brews (+ s restore) or baskets of strawberries.

DK's
Earth wave should be decent enough I guess (hits 19 or so?). I wouldn't waste money on ice burst + it could complicate luring a bit with the freezing. Once you hit 75, go for fire wave. GL
