 Done that. When I told my father I was involved with a guy I'd met in a chat room, he shrugged and said "It's socially acceptable for someone to fall in love with a penpal they've never met. Chat rooms are just a modern form of that." Five years on, that guy and I are engaged with a 19 month old son. What irritates me is when we're playing RS together and may call each other 'babe' or 'honey' and people tell us to get a real bf/gf. There's just no way to prove that we are a rl couple. And no, we don't circle each other, or get all over ebaringly obnoxiously cutesy.

Cause that might be too much effort? Parents often don't bother parenting much these days.

Did anyone else see the topic and think this was going to lead to a flame war about the combat triangle?
-
You pointed out a great fact about how many members say 5 dollars is nothing and then think they are so deserving with paying this "nothing". At any rate I would love a skill cape and believe deserve it just as much as the next guy. Now watch everyone jump and up down saying "But that's not the point! It's the principle of the matter!" And just to add again - HELL YES, F2P should get skillcapes.

What I find most annoying is that when someone rants about something stupid, people disagree in a polite way and the original poster starts with "OMG STOP FLAMING!" Disagreeing with someone does NOT automatically equal flaming.

FTW. Just completely and utterly FTW. =D> When I was flunking out of school, my parents got the Internet disconnected. So I reloaded an old game of Carmen Sandiego. They banned me from the computer except for homework. I watched TV. They banned me from the TV. I'd lay on my bed and play GameBoy. You cannot make someone do something they don't want to do. If you remove the choice, they'll find a third option.

What I like about that chat? The fact it gives me something fun to do while training. That I've gotten to know so many different people that usually I prolly wouldn't chat to. The fact that the other chatters can give me a quick answer to a question. Dragoon and Baby 'Chicky had a Warren Deal'. The fact that I can brag about lvling, complain about dying, stupid slayer tasks. The incredible support I got from the other chatters when I was finishing up my last couple of quests before getting the cape. Torti's appreciation society. -

I don't know for certain if the player in question was kicked (everyone I've spoken to about it says he was, haven't had a chance to ask the player himself yet), but I do know that a certain mod made comments about how 'wrong' and 'disgusting' before insisting that the player leave the chat. -
No one respects Capes of Achievements..

Let's apply that logic to the real world: You don't have a car? You're not allowed to comment on which car is better than another. You don't have a cat/dog/hamster? Don't talk about which is better or ways to house train them. You don't play professional sports? Don't comment on which team is better or what a bad team is doing wrong. Not in a romantic relationship? Don't give relationship advice. Don't have kids? Don't dare comment on the behaviour of children, what kind of job the parent is doing, and whether the kid is likely to end up jail or not. (Actually that last one is serious... hyper-defensive parents will jump down your throat screaming "You don't have ANY kids so you're not allowed an opinion) -
There's been much discussion, debate and argument recently over which skillcapes are more respected than others. Which lead me to wonder, when it's common knowledge that certain cape are less respected than others, why do people still continue to go for those capes. Which then made me wonder why people go for the capes they do. I've currently got a Quest Cape that I'm pretty pleased with, which I choose to get because I love questing and wanted something to show that. I'm currently trying to hit 99 woodcutting, because I want to make money easily and I have no intention of 'buying' a cape. Basically, because I;m lazy. So, tipiters, why have/did you choose that particular skill?

Chickybee32's Goals & Ambitions
ChickyBee32 replied to ChickyBee32's topic in BlogScape (Ongoing Progress Reports and Goals)
Well after many headaches, fdrustration, swearing, minor tantrums, chocolate, countless cups of coffee and some bribery from my dear hubby, I am now the very proud owner of a Quest Cape. I cannot thank those in the clan chat enough for their support, especially: Lady Heinous, for threatening to kick me if I didn't stop talking and complete Desert Treasure. Stefan Huber for donating 85 sharks for the RFD bosses. Giant Torti for being head of my own personal cheer squad. Gothic Gaara, who wanted to be with me when I bought the cape, and sulked when I confessed I couldn't wait! Syojatar, Zeus, Cappa Norris, Doom Tal and everyone else who put up with me complaining and whinging and continuously offered support and advice. \ You guys are champions. So at the moment, I'm working on woodcutting, slayer and possibly runecrafting. Other than the 99 wc goal and 100 combat, I have no specific goals. I'll be training combat via slayer, so I can make some money out of it as well. -

Much <3 to Giant Torti for reminding me I had this! So I've hit most of my goals for the questcape, now it's just a matter of actually doing the quests. I've tried Contact about 6 times, but just can't seem to succeed. So atm, I'm mostly focusing on my woodcutting. I'm up to lvl 93, and by gawd, it's getting boring! I'm cutting mainly yews and magics, or if those are too busy, willows. I'm at Barbarian Outpost, drop by and say 'hey!' And right now, I gotta give much love to the regulars in our clan chat for keeping me entertained. FRIED FRIARS! Baked Bishops!  -
Yes, in terms of effort and cost. The only thing that heading for 99 wc has cost me is the money for a dragon axe and time. When woodcutting, I'm usually chatting in clan chat, playing online poker and browsing the web, because other than to check for randoms and running to the bank when full, that is all I have to do. Lazy of me? Absolutely. I can't speak for everyone else, but I'm not 'bashing' anyone. Getting that 99 in any skill does take commitment. But there are skills where more effort and concentration is required than others and personally speaking, while I'm impressed with anyone who has a skillcape, the level of respect varies based on the cape itself and how they got there. If someone bought all the fish needed for 99 cooking, I'm less impressed than if they'd gone out and made potatos, pies, caught the fish themselves. YMMV of course..

Fishing or woodcutting. You point, click, wait till full, run to bank. Repeat. Buyable skills? fletching or cooking.

Nobody chooses to become addicted to something. Whether it be drugs, booze, cigarettes, chocolate, porn, runescape, other video games, I doubt anyone just woke up and thought "Oooh, what shall I do today? Oh I know! I'll become an addict!" I dunno, you choose to be addict at first then later you don't want to be addict. *returning late* How do you choose to be addicted to something? You can choose to try it out, you can choose to try it again, but I very much doubt that there's anyone out there who makes an effort to become an addict.

If you read the web page of rule 1, it says flooding the chat windows (spamming, repeating buy/selling something) is a breech of rule one because it makes the "game experience much less enjoyable for other players." Therefore, even if the spammer isn't vulgar, you should still report him for rule 1, offensive language. The link is... http://www.runescape.com/kbase/viewarti ... le_id=2071 Read it yourself. Way to tell someone how to do their job. -

Several things to say here: 1. The majority get sterotyped for the actions of the minority. 2. Don't be hypocrites.

And that's when they hire a new creative team.

+1 I don't think the 4 killing dragons were the ones being selfish -
Wow, have you even read the debate? There's just as many F2P saying 'Nah we don't deserve the skillcape' as there is P2P saying 'Give em the damn cape!' And it's not a campaign to give F2P the cape, its a debate.
