OK i need some help with getting the skull sceptre.
Doomster replied to o0SHRUX0o's topic in Help and Advice
Minotaurs, dead easy safespots. 1. Fence at the north end of the room to the east of the entrance, take the first left after the door! 2. Fence near the end zone, for the level 27's (portal to end and work back) - only recommended if the 12's are too busy, or if you want more combat xp from each. -
My main and my pure mage are both heavy fire strike users, so use minds & airs a lot. Since the mind path is long (and the quickest way is L4 wildy) with only 10% more XP per ess than airs, a sustainable running route seems unlikely, though if enough players wanting minds joined up with a high level crafter, it might be possible occasionally. The key to doing minds, is the multiple levels, 2x at level 14, 3x at 28, 4x at 42 and 5x at 56. If you normally do airs (2x @ 11, 3x @ 22, 4x @ 33, 5x @ 44 and 6x @ 55), then the "golden" times to do minds are from level 28 until 33 and level 42 to 44. I tend to alternaye them, based on whichever recahed to last multiple, with a burst of body runes from 20 to 28 - given the length of the mind route, I'd rather not do it for less than 3 runes per ess. As for earth strikes instead of fire, NO WAY, even though fire uses twice the airs, airs are less tedious to do than minds.

In Hijackthis, "FIX" generally equates to "Destroy this item", and HJT shows a mix of legitimate and illegitimate items in "high risk" areas. Self-repair is a problem with many malwares. Some other bad items in that report would seem to be: R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.ochnhfwxbxawxfxmzez.....PN8ji.html O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A6ACAE64-F798-4930-AD86-BD3FB32038DB} - C:\Program Files\Video Access ActiveX Object\isadd.dll (file missing)

Next question, do you want to ruin your level 3 skiller? I always thought the early levels went fast, aided by the dummies to get 8 attack. I tend to open with a few quests, Cooks assistant, Rune mysteries and Doric's (using a couple of dropped iron), then move to a steel pickaxe which also serves as my weapon until I can wield black

Carrying a lot of weight (even if you unarmour), so you can generally only run for 1 out of 2 return trips (with the bars, as they are lighter than the ores) - actually, that still tends to frain the run energy to zero, so maybe 1 in 3 is closer... not sure if you get regenerated run for a maze. You should get a tidy selection of randoms, trudging that route again and again.

OK i need some help with getting the skull sceptre.
Doomster replied to o0SHRUX0o's topic in Help and Advice
As a weapon, the sceptre is JUNK, it has the stats of a simple staff, but with no autocasting of spells. It is an awesome display piece, especially during the reindeer hat emote (works well with long weapons, such as this, or the blurite sword). The 3rd and 4th level pieces are a lot easier by magic or range, using safespots. For melee (any level), you would use the river to fish and the permanent fires nearby to cook, maybe 4-5 runs between banking. -
http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?p=3343035#3343035 The Ankou safespot appears in this post, the spot is on the south wall of the south room, close to the entrance. It is highly defensible, with a wide field of fire, though occasional pop-outs may occur if your target is not in clear range. You may be forced to eliminate the occasional skeleton, even if specifically taking on the Ankou - it's faster than trying to dodge them. Worked well, the spot is about 95% safe - unless one enters the spot while you are out to take a drop, it is rarely challenged. There are also enough Ankou in range that two players can stack on the same safespot without compromise. The Northeast room has cover spots that are frequently challenged, and only work when they are non-aggressive. Main Ankou drops, other than the sceptre piece (F2P drops) are: Law runes, coins (various), Noted ess, Noted mithril ore, Addy arrows

There is never a good time to be buying hardware, but if the next batch of midrange DX10 cards come out (8600?) and are better perming than the 7900, you will be feeling pretty sorry for yourself. The demands of Vista also make a 2x 1GB Dual channel memory system highly desirable. On a board with 4 memory slots, 2x 512MB now and another pair later is an alternative. Running a single 1GB in a dual channel sytem will result in single channel operation, with lower memory performance, and possible problems in getting a good enough matcgh for a dual channel pair later.

Maybe supply and demand will rebalance over time, but the previous chain evolved around fletching, with Oaks worth even less than ordinary logs. I did a K of Oaks in the original construction race, don't think they command the same prices now as they did during the early days.

If you die fast / eat lots while training, then you need to drop down a notch or two in your opposition. I have an Iron/Dragonhide hybrid pure (as I call it, a "green trouser pure"), armed with a rune scimmy, easy targers are 1 or two hit most of the times, while Ankou (proud owner of a full sceptre at level 34) are an eating contest. Just depends, if you want a Main and no longer care about a pure, convert it, but if you want a main and a pure, then you either convert to a main and make a new pure, or make a new main and develop this as a hybrid pure.
-
To be a "Rune Pure", you need to get defence to a maximum of 33-34 (for 40 after the quest) so that route would be full addy with ant-ifire. 40 Attack, Rune weapon, I'd say would be pretty much essential. I'd sacrifice a little food to carry tele runes, or the 1-space Skull Sceptre, if you can get the 3rd and 4th level pieces for that though, you probably won't need to use it! - though a low level can get them eventually, one Ankou or Catablepon at a time. If you like range, 40 and green dragonhide vambraces would be a plus.

Nice one Jagex-Quote DIRECTLY from Andrew
Doomster replied to Coandca5's topic in General Discussion
The "dynamic sig" issue is effectively the same as the "hotlinking images" problem - what makes it bad, is that every time an uncached access is made, the lookup willl be done - in many cases, where the result isn't actually cared about anyway. If this is not complied with voluntarily, anti-leech measures would make things awkward for all "outside" use of stats. So a "Jagex legal" stat sig (or progress bar) would need to be updated only on request, or perhaps they would also accept auto-update at intervals not shorter than a day. Bet tip.it are glad they didn't do a stat sig! -
I've been a firestrike fiend for so long, I've almost forgotten any other forms of training, though having high runecrafting (to get 4x minds on that long trip) helps a lot. Some of the more hairy (un)safe spots do need enough hitpoints to survive getting there and popping out for drops, if you want to take on red level monsters for better drops. One thing, if you combat train for mage XP, hitpoints and drops, then take some curse spells as well, this time, you want the spell to hit, as the 5% defence reduction should mean fewer misses. Though not "safe" going mage to mage with wizards using fire strike, has the greatest potential for collecting better runes, since the wizards drop a much higher proportion of assorted runes, including good ones like chaos, nats, laws. On the dark wizards, watch out for the level 20's, aggressive until you are over level 40, and packing considerably more punch than the level 7's.

Does Jagex have a backup business plan?
Doomster replied to Defender2516's topic in General Discussion
Jagex are, for better or worse, presumably pretty strongly commited to the Java platform, though what weaknesses that has compared to any other language is questionable, especially with Sun's open-source moves. Not sure, can you play Runescape in Linux? - write once, run anywhere, that's supposed to be the whole point of the bytecoded, JIT interpreted/compiled nature of Java. As for runescape (RS2), even if it entered a fade-down, it could still be a strong revenue stream, either in membership or ad-sponsored forms. Only an idiot would kill the goose, even if it wasnt laying quite as many golden eggs as before. I wonder, are we likely to see a new, or new version game using an "item buy" model, popular among some of the far eastern games that are now beginning to make incursions to the west, despite "infection" with aggressive anti-hack systems that have significant security issues. -
Problem with bind, if you use it first, you will skull! If the major irritant is mages, try switching to leather/dragonhide, at least their binds will be less likely to catch.
-
Higher runes are more XP (per ess), though airs can be FAST XP for a W16 crafter using runners. If abyssing, the highest rune you can make, is the highest XP, as the journey time is pretty much the same for all of them.

You can pick up a pie dish in the palace kitchen (or make one at 7 cradting ... pottery). Redberries, near the varrock east mine. Pot of flour (grain & pot to the mill north of Lumbridge, or buy in Port Sarim). Bucket/jug of water

I see you are unranked runcraft, so no making your own nats. 56 fletching, so you could spend your last day making a pile of maple longs. High alch 384, but not bad if you can make a load of them and then alch them in F2P - still a small profit. Watching stores for "dumping" is another option. If the stock is rising, you could also try calling out a better offer.
-
Way past the tele zone, questionable if its even worth carrying tele runes (to jump back to safety from level 20) while operating that far past the limit.

Run the stronghold for stripey socks (Fancy boots). For wealth, robes (t) or (g) are about the only way to show it on a level 3, other than an expensive wearable rare. Bronze or Iron have a big drawback, weight!. The "useless" yin/yang makeover amulet is another good display item.. I'll fly a suggestion... Priest robes (blacker than dark wizard) with dark wizard hat, makeover amulet and black cape. A cheap outfit, and go round saying things like "fear the shadow".
-
To equip the best bossible 1 def pure melee armour (F2P), you need 40 range... Iron full helm, Iron Platebody, Iron kite, Green dragonhide chaps, green dragonhide vambraces, cape (any colour), Stronghold boots (either type), amulet (power, strength or defence). Getting mage level up can help to resist magic attacks, and allow teleports and alching of drops. Getting hitpoints on a melee pure from range or mage is a matter of choice: 1. With no defence, hitpoints are your lifeline, more is better. 2. Hitpoints are 1/4 of a combat level each, and detract from your attacking power for equal combat level.

For a full rune warrior (or better), Trout/Salmon is plenty (provided by taking feathers & rod, using Pelsa's fire or axe/tinderbox - if you burn a lot, or want to dump the trout an load up with 100% Salmon, the you need your own firemaking stuff to cook by the fishing spot). Each run on Trout/Salmon normally lasts until they are non-aggressive, and the repeat runs are not that slow, when portalling back. With decent defence, it can be from 0-2 fish per kill, common to need a space before you need to eat. They can hit 8, but usually 0 or low through rune or better. If you do it on Trout/Salmon though, the only way is to fish and return - I find 100-200 are about enough, before the loot value makes banking a wise move. I gave up carrying tele runes there. They are more generous to P2P than to F2P (as while deaths are an F2P item, they are only dropped for P2P.

Shortbow (take the next level bow as wel, as you could level up there) and iron/bronze arrows against the Minotaurs will usually give you more arrows than you started with, save and shoot bronze as well as iron. Level 1 is truly the ranger paradise, unagressive monsters, easy safespots (fences for both the 12's and 27's) and arrow droppers, what more can a ranger ask for. Maging on level 1 is a similar tactic to range, while for melee, they don't hit particularly high. Level 2 has some "hard to work" safespots for the range/magers, a "slow" pair of Crawlers in the corridor to the est, for lower level melee. and a room full of "any level aggressive" Crawlers at the southeast to delight higher level melee fighters - the room to go to if you need their sceptre piece. Level 3, now it gets scary, the things here can hit you for 6, even as you bail out through the door. The catablepon have a rocksolid safespot on the west wall of the northwest room, though you'll take a couple of hits getting there. They are a grade A pain to melee fighters, with their weaken spell and melee combat, and also seem quite resistant to magic attacks. They can weaken and attack at the same time, so don't waste strength potions, they'll neutralize the potion in no time and still hit you as well. Level 4, the Ankou.... RESPECT: They can hit 8, and while they CAN be brought down by a rune weaponed Iron pure, it can be an eating contest. A couple of very fragile cover spots in the northwest room are only effective when they are no longer aggressive, while there is a spot that is a bit more defensible in the south room, second room to the east. They are a good target for crumble undead. One bonus for cheapskate prayer trainers, the level 1 rats on any floor (well 1 and 2 at lest, I think there are also rats on 3) drop bones, unlike rats in the open.

Ducks are good, so many of them that you just switch if a curse does take. Chasm mine scorpions, from the rim, are another possibility. A good curse target must not be able to hit back. One possible modification, take some mind and air runes, and if all your targets are cursed, then slip off the metal armor and wipe them out with earth strikes, then rinse & repeat. You can also fail curse the caged Lesser in the wizards tower, if a curse does take, then other players will probably be killing it, but you lose time while it respawns - once again, take some strikes to finish it with if you have to, and also take a telegrab in case it drops the rune med if you do kill it.

Definitely Dodge & run tactics, or the good old "mine and die" tactic. To do the mine and die, bank everything but your pickaxe and a few pieces of food. Dash through to the safe spot at the beginning of the ice chamber, eat back to full health. Run and mine, dodge and eat as required, try to get two blurite and then be sure to eat all your food unless you can escape - so you die with pickaxe and 2 blurite - and have those items in Lumby. You must not be skulled, of course!
