  1. What happened to FoM and BK? I have been out of the clan scene for years. [Was never properly in it TBH ;)] But I remember the times you couldn't move for hearing 'BK Ownz u'. >_> <_<
  2. Interesting article :D Ex-TORC member myself, A little dissapointed I saw no mention of Jennifer in the clan history there. Did I miss it? Or is the SE contingent not mentioned on purpose? Either way, shame.
  3. Naw, we're 'Debating' about how people are complaining in the rants forum. Makes all the difference! ;) Haha, well i'd just like to say it's GREAT to see some of the changes discussed here already being implimented. TIF mods pwn, k? I hope that the re-worked description/ranting guide will make a tangible difference. As for the hoard of flamers who pounce upon unruly topics? Well, perhaps I HAVE been guilty on a few [under-exageration?] counts. TBH I put it down to the itchy trigger finger syndrome. After seeing so many 'Rants' full of cliched nonsense, it becomes hard just report and pass on by. I remember a particularly interesting thread about 'Honour in the wilderness' that changed a lot of my previous opinions about the subject. And after reaching some [What I consider] pretty insightful conclusions on the subject - It's entirely irritating to see twelve other, totaly 'New' rants spring up the second that it reaches the second page of the board. I'm quite a confrontational person. PvP Addict. You know the score. [Heck, I believe in forced conscription - I'm a bloody FASCIST! o.O] However, perhaps being 'irritated' isnt a very good reason for exploding at a forum newb who didnt read the sticky/use the search button corectly. Will. Try. Harder. *Cuts off trigger finger* --- Back to the problem off the same same 'rants' being spammed out? I've been thinking. [Zomg, NO WAI?] Perhaps it's due to the limited set of things to rant about Runescape, while being pretty large as games go - IS still just a game. I mean, theres only SO much to talk about at the end of the day. It seems quite logical that the same rants should keep appearing, they are being made by [Generalization ahead - Proceed with caution] the same body of players, who play the same game, and get irritated by the same things. I know that I left the rants board, largely because of this 'Same' factor. And I can guess that people like Raichase and Toxicologist did too. We can relate to older debates like the F2P v P2P and Wilderness rants, but newer members of the board can't. They DIDNT debate these issues. Why not let them? We may have come to conclusions, but others may not have. A CAD forum i occasionally lurk in has this in their sticky: Isn't learning through constructive debate pretty much the aim here too? Let's not be selfish. We're all learnt up. Let's let others learn now? Or, not? 8-) - Gid.
  4. Great points made there, definately an issue which needed to be addressed. Not sure if it correctly fits the criteria for a rant about the game, but IMO it needed saying anyway. I'm about to write quite alot here, so if you don't want to read it all please scroll down to the bottom of my post. That way you can atleast read the suggestions I propose. I've been lurking here again for the last week or so - And I've made a couple of [what I think are] relevant observations: 1) The rants forum description appears quite contrary to what I had previously considered the purpose of this forum - Debate on the various elements on RuneScape Gameplay. That's what people see, and that's what people do. They vent. Sometimes we get lucky, and a 'rant' is typed out legibly and well thought out. But most of the time we get random mumblings and 'venting'. 2) Whilst being an excellent 'how to' guide to ranting - Ard Choille's sticky [The one which replaced Mullein's] Seems contradictory in parts: Vs The second quote promotes the well thought out type of rant that we all like to see. However, it seems to me that when most people 'blow off steam' they don't usually do it in the most well thought out and logical manner. When people are angry, all they care about is telling the rest of tip.it that they are angry. Thus we get a typo strewn, un-paragraphed, poorly planned 'rant' with little room for discussion. So, IMHO the problem we have stems from a mismatched conception of the PURPOSE of the rants forum. Possible solutions: The 'The latest update stinks because...' sticky appears to have been relatively succesful in stemming all the update spam. Good idea! Why not expand this idea further and create new stickies for other problem areas? Why not have a 'Customer Support stinks because...' and a 'The Runescape community stinks because...' sticky aswell? This may not completely solve the issue of people complaining - But it might put all the spam in one place, making it easier for the mods to regulate and easier for those of us who are tired of spam to ignore. Alternatively - As it seemed to me that the problem is perpetuated by misconceptions of the purpose of this forum. Why not split the forum? Remove the 'debating' element from the Rant's forum and allow people to simply 'vent their fustration'. Create a new forum specifically geared towards debating elements of gameplay. Perhaps this creates more work for the mods [sorry  ] but i'm sure it would reduce the amount of 'spam' and flaming. Grr, I wrote too much. :x  - Gid.
  5. Then stop posting. Sheesh. YOU beat a million other sperm? o.O Give the guy a break. I hadn't thought of usig this anti-scam technique. No I know. What harm has been done by posting this here? None at all. Thanks for the guide Grimgor. :) -Gid.
  6. W00t! Lineage 2! So glad that I quit RuneScape for it. My Storm Screamer just hit 78, on a 30x server. lol. 136k Karma FTW. -Gid.
  7. I trained my last pure at fire giant's for a few days before i quit RS. My pure was CB 47 at the time. With a highish range/mage level and safe spots - your CB lvl doesn't matter at all...
  8. Alternitavely add a 'Stealth Prayer/Spell' and 'Detect Stealth Prayer/Spell'. Yay. A new way for us to waste Runes and Prayer Pots. -Gid.
  9. I don't think he's saying that they don't know anything about God/gods, but that they profess that they don't know whether God/gods exist, thus making them ignorant (not knowing) in that one area. Exactly. :)
  10. Of course. But then you wouldn't really fall under the catergory of an Agnostic would you?
  11. Did they teach you that in church? Nope. I was told that by someone who I respect and has enough grounding on the subject to be believable. Not knowing whether a god exists. And that was the same source i found to decide it's legitimacy. However we must have drawn different conclusions. Don't know whether God exists? Then you're ignorant on the subject, and thus an ignoramus. Perhaps intent, however it still implys recklessness, which is my point concerning abortion. If you act in a reckless manner, then be prepared for the consequences. -Gid.
  12. Interesting sidenote - Did you know that 'Agnostic' was a Greek term directly translated from the Latin word 'Ignoramus'? Is He? Or is he a loving Father who mourns the sin we have brought upon ourselves? In the world He created for us: We chose the path we're on. Not God. I am a Christian. And this: Really makes me sad. People pretend to be advocates for Christ yet act in ways that totaly demean the message they are supposed to give. However, we see many examples where He does not choose perfect people to do his will (Jonah, Gideon, Moses.. etc). Perhaps our failings serve to greater honour God when he succeeds despite our inadequacies. I try to follow the teachings of Jesus, however I often slip up. I'm just fortunate that He's always there to pick me up and put me back on track. [Although sometimes that can be quite a painful experience] As for politics: I'm generally right wing. However the move of both Labour and Tory parties to the centre has left me wondering which fits my views more. I don't believe you can justify abortion by saying you made a 'Mistake'. When a childs life is at stake It's not right to be selfish. The right way to atone for said mistake would be to do ones best to give the child the best shot at life you can. Concerning UK law if you drink, and then commit an offence the fact that you were drunk is no defence. You know that getting drunk increases the chance you may commit an offence, thus you were reckless. The same should apply to abortion. You know the possible consequences of sleeping with someone beforehand, you should face up to the consequences of your actions and give the child a chance at life. Oh, and i'm anti-EU. ;) A countries sovereignty should not be willingly compromised, despite what possible economic benefits said compromises may bring. I understand now that leaving the EU is not a practical option, however I allow myself the indulgence of feeling slightly disgruntled. :P Gid-out. Roger that, captain. Alpha Bravo Two Delta!
  13. Well, I missed bunny ears and [Caution: Jagex Rule Violation]s. But I did manage to guess the pass off my first RS account. (I found it at the beggining of tururial island!) Recovery's set: Weird... Am I in? :P -Gid.
  14. :D This looks interesting. However I'm in the college library and have only ten minutes of typing time. ;) Just a quick post to address this point: Let's look at two examples. First ones imaginary. ;) Jimmy Chav, 21 years old. Born in Fleetwood [My town]. Went to primary school, dropped out of secondary at the age of 16. Never worked a day in his life and has lived of the state for the last 5 years of his life. I think this type of example fits the point your making. He is stealing from you, and enjoying his breakfast beers in the process. My Father. :P 40[something] years old. Worked since he was 23 years old, paying taxes every year. 15 odd years down the line, he finds himself in job which pays a lot less than those he's had in the past and has a little trouble paying for everything that needs paying for. Finally. He reaps some benefit from the taxes he paid all those years. You are not paying for my fathers welfare, he paid it himself over a 15 odd year period. Bah, I wanted to say more but i'm being kicked out of the library. I'll be back ;) -Gid.
  15. :D Just make a post in the clan recruitment forum. You'll get flooded with invites. ;) RS did become really lonely for me a while back, all i did was PK and it got pretty boring. I joined a clan and truly brought back a lot of the fun. Having said that, I quit said clan to start my pure. But my pure is now a main, so i'm looking for a clan again. o.O :D - Gid.
  16. It can depend upon many factors. Basically I consider level 70 and below 'Lower leveled'. Not counting skill or melee pures. I've never been much of a skiller however, my 79 only has a 700 and something total and my 92 only a 1100 and something total, so I have a lot of admiration for people with high skill totals/QP. For plain old melee levels you pass a certain boundary IMO after you get a 70 stat. But that's just me, right? -Gid.
  17. But both Runes and Arrows are finished products. The raw materials in this case would be Essence and Wood/Arrows/Ore... I thought that was obvious. -Gid.
  18. Agreed. To everybody who has said you would have logged out and reprted the bug, If you truly and utterly mean that - I salute you. However, I personally know my limits. I consider myself as a person of morality who always tries to do the 'right thing.' However I am only human. We all have failings, and faced with that sort of power I know exactly what I would have done. I wish I could honestly say I wouldn't, but I have to be honest - Right? Flame me for my honesty if you will, however I think too many people are jumping on the 'I'm a great guy and wouldn't even consider doing what that monster did!' bandwagon. If you mean it, then your a better person than me. If not, your really not decieving anyone. To do what Durial did would have been fun. Because truthfully, all sin is fun. Why do people sleep around, steal and cheat their friends? Because it's 'Fun'. The challenge for us is to avoid that temptation and act with integrity. What Durial did was wrong, he abused a major bug and slaughtered innocents. He broke the rules and deserves to be banned. However I can't honestly get on my high horse and condem him for his actions. For in his position I know that I too would have fallen victim to human nature. - Gid.
  19. Sorry for the bump, but I was wondering if how you guys think people who merchant from shops - EG Runes and Arrows fit into it all... :?
  20. Lvl 57 on my current account. I don't remember what on my 'Main'. It made traning a lot easier. Go for it. :) -Gid.
  21. One thing i've found with my pure is that Gear makes a big difference. When it was a lower level. It had a number of advantages: A) Rune scimitar where most impures had Addy B) High mage allowed for easier chasing and provided for hit's through full armour. (Basically eliminates and advantages defence gave the impures) C) Robes are easier to carry. Longer running, and out 'chasing' opponants. D) Although many impures could wear full addy/mith, they often didn't because it 'costs alot' to that level. However, once it passed level 60 PKing impures became much harder. The combat system evened out for a number of reasons. A) Everyone has Rune/Dragon weapons. B) Most players feel confident wearing full rune into the wilderness. C) Many players have the 'protect from mage' prayer. Taking away my mage advantage. D) My 'catching/chasing' advantages are negated due to all the impures carrying tele runes. Hence, I decided alot of the reasons pures 'own' at lower levels is the experience of the player. Pures are not afraid to bring their best equipment, and they generally know how to PK. As impures get more confident PKing, the 'Pure/impure imbalance' evens out in favour of the impures. F2P PKing for my level 71 pure, can be quite a challange because mage stops being powerful at higher levels. In P2P it's different. -Gid.
  22. Haha. I didn't know you, but have fun in KoL. ;) Phear the Sabre-Toothed Lime! :P -Gid.
  23. My first and only Clan War got crashed. Some lvl 123 non of us knew had joined our ranks. When we reached the Lava Maze he started attacking our Warlord. We quickly piled him, but as soon as he was dead about 50+ level 100+'s logged in. We were going for an Iron War, and there full rune quickly decimated us. :( Apparently the same clan which crashed us, crashed the guys we were going out to fight about 10 minutes earlier. It was quite dissapointing. But still interesting to watch the precision and co-ordination with which the crashers worked. Probably all on teamspeak. -Gid.
  24. Honestly, am I the only one who finds this even slightly un-ethical? Ok, the guys sound like jerks. But really you don't have to resort to lies and deceit. that's exactly what he did here. He drew them into the wilderness for a DM. that's where rules, terms and conditions are set down and agreed upon. I'm sure that 'I can use my level 70' wasn't part of the agreed on terms. Breaking the terms of a DM is really not acceptable. Why are you congratulating him for lying, cheating and quite frankly - Rule Breaking? :? How does adding zeros into an overused, moronic 'insult' make it any less stupid? Sorry for not feeling proud of our cheating friend, but i'm not sure we should be patting him on the back for his deceit. -Gid.
  25. Thus proclaimed Herod moments before he was consumed by worms. ;) -Gid.
