  1. But if someone who's been playing long enough and is dedicated enough to get 99 in a skill hasn't become a member already, would a skillcape really entice them to become a member when nothing else has? Excellent point. I think getting 99 in a skill, and then joining members, would most likely only serve to dull the glow of their acheivement.
  2. ... Because macro's don't care about shame, lol. They are code. Do you shout at your oven when your chicken is undercooked? :XD:
  3. Thank you Systemless. Good to see not all PCer's are the eletist jerks they come over as. As for me, i'll stick to hitting experiaments with sharp object's. That way I can call myself old school, and gain HP at the same time. Score! Maybe when I get my zerker's strength past 85 i'll come 'help' you PCer's.
  4. ... The topic was 'Well Known RS2 PKers' No?
  5. I don't know to be honest. I'm normally a staunch anti-F2P-update'er. But in this case, in F2P, where 99 stat's are an even greater acheivement than in P2P - It would be nice for them to have some form of recognition. I would usually say - 'Don't play video games for recognition, play for fun' - But there are great F2P'ers who have contributed so much to the RS community [Our own Lim_Dul anyone?] who get completely overlooked, and to be truthful - It isn't fair. Yes, I know lifes not fair - But it does seem awfully harsh. No?
  6. Are '8 Stealth 8' and 'I T H E X I' still around? I loved their vids. Also, T R I B 4 L made pretty hot F2P vids. EDIT: Tbh, can anyone link me to an 8 Stealth 8 video dl? I losted mine.
  7. Most people put chat on hide when merchanting, this means nobody needs to spam trade, and everything is shiny and clean. - Gid.
  8. Come on, lets be honest here. When your talking about F2P PKing - There isn't much 'heat' to the battle. It takes a long time to 'accidentally' kill a friend in F2P. If your dopey enough to not realize they are a friendly target after three to four hit's, then you'd have to be awfully unlucky to also have hit hard enough in those few hits to deal out any serious damage... Perhaps in deep wilderness group situations it could be a slight problem, but in those situations you should be looking for the name called by your leader anyway, so you would be carefully selecting who to focus fire on in any case. Am I wrong? - Gid.
  9. Perhaps I've got the wrong end of the stick here - But surely ANY P2P only feature would be beneficial to F2p should it be properly implemented. Isn't that the main feature of P2P? The ability to access content that is more beneficial than the stuff you get for free? :?
  10. Yep, I'll concede that when i P2P Pked, I usually wore my god cape. However, as a F2P - Looking at the disorganization of clan / team PKing that I was used to - I hadn't considered that it wouldn't be an issue in P2P. Perhaps I'm not insightful enough. ^_^ - Gid.
  11. Heh, I joined members because I grew tired of the PvP in F2p. Team capes were one of many irritations that contributed to that decision. On their own, maybe they aren't a factor. But it all adds up.
  12. Thanks, i'll treasure it! But Seriously - I debate to learn, not win. ;) Only by asking the simple questions first, and establishing basics can we solve more complex problems. IMHO, of course :P. Zubee originally asked whether Jadex should have complain to eBay or not, [Obviously ;)] this depends on whether or not RMTing is bad. So i'll repeat my question. Is RMTing bad? Give me a yes or no answer, with a few reasons explaining your view. - Gid. [Absolutes FTW].
  13. Really? Great! Where have they said this? And are they 'working on it' like they were 'working on' POH? ^_^
  14. Yes - F2p would benefit from Team Capes. Should / Will they get them? IMHO, no. The F2P wilderness if chockablock full of little irritations for players. Surely these irritations were specifically written into the game by Jadex, to give us scapers an extra incentive to shell out for members. Call me a conspiracy nut, but it makes a hellova lotta sense to me. What do the vast majority of gamers enjoy? PvP. Give members vastly improved ways of PvPing, and it'l certainly attract more attention. So no, I think the lack of Clan Cape-age in F2P is a good thing. Just a little extra incentive to join members. ... The question to pose that would fix the cape problem in F2P, should be: 'Phr33 cl4n 5upp0rt pl0x?' I don't think that team capes are satisfactory. RS needs formal clan support, grouping systems, clan chat channels and perhaps even a formal way of declaring a clan war. Pest Control, Castle Wars and other team based updates have attempted to put the 'Multiplayer' element in RS - If only Jadex could finish the job. - Gid.
  15. That makes sense. Did that article say anything about a relation to the amount of botters on the RMT permitted servers compared to the RMT disallowed servers? [i just woke up, and don't feel like searching through a wall of text ;)] There will always be people who claim to be wrongly banned, I long ago went through the 'care barrier' to their whines. What I was wondering, was whether or not it actually truly should be against the rules to RMT? Is it harmful to the game? Does it give some players an unfair advantage? Does RMTing make you a 'bad' person? What moral reasons are there against RMTing? As I see it, that's the real issue. Is RMTing bad? It's a simple question in my book. If it's bad - Don't permit it. If it ain't - Then go ahead! How is that different to buying gold? You buy an item, which you sell for gold in-game? I don't get it. In retail MMO's, I don't think i've been particularly bothered by RMTers. Theres always someone richer than me, it makes no difference whether they earned their gold ingame or IRL. I wouldn't call it a problem. However, in some private servers I have played, other people 'donating' for in-game items has frustrated me greatly. Donators pay to own. Pure and simple. There's nothing the regular guy can do about it, other than get a full party to take out one bloke. This is a big problem for me, and I think that should games be made with provisions for RMT being written into them - Then the designers would need to find a fool proof method of ensuring that the difference between RMTers and other players never grows too insurmountable. Until they can ensure this, don't bother.
  16. Hehe, thanks mate. Feels good to be back. :P Nuclear's under someone else's control now though. >_< I'll work my way back up with this level 60 newb. xD
  17. Heh, 123, he won't. Yup, but the damage is more angled towards damage per sec. Not the insane burst damage they themselves can pull off. Don't get me wrong here, I love pures. I've currently gone back to playing my old rune pure I never finished. However, I do accept that pures arent the best stat build around anymore.
  18. To be honest, I'm really unsure of where I stand on RMT's. Part of me wants to just shout "Just play the bloody game!" whilst the other half of me wonders whether it truly is harmful to the community? So here's my ambling, uncoordinated thoughts - ;) The bots RMT produces are definitely a problem. Would legalizing RMT's increase the number of bots? Or would it have no impact? Do the rules against RMTing criminalize many innocent / productive members of the community - Who were falsely accused? Does spending an hours RL wage in order to save yourself many hours of in-game 'toil' make you a bad person? I'm sure people who buy gold would argue that it allows them to enjoy the aspects of the game they wish to play - whilst nullifying the grind. It is a game, for recreation, after all. Gold farming sweatshops? This makes me sad. Perhaps by allowing RMT, and actually selling gold themselves - The game designers could undercut this market and make these sweatshops un-profitable? As for the bind on pickup system, it doesn't really work. I could name two guilds on my last WoW server who ran individual players through raid's to get their phat epix. For massive sum's of gold. Where do you think this gold comes from? Perhaps its slowed down now, due to TBC, but just wait a few more months. I'm done. ;) - Gid.
  19. Really believe that? Ok. Head to the duel arena. Take with you all your RS savings. Look for an impure staker who knows what he's doing. Willing to bet those savings? Now, i know Staking =/= PKing. However, we're simply talking 1v1 builds here. Assuming both players know what they are doing, the staker build > low def and high att + str. Mage / Range pures? At high levels, players can max range and mage whilst also training def to a suitable level. High range + def > High range - def. Simple.
  20. Wow Swampy! [still hate that? ;)] So much progress. Makes me glad! - Gid.
  21. 'No-Lifeing' is a label others may apply to you. The same goes for 'Nerd', 'Geek', 'Jock', 'Townie', 'Mosher' and even 'Prime Minister'. The trick to dealing with these labels is to remember that only YOU can define who you really are. [That sounded wrong, I don't believe in 'self empowerment', I believe our 'selves' are infinitely floored, my point is that others are floored also - And as such their words should have no bearing on how we see ourselves] Don't worry. Play when you want to play. For however long you want to play. Just don't sacrifice RL for a fantasy world. You posted this topic, so i'm sure you have a decent quantity of common sense. What do YOU think? If you think you've spend too much time playing - Stop playing. If you think you should study, go study. No work today? Go play. As for the Virtual games, Vs Physical games theme, i can see little difference. Different stimulus, same goal - Entertainment. That's all. Heh, do you honestly think Adulthood holds less stereotypes and preconceptions that Teenagerhood? Perhap's the prejudice's are more hidden - But doesn't that just make them all the more insidious? ;) - Gid. Edit: Why isn't my quote working? Grr.
  22. I've leveled a few pures, and I can identify with the bloke who said: Now, this mainly applies to melee pures. As mage's are generally better of farcasting. I would contend that THE reason pures 'own' is gear based. At low levels, a guy decked out in his full Mith / Addy set can put up a decent fight against a pure str character. Often beat it. However, how many low levels are willing to risk their shiny new armour on the wilderness? Most venture out in iron / steel. Or even one item. The main benefit of the defence skill, is not the skill itself - but the armour it allows one to wear. Clearly, someone with 1 defence, 40 attack and 60 strength who wears iron armour, will be at an insane advantage compared to someone who has 30 defence, 30 attack and 30 strength yet still wears iron armor. The same applies to higher levels - If your main bonus in training defence is the Barrow's and Dragon armour sets, yet you fight in full rune Vs 45 defence pures who have maximized their damage whilst still pulling out similar defence stat's, then you will be at a disadvantage. The divide between impures and pures swings further towards the impures the higher level you play at. The only real reason for this that I can see is that generally speaking the higher level you are, the richer you will be, and therefore feel more comfortable with wearing the expensive armour sets that play to your strength's Vs Pures. Another factor is the element of skill, that a pure character develops. Most pures spend a LOT of time in PvP. They learn when to pot, when to eat, when to safe and when to go for a KO. Generally impure skillers, who like to pass an hour here and there daytripping in the wilderness fail to develop these 'Skills'. Not to say that there arent skilled impures and unskilled pures, its just a factor to consider. My two pence. - Gid. [/wave to all the oldies ^.^]

Wear it! By all means! But be ready to accept the consequences of wearing it. I'm sorry, but I find the concept that characters without skill capes look 'weird' slightly silly. They look 'normal', no less, no more. Whilst being hastled must be an irritation, there are a couple of simple solutions: Ignore list. [Yup, you only have so much room - But i'm sure after 5 mins of beng ignored, the offending person will give up and you can remove them.] Public chat: Friends. [Not practical for trading situations, but if the hassle gets too much i'm sure the silence would be welcome] Are you honestly telling me that the reason you the cape [Or a nice shirt for a meal out] is worn entirely because YOU think it looks nice? I mean, you know how great you are (No sarcasm intended), but nice clothes are one way of showing other people how great you are. If I was alone at college I would probably attend in my Pyjamas, as it stands - I don't. ;) At the end of the day, you have to weigh up the benefits and disadvantages of wearing your cape. It makes you feel nice, great! But is the hassle worth it? If you decide to wear it, despite the hasstle [As i'm assuming you do?] it's not right to comlain when you get hassled. IMHO. - Gid.

I don't know about that, it seems slightly hippocritical (Yup, I can't spell. Plus I like Hippo's.) to me. You say you wear it 'for the looks' yet complain when you have to suffer the consequence of the looks. I don't think many people dress themselves up for any personal benefit, rather they dress up for the effect it has on others, and the possible boost to self esteem found therein. Essentially, showing off. You can't have your cake and eat it. If your going to look good - Your going to attract attention. ^_^ - Gid.
  25. Very interesting guide, but can someone explain to me something? What is the benefit of this skill? I mean high end? Slayer gains you access to rarer drops, Strength hits harder, Fletching gets you alchable st00f... etc... But what's the point of Hunter?
