The strong adapt, the weak quit

Unoalexi, good post. Shame that your points will be ignored or misinterpreted. :| Well - the level of ignorance here tells me that I'm wasting my time. Sorry for bothering you, enjoy your PKer free game. :wall:

Age Of Fast Money : Dead forever.
I was considering the possibility that with less incentive now to alch up high mage levels, there will be a lot less GP's coming into the game? Perhaps this, combined with the fact it will become generally harder to make a great deal of money in a short space of time - What gold people do have will be valued higher? Making the need for extremely fast moneymaking methods not quite so necessary? Just a thought I had, but I'm no economist. Close to the mark you think? Or way off? :XD:

Shut the hell up and live with it
Sorry, but this isn't a SKILLERS VS PKERS issue. It's an issue of choice, of player options being narrowed down as Jagex strives for stricter controls. Please don't advocate it as a SKILLERS VS PKERS issue. These updates present problems to everyone. If you can't see how the lack of a PvP market will effect a whole bunch of skillers, or how the abolishment of free trade poses great threat to the vast majority of gamers play styles, then I'm really not sure you hold a strong enough grasp on the basics behind this game to make comment. :| You may not yet realize it, but you were effected by the 10/12 changes. Please - If by your reference to spamming the forums, you mean the moronic ASCII pictures and pointless freedom poems; Again the problem isn't SKILLER VS PKER. It's 'PEOPLE VS IDIOTS'. I was a PKer and part time merchant. This update hit me hard, but I don't spam ASCII and other moronic crap. Before grouping people together, make sure that you are sure of exactly who you are addressing, and who you are referring to.

Shut the hell up and live with it
Make me. :) You can't? Then shut the hell up and live with it. -- I stopped paying and playing as a protest against what I consider unfavorable and unnecessary changes to the basics of my game play. I hang around, because I'm giving Jagex a chance to fix the mistakes they have made. This doesn't necessarily mean bringing the wilderness back, I'd be happy with a fun and playable substitute. I post still, making comment on these updates because while I have stopped paying and playing, I still have a great love for the game I played. And would love to see some of what I valued to be restored. If you can't deal with this, don't read the forums. Go do something else while this issue is still fresh in many peoples minds. Just because it's irritating to you, doesn't mean it's not pertinent or interesting to others. I think the truly pertinent question here, is that if you're so fed up and exasperated by all the forum talk about these updates - Why are you still on these forums? Maybe, just maybe, it's because you enjoy these forums? And you wish them to be restored to the peaceful state in which they were before the updates? Can you see where I'm going with this... ? Discussion on this subject isn't going away any time in the immediate future. Shut the hell up and live with it. - Gid.

Yup, you're right. :)

The strong adapt, the weak quit
If I had to reply to this post on an equal level, i'd probably say something along the lines of 'Make me'. But I won't sink to that level. ;)

The strong adapt, the weak quit
Strong in this thread, the ignorance is. :wall: Makes me quite sad to see people who are obviously not stupid, and obviously quite able to formulate a coherent post, presenting such a narrow minded point of view. To you you're absolutely right. To others you're way off. And that's why I loved this game. There was so much choice. People could stay level 3 and skill up to their hearts content, or they could choose to spend their play time in the wilderness. RuneScape was a freeform RPG. That means you play which aspect you want. These updates have removed a great deal of choice concerning the gamers play-style. Not only do I object to the removal of the aspect of the game I enjoyed the most [After over 5 years, the only aspect I enjoyed] PKing, I object even stronger to this restriction in choice. Have you ever sat through a dull radio show, just waiting for a promised song that you know you love? Would you still sit through the show if you knew that no song you enjoy will be played? You use the word 'quit' in this context like it's bad thing? Why is that? When you quit RuneScape, all your doing is turning the TV off, leaving the restaurant, turning the dial on the radio. It's just entertainment. If your not entertained, then stop. It's Christmas soon. Maybe you're right. 'If they would rather quit they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.' :| Hmm? Shame on you... - Gid.

Logical solutions to the illogical updates ( please read )
I would comment on your solutions, but the unnecessary insult in the second line kind of put me off. You may or may not have some valid points, however Jagex have made it glaringly clear that the only language they understand is that of finance. The only way to really force them to make a change is to challenge the stability of their income. You saw the drastic changes they implemented when RWTers challenged that stability, right? Basically, quit. Stop paying them A complaining $5 is still $5. If enough people denied them their $5 over this issue, they WOULD find a solution that the majority would be comfortable with. Oh, really? #-o

New Training Spots In Wildy
How are the Revenants in the zombie graveyard? I used to love training there on F2P toons, hordes of aggressive mobs all to myself. If I was lucky a PKer would come along and try his luck too. :)

Jagex's shroud of secrecy
Jagex can't afaik. Through 'Warden' - WoW can can see what processes you're running, similar to task manager. the reason WoW doesn't pick up on the majority of gliders, is because Glider doesn't call itself Glider[Caution: Executable File]. It generates a random process name each time. There's no way in hell Blizzard can prove that wo349idfopmwd-03[Caution: Executable File] is a bot. However, it can help build up a case of circumstantial evidence. Interestingly, the majority of WoW gliders are never proven guilty of botting. Warden is extremely ineffective [Especially when compared to Jagex bot detection, i'm lead to believe] and most Glider ban's are from the botters getting lazy and caught out by other players. Blizz tends to build up files of circumstantial evidence, then bans them under 'abuse and manipulation of the economy' as Gliders selling their loots do tend to have a stranglehold over the AH. I'm not sure how RS bot's work, but even if Jagex COULD see what processes you run - There's nothing to stop RSBots operating the same type of [Caution: Executable File] naming capers. Is there? >.>

So how DO you make a large amount of money now?
:) Well I suppose can understand why many people have a low opinion of the merchant/PK community. I just get fustrated with the 'Kick them while their down' mentality that seems to be going around. >_< No fear, i still you. And I remembered your sig because of it's truth. ;)

New Moderator Trainees: Congratulations
A little late, but congrats to all. TIF's great - You'll make it greater. ;)

There may well be a shred of hope left for the wilderness
Agreed. :)

So how DO you make a large amount of money now?
I'm sorry, but the notion that Merchanting / PKing and Staking was money without work is quite unfounded. Like everything else in RuneScape, they are skills that must be developed. A successful merchant [And I mean a good merchant, not a lazy auto-typing robot.] Has honed his skills, in both market analysis and the ability to close a good deal just the same as a miner going for 85 mining or a RCer for 91. The only difference is his success is measured not in pixels in the stat bar, but by pixels in the inventory bar. Similarly for staking and PKing, to be succusful here, not only do you need to plan out and train your character well, you also need to learn and master the correct techniques. A poorly played staker or PKer will only end up losing a lot of money. A poorly played skiller will only end up making money slightly slower than his 'smart' counterparts. I prefer a playstyle that rewards the skill and ability of the player, rather than the skill and ability of the character. At the end of the day, these methods were perhaps easier in terms of boredom and repetiveness than skilling. However if one enjoys them more and finds them more effective, it's smarter to use them? I remember a wise man once played by the motto: 'Play smarter not harder'. ;) That's all these players were doing. And thats why we resent these fundamental changes to our playstyle.

Why doesn't Jagex just sell money themselves?
I'd take the first option.
