should jagex start focusing more on older players?
F2P is an essential part of the game, other than supplying raw materials, it essentially IS the advertising campaign for P2P. No F2P = No P2P, imo. So what do you think their sole focus is? :?

Anti-More ftp bankspace thread!
Yay! *Skips through the forest, humming the theme tune to the magic roundabout* *See's a F2P, struggling to fit all his stuff into a tiny bank* *Grins, and skips past* Happyland!

Runescape....Educational or not?
Other than the leetspeak, that's all I hear in the common room at college... I still maintain that whilst RuneScape isn't educational per say, you can learn things during your time playing. I was an awful typist when I started, i'm pretty damn fast now.

should jagex start focusing more on older players?
Jadex could do a hellova lot more to prevent macro's. Just ask None2none and Qeltar. :P Seriously, how can you say Jadex aren't focused on money? That's the purpose of commercial companies, to generate the most income they can. I never said that. Read my post properly. I said I feel catered to. However, despite the long time i've spent on my RS - I've lost two accounts, and my current account does fit into the 'Low Level Update' category that Jadex specifically target, it's 81 at the moment. I can appreciate the discontent of higher leveled players, and wish Jadex would just miss out a month of updates for my level, to give them something new to do. Would that be ok with you? Or would you consider it pandering to a select group of people who "Feel superior over every other player"? :| The thing is, no matter what I would like - it doesn't really matter. As I said before, it's Jadex's game, and so long as they continue getting paycheck's - They are going to develop it however they see fit. If you really can't stand it, vote with your feet...

You want a proper response? Alright. It's not about rules to me, but respect. I hate it when people tele from me / pray / don't let me pot, etc. Why should I stoop to their level and inflict what I dislike upon someone else? My only 'rule' in the wilderness - ' Do to others what you'd want done to yourself'. Honor isn't about some imaginary rep scoreboard - it's about remembering that theres real people behind those pixels you just PJed. I don't run around shouting 'Safer' and 'Farcaster' ... But i still think it's important to treat your enemy with respect. You got treated badly, so you turn round and do the same to another bloke? =/ Not cool. * So you wouldn't BS team mates, that's nice. But whatever happened to the 'NO RULES IN WILDY ZOMG' that all the NH seem to like saying? Surely you've just admitted that there's at least one personal rule you apply to yourself, would you PJ a DM? Or crash a clan war? Where do you draw the line? Meh, i'm just venting now. I just get so irritated to see the state of the wilderness thesedays, hell even this forum has gone downhill. But as I said before, talking to a brick wall.

should jagex start focusing more on older players?
Didn't you say you were 12 or 13 in a previous thread, I'd consider that young. I also know many people who would consider me [19] young. Hell, I consider myself young. Maturity isn't an age, it's an attitude. I have proof i've been playing since Feb 02, and am pretty sure I started a while before then - I'm not bored of RuneScape, and I still feel catered to. If I got tired of the game, I've taken year long breaks at a time - When I came back there was always something new and fun to do. Seriously, it gets tedious hearing people complain that Jadex isn't catering to the more mature / or higher leveled players. You're right, they aren't. But it's Jadex's game, they have the right to develop it however they see best. If you don't like it - Do what I did, take a break... Why stay on and play a game you don't enjoy? =/ It's already been decided Jadex care only about money - so hit 'em where it hurts. Their wallet. A mass quittage of thousands of more mature / long time players might make Jadex see who they've been neglecting... - Gid.

Mantas heal 16? Like the 9 gp potato's then...? :| Nice edge whips. Seriously. Don't have a clue why you need teletab in level 3 wilderness though... doesn't it take up a brew slot or something? I know, it's clear you don't care about honor... But don't expect respect for the PK's you post... Meh.. [Talking to a brick wall...]

Why Runescape is a good game
Lol, it's all perspective... I could quite easily claim that Rs is the worst, because you don't get to run and fight all the time, and has lots of skills which you 'have' to do if you want to be effective in combat or earn gp for your weapons / armor. RuneScape is the WORST, because you DON'T get to fight constantly!. ... See? As for being the best, I agree with the 'Apples and Oranges' analogy... Right now, i'd rather be playing WoW. Sadly i'm having hardware issues - So i'm fortunate enough to be able to play RS. Different strokes for different folks... - Gid. Edit: And as for cost issues, I often hear people complaining about the cost of WoW etc - Saying how much else you could be doing with the money... I quit WoW [̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã8.00 a month] and joined a gym / sports club [̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã23.00 a month]. WoW kept me entertained for a lot less money. :P[/code]

Weekly Poll: Which operating system do you use?
This is clever, but not entirely true. To compromise this system, one needs only to dig it out, place the disks in a working system, and any data from those disks is visible. My two cents, take it or leave it. Nyosuht Are we the only two here who use Linux? Sad I missed this poll...

Runescape....Educational or not?
I was going to just ignore this post - as it was from Striker. But I guess I should point out that I never said it was the best place to learn patience. However, it's still helped me focus on goal / target setting. Don't be stupid enough to imply that I claimed parents should let RS raise their kid's for them - I said no such thing, and do not think they should. I simply pointed out that their are some positive features of RS, development-wise. It's also taught me how to type, a hellova lot faster than those 'Mavis Teaches Typing' programs tried to. RuneScape isn't educational, but it's not entirely detrimental either. Or would you disagree, Striker? - Gid. Oh, and by the way - I loved the 'Sarcasm' gag. You're a blast, mate.

Runescape....Educational or not?
Its not educational in the traditional school sense. But it does teach some things. It also demands some logical reasoning. It does expand your mind. And that is what education is truly about, is it not? *click* *click* *click* *click* *click* *click* Well, it teaches patience - And the merit of 'work'. That's good. No?

*NEW* *IMPROVED* NAME MAKER SERVICE
I have to admit when I first opened this thread I thought exactly the same thing as Paw_Claw. The names "Gdawg98721398" and "Really A girl" aren't exactly brilliant advertisements for originally. Quite the opposite. Don't hair stylists usually have great hair? To create a great impression. And when Paw Claw said: I'm assuming he was talking about people who lack the creativity to make up their own name. Not a reference to the thread creator. I'm inclined to agree with him, names aren't hard.

"No begging" as one of runescape rules, good idea or not?
Meh, let them earn their coin. - Gid. PS: Na na na naa naa.
-
"No begging" as one of runescape rules, good idea or not?
And they get a warning for misuse of the report feature. Everyones happy! \ Well, except the trigger happy reporter, and Jadex staff for the extra work... There is no perfect solution, I guess. :|

First the Wilderness Ditch, Now This?(May Someone Lock This)
Perhaps it's just me, but I still think we are off track when we blame the victim. He was scammed. Focus is better placed on eliminating the scams and would-be scammers, than telling a victim 'Well, it was your own fault' Learing from ones mistakes is all well and good - But not making *any* mistakes is surely better. No? I can understand the need for caution from experience in the real world. But there are so many open variables in the real world that aren't there in RS. I don't think the two are comparable. RuneScape is a closed environment, Jadex have ultimate control. In RL, the mother can't stop the bleach from being harmful - It simply is, In RS, Jadex have the power to ensure that people who shouldn't be harmed, aren't harmed. By 'shouldn't' i'm referring to scamming, hacking, and other - unintended use of game mechanics to unfairly harm a player, not intended difficulties, like quests, clues or the wilderness. I for one am glad that Jadex have taken the initiative, and are trying to use this power to make a difference.

First the Wilderness Ditch, Now This?(May Someone Lock This)
If you read this person's post, then reread this part. Read it again, and think about it. Now think of the future consequences if they keep on catering to the new players like this. If they don't learn and are stopped then nothing will get done. They need to learn. The thing is, most of the time when kid's get hacked - Instead of learning from their mistakes, they go and play Guild Wars. I can fully understand Jadex's motivation behind attempting to prevent password scams: Hacking -> Quitting -> Less Profit. As Toxicologist said, Prevention is better than cure. I was having this debate with a RL friend yesterday actually. He was following the 'Remove all the safety labels, and let the problem sort itself out' train of thought. I just can't get over the opinion that preventing an issue from coming up entirely, and stopping people from getting hurt - Is a greater alternative than letting people learn from experience, with harmful [Possibly fatal] consequences along the way. Now, we were talking about gun-crime, but I think the point still stands in RuneScape scamming. - Gid.

Tip.It Ventrilo?
This would be great! I miss WoW's TS. Just a question for any other linux users here, does Vent wine well? Or do we have a version that connect to either TS or Vent, Messenger style... ? Meh, i'll google it. :?

The Wilderness Ditch:Good, or bad? (Lock Please)
And your point being? As your sig clearly states, you're already 'rich for life' who cares about an extra 2 secs? Nope, I like this update tbh. I think most people complaining about it just complain for the sake of complaining, It's good to see Jadex taking a pro-active step against lurers. Ex-cuse me? Are you honestly suggesting that just because someone suffers a moments lapse, they deserve to lose everything they might have worked torwards for the last few months? That's an extremely harsh point of view. Would you feel comfortable saying "everyone who doesn't lock their car doors deserves to get car-jacked"? It's really the same thing... I agree, they were foolish for letting themselves get lured, enough there is clear - but I don't actually wish them any ill fortune because of that foolishness. They don't deserve to be lured, we all deserve the right to be able to trade free from fear of scamming and con-men. Blame the criminal, not the victim. Sorry for going off on one. But, the mentality that the victims of scams somehow deserved their fate, is just a pet peeve of mine. :? - Gid.

well-known RS2 PKers?
Lol? When it comes to PKing - Don't give people credit for the hours they've spent mindlessly clicking on rock crabs, give them props for the skill they PK with. How you got stats doesn't matter, its what you do with your stats in the wilderness... --- For F2P PKers, Mrs V0rtex and Brendanoob were my favourite. :D

17-Apr-2007 Wilderness Ditch
Good job you took enough Teletabs to be uber safe in that low level wilderness... But yeah, Trojann is right - As most P2P PK's = KO's the wilderness level isn't really that important. ... This update? Meh, as I don't Rc or get lured it doesn't really effect me. Hopefully it'l give me the time for an extra poison blob to hit them before they bank... Thanks, Jadex. :)

The sarcasm game
Witty comeback; Witty comeback; Witty comeback. RuneScape has given me a superiority complex.
