  1. Those 5 attack levels will always make you weaker against 40 attack pures. You have 2 options. 1) Get 77 strength, or 76 whichever will keep your hits low enough to stay in lower crater BH. or 2) Get 77 range and hope you stay under 55 combat. Do the range/R2H thing til you get sick of it, then train only strength til 90ish.
  2. Now to answer your Q! From level 10-35ish, mage pures will dominate the scene in F2P. From 35 onwards is the age of the ranger, with a rune 2hander most often used as the KO weapon. The range/R2H'ers will dominate through to about combat level 60 which is where the strength pures begin to overhaul them with the 21's with rune scimmys and high 20's with rune 2handers. At around the level 70 mark is where rune pures come into play, and these usually range anywhere from level 75-100 depending on prayer and def level. Most will stay at 31 pray and 40 def if they are true F2P'ers, but many switch between F2P and P2P at this stage so there will be a vast contrast in stats. 45 def, 52 prayer, 60 attack 80 strength pures are a common sight on the F2P scene, but they are at a disadvantage over the 99 strength 40 def pure.
  3. Look here - many people with bunny ears, scythes etc are very proud to have them. Perhaps in a few years you too will appreciate the broom a little more than you currently do. I'm in the same boat as many here, in that 10 bowls of yummyness sure was a nice bonus for any F2P player. I put it all on mage for my F2P characters, coz its expensive!
  4. Levels 10-30, mage pures are best for F2P, 30-55 is where the range/R2H'ers rule and after 55 is where strength pures begin to eat into the rangers dominance. 1 prayer, and 1 def is the primary rule until you are well into the 60's combat range though. There are so many variances in P2P though. From 10 attack, 60 str maulers to 1 item DDS'ers etc to 11 prayer barragers. P2P is a mixed bag, too many bs'ers, taggers and pjers to pk in earnest for me in P2P.
  5. Get range to 63, not 60. 1 more to your max hit is essential. I pked full rune 3 times with 59 str, 63 range - so it can be done. 70 range is much nicer, but you need to be very careful when considering Bounty Hunter. Its easy to max range, and then not have enough levels in hand to max out strength aswell as your hitpints become too influential. Range/R2H'ers are kings of low level BH though - so max out best you can while keeping under 55 cb - 1 prayer, and 1 def fo lyfe! Use Tip.it combat calculator often to max out!
  6. What can 99 fletch/cook do for you that 85 can't? 99 strength allows you to dish out a whole lot more damage than 85, which is why so many people work hard for it. It takes a lot longer to get 99 str than cook/fletch, it can't be bought, and it cant be done afk. Thats why its more respected.
  7. If you're not concerned about picking up arrows, then go train on black knights, while standing on the northern tip of white mountain. You will use up all your arrows in about 5 hours with nothing but yummy xp to show for it. Unless you have a backup money making plan, power ranging on shoestring budget is not viable.
  8. Long term range goal should be as high as possible stopping at every increase in max hit (63, 70, 77, 84, 91, 97). Once you get to each new max hit then raise your strength to max out your combat but still being range based. F2P'ers should keep attack at 40 til you have 99 strength. Train your range at minataurs until at least 63, but preferably 77. You should acquire enough arrows to last out your ranging days, and also get some ess, and ore to sell and make some cash along the way. At 77 you can now do 2 things: 1) Go train at Karamja on lessers. You can stay there forever if you are careful with safespots. Take alch's along to make some cash with drops. 2) Train on ankous - you will need lots of high quality food here to stave off the 10 mins of aggressiveness, but once you get over that hurdle, its very good money making and good range training to boot (not to mention ess, mith ore, deaths, addy arrow and law drops) I would suggest training your range first, and using any cash you make on strength training supplies. Food is your biggest weakness, and unless you like training on monks, or Al Karid warriors (with kebabs) - you are going to use up a lot of food in the training process. 1 def and 1 pray until you are either 90+ range, or 90+ strength. Until then its a waste of combat levels.
  9. Its a mistake - almost all other corrupt items rose 10%, and I'm sure the med should be too. If you get one, sell it now!!
  10. What I meant was that a 3 def and 3 prayer at such a low level will have a detrimental impact on a pure, so start anew. As a 99 ranger and an ex 1 def pure, I do know a wee bit about range based pures :P
  11. If you already have 3 att, st, def and prayer, then forget it and start a new pure. A F2P pure should stick with 1 def and 1 prayer until they are at least 77 range (preferably 91), or 40 attack, 70+ str (preferably 90+). Before then its a waste of combat levels as you can hit just as high at a lower combat level by training up your specific level instead. A slower way to train, sure - but thats the whole idea of a pure!
  12. I have a pure ranger with 63 range and got all of em (almost) from minataurs. Once you hit 40ish, head to the lvl 23 ones in the SE room. At least they have stackable drops that do add up to some cash at the end of your training.

If the rewards are anything like RFD, then I will prolly get members back.
  14. If you pked on him now, range/R2H'ers would eat you up. You don't have a KO at present unless you use a scimmy/R2H approach which isn't usually very successful against range/R2H'ers til the mid 50's. To get to a 'PK now' place, simply get your range up now to 63 and pk using range/R2H - or get mage to 59+ and fire blast for a KO.
  15. After training a pure for a while, I have come to detest army man, chicken man and the cube man. The ones I can stand because of the rewwards are genie, dragon master, evil twin, and pinball. The 'randomness' though is not random at all. After I have been training range for 20 mijutes or so, and want to tele to varrock to restock - I am tele'd away to a random probably 75% of the time. They do make up a large portion of my wealth though from gems!
  16. I go through fads on clues. Havent done one for a few months now, but when I start up slaying again, I will probably do clues too. Took a break from them after dieing in wildy by Chaos Elemental - cost me loads of time and cash to restock on my gear (rune defender especially!)
  17. The British Empire was the largest ever, covering 1/4 of the worlds land mass. British customs and events are far wider than just England you realise? Almost 2B people are part of the Commonwealth, some 6 times more populous than USA. Guy Faulks night is tomorrow, and is celebrated in England, NZ, Aussie, parts of Canada and the Carribean. So more countries celebrate Guy Faulks than Thanksgiving, so lets light up some crackers instead of celebrating fat americans. PS: Can' wait for the Grand quest - me liketh a lot :)
  18. Whats more often dropped, rune ore (through mining, monster drops, crystal keys etc), or rune items through monster hunting? Which ever is higher = best way that rune items enter the game. I reckon its mining/ore drops. Rune ore sells instantly, while rune sets do not.
  19. When most mods were selected, there was a heap of thenigs to do. Reporting bots, scammers etc could be a full time job. After the Nov 08 updates, the reporting duties were almost non existent unless you hang out all day in Lumby. Do some Pmods abuse power - perhaps, but lets face it they dont have much power to begin with. All they can do is go on a mass mute spree and after a certain time period of mass muting you get the ability removed. Jagex cannot predict when a Pmod will go on a bender, but very few do from what I have seen.
  20. Thank you for giving many readers another idea on how to range pk, and me another way to lure dips :)
  21. Your gloves run out fast, and after that you need your mates to stick aorund doing nought for hours while you get similar xp to that at ape atol - with the exception of not requiring prayer pots. Not to mention the risk of dieing with all your chins on board!
  22. I have a 70 range, 60 str, 40 att, 1 def, 1 pray pure that does quite well in F2P thanks. Q: Do you run to your bank when you are losing a fight? If so, pls leave now. Heed this advice: Get a KO hit above 18, and PK further away from banks. If you cant kill em before they get to safety venture further away from a bank. ½ way between varrock and lumby ought to do nicely or better yet, wildy :)
  23. Scimmies used to be 25-30k anyway when wildy was around and only dropped to alch levels once GE was introduced. The rise in PvP weaps, armour and pots is great for the game.
  24. I would suggest you dont pk unless you have 10 sets of gear you are willing to lose whilst pking. (F2P PvP that is!) If you dont want to restock gear dont pk. You will die often if you really want to pk, and expect to win. Having you finger hovering over the x, or on a tele will inevitably cause you to not win many, if any fights.
  25. Wear a ring of life, and go nuts. Maybe someone ought to tell this ranger about the luverly animals called avianses :)
