  1. Problem is you're writing the guide as if one person has control of all 25 players, and that's not the case. A better guide just breaks down what you as an individual can do to help the team along. - Put on Str prayers and pot with super strength. Damage is key. - Wait by the gates to close them when the last person walks through. Should not take long. - If you die, don't open up a gate blocking monsters to get back to the fight. Equip a bow or magic and goto towers. - On hi detail, you can hear a certain sound that is spinners repairing the gate. If you can't see it, right click on groups to find its location. - If spinner is blocked by monsters, you HAVE to fight your way to that spinner. Call others to the case. Try ancients if you have to so that the area effect damages the spinner distracting it. - Spinners can be distracted. Hit them till they attack you. If you see 2 or more spinners in the "group", attack one then the other. - ATTACK THE PORTAL. Unless it's a spinner that's repairing the gate, you do not need to attack any monster. The exception is the mages in the tower doing barrage spells on 20+ NPC's and getting mad experience. - You can cast STUN on the gate and you can POISON the gate. You know you've stunned the gate when the stars appear on it. - If you're constantly dying outside the gate, try helping out inside. There will be plenty of the teleporting monsters to wail on. JUST LEAVE TWO of them on the south side of the Void Knight. - This is difficult to do, but wait on the boat for 3 seconds. If a bigger group goes right, then head to left side and vice versa. It's easier to destroy gates early on if you have 4 or 5 guys there. Be the one that plays for the team and goes to the side of the island that needs you. - Goto the water side of the gate to avoid attracting shots from the monsters. - Groups need to go left and right and meet at the two portals on the south. This way, if one team is slowed down, you are going to their aid in short time. - Need tips for those inside the gates - Need tips for those that try the towers. I think that each tower is in range of each gate.
  2. I've not had much issue with Customer Service. Most I've done is ask a few questions on gameplay. Sometimes I got replies and sometimes it was a form letter that had a tangential relation to my question. As for problems, nope, not one. I've not been hacked, I've not been scammed in long time, I've not had a black mark, I've not been banned. I agree with the article. For 5 dollars a month you're getting alot of entertainment. In addition, most the complaints about CS is by those with axes to grind. CS's job is made even more difficult by the huge number of children that are players. As for a corporate shake-up, no. It may be growing fast with immense member and advertising revenue coming in, but that does not mean we need to be subjected to the bottom line corporate jerks. Think Jagex would keep members at 5 dollors a month once they get a CEO who sees only dollar signs? I'd be worried.
  3. Wonder what the baby red and black dragons look like now.
  4. Most likely, the character won't be banned. It'll be informed that it is blocking adverts against Rule 15. They'll ask you to remove the ad blocker for their site or cease playing their game. When you agreed to play, you agreed that Jagex can change, add or adapt rules over time without notification and that you'll agree to those changes ahead of time. As for detection, I presume it may be a reply system in your web browser. I've heard of programs being develop that are detecting ad blockers. You have every right to use ad blockers, but Jagex has every right not to let you play for free for blocking those ads.
  5. Examples of bug abuses that resulted in bans: Abyss pkers (pk'd inside the abyss, no level restrictions, only mages and those that auto retaliated could actually go into combat). Waterfall Quest bug (could complete it multiple times for rewards again, and again) Dupe Bug (could create any non-stackable item in the game). Invisible Pker Bug (you would show up on radar, but could not be seen on the player screen) I'm sure there are others. These bugs should scream out that it was not intentional by Jagex. Taking advantage of these disrupts the game universe. Doing that could disrupt players feeling the need to pay Jagex. You're messing with a company's profit. You might get miffed if you lose a whip or some gp's, but Jagex can lose real world money that pays its owners and staff. So yes, they'll hammer you (well, take away your character) if you mess with them. Try coming into my house with half the attitude you approach this game and you'll never get past the porch. Try to stay there and expect a call from the cops. It's their game and servers, you're just renting a part of it on their terms that you agreed to. That said, Jagex is not likely to ban your character for minor bug abuses. If it affected another player or game economy, then yes, they'll probably boot you.
  6. I wonder how effective any online ad can be. How many would you say you've ever clicked? I don't recall any except by accident. Still, it is revenue, if you wish to play the game you can so long as you view the ads. There are programs that can track in a way if you're showing the ads on your screen. Not sure of the details, but let's face it. If you're playing Runescape, you're allowing a limited access to info on what your computer does to Jagex. Most the rules are reasonable. Some are fairly vague and can stand to be plainly illustrated, especially in the new Knowledge Base Jagex put together.
  7. All's fair in the wild (except blatant bug abuse). The same ones that tell you don't go if you don't want to die should also tell you that you don't go pk and expect your victims to die obediently. Attack me when I'm training in the wild and I'll use prayer, not retaliate so that npc's attack you, teleport, use trees, 3-item and item protect along with anything else to help me escape. I expect the pk'r to try his best to kill me and not whine about it when he can't or doesn't get much of a reward if he does. Moral: Teleporting, like pures, is completely fair and expected in the wild.
  8. I know it's an old thread, but darn it, I like it. Ape Atoll Agility - 65 agility - 35k xp an hour (using 20 doses of super energy, 5 watermelons)
  9. Do I need to goto your drop party? No but I'd like to. Why, well, why not. I'm not in desperate need of items, I don't really take part in drop party aside from the ones I do whenever I get the hundred's mark on my skill total (and the one I did when I got 99 cooking). To be honest, any items I pick up would likely be used or sold depending on the item.
  10. Questions that were not asked that would have been interesting: 1. What 2 or 3 skills did you least like raising? Which 2 or 3 did you like raising the best? 2. In your 2 years of playing, what's been the most beneficial change to RS, the least beneficial? 3. What approach would you have done differently in you stat raising, with the hindsight you have today? 4. Any comments on the other aspects of Runescape (PvP, Minigames, Quests). It was an interesting article all around. Yes, it's not cool in my opinion to spend 12 hours a day for the last 2 years playing Runescape. Still, you have millions of people just watching television everyday, at least he interacts. His bank was interesting. It's set up like mine (organized runes, commonly used items, herbs, armor, etc.) for quick access to the task at hand. I like how he points out raising skills on the cheap. Granted, Prayer is nothing but cash. You CANNOT reasonably kill 500k ghasts and keep your sanity so it's grind or nothing (did he grind his prayer?). Now it's a matter of maxing out XP (200 mill) in the fast skills like fletching, cooking, firemaking and maybe smithing.
  11. Bah, I'll stick to fishing sharks and lobsters at Relleka. It's like the fishing guild, only better.
  12. Great guide. Impressed with the detail provided on each of the creatures. I don't know the hatred toward metal dragons. Granted, I always mage metal dragons. At my level, it only takes 40 slayer darts to take out a steel dragon (so 2 minutes a kill). Extremely slow and not as profitable since the drop in dragon skirt/leg prices. Even a 100 steel dragon assignment will net 25k slayer xp, cost 1 million gp in runes and take 3 to 4 hours. Other than that, great assignment. Guess I should start working on my slayer. Lost city isn't all that bad.
  13. Hmm, a high ranking ranger once posted that he can get 140k an hour xp at the Daggonoths using crystal bow and cannon. Combined with bones to peaches and 2 or 3 crystal bows to keep one of the always at full charge, it's expensive but very fast training. I like my spot better, it's only 80k an hour experience, but I can get 400k profit an hour.
  14. Well, I was supposed to max out at 23 or so. I've been doing 27's, 28's and once a 36 and a 40 damage over the hour or so I was testing it on phrinns. It seems there's a chance (10% maybe less) that you do double damage. Or maybe it adds to your strength bonus some times. Either way, since the damage is not consistent, I wouldn't call it a great weapon for high level training. Mid level training could find it very useful coupled with the salve amulet.
  15. For the Dragon Killing - 1. I wear shield, climbing boots, barrow gloves, and ammy of strength. Before the gloves, I also wield torag top, bottom and whip. Now, I'll do torag top, rune legs and whip so that I only lose legs if I forget to put on item protect. Lastly, I wear the duel ring for dummy teleport. In inventory I take 3 tunas and 1 teleport crystal. 2. I take a dose of super atk, super str, and anti-fire potion. 3. Using this method, I can net easily 120 green dragons an hour. For the Ecto functus - I seriously suggest you do the parts in bulk. It takes 48 minutes to grind 208 dragon bones while banking (if I'm fast, I can do a round trip of 13 bones in 2 min 45 secs). It takes almost no time to get your buckets filled (8 trips of 26 buckets). Then it's a matter of praying (another 16 trips). So, for 208 bones it takes about an hours time and 40 bank trips. Your way is less bank trips (25 trips) but I'm sure you run out of energy in that time. How many bones can you do in an hour? For the Prayer bonus - Great job. I once timed it, but decided it's so minor to not worry. I do recommend strength bonus over attk bonus and prayer though.
  16. You do realize Jagex can see bank accounts? They're smart enough to tell if you're doing a multiple login (even if it's from a different computer) solely for the purpose to trade to a mule. It's easy to tell if one person seems to be in control of both characters. If my wife and I are both on, well, it's hard to be killing Green Dragons in the wild while the other is farming. Don't worry about multiple accounts. Just make sure if two accounts interact on the same LAN IP address, that they are being controlled by two people. Yes, it's VERY tempting to create a mule, but as reports are showing Jagex can detect you using another account solely as a mule.
  17. You guys should try a bit in the military. Let me tell you a common occurance. Lance Corporal Schmuckatelly likes to say how he got punished for only being 10 minutes late to formation. What he forgets to say is, that while he was punished for being late 10 minutes, he had been late a number of times in the past, been beligerant to the Sargeant and uniform never meets regulation. Basicly, the command got tired and finally decide to take official action the next time Schmuckatelly messed up. Of course, the schmuck can't get pity from his fellow privates and lance corporals if he tells them that. It sounds like he's the victim if he was fined 500 dollars and put on restriction for 14 days for being 10 minutes late. That he had warning, after warning and chance after chance to clean up his act would make it look like it was his fault. Goto to any job, and there'll be a worker that's a complete dirtbag yet all the bad things the management does to him (lack of promotion, demotion, lousy work hours) are obviously not his fault. He's the paragon of virtue. Moral, be wary about these players saying they got banned for such and such action. First, Jagex does not tell you the full details of why you were caught. If the player can't know definate, they can only guess at what activity Jagex caught them violating. So yes, MAYBE a player was giving his kid rare items cause they looked pretty, but MAYBE Jagex noticed this guy later took the items back and sold them. MAYBE Jagex banned a character for saying Tip.It or MAYBE Jagex noticed this guy was also talking about known cheat sites that like to give trojans up for downloads. PS: I think Jagex can tell the difference between using an account as a mule and an account used by another player on a different computer on the same LAN.
  18. However, if you wear a Saradomin symbol, you weaken the vampire. Not sure if having garlic will also give you a benefit. Crumble undead is great, especially with the slayer staff. Level 80 skeletons beware.
  19. I don't even bother watching the plots. Just plant them and move on. The herbs don't die enough to worry about it. Watermelons NEVER die so long as you have Nasurtiums grown in the middle and use supercompost. Herbs die occasionally, but if you're getting 6-7 herbs on average you usually make a profit when you sell them to buy more herb seeds.
  20. As luck would have it, I've been tracking my watermelon and snapdragon farming. Here are the results, using supercompost and WIELDING the magic secateurs when I harvest crops on the second part. ~~Without Magic Secateurs ~~ note - even as level raised, there's little to no difference in results 2826 Watermelons, 200 plots, 14.1 per plot 512 Snapdragons, 74 plots, 6.9 per plot No watermelons died, 6 out of 80 snaps died ~~With Magic Secateurs~~ 1301 Watermelons, 80 plots, 16.3 per plot 255 Snapdragons, 35 plots, 7.3 per plot No watermelons died, 5 out of 40 snaps died ~~Overall Improvement~~ Watermelons - 2.13 per patch - +15% Snapdragons - 0.37 per patch - +5% ------------------------------ I think the dying on the final test was a string of bad luck. The yield though is showing higher averages.
  21. I'm guessing that a better farming level gave you better damage against tangle foots. That had to be removed quickly as it worked against all monsters and looks like you got insane damage from it. Too bad, I'd like to see more plant based monsters (moss giants, he he) we could use these secateurs on. Maybe Jagex will tweak it and put it back in the game, higher the farming, higher the damage.
  22. Well, can you submit a close up of the Earth Champion banner to Tip.It if you haven't already. I think that's the last for them. They should post a picture of the empty chair for the Champ of Champs banner. They don't have a good picture of Leon to post. All in all, a cool update that must take FOREVER to finish entirely. Wonder what the next set of champions will be? There's spiders, ghasts, shades, chickens (argh, evil chicken), bunnies, ice warriors, dagganoths, dragons, and probably more that I'm forgetting.
  23. Well, as luck would have it I've been tracking my xp and yield from farming allotments and herbs. I've been doing only watermelons and snapdragon with 5 rounds done with cadatine. All with supercompost. Anyway, for 25 rounds (262.5k total xp) I've averaged 7.6 cadatines (3 out of 20 died), 6.9 snapdragons (6 out of 80 died) and 14.1 watermelons (none died) per plot. That's from levels 66 to 70 farming. I've done two rounds (28.9k total xp) while WIELDING the magic secateur. So far I'm averaging 7.4 snapdragons and 19.6 watermelons per plot. That's at level 70. PS: this is better than the 2 rounds I did at level 70 without the secateurs.
  24. May be useful to people fighting Mages, this is about defense against mage attacks. --------------------------------------------- Dear Nuke Marine, Thank you for your message about the magical defence. Your magical defence is balanced in a 70% magic skill and 30% defence split. In answer to your second question, your magic skill is how often you hit with your spells and your magic defence is what resistance you have to magical attacks. I hope this answers your query. Yours Sincerely Mod ***** RuneScape Customer Support ----------------------------------------------- Meaning someone in full Black with 30 magic, 70 defense will be hit more often than someone in full Black with 70 magic, 70 defense.
  25. I'd still like someone to verify the goutweed and other herbs with nothing listed by them. PS: Why hasn't tip.it added this table to their Random Events? It's the only random event where you can choose your reward. Considering an avantoe can net you 7k gp potion (super restore), there's bound to be some people that would like to know that. I got LOTS of Hyde events cooking by the way.
